I'm wondering what the tz_sensor 8 is for?
I'm thinking it's measuring ambient/room temperature as it's always lower than the other sensors and it roughly room temp.
I'm guessing the others to be for device temperature.
Does anyone know for sure?

Most of the phones have temperature sensor which displays battery temperature and not room temperature. So bad luck.

In my galaxy note 2, when i see the temperature using *#0228#, it shows that battery temperature is 35`C and temperature of external thermistor is 55'C. What is external thermistor ?? Also, what is the reason of its high temperature and will it cause any harm to the phone ??
Also, is there any solution to this problem ??
Because of this high temperature, when i open camera, it shows an error "Flash has been temporarily turned of because device temperature is too high"

Generally higher temperatures is due to a too heavy load on the processor.
I advise you to download batteri saver which enables you to see which application is heat your battery

I have tried every possible application and I also factory reseted the phone hoping that it would solve the problem but all in vain.
hi, my z3 gets around 45-48 degree celcius while idling. and could get up to 58 degree celcius while playing game. is that normal? if its not, how can i fix it?
Seems pretty warm for idling. Do you live in a hot place/region? What apps have you downloaded? Maybe there are some errant apps. As for games yea Im not surprised if its getting that hot.
Sorry for the necroing the thread, but this is relevant. I live in Eastern Canada and right now it is the winter time. My house is room temperature and this my phone's "tsens_tz_sensor0" is fluctuating between 47 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Sensor 5 is fluctuating between 54 to 56 degrees Celsius. Sensor 6 is between 45 to 46. Sensor 8 is between 43 to 45. The other sensors show minimal to no change at all.
Is this normal?? My phone has an unlocked bootloader, I'm running updated, stock CA generic rom, and it is rooted. Before unlock of the bootloader, my phone was running fine temperature wise, but I did not check the temperature checking app.

I was Searching for Temperature issues with Z3 because i have temps of about 40-42 C when recording Videos..
Coming across with this it seems really bad.
and i am recording at 1080p 30fps and after about 15mins i get the Temperature too high warning, is that normal??

Yeah it's expected the S3 has an older 1.4 Ghz A9 CPU, the Z3's 801 runs at 2.5 Ghz which means higher voltage and in turn temps. Samsung also allow the chipset to run hotter.
Do you use the FB messenger?
I found it caused my phone battery drain and warm.

my note pro 12.2 temperature gets quite high 40C when using it even if the conditions are relatively cold outside is this normal?
my samsung s3 would heat up too that's why i never closed the cover properly to let the hot air escape.. this made a big difference as it wouldn't go up past 32C even in warmish indoor environments (also i used power saving and lowest brightness). i apply the same principles to the tablet, power saving, lowest brightness or auto brightness yet the top part by the camera at the back i can feel heating up and is quite warm.. is this normal? do you other guys have high temps?
i read a review saying it doesn't really go above 35.6C which is BS as mine goes to 40C. i know because the cover is not open the hot air cant escape so the CPU is running up or the battery is heating up or maybe both. i use OS monitor to monitor my battery temp and voltage.
do i have a defective unit possibly? this might also explain why it reboots randomly however i know for certain when it rebooted the temperature was low as i was using it in like 4C conditions so the temp was under 30C max however now the temperature outside has risen i think that's playing a part. im getting sick of all these samsung issues. their quality control needs to be better or at least create so air vents so the battery can breathe. temperature kills lithium ion and i dont think you can change this battery easily

What you're reading is battery temp, not cpu temp. 45c and below is perfectly fine. As for cpu temp, gaming can bump that up to 80-85c. Thermal shutdown occurs at 105c (SM-P900)
Help, I got a oneplus 8 but the device throttles and starts lagging profusely immediately it reaches 44 degree Celsius, I've tried everything from custom roms to magisk modules, nothing works, I got this phone to play games but it cant even do that for more than 10 mins as it starts lagging.

Only when playing, it's a Snapdragon 865 with 12gb of ram phone and it cant even play games at the lowest graphics for more than 5 minutes without lagging

There are modules designed specifically for gaming needs. Here are a few for testing purposes.
A phone’s internal temperature can be 36-43 degrees Celsius (96.8-109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) and still be considered normal.
Arguably, its fine, if anything that's considered "cool" considering the chips can withstand up to 90°+.
The temperature reading you're seeing is simply the "system" temperature. The CPU and GPU hit well above 90c on games like Genshin Impact, there is nothing to worry about as those chips are designed to run these high temperatures. If high temperatures on SoC's would have been as damaging as some people make them out to be all devices would have been dead by now, but they still run despite thermal throttling at almost 100c nonstop.

Taking any sensor above 160F isn't a good idea as a runaway component frying temperature excusions (caused by temperature control hysterious) can and do happen. You need a buffer zone to help avoid this...
High temperatures and current drain trash Li's prematurely as well. Any constant drain of 800 mAh or greater will effect battery longevity. Some of these newer phones are drawing an average of 1Ah when not even gaming, ridiculous.

Thanks, I've tried some magisk modules in the past but none of them works and some of them bricked the phone and I couldn't boot up without formatting it, I'll need to make a back up before trying any of these so I won't loose files again.

The phone is fairly strong for it to start throttling at 44 degree Celsius is just barbaric, I'm in Africa and 44 is just the normal temperature for any phone, because the weather's hot

If the humidity is low use a damp microfiber cloth to cradle it in. If the battery goes above 108F it may trigger throttle back even shutdown.
It likely will not charge above 104F.
Keep it out of the sun, always. Use manual brightness control and keep it under 50% whenever possible. Optimize it and take out the trashware like FB, WhatsApp and such.
I can use my phone at 100F for prolonged times with no cooling for browsing but need cooling for vids or such as well as charging at those temperatures.
