Here is the latest TWRP Recovery for Android 5.1.1. TWRP lets you back up your stock ROM or flash custom ROMS.
1) You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash this. Once flashed you can root easily. You can follow my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-x2/general/mediapad-x2-unlock-bootloader-root-guide-t3212325
2) To use. extract the files then flash the twrp_cn.img in Fastboot (fastboot flash recovery twrp_cn.img) or double click the run.bat and follow the instructions.
I am not responsible if anything happens to your device or if your house burns down This has been tested on the 703L only. Use it on other models at your own risk.

Put the B107 update on your sdcard in a folder called dload. Make sure you rename the B107 Update to update.zip before you do this or it won't see it. Go into settings--->Updater---->Hit Menu at the bottom and go to Local Update. It will see it and you'll be able to install it. Any incremental update that you do make sure to rename the file to update.zip. Do the same process for the B108 update.

Why it keeps on giving me in the CMD:
'Failed Remote command not allowed'.

Is your bootloader Unlocked ?
I used to have similar error even though my bootloader state was shown as "phone unlocked". So I re-unlock the bootloader and then I managed to flash the twrp custom recovery

Yes it is, at the bootloader screen it shows the Phone Unlocked.
BTW.How to re-unblock it? In case needed.

Just type in fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxx where x is your unlock code.

Yes - as "ajsmsg78" stated just reboot into bootloader mode and type in "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
After that try to flash the trwp - it worked for me.

May I know how you managed to flash the 5.1.1 twrp onto your 702L ?
When I did "fastboot flash recovery twrp_cn.img" and tried rebooting into recovery mode, it went into a boot loop ?
I wanted to use it to try flash the B106 703L ROM

Help flashing twrp on 6.0

So when I got my k1 yesterday it was on 5.1.1. I unlocked the bootloader and also flashed twrp and rooted. I then let the ota file download and then I tapped on flash, it then rebooting into twrp and flashed it. My k1 rebooted with 6.0 then, but my root was gone. I tried to reboot into twrp to reinstall SuperSU and it seemed like the 6.0 erased twrp somehow. I have been trying to flash twrp 2.8.7.3 with the command fasboot flash recovery twrp.img. Once I flash it and try to reboot into recovery it just stays on the nvidia splash screen. So what can I do to be able to get twrp on my k1 with 6.0 on it?
Not entirely sure, but I think you're going to have to wait for an update to TWRP for MM. I think recoveries are BL dependent, and I believe the BL did in fact update with the recent upgrade to Android M.

How I bricked it... share your experiences!

So it seems that we are having the first (hope soft...) bricks here... :crying:
I think it could be interesting for ALL sharing HOW you brick it with details, so others can avoid to do same errors.
Eventually would be even more interesting how you have recovered from your brick status (if you...:fingers-crossed with detailed guide...
I think that having all in a single thread could be very useful, so... share your (bad) experiences...
Flashed the rogers firmware on my retapac moto z then updated to us version nougat. Root didnt work so flashed back to rogers mm. Not booting anymore. Not flashing anything nor side loading since cant downgrade bl and gpt. Nougat sideload refuses because it sees device as already on new firmware.
So edited the flashfile.xml on rogers mm firmware. Removed the bootloader and gpt flash and reflashed partial mm system. Sideloaded nougat again and everything went perfect.

The warning message is normal. So what happens when you go to Recovery mode. When you installed twrp, you executed both fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and fastboot boot twrp.img? So it boots directly to twrp.
So if you're upgrading to nougat, the sequence should be:
Go to bootloader screen.
Flash rogers MM firmware thru rsd lite.
Go to bootloader screen again and select recovery.
Choose adb sideload.
Type the command to sideload the nougat firmware.
Optionals are install twrp, install the odexed custom nougat firmware from the other thread, and root.

i came from latest marshmallow with unlocked bootloader and rooted. because the ota didn't work i flashed stock marshmallow reteu via fastboot and loaded the ota again via the update menu in settings. it failed again. therefore i flashed stock nougat retmx via fastboot. the result was a black screen and only an unknown device named "qusb_bulk" at the windows device manager. meanwhile i've installed qualcomm drivers and qfil but still need the right files for my xt1650.

Is rsd lite still seeing your device? There are full firmware files somewhere here in the forums. Or do you only need bootloader and boot img files?
rsd lite is just using fastboot. i need the files for qfil. (rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml)
I came fresh out the box xt1650-03 and was trying to get twrp (which worked) and then root which failed. So installed on of these ROMS that had root and maybe even the 7.0. Now I just get the your devices is unlocked screen and nothing else. I just want to get back to the way it came but cannot get RSD to see my phone. Any help or ideas?

Why the lack of updates on this phone?
Wed Aug 31
As Peter Griffin says - if they're not giving it to you, you probably don't need it. Remember these large groups of men know what's best for you.
Seriously though, there might be tons of unique adoptions to the phone that need time to port?
CM14.1 was out a week ago but Moto Mods aren't working and that's 50% of the phone not working.

Need to restart your phone from Fastboot and you need adb on your computer.

If you unlock the bootloader before the nougat. You can Install Nougat but it will autoshutdown the unit because the Boot.img and Recovery.img is still in Marsmallow OS.

Hi everyone!
I have a Zenfone 3 operator branded (TIM).
I am still on Marshmallow with Locked Bootloader.
Can I use these ADB commands to overwrite my actual Stock Recovery and gain the WW Nougat Recovery?
Then I would enter the recovery to install the same WW Nougat ASUS ROM version.
In this way would I obtain to debrand my phone and get Nougat in one shot?
Can this be done with Locked Bootloader?
Thank You!
Links are down, please refresh
It works!
I just want to confirm to those who are wondering that installing the recovery and boot images along with the firmware from the Asus website works fine. Just make sure that you get the firmware that has the same version with the recovery+boot that the OP uploaded which is 14.2015.1701.8.
Phone hasn't shut down or rebooted on its own so there shouldn't be any worries as long as you do all the steps right.
Edit: I did this on a ZE520KL btw.

Boot animation problem

Hi
since i flash my update rom android 7.0
i have two Boot Animation
first is for honor
second is huawei
how remove second one?
plz help me
Try to clean flash your firmware through dload method, trying to be accurate while flashing. Something surely went bad while flashing the update you're talking about. Maybe you flashed the 7.0 for another variant, and now it messed up the firmware. Go on hwmt.ru site -> firmware database, and recover your ROM update package.
You have to pay attention and flash ONLY packages that matches your build number first 9 characters. Like "BLN-L21C432Bxxx", for example, will work only on a BLN-L21C432Bxxx. Flash only packages with PV at the end of the name.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Is possible add root to original rom? I have last nougat whit root and trv recovery. Is possible flash rom oreo .zip whith root integrate.
No you need to flash it white stock recovery
@magicozero
Do you have the ze552kl or the ze520? I can try to do it for the ze552 since I have that model.
@Rasque
If you can flash with stock recovery, you can flash with twrp. It has been discussed many times, and I flashed Oreo with twrp so I am speaking from personal experience.

what do you mean by "put room"? If you don't want to unlock your boot loader, you can still flash the stock unmodified rom through stock recovery.
If you don't want to unlock, you can try booting (not flashing) twrp through fastboot and then flash magisk. I've never tried it so I'm not sure if it'll work.
this rom can be flashed by twrp???

No, just with the original recovery.
@kiq1702 @mcyorian
Yes, you can flash it with twrp. Edit the updater script, it works fine. I don't think I've ever used the stock recovery to flash anything, went straight to twrp and never looked back.

Yes, you can. No need to edit script or anything but before reboot you need to flash magisk or it wont boot.
You don't need any kind of recovery to install this update. Just download the rom file from asus website, put it in the main folder of your zenfone3 (remember the main folder, not the downloads. if you download the update from your phone it will directly go to downloads folder, so you have to move the update file to main folder) and in couple of seconds you will get a notification that says new update found. And it will update itself. You don't have to flash anything with any kind of recovery.
Only thing to pay attention is when you are downloading the update from official website which is HERE choose the World Wide (WW) version.
