Hello!
I am currently rooted and running the latest COI5 firmware. My signal quality has greatly reduced since upgrading to this firmware. I have attempted to Odin the BOH6 modem/radio file. Once doing so, I get an X on the signal, and baseband version shows "unknown." I then Odin the COI5 modem and I have service back, crappy service, but service never the less. When I have BOH6, I would have LTE, now I have H+. With BOH6 I would have H+ in some areas, now I have EDGE.
Anyone have a suggestion on how I can get back to BOH6 and/or how I can make my service better?
I was trying to play Madden and I keep getting kicked for not having a network connection when it fluctuates from LTE to H+ to UMTS to EDGE.
Thanks!
Tee Jay
Not sure what the cause of your issue is but this is what happened to me. Since I rooted I've been running jovy23's stock modified deodexed ROM. Jovy's ROM does not include the modem so when I updated from BOH6 to COI5 I was using BOH6 baseband for a day. When I got home that night and updated to the COI5 modem I had no network connection at all until I toggled WIFI on & off.
My network connection is working just fine on COI5. I personally can't tell a difference from BOH6. I haven't seen anything other than the LTE & 4G symbols since I got this phone. I know I'm not helping much but just wanted to share.

I appreciate your response.
It just seems that in my area, I'm receiving much weaker signal reception with COI5.
A trick that worked on older models is to flash via odin, however uncheck the option to auto restart. Instead manually power down the phone then reboot straight back into download mode and flash again.

I was having trouble with ICS ROMs and decided to go back to GB.
I chose Silver's GB rom and was mostly happy with it but could not get LTE even in places I know have plenty of signal so I decided to go "bone stock Rogers"
So I Odined back to "stock" using I727RUXKJ7_I727RRWCKJ7_RWC from SamFirmware, and even reset the flash counter.
Mostly looks OK but I still don't seem to get into LTE mode even when I'm in the city (it used to just switch up as I progressed down the highway, then drop back as I left the city (Ottawa))
I tried reflashing just the Rogers modem Radio_RIL_I727RUXKJ7.zip, but no difference...
Today I thought I would see if Kies recognized my phone as being "stock", so I let it do it's upgrade and connected my phone... it saw the phone but reports it as "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies."
The firmware it sees says "Current firmware version: PDA:KJ7 / Phone:KJ7 / CSC:KJ7 (ATT)"
I suspect that the "(ATT)" is where the problem is (maybe for my LTE issue too??)
Anyone know how I get the CSC to stop reporting itself as ATT?
Thanks,
Jamie

Cany ANYONE tell me where I can find the Rogers CSC? I can't seem to find a way to extract it from the md5 file. ('cause I have no idea of the file format)
Is there a way to find and edit the file right on my phone instead?
not the right file, the rogers one is "I727RUXKJ7_I727RRWCKJ7_I727RUXKJ7_HOME.tar.md5" , everything u need to know is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
Thanks again,
That worked perfectly... back to stock, re-rooted, and restored... Kies once again recognizes me, and I'll find out Friday, when I get into the city if the LTE is back to working again. (and IF Rogers ever drops ICS I'll be able to install it)

I'm having an odd issue. I've been running the latest Hyperdrive ROM release on my S3 for about a year now, but I can't stand Touchwiz ROM's so I've tried flashing AOSP ROM's such as CM, AOKP, even Beanstalk. I love all of these ROMs for tons of reasons but I keep running into the same problem, everything works great but I can't receive mobile data. My mobile network state is Disconnected and I have no idea how to fix that. I can text, call, and connect to wifi fine, but no mobile data. I've backed up my EFS but I'm not sure that's connected to the same thing. I have the network set to "CDMA/LTE" (would be more specific but each ROM has it different), but for whatever reason the APN settings are inaccessible. The menu option is clearly there but I cannot open it to ensure I'm using the LTE APN. I decided to give this another go yesterday, and still no dice. However upon restoring my CWM backup of Hyperdrive, I have now lost 4G and am stuck on 3G. My network type now shows eHRPD and while I can access my APN's (I was always able to on Touchwiz ROMs) I can tap on the Verizon LTE APN, but it seems to make absolutely no change to the actual APN. In fact when I reboot it it defaults back to eHRPD all over again.
So, 1. have I somehow screwed myself over? and 2. what am I missing with AOSP based ROMs?
Thanks for any and all help.

I would try flashing a stock ROM such as the one on ScottsROMs.com
The 4.3 stock rooted, OTA disabled, UNlocled boot loader and no Knox.
See if you can get data with that. Firmware for the radio may have gotten messed up, and this would re-write that data (long shot, but worth a try). Another option would be to re-flash the radio maybe.
And now that I think of it, which radio are you on? MF1, ML1, NE1? Because I think I read somewhere that certain ROMs require a certain radio newer than _____ (don't remember which radio).

Thanks for the help. I flashed a 4.3 ROM as you suggested, and no difference. I then chased some threads around and decided to just factory reset it as if I was going to return it. Still nothing, I get 3G, not LTE. I was using MB1 before I flashed an AOSP ROM, at which point I flashed the MF1 firmware and then the ML1 modem. That did nothing to fix my issue. I'm not quite sure what else I can do at this point.

Hmm... ML1 should be new enough.
That's a bizarre issue.
For me, I mainly get 3G. It seems as if either Verizon pulled some LTE towers near me, or my data antenna doesn't have very good contact. Maybe you're having the same issue.
Do you EVER get 4G? Or literally never?
I recently flashed from stock to 5.01 and since then I get the "No Service" notification when I am in certain LTE coverage areas but the service bar shows 4G almost full bars.
My mobile data setting is set to Global, and if I am in the settings page the "Mobile Data" tab shows "disconnected"
I used a nandroid after a few days to get back to my previous ROM and still had the same problem. So I used an RUU to reflash 4.4.4 stock, still same issue.
I'm no expert but I'm not new to this either. I've rooted and flashed custom rom's since EVO 4G came out.
I know I'm missing something, I just don't have enough technical experience to figure this out.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I'm in the same boat man. I flashed the 5.0.1, and I have not had LTE since. Just as lost as you are bud. Heres to finding a solution. :^)
I have found that since my post that sometimes if I turn airplane mode on for a minute, then back off I will get a connection, although not always and sometimes not for very long..

I have not, and I should still be on stock recovery from the RUU.
Is that function any different in the hboot vs. a custom recovery like twrp? Sorry I am not doubting you, just want to understand more about what certain processes like this are doing.

any update on getting your LTE working. Same thing happened to me and i want my 4g. 3g just isnt the same.
Sprint GS6 Edge - Unlocked by Sprint - Android 6.0.1
I updated to Marshmallow earlier today and everything is great except for the fact that I am not getting signal on my phone. It keeps saying Searching for Service on the top left of the screen and the signal bars stay at 0.
I tried changing Network Mode but I get an "Emergency Calls only" if i switch to GSM/ UMTS and if I try to look for my network provider manually I get no results. With both LTE/ CDMA and CDMA it just keeps looking for Service.
I am not in the States but have been using this phone for the past year or so with no problems until I updated this morning (downloaded .tar file and flashed it with Odin).
I was rooted and had a custom rom before I updated but I made sure to clean the phone and do all the steps correctly to update. Also, the phone gets signal even without rooting/ custom rom in 5.0.2 (again, Sprint unlocked the phone when I first got it).
Any ideas on what to do/ how to fix this? If it is a problem with the update, is there a way for me to go back to 5.0.2?
Thanks for the help!
Same problem OTA update.
Did u find any solution to your problem I am also outside US, I got an OTA update of Marshmallow for GS6(unlocked by sprint), and it can't find the network anymore, I've been using the phone with the same regional carrier for months and now after the update can't find the network.
Same issue here... I have tried everything... and nada!
Also out of the country with a rooted and unlocked Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-925P - I tried and searched everywhere, even went to a "GSM Phone Genius Store" and they could not do anything for me. I do get on my network (Orange), on automatic or LTE data works fine but I can't either receive nor make calls. At first I thought it had something to do with the Hands Free Activation pop up but after I could not find any solution I went back to 5.1.1 the Hands Free Activation popped again and of course would not register just like on 6.0.1 but... I had all my network connections working fine. I was able to make calls, receive them and LTE data as well. So that was not the issue. I then (rooted) took off the Hands Free Activation pop up by renaming the SprintDM.apk file to .bak just in case you guys want to remove the annoying notification... In all the searching I found that this was a glitch on Sprint's version of the Marshmallow update, since this is the only 6.0.1 for my SM-925P I could not use another country's 6.0.1 I tried jejeje, believe me I tried... So, it appears that we will have to wait until Sprint finds it in them to fix this but I am very hopeful the REAL Geniuses of XDA could come up with a patch for this issue. The guys at the store I went said that the cell's operating system was not getting the GSM network and that is why I could not make or receive any calls and the LTE was working fine. Hope this helps some and even more hopeful that any of the boyz/girlz of XDA take pitty on us and come up with a fix for this thanks in advance...
Mario Bello Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-925P
Is it because you're out of the States has something to do with it?
A few of us did the same thing but didn't encounter any of the issues you're mentioning?!
So far everything is working smoothly. I just can't wait for a nice MM based ROM to come out for Sprint variants..
I guess but I went back to 5.1.1 and everything works fine... So, I do think so... Oh well, me too waiting on a MM Rom to see if something changes... But meanwhile still NOT able to make or receive calls ...
Possible Fix
I had this problem with a Sprint S6 Flat too, what I did to fix it was to download an older firmware where the S6 was gettin signal then extract the modem.bin from it and flashed it in odin, restart the phone and got signal
How did you extract de file to get the modem?

Wow really thought this was gonna work, many thanks... I did as you said and was very hopeful... once I flashed the modem the phone did come up with a signal and I could make calls but now the phone does not switch from GSM to LTE back and forth. If I have it on (Automatic) LTE/Data works fine, as soon as I try to make a call it goes to 3g then just signal up but it does not make the call and then it wont bring back LTE, stays on 3g... I'm dying here with this! If I put it on GSM / UMTS I am able to make calls but no Data...
I did do it with the 6.0.1 as it was, I gonna try this, do a factory reset, flash a clean version of the 6.0.1 and then flash the modem to see what happens.
Again, many thanks GTOFerrari, by far the best option TO FIX this I have see to date.

Yeah, I was curious as to how to do that as well, spent sometime in google but I found the way, and it is actually very simple. You download the firmware from which you would like to extract the modem. Then with WinRAP or any software like that you find the firmware and click extract on a folder cause about 5 files extract from it or so and you will see the modem.bin file there. Now, the issue was how to flash the bin file through Odin, it does not say "Phone" anymore like previous versions of Odin, so more google time spent and what I ended up doing was converting the .bin file to TAR and then flashed it through Odin clicking on AP like always. I found a software called PeaZip that converts the .bin file into TAR... There's probably a way to flash it through Odin as a .bin file clicking on one of the other options BL, CP (probably this one CP) or CSC but I don't know which represents "Phone" for sure so I converted the file as instructed on another XDA thread and that's how I did it.
Hope this helps, and again, the props on the solution goes to GTOFerrari...!

Thank you Mario. I noticed that my network options used to included in the version 5.1.1 CDMA/EvDo/GSM/ O WCDMA , and my used to work fine in H+ in network mode gsm/wcdma. Now I only get the network options Cdma/Lte .. Gsm/Umts. I will keep trying and let you know if I get it to work.
I have attempted to root my phone, and it has succeeded the last time. I have installed Busybox, Xposed, and verified root works.
Problem is my signal in the status bar only shows 4G, and never LTE, which I have gotten before. I'm also getting H+, and H, as well as 3G, which I never got before. When I had LTE it was a significantly faster than any of the others (H+, H, 3G, E+).
The I softbricked my phone the first time because I used the wrong Xposed framework, so then I reset to factory. However the factory image I downloaded may have been different? I'm not sure, as it appears to be the latest stock firmware, but somehow isn't. Actually, now that I look at it, it appears it isn't a T-Mobile firmware I flashed at all...I have all the T-Mobile bloatware installed, but there's no WiFi calling, that's my first red flag.
I downloaded the firmware from Sammobile, and I'm 100% sure I used the G935T firmware. If you know of a better place to download firmware, or an official site that'd be great. (This is the name of the ZIP I flashed (well, I flashed just the AP in the ZIP: G935TUVU3APG1_G935TTMB3APG1_TMB.zip)
Also, the Kernel Toolkit CPU options do not stick at all, every time I close and reopen the app they are reset back to default.
Anyone have any idea on how to fix these? Thanks.
EDIT: Going back to stock firmware using Kies 3.
Does your baseband match your build number in about phone? I had mismatched the two and got 4G instead of LTE.
im wondering if you ever got this issue fixed i actually have the exact issue ??????
