Enable Wifi Calling on rooted G920F / 5.1.1 on T-Mobile network - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a rooted (UniKernel + TWRP) on a stock 5.1.1 rom.
I bought this phone in order to have an international version but I'm living in the US with a T-Mobile SIM card.
I rooted this phone to try to enable Wifi calling on my G920F.
I followed this guide to add the Wifi Calling option to the Phone settings --> Enabling Hidden Features
( I added the two lines in others.xml )
This is based on EE network Wifi calling capabilities.
After restarting I have the option, turned it on but nothing worked.
Apparently I am missing another option to choose the wifi calling mode according to T-Mobile support :
Select one of the these options:
Wi-Fi Preferred
Cellular Network Preferred
Never use Cellular Network

I don't have the Wifi Calling app installed also. Does someone have an APK ?
Did anyone make it work ? What settings did you use ?
Also if someone has a T-Mobile version, it is possible to get the content of Others.xml in order to compare.
Thanks

Wi-Fi vs 3G on the P3100

How do you differentiate a Wi-Fi model from a 3G one? I just flashed a Wi-Fi variant over my 3G model, and now the phone is missing.

buddy its simple there is a sim card slot on 3g model but not on wifi...
And on flashing you didn't get any phone option bcoz wifi model firmware do not have any module for calling(gsm utility) like phone.apk etc...

1- As i understand you have the 3g model and flashed a rom made for wifi model and didi not find any phone functions it is normal as this rom you flashed made specifically for wifi only model so do not expect it to display phone functions as it is not designed to use you gsm module in your tab it is for another model without gsm module so your gsm module will not find app inside this rom to use its abilities so will remain dormant and silent
2- Regarding your question flash only the roms that say clearly it is for p-3100 not those for p-3110 or p-3113 as those do not contain gsm module so will work in your device but no gsm functions or phone functions will work if you flash a rom that says clearly in the instructions in the thread you downloaded from that it is for p-3100 so you are good to go and gsm and phone functions will work no worries
3- I read a reverse condition of yours as if one with for example p-3113 ( without gsm module or phone functions) flashed a rom for p-3100 (with gsm and phone functions) the icons of phone and messaging and contacts will appear to him but if he presses these icons no actions happen as no gsm module found in his device

Help needed for CDMA data service (downgrading from 4.4.2 to lower version)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I535 CDMA Verizon & GSM phone. Originally it was on android 4.1.2 and working fine for both CDMA and GSM (one at a time). CDMA EVDO Rev A data service was working fine.
I am using this phone in Nepal (not in USA). It was carrier unlocked for both CDMA & GSM when I purchased from Amazon. (so, I guess, Originally it may had some customized firmware/ROM for International use, I don’t have much idea).
I was asked for firmware upgrade every time when I run Samsung Kies. One day I clicked to upgrade the firmware. The upgrade was over successfully. But the new android version I found on my phone was 4.4.2.
In this version /new upgrade, I was unable to use CDMA data (EVDO-rev A). So I wanted to reverse back to old version. I search the process in Google and tried to load firmware with the help of Odin3 using this file:- “I535VRBMF1_I535VZWBMF1_VZW.zip”, but it was not successful. Result: Fail(Auth)
Then I loaded firmware for 4.4.2 using Odin3.09 (AP: “I535VRUDNE1_I535VZWDNE1_I535VRUDNE1_HOME.tar.md5”) and now the phone is working.
• If I use GSM SIM I can make call and use HSPA data service as well by adding new APN.
• If I use CDMA RUIM I can make call, BUT DATA SEVRICE using CDMA EVDO Rev A is NOT WORKING!! (I can not save APN in this case).
Now my issue is how to make CDMA EVDO data service working in my phone, because my basic requirement is to use this phone for CDMA service (voice + data).
I can edit the APN but when I click “Save”, nothing was saved. So I can not select APN for my carrier. I tried using APN Manager Pro too, here I can enter & enable the APN, but did not work. The phone is not able to dial the data access code #777 (verified from CDMA service provider side trace).
Can someone help me what I should do to make my phone working for CDMA data. My phone is rooted.
I guess it may work for CDMA data if I downgrade it to 4.3 or 4.1.2,
Can I do that. If so what are the procedures / steps. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciable.
My data worked this way

I think your problem is the region is not set Nepal...I installed dark jb rom in my phone and data was gone since then. Then I manually downloaded stock firmware and flashed through odin but still data wasnt working,nd while in recovery mode i saw region INS ie India. then something came in my mind and.. .I changed it to NPL and now i can use data in only sim 1 only not in both sims. So i also may need some help.
For you *#272*IMEI# . Use your phones IMEI number there (*#06#) . Select NPL region.
NOTE: It will hard format your phone installing required carrier apps, aps, bla bla and hope work on your phone

I found that the hidden menu (& hence secret code dialing) was disabled in my phone. Following guides from Google search I enabled it. Now codes likes "*#06#",*#1111#", "*#0228#" etc are working, but "*#272*IMEI#" is not working. Any idea, why it is not working?

Well, it looks to me as though you've locked your bootloader and are now stuck on 4.4.2. For some reason, Verizon forces Samsung to lock their bootloaders, which means we (the consumers) cannot install "custom" firmware on our devices (or downgrade).
Once you're on 4.4.2 NE1 your stuck with it. No downgrade possible at least not without a Jtag service

Lost LTE when i enabled tethering using SQLite Editor (settings.db)

Hi,
I'am facing a big problem with my D800 LG G2
I wanted to enable tethering , so i followed instructions given here
It was a seccus enabling tehtring but when i tried to connect to LTE i was only receiving HSPAP
I did everything possible to enable LTE but in vain ( Try 2nd SIM card, Go back to JB stock Rom , make changes in Hidden menu, ..)
I think i made bad changes in Setting.db file and i can not restore original file.
Can anyone help me to restore defaut settings in this file or give me some advice to correct make change in hidden menu.
I run Stock rooted LL actually
I saw in the same thread , someone faced the same issue and resolved it by flashing T-Mobile stock Lollipop
"Flash back to kitkat and still no LTE using Simple Mobile. It must be just my phone! Guess they are not build equally!
Try everything I know how to no success and then I flash the T-Mobile stock Lollipop and LTE connected, Wow. Stupid AT&T have to remove the network type selector from us. It available to international G2 as well."
Is it safe to flash Tmobile stock ?

Sprint S5 (g900p) MM 6.0.1 QA2 stock odex, native hotspot issue

Hey!
i have problem with my hotspot...
Flashed with odin last PL2 and OTA to QA2, rooted and unlocked hotspot with idones.apk 3.1.8.
Now, "Hotspot" in settings menu. I can activate hotspot, but cant to connect with another device. Stuck on "Obtaining IP adress". If i connect with static IP, doesnt work internet and any data for share. Hotspot icon disappears from notification panel.
pls help anyone... i have tried to edit services.jar and apns to "dun".
if hotspot is something you use a lot, install @tdunham 's ROM and you will never look back! It's PK1, but it doesn't really matter much. I have been more than happy with that rom.

Thanks... I have used that ROM. Hotspot didn`t work. @tdunham said that hotspot works only on sprint carrier. I am using my phone in Central Asia on another carrier. Is there anyone uses hotspot with another carrier?
P.S. on lollipop i could unlock hotspot with idonesapp, but not work on marshmallow.

Yea, I use virgin mobile (subsidiary of sprint) when i am in USA, but I also use the same phone (G900p) in Europe with Vodafone (using it right now). I did a clean flash of his rom, and hotspot works just fine with vodafone. I can also go to More Networks->mobile networks->access point names, and I am able to add/modify my own APNs (I am also able to modify apn by typing ##3282#->view, just like I used to do it in lollipop).

Volte s7 from s9

Hello my operator started volte only on s9 so i extracted home csc from s9 and copied customer.xml pasted to csc folder but still not working. Or we need to flash modem too? Which files are related for volte to working i want to have early before they release.for s7 Or is device related
Thanks
Bump
Don't mess with the files unless you know what you are doing ! (you obviously not).
If your operator haven't enabled VoLTE for SM-G930, there is nothing you can do, only change operator, or phone.

If i could jump in here.
Volte isn't anything to do with csc, it's dependant on the operater enabling on the network and the firmware your device is running.
If your firmware is branded by the network this is how it can be enabled for specific devices and not yours , if your firmware isn't branded then the network operator cannot disable on your device. Unbranded firmware has all call functions enabled by default including Volte.
Some network operators even link functions to IMEI, if this is the case the only option is to change the phone.

I have custom rom, if volte work for s9 should work for s7 too, so how they fix it? Volte on other devices , by updating firmware of course. Is firmware related not phone . They dont have compatibility to disable for some devices the tower is for all so they cant disable band.
But i will try to fix it i wont give up :good:
Working on SM-G930FD with Mint Mobile USA
Hi there,
I thought that I would share my findings. I got volte working on G930FD. The setting comes up under Connections --> Mobile Networks --> VoLTE calls. I have tested it with calls and LTE Discovery app to make sure that I am not dropping back down to 3g/H+/etc... The calls are so much better for me. I am hard of hearing, so it really helped me. I will list how I did it below.
1. Download this firmware. https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s7/firmware/SM-G930F/ROM/download/G930FXXS8ETC3/327944/
2. Use Odin v3.14.4 to flash BL, AP, CP, CSC ( I used CSC not HOME CSC)
3. Boot phone and enable developer mode (not sure if necessary, but this is the way I did it)
4. Reboot to download mode and flash TWRP (uncheck auto reboot)
5. Immediately after flash, reboot to recovery (Power, Volume down, Home to reboot, then Power, Volume up, Home to enter TWRP)
6. Swipe to allow modifications
7. Wipe--> Advanced Wipe --> Select Data --> Repair or Change File System --> Change File System --> EXT2 --> go back --> and then EXT 4 --> back all the way to main screen.
8. Install --> latest version of Magisk
9. Install --> CSCSelection_V3.0.0.zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957
10. Aroma --> Select XXA (Multi USA) --> Select XAA (Unbranded)
11. Reboot and wait to boot (Takes a few minutes)
12. Check in Connections --> Mobile Networks --> VoLTE Calls
That's it. Good luck!!
Oh yeah, Wifi calling is in the dialer app under settings, but I have had no luck with it, even though Mint Mobile supports it.
