I bought a new external usb device with dual interface, and it is not working on my Motorola Driod Ultra Mini. I am on Kit Kat 4.4.4 and As I connect my external device, nothing happens. Even in "Storage", The "USB DISK" Option (MOUNT USB On-TheGo storage is diabled (greyed out).
The amount of research I have done on this problem is some says It will not work on my phone as google and my andriod version are not compatible with the OTG Support and some says rooting the phone can do the trick.
Rooting, on the other hand, is troubling me , my device is showing offline in adb cmd. Though I am stil trying.
If any one is head up for any solution , I would be more than thankful.

Hi Guys - After an unsuccessful attempt to find a solution to connect one andoid to another through USB, I am posting this thread hoping to find a solution from the XDA gods
Problem:- I have a Xperia x10 (Rooted Android) and a Transfomer (Unrooted Android), now when I connect my Xperia to the tab, the Xperia recognises the connection and prompts to mount the SD card. After mounthing the card, I am unable to browse the contents of the phone card in my tab. Actually the tab fails to recognise the phone card as external memory card.
Is there any application that will enable Android to Android file sharing through USB?
Thanks In Advance
Mount it manually in Settings>Storage>Mount USBDisk x.
It does not mount automatically.
If that does not work, try Multi-Mount SD on your Xperia.
If still won't work, it will be a ROM related problem on your phone.
Mine works fine - HTC Desire Root/S-OFF on MIUI XJ - unrooted TF
Hi,
This is my first post so bear with me ...
I have recently purchased Moto G and was trying out OTG functionality. I have brought a USB 3.0 16gb pen drive and formatted it in FAT32 File system and trying to connect to Moto G using a OTG cable (USB 2.0) but it is giving an error "USB storage is blank or has unsupported filesystem"
I recently tried out with 8gb USB 2.0 pen drive an it was working fine.
Can you please advice what could be the issue here and how to fix this?
Thanks,
Mukund

I believe the 16gb USB3.0 pen drive you have is backwards compatible I.e, it also supports USB2.0
Then the problem is with the file system of the pendrive ... Stock moto g ROMs doesn't detect NTFS USB devices... You should change it to fat32 and try

Thanks, But I already have FAT32 as the file system for my pen drive. Is there is a posibility that Moto g / OTG cable doesn't have capability to transfer date as 3.0 speeds or backward compatibility should take care of it ?
Will it help if I have a OTG-USB 3.0 cable, or it will also have the same issue may be due to Moto G limitation?
Thanks,
Mukund

As your phone supports USB 2.0, I think that's why you are facing problem with USB 3. pen drive.
As far I know, USB port is related to hardware. So, probably you won't be able to upgrade your USB 2.0 to USB 3.0, but I am not sure.

hmm..It is possible, But I am not sure what is the phone capability. I thought moto G may have support for connecting to USB 3.0 using OTG-USB 3.0 cable, which is recently introduced in market. I did some google research on the same but could not find out if there is some intrinsic limitation of Moto G with USB 3.0..
I bought an otg cable from flipkart yesterday..
When I connect any pen drive it is showing damaged USB drive or blank USB drive.. I am really frustrated..

format it and try to make sure it works with another device to confirm its working then double check you have all the right stuff enabled in yout moto g.
eg usb debugging, root status, busybox perhaps., ect.
I have tried with 2 pen drives. Both working perfectly on pc..
My phone is not rooted. What is usb debugging??

Don't need root, busy box or usb debugging set.
What file system format are the drives? You need FAT32 for best compatibility between devices.
I have formatted the pen drive in fat32.. When I connect any pen drive in moto g, it is showing ' Damaged USB storage'
And in the notification area 'USB storage is damaged. Try formatting it'
When I try to format from moto g, screen goes black for 2 second and nothing happens..
Really fed up... I have not rooted my phone.. It is running kit kat
Please help me

Hello, I need to ask if the Alcatel One Touch Pop C5 (unrooted) is able to use a USB on the Go cable? I've searched the internet and have found nothing. However, I have used an OTG checker app and it claims that the phone is able to use USB OTG. I've also found in the "Storage" settings that it has the function to access external USB storage. Is this the same as USB on the go?
Thanks if you can answer.
