Hello everyone, I am new to this forum , my first thread here , so be nice , etc.
My first touch phone was a Samsung Galaxy SII back in 2011, that the phone was working perfectly until I saw all the themes on the web , downgrades , upgrades and such. I accidentally kill my unit twice, So I had to file it for $ 35 I think. Today, I can not charge it at all, in the hole where you insert the end of the charger for it to start charging , where loose it. It may fall out out cell phone at any time , so it 's no use I use ODIN anymore.
The third time I killed my Galaxy S2 I bought the Galaxy Nexus the day after, I was so happy, it's the theme I always wanted and blah blah.
But after almost 7-8 months, it slowly ........... Slow responding when typing , slow to open applications , lagging on any games that should not be .
So I decided to downgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.5 for maximum longevity takes less on device performance.
BUT ! I do not do it directly on my Nexus , since I dont want to take the risk to kill it, so I wanted to downgrade my galaxy S2 from 4.1.2 to 2.3.5 , becase I do not even care about the phone.
And my galaxy lose few perfect for a few minutes without using it , so the charge would be pointless .
My GF also has her own GS2 , and we charge my battery with hers phone that way.
But any idea?
My nexus is really slow, and I want to increase the battery life ..
now days i dont care about the theme or design, just a performance, as the delay is my enemy.

I'm afraid your in the wrong section - if you want to increase performance and battery life on your GNex, go and have a look at the Galaxy Nexus forums Custom ROMs and kernels will help you increase those two

I love the note 3, nearly everything im looking for in a phone, but I want cyanogenmod, and there isnt an easy way to install it from a ma yet.
I like the HTC ONE, but im afraid it may be too outdated maybe?

Nexus 5 has too short of battery life from what I read, same with moto X

anyone care to help me?
With Franco Kernel, the nexus 5 has better battery life than any other phone I've had bar none. So don't worry about battery life if you don't mind flashing a kernel.

Also no one can tell YOU what phone to buy for YOU. YOU have to compare specs, find out which features are important to you, what kind of UI if any you like, the reliability of the manufacturer, the construction of case, size of screen, camera capabilities...Why have someone tell you what kind of phone you will be stuck with for awhile?
No. No one can help you, we are on the nexus 5 forums due to being fans of nexus, so most of us will say nexus. You've already stated you're not interested in the nexus 5 due to a misconstrued idea about "poor battery life" so your in the wrong forum altogether.

Then buy one and shut up. Every post you make (and I mean EVERY post) is dissing the Nexus 5. We get it. Sell it and go away.

This should have been your only post then...It could of simply been "I found this thread and maybe that will help your decision"
I am sorry for posting in thread but you have not read my PM. Now your campaign and complaints against the Nexus 5 stops here. I recommend you go to your carrier's website and post on the community there if you feel like you need to persuade others not to purchase that phone. 99% of the people reading your posts here already have the phone so your constant tirade of complaining posts only serve to annoy.
This is a development site made by developers for developers. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I feel being the only satisfied N5 owner around. I NEVER ran out of battery but I don't go through the day playing games or looking at videos, (some people have to work...)
If you already have a Note3, just keep it ! it's a very very desirable phone , like the N5 is for half the money.

quote. when nexus 5 was launched he has same issues like battery life, speacker volume but everything is solvable with roms!!
my battery life (with franco kernel) is awesome.. (2d and 17/18h)
nexus 5 is the best one for me in this moment.
The Nexus 5 has always attract me but now is still worth buying it?
What can i do with a Nexus 5 that i can't do with the newest coming phones like the New Moto X or the Z3 Compact?
What is its unique features that i can do only with it? (I speak about particular mod/tweaks that change the experience of the phone)
Now is there some mod/fix for the duration of the battery and for a better camera experience?
Thanks :good::good::good:
Another useless thread.. We've already made our decisions.. haven't we? That's why we are on the Nexus 5 forum and everyone will suggest you to get a Nexus 5. If you ask the same question in the HTC One section, they'll suggest you to get the m8 and so on.. I really don't see any point in these threads at all.
The areas where nexus devices will always be ahead of others are Timely&latest Updates and tons of development!
Surf other device's forums.. then search some more and make up your mind. If I were you, I would wait for the next nexus since this phone's already 10 months old.

What are the other phones with easily unlockable bootloader like nexus ,one plus ,moto & good development of roms ?
Nexus, oneplus and moto , theres a few others out there, the oneplus 3 looks really nice , not sure but 6gigs seems overkill , but who cares right? What i always crack up about is these guys who buy dev phones and dont use them , in other words they may as well have a samsung or other carrier model

Those are the main brands and its not that surprising. The real reason that's happening more nowadays is dev phones are becoming more mainstream as they push for higher sales from the general public and majority of people aren't concerned with modding and tinkering with their phones.
They want to use a phone with stock software and get timely updates, as well as if they get bored they can unlock their phones without voiding warranty and flash custom software. There's a major increase in noobs in threads who mess up their phone or can't do basic things and ask repetitive questions (all info is available in guides in the respective forums) . It's become a big mess in all forums. Can't imagine how bad it would be if they all started using custom ROMs
i agree , im constantly reading , im in the nexus 6p forum going nuts , it was relatively easy to unlock the 1+1 bl and yet for a nexus device it seems to be a chore already , not sure why , could be drivers in win 10 or something else , not sure yet
Hi,
The Oneplus One was a great phone, it's been almost 4 years but it's the end, I broke it, the screen and the camera ... broken, the screen isn't responding anymore, the frame all around is in bad shape too .... I took care of it, there was no scratch, but i broke it at work trying to fix desk -_-
First of all I want to thanks the xda Oneplus One community, it's been fun ... Cyanogen 4.4 KitKat to Android Oreo 8.1 Always someone to help, with developers who do their utmost to give us the best :good: .
I'm actually using my old Nexus 4 for now but i'm thinking to buy the Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus.
Do you guys have a suggestion for a new phone that I can buy ??? (The Oneplus Five is too expensive for me unfortunately )
PS: English is not my native language, sorry for any spelling mistakes
PS: Just realized i'm in the wrong section -_- should be in "ONE Q&A, HELP & TROUBLESHOOTING", Sorry about that
hi,
i had a oneplus one too until recently, i got a xiaomi mi a1. i can recommend it!
Hello,
I have the oneplus one from 4 year old too and it work perfectly (never change any parts).
I think change for the new oneplus six, but seriously I don't need more, the one is good for me.
Big thanks to the xda community, for developers, this smartphone survive a long time.
I've considered changing too, but I finally decided to keep my one a couple of years more (if possible). This said, right now I would pick Redmi 5 Plus in the lower tier, Nokia 7 Plus in the middle one or LG v30 as top device at a good price.
Good luck with your choice, but keep in mind nothing will actually replace your One. It was like the girl of your like ??
Budget phone definitely Xiaomi Mi A1
I would recommend Xiaomi mi6 or if you can wait for mi7 (This would be my choises if my bacon got rotten)

Both the parts(screen and camera) are available on eBay. Replace yourself and bring your OPO back to life. Anyway, going for Redmi Note 5(3gb variant) or Redmi Note 5 Pro would be a better choice than Redmi 5 Plus. The former one costs just a little over Redmi 5 Plus.
I'm quite interested in MiA1 or maybe Nokia 6 2018
I'm still using my OPO sinc oct 2014, even if i dropped it in the water( only the front camera broke, even after changing it iti didnt get fixed, maybe it's something else like the connector or a resistance ...) and i was planning to change it for the 1+6 but after seeing it will have a notch i changed my mind and i hope my opo will survive another 2 years lool because sincerly it's a beast, if i compare it to phones from the same year( Z2, S5, M8) it's the only one who is still working perfectly and smoothly( i see my friends whith the phones i'vve mentionned strugling lol), thanks to this incredibly community, so i hope i don't brake it or get stolen or brake itself for another 2 years, but for you what can i say, cant' you for exemple find a used 3T?? it's a very good phone even if it's not the new one
The great thing about Oneplus One has been the developer community which has been keeping the phone after so many years.
Does any current phone has such a developer community?
Xiaomi note 5 pro is a good budget phone with good camera.Heard Mi A2 is expected to launch next month but has a less battery and may not have support of Google.
Essential phone has been on sale in various countries.. check it out.
I would highly suggest Nokia phones otherwise.. budget + fastest updates after Google pixel series of course.

Nokia would have been a very good choice only if they allowed unlocking bootloader and released kernel sources of all their devices.
Source - https://www.xda-developers.com/hmd-global-kernel-sources-bootloader-unlocking/
They released kernel sources for a few devices but still no official way to unlock bootloader.
