[Q] Hi, I'm new. Problems with Both SGS2 & SGN One - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum , my first thread here , so be nice , etc.
My first touch phone was a Samsung Galaxy SII back in 2011, that the phone was working perfectly until I saw all the themes on the web , downgrades , upgrades and such. I accidentally kill my unit twice, So I had to file it for $ 35 I think. Today, I can not charge it at all, in the hole where you insert the end of the charger for it to start charging , where loose it. It may fall out out cell phone at any time , so it 's no use I use ODIN anymore.
The third time I killed my Galaxy S2 I bought the Galaxy Nexus the day after, I was so happy, it's the theme I always wanted and blah blah.
But after almost 7-8 months, it slowly ........... Slow responding when typing , slow to open applications , lagging on any games that should not be .
So I decided to downgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.5 for maximum longevity takes less on device performance.
BUT ! I do not do it directly on my Nexus , since I dont want to take the risk to kill it, so I wanted to downgrade my galaxy S2 from 4.1.2 to 2.3.5 , becase I do not even care about the phone.
And my galaxy lose few perfect for a few minutes without using it , so the charge would be pointless .
My GF also has her own GS2 , and we charge my battery with hers phone that way.
But any idea?
My nexus is really slow, and I want to increase the battery life ..
now days i dont care about the theme or design, just a performance, as the delay is my enemy.

I'm afraid your in the wrong section - if you want to increase performance and battery life on your GNex, go and have a look at the Galaxy Nexus forums Custom ROMs and kernels will help you increase those two

Hey...well im Egyptian too. good to see u here, this phone is great, only few unfortunate customers got buggy devices, just make ur mind up, if u want better looks and camera go for neo v . im using this phone from around 6 months and i have no problem till yet...and im happy with it, only problem is the battery drain...Salaam
gt i9003 is a mid to high end phone with a good price tag (costs a bit less than galaxy ace in some stores!) and it a good phone for normal everday usage. The battery life is great, the battery can last for 3 days if you are normal user, mine is celebrating its 4th day
Its very worth its price, only if you are unfortunate and get a buggy device. Normally 1 change of the motherboard and it'll be alright
Cheers

This phone is definitely worth buying especially now our development community has grown so much recently
i recommend the 9000
it has a much bigger community and therefore more roms
from what i heard a working ics rom too
depends on the price you pay!
If its under 300 US$ (without contract, of course), its worth every penny!
If its above this pricetag, i wouldnt bother with it since its a rather old device with not much developer support

well we can't say that its grown bec. dev's come and go mainly bec. not much people have this device compared to the galaxy S and S2 but there is progress on custom roms on this device. But it all goes down to how much you want to pay. For me it's definitely worth every damn cent.

I think it´s a great phone to buy.
It works well, I like the battery capacitiy (mine lasts between 1,5 or 2 days.), you can install lots of roms and updates easily.
Its a pretty good phone , good for the price too. i bought it to get into Android and i fell in love with the OS , i always hated Apple and their products so Android came to the rescue.. Samsung support for this model however sucks but the community is always building custom roms and fixing things up so its pretty well worth it..

New phone, help?

ok iI need some suggestions from people that actually know what they are talking about rather that reading some top 10 best blog on the web. I'm in the market for a New phone (Verizon) to replace my Droid Bionic. sound clarity is a must, fast processor dual or quad? big screen and rootable with decent Rom dev support.
Basically the phone is used for mainly business type apps, remote desktop, vpn etc. keeping up with my eBay bids bank balances on the go and just tinkering with the new roms and apps the devs entertained with. II do have aa couple of tablets (Asus Tf300t and aa galaxy tab 2 7") so the main priority for the phone is that it should work excellent as a phone. Clear, good signal reception, and good hands free operation (speaker phone, Bluetooth etc). aa large sd capacity also... iI know when iI got my last phone 16gg was almost standard but 32gg would be better
oh, also aa decent camera, I'm kinda a shutter-bug
so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, then iI can take your suggestions and do some in depth research and make an informed choice.
thank you for your time
ignore the errors, using Swype and it messes up a lot of words
With the criteria you are going for I would suggest a HTC one X or a SGSIII which I am currently using. Sorry if my suggestions are bad I'm new to this as well.
rhe galaxy nexus is the best for you...it is easy to use verry fast in update and has a very decent 5 megapxl camera which act like 8+ mega pxl because of its quality...it has no shutter lag the time you oress the button the time it takes goodluck

I agree
I have to agree with you on the Galaxy Nexus. Apart from all the features you've mentioned, its also a google designed and supported phone so it is supported and kept up by google meaning you have priority access to all new android OS releases

hi aaxiss! i've a galaxy nexus, and i advice you to buy it. you know google product=full supported :fingers-crossed: and olso devs start developing from it, so you have more rom, and stable first of all, to try i wish you have a good choose
Nexus or the SGSIII, SGSIII had bags of power
A decision has been made for you by these guys, of course including me  galaxy nexus
I have a galaxy Nexus and it's been a pretty dam good phone for the past 7 mouths. But since I loaded Jelly Bean 4.1.1 it's been a really great phone! Supper fast and smooth. So for the price I don't think you can beet it.

I was just able to get a GNex as a replacement for my Stratosphere. I saw this topic and its replies and it honestly made my day. Thanks guys. So yeah... go with the Nexus!

thank you everyone for your input, II have ordered the Gnex today ended up getting 2 of them for 99.00 ii have my mom on my acct an age has wanted aa smart phone for aa long time. ii have her an older moto droid xx and kept both new phones so ii can play around without worry. ii just flashed the droid back to base rom. if she really gets into it I'll get her aa better phone.
Although she is already complaining it's hard for her to read the tiny letters [email protected] the learning curve for her is going to be long I'm thinking. she has had the same Motorola flip phone for 4 years and just learned how to put it on speaker phone aa month ago lol.
any way.. thanks again for the help
oh as a side note ii also ordered aa Google nexus 7 tablet today for on the go android goodness as my transformer is just too big and bulky and it also has aa broken power button (stopped working after it got aa glass of water spoiled on it).
got my phones yesterday. just what ii wanted great phone.thanks again for the suggestions
If you are going to tinker with ROMs, Galaxy Nexus is the best choice. It is a Google flagship product, so it is used as a base for development of the new versions of Android. That is a guarantee of staying always up to date with new AOSP ROMs - and, surely, of the best support possible from the development community.
Regards.

Hi there ! New Galaxy NOTE user.

Hi i've been on this site forever but never been much of a poster ! Started with the classic Galaxy on android 1.5 then went for the Galaxy S , had a ton of HTC's and then the Galaxy S 2 , broke the screen after a few days , back to a galaxy S , broke the screen as well . Just got a note .. and the screen is already broken too !! Ho well , i guess i should not have those phones with my kind of jackassy lifestyle.
Anyway ! Love the forum , very very useful when it comes to rom info/download.
Looking forward to some great roms on the NOTE !
Yeah dude.....You need to buy stock in Otterbox. That is all.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
I am right there with you. I break my phone way too often. I need a Nextel or something lol.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
that's a lot of screen breaking lol
Thing is i always get otterbox with my phones. Been working for Bell (montreal) telecom and i get them cost so its worth it .. Sometimes otterbox is like 100$ so ita always better cost. But the screens still break. My note can survive a while cause the crack is like covering 5% screen one long ass line goin thru the kb area. Anyway !! They should start makink huge phones with screens like the nokia c series. Bashed em with scissors/keys and whatnot and they never break. Minor scratches. Would be 200$ more on the phone but 300% worth it !!

How do you like your note?
Pretty good actually . Speed could be better since its a dual 1.4 but it does what it does. Issues with some games that display wrong textures etc. But the s pen is useful to me in PS touch/Autodesk sketchup when i go meet clients and pre scribble som logos while brainstorming. Cant wait for another version of a big phone with the same or better featurea. Id go up to 6inch i think . After that its kind of retarded to call it a phone.

And when i say started off . Of course i mean the whole rooting/custom rom thingy. My first phone was prehistoric like 5pounds manpurse style. portability was the main concern there !!

Not Worth it. Go for a Defy instead.
And once you decide to buy i9003, then you will probably need to change your id too, you will no longer remain cool.

I would have offered u my phone which is 1.4 yrs old but still in excellent condition. But I can't because of some personal reasons.
Bro don't buy this phone if you already had it go switch it up or something get a second hand nexus like someone else said or a second hand s2 trust me it's screen is amazing I would rather go with S2's screen then S3's higher resolution screen. S2's screen is amazingly clear, great color, truly vibrant color.

And an amazing burn in effect after 2 months of use.
Just get the nexus/S3 or just this device.. depends on your wallet.
Just saying, you'll probably find no one willing to sell you a device here, because the chance of being in the same place is slim, thus requiring annoying shipping costs and hassle, buying/selling a used one from shops is easier.
MY OPINION: If you can get the nexus/S3 used or new, get them and DO NOT ever think about this damned device again.
Come on guys. This phone isn't that bad. I don't see a need to be so negative about this phone.
I don't have any major issues with this phone. It worked very well for me on almost all ROMs that I've tried.
Of course this phone is not i9000 or i9100. And we all knew it when we bought it substantially cheaper than those models. Stop complaining and enjoy the moment (partially working video recording with CM9)

Everytime i update my SCL i feel like i bought i new phone! ICS works pretty good and day after day it becames always better and if understood correctly Dhiru is porting JB, so it' not over
Our phone us not that much bad in my opinion
i think our phone is better than i9000 expect gpu and development. if i9003 was an international model instead of i9000 we could have better roms STABLE including JB with much more developers. but just gpu is lower a bit.

Most of the replies on this forum will favor the Nexus 5 for obvious reasons With that said, the N5 is a great bang for your buck, especially if you are unable to get the S5. And the development community is very strong
Just BUY IT!
As you like Samsung as you said, you will miss some specific features you will not find on the N5. Me personaly i like vanilla android better then TW and don`t miss a thing. But maybe something to consider when you buy a phone..
Buy the phone that helps you read sticky threads at the top of boards. Big plus if it prevents you from putting questions in the general section.

Asking here is pointless, as already said. Obviously we're biased. Lol
Just read about each in their forum sections and on the web....and decide.
If you want tonnes of development... N5 is the clear choice. If you don't care, get what suits your needs best.

I've switched from S2 to N5 week ago. Nexus 5 is really amazing phone! I've never seen so smooth and responsive android phone. Of course, nexus 5 is not ideal - GPS is far from perfect and battery life is not impressive. But overall I'm quite happy from my new phone. I still have my S2, but it's so laggy
I have both a Nexus 5 and a Note 3. Love the Nexus 5 way more, I barely use my Note 3.

I did too, but for GPS and battery life it's in both cases a very big upgrade. Can't compare to the Note 3 or S4 though as I didn't had those ones...

Just in terms of battery life...the S4 is not away...but I assume that the note 3 yes. It has a bigger battery and a bigger backlight...but not a "bigger" and all the rest.
