Is there a way to stop it? Lol I booted into download mode atm. I was waiting for a 5.1.1 Root to flash and left the update notification on my phone for awhile.. Must have accidentally pressed a button or two.

MY power button no longer works. My phone is still unlocked but since the official OTA came out I flashed back to unrooted stock and got the OTA and left the phone alone for a while.
Now I can't flash anything in fastboot it just says waiting for device. I can't even navigate through the fastboot menus on the phone with the volume rocker. Think it has something to do with the power button.
How do I get around this?
Please move to q & a ....

Take it to a repair center and have them fix it. I had the same problem. It will come and go. Mine stopped working, started back working and finally, quit again. If u have insurance the process should be fairly simple
Hey ppl.
I got a Nexus S and his power button does not work for a week now. Since i got it still on warranty i decided to get it to samsung service.
I was using SlimBean so it was ok with volume rocker as a wake the device action. Since Samsung wanted the phone to be stock and locked i decided to do it. I found the stock rom, i flashed it, and here is when the problem started. I flashed the rom the way i flashed every other "custom" rom, via ClockWorkMod. Then, trying to also lock the bootloader i found this. I installed the device drivers again etc etc and when the program says "Checking Fast Boot Status" everything stops. The phone is not responding (can't move up and down with volume roker) and i have to pull the battery to reset it. Thankfully when i put the battery back in the phone starts up itself so no need for power button
So what can i do? Whats wrong with my bootloader?? Is there any way to install a custom recovery again, to have a rom with volume key unlock and leave the power button as it is? (reminder : phone is back to stock and no superuser, cwm or anything)
Appreciate any help !
New phone for me, long stupid story but it was my only acceptable upgrade. Picked it up from sprint and they "helped" me out and did the 5.1.1 update.:crying:
My problem is when I boot into DL mode Odin will add it on the volume up/ down screen but once I hit volume up Odin says it's removed. At a loss here. Not sure if it's a security thing or some other bs. Any ideas?
Put this device into download mode first.
Sounds like you are doing this nearly correctly. But... Be sure that USB debugging is on, make sure that you have all of the proper Samsung drivers installed, and go into DL mode before you attach to the computer.

Ok so volume down + home button is download mode to flash things via Odin.
Volume Up + home button will bring you to Recovery.
Download your stock firmware from here or here
And flash it with Odin in download mode to unbrick your device.
After OTA update device got stuck on Google logo and somehow recovery is missing, Android on it's back with red triangle
Is there way to fix it with locked bootloader ?
Can't find any help
Thanks
With the android in his back, hold power button, press volume up.
Ouch, now I feel stupid, thanks!
Don't feel bad, I was in the same situation when I started playing with my nexus 4. Glad you got it working.
