Google has started testing streaming apps! This allows you to use an app without ever actually downloading the app. The app is streamed through Google search. If your search turns up an app in the results there will be an option to stream the app. This cloud based technology will allow you to experience the app as if it were fully installed on your device.
This could be huge for anyone who owns a phone with little to no memory. This could also mean that phones of the future may ship with even less memory built in. Could you imagine a future where google charges you for a box where you house your streaming apps? Hopefully this is not anything Google is considering. It seems to be a pretty awesome feature. It will work as long as you are on wifi. Head to Google and check it out!
Hi everyone!
I wanted to check in and see if anyone knows that it may be possible to get Play Music on our speaker sporting watches at least with All Access streaming as now we have all the tools to do so including wifi and speaker support and would love to be able to stop having to sync specific albums to the storage all the time to use it. This would be a pretty popular app and I would definitely pay for one like this.
Anyone else think they would enjoy a mod or app like this to play music. I think spotify can do this on the watch but I don't have a subscription to spotify and wanna stick with my google play music. :highfive:
I am currently on a Huawei Watch.
So, a quick off the cuff maybe may be in order...
Here is why...
First, those of us without speakers may not miss out on this either what with full Bluetooth support already here. ...
Second, we can already install apps using adb. We can also install those appsm to specific folders. This is easier with watches thatmplkug in through USB, but all wear watches support adb so installing the Google software is possible. We can probably install play music directly.
Third, though our watches do not all have native direct wifi support, many do, and I am guessing it is going to be supported by the 1.4 OS. However, even if it is not, if you install an app in your /system folder, it can access wifi directly as it needs.
Fourth, and here is where the good news ends... Google play music is not a stand alone app. It relies on Google play services, and they are to say the least, complicated. We have them on the watch to communicate to the phone, but not the full version. So, I have no idea how well the app will install, let alone work. Likewise, Google only allows developers to access certain libraries and play music has not released any (to my knowledge) for Wear other than the typical hooks for controlling your music.
So, all of this adds up to a maybe...

I want to control Netflix, Hulu and YouTube from another device. Why....
I have a lot of old smart phones that don't serve much purpose any more. So I took one and strapped it to the back of the head rest in my car. I did this to stream movies for my toddler son who rides in the back.
The problem I had was when the movie stopped or he wanted to watch something else. It was a hassle to reach back and change the movie. Then my idea for Cast Launcher was conceived.
Cast launcher lets me control a device from my device from anywhere in the world. So if I want to change the movie playing on the device in the back seat of my car. I can by selecting Netflix / Hulu / Youtube from the Cast Launcher menu. Then I just find the movie i want and cast, and send it to one of the devices connected to my Cast Launcher account.
Setup is easy as 1, 2, 3.
Start the app and you will be presented with an account selection box listing the email accounts found on your device.
(1) Select an account or choose to enter in an email address you have access to.
(2) Think of a unique nick name for your device and enter it.
After completing steps 1 and 2 an email will be sent to you with a pin number
(3) Verify this pin number by entering it in the app.
Now you are ready to add as many devices as you wish. They must all share the same email address and pin, but must each have unique nick name.
From here the fun begins.
After adding one or more devices you will be able to choose one of them from a list after you choose an action to perform.
Actions include:
*Casting Movies / TV Shows and other Videos from Netflix, Hulu or YouTube
To cast from Netflix or Hulu you do not need Hulu or Netflix on your device just on the remote device.
To cast from YouTube you can choose to share a video from the YouTube app and select Cast Launcher when presented with the share menu.
Open an app on a remote device from a list of apps.
View app descriptions that were found on the remote device by long pressing an item from the app list.
Use voice commands to search Netflix and Hulu
Send Voice messages to a receiving device
Use voice commands to play music from streaming players or videos on the remote device
Launch web URLs on the receiving device by using the share button from any browser.
Will work on most devices running Android KitKat and above. Including Phones, Tablets, TV's, TV Boxes with Android, *Cars with Android Auto (untested) and More...

Useless
This is a useless app that doesn’t do anything, and feels slightly sketchy..
Hello,
I'm new here. I am a professional Java dev, but I have no experience with development on Android.
I'd like to implement an app which allows for saving bookmarks of youtube videos on a mobile device. By a bookmark I mean saving a particular moment of a video being watched (like a youtube link with t=123s param). My idea is to create an overlay which interacts with a google native youtube app.
My question is, what types of information can I get from the overlaid app? I'd like to extract somehow the link to the exact moment of the video. Do apps allow to interact with them in this way? I suspect that there is no "easy" way (like some API call) to get the link from the youtube app, but maybe I could perform couple of clicks (in behalf of the user) to get a pure link (without the time param) and then extract the exact moment of the video by analysing the progress bar of the video being watched. Does it make sense to you?
What are your suggestions to implement this kind of functionality? I'd like to make it as easy as possible from the perspective of the user who watches youtube videos using the native google youtube app.
Best,
Tomek
Hello! Thank you for your interest in the program coolRecorder!
First of all, let me note that I am not only a programmer, but also a musician and the main reason for creating this application is the desire to quickly and more or less accurately record the rehearsals of my rock band. Well, you know: musicians often invent new songs during long jams and it's hard to keep everything in my head. I searched for a long time, but I did not find a beautiful and convenient solution to this problem for myself, so I decided to create it myself.
What could be easier - I just press one button on my Wear OS watch to start recording! My smartphone can be located anywhere in the room and I do not need direct access to it. At the same time, I can pause and continue recording at any moment all the same right from my watch.
Record voice, music - anything with this fast, beautiful and convenient application. Share your records on social networks and messengers.
Ready-made presets will allow you to record voice, live music, or just your surroundings with the highest quality. For devices with Android 7.x and higher, a raw recording preset is available.
No advertisement, no donation, no internet connection required. This app simply does it's job - records sound.
I find this application really useful and I hope you will find it useful too. I also tried to make the application beautiful and simple enough so that you wouldn’t need instructions and tips to start using it.
