solved - A little help with github - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First I'd like to say sorry to the mods if this is in the wrong section.
I'm trying to build cm12.1 from source but would like to build with nightlies, how do I go about doing that once I've successfully built an official version?
I apologize if this is extremely straight forward but I'm just following CM wiki for the most part.

Solved - I was having trouble with repo and after posting this, I realised how silly it was of me before reevaluating my build setup.
Edit - big face palm, mods please close. Sorry!

Advantages of compiling code?

So recently i have gotten seriously interested in the behind the scenes work that our great devs do here. I want to become a dev. I searched Google for how to compile cm7 for my phone and i got to the wiki. But why? They have a cm7 build for my phone already. What's the point of compiling vs flashing atinm's? What can i do to make it better? Or more personal. I couldn't find any threads on xda about this. Also any guides you would recommend for a wanna be dev ?
Thanks guys

Here you can find everything you want know...
The point is to sync the source and snoop around and see how things work.
From there try and bring improvements and submit upstream.
Syncing/building is the first step.
For something like this, unless you want to hack CM or AOSP, you should just use the official CM builds that are published.

Re: CM10

Re: CM10
The other cm10 post I saw in here was closed and i couldn't find another. Sorry anyways ...
I cant post a reply in any of the cm10 threads so I'll ask here...and I know why I can't post its well understood...that being said
My questions are...I see there is a 8/7 build for cm10 as cm10 beta...I am running alpha a1...is the alpha a1 more stable than beta?
Also in that thread it was mentioned that the camera on the 8/7 build was not working but it works just fine on alpha a1 which is why I asked the question above.
Im sure through all of that you all know what I am asking.
I downloaded alpha a1 from team chopsticks site if that matters
Just need some info.
I like the feel of this rom its very well built....big thanks to the developers
And my last question right now is does anyone know what will be added to this rom in the coming future aside from fixes....
I.e. mods tweaks etc?
Next device I will be playing with will be the galaxy note anyone have one and have any tips on what may be not so good about that device?
Thanks in advance for all the help and tips from everyone who responds or has responded...greatly appreciated and again sorry for all the noobie questions.
:good:
Attached is a screen shot of my home screen using the cm cobalt red theme...with black adw icon package and nova launcher...BTW is the stock launcher better than nova...perks n differences???

I know I look stupid when I ask these things but I would like to know things as I go along with the processes. I enjoy everything about modding and rom flashing etc. This is my first device and will not be my last. Which is why I am getting as much knowledge and opinions as possible I know you guys help a lot of people and I'm not a stupid person just a person who is cautious and curious...thanks again guys.
There's a shot attached...stock launcher same theme settings.

Porting the ig9300 to the i535

Is this possible?
I really want the latest Miui
miui[dot]com/a-203.html
I dont have any knowledge of porting or anything like that just flashing a few roms. Im using an old version right now.
I have been using a version from the forums here and I am trying to get a new version of Miui because there seems to be alot missing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028368
Not the latest miui but it is extremely stable and updated. Follow his Google + page. He postes the link in the op and he said it again on the last few pages
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I am using that version of the rom right now it seems to be missing alot of features. I used to use miui on the nexus and it had so much more than the Gs3
The problem is MIUI is closed source and also the smali edits required are redonkulous. I'd honestly be greatful for what we got. If u were around the d2vzw scene in the beginning the MIUI we had was crap with minimal support

ROM: [4.2.2]SlimBean-SGH_I727 skyrocket build 3.1 04-03-13 UNOFFICIAL

Special note, It seems there have been a bricked skyrocket using clockworkmod! There have been none with twrp. I would suggest you use twrp with this rom and would like to hear from anyone that has installed with cwm!
If something is broken You need to provide clear instructions on how to reproduce it and provide Logcats, kmsg and last kmsg if applicable.
This rom would not be possible without the hard work and knowledge of CyonanogenMod,prbassplayer! And of course the Slim team!
Lots of thanks to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798056, I recommend anyone that is interested in building from source to read this thread!

I have been compiling SlimBean for the hercules for some time now. I finally got 4.2.2 up and running pretty smooth. I noticed no one was building for the skyrocket so here it is. I've had some testers playing with it for a couple of days because I don't have a skyrocket. All has gone well, if cm has a bug then this probably does to since its a cm kernel. Camera and video are both working now. This rom is straight from Slim's source with 0 changes. I had one tester who tried a different kernel and had overheating problems and of course terrible battery life. This rom, like 4.2.1 has better battery life than cm at least for me.
I know there were problems with early development of this rom, but it is safe and can now be used as a daily driver. However as usual I am not responsible for a bricked or damaged phone. I just figured since I'm supporting the hercules why not share with the skyrocket to. If anyone wants to compile for skyrocket and take over please feel free lol Go to the rookie thread and follow the tutorial in op for slim and I will try to help with any problems. ENJOY

As one of the early testers of this build I can attest that this is smooth and solid. The only problem I've had so far is getting Trebuchet to play nice, but someone else tested and didn't have the same problem. I did all of my setup yesterday, brought it up to a full charge and went to bed. 7 1/2 hours of deep sleep (for me and the phone), some streaming audio this morning, a few texts and I've still got plenty of juice. Nice work to the OP and the whole Slim team.

Very nice surprise to find this build, coming from the 4.1.2 version of Slimbean 3.1.
Installed and everything seems functional, including torch in Quick Settings Panel, very smooth and snappy.
Many thanks to onlychevys for building this!!

Ask all questions here in this thread, I need to change the op! If one of you knows the answer to a question from another than please feel free to help. I am not a dev but I am learning fast and can compile from source. If we all work together we can keep slim working on this device as well as the hercules. We almost got left behind and since this is my favorite rom that would suck! android88 started the q&a thread listed in op and is super smart with android on your phone, so if your question or problem is not answered here then ask there. I will have him look in on this thread if he don't mind.

+1 on this! I was a bit surprised not to see the normal slim 182 dpi at first, but the density changer worked like a charm so far thanks for bringing this to us onlychevy's, you're the man!
One thing I have noticed is that the video recording preview is "zoomed in." I remember this being an issue in cm10.1 at first but topprospect made a commit that fixed it. Videos record fine, just looks grainy while recording.
Edit: anyone know where I can find the stock slim wallpaper? I want to apply a theme, but I don't want to lose this wall

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Any chance this supports BLN in the kernel? I'm guessing not, but then I've also found that the few ROMs which do, don't tend to mention it in the features.

You know, I've seen all sorts of negatives said about BLN, but most seem almost mythological. lol I've used it full time for about a year, on various kernels and ROMs. Only real bug I've ever seen is that it seems to interfere with vibration feedback at times with some kernels. Which, I can see why you'd leave it out for that. Was just curious, as that's my must have feature. Thanks for taking the time to answer!
