Go to settings and manually check for an update!
You should be able to just go to settings and manually check for an update to start downloading. Make sure you are on Wi-Fi cuz its 900 megabytes. This is for the T237P...

Mike, do you have data service with ATT? I have read an active ATT Sim card is needed.
Alex ill buy a clue and share what your smoking Please..
DUDE I could name it Ferrari still doesn't make it one, first clue in your video it was stock recovery no twrp or philz recovery, Second Sprint has nvr would nvr give us custom roms let alone a Rooted phone / tablit... 3rd for your info updates are released regionally you can begg all you want what all you had was OK timming, Btw i had update 3 days prior and i didnt beg once hell i still owed a bill at the time to sprint..
Lastly like any good reporter you need to do some research then fact check your results otherwise it's just sad.... I would personally take down the youtube / XDA posting is not doing you any justice. .
P.s did you select nightlies or weeklies for you Cm12 5.1.1 updates FROM sprint lol only kidding...
Sprint T237P 5.1.1 ota running philz recovery (Needs Root)
Hi , I had my device rooted and had philz touch 6.5 plus pure performance stock (which is another link in xda for the 4.4.2 root) on my tablet before I got the 5.1.1 upgrade on Sept 30 2015. I got the 5.1.1 upgrade the other day and I flashed philz touch recovery back onto my tablet it works perfectly and I installed pure performance on my tablet also with philz touch recovery runs good , now all I need is root for the 5.1.1 sprint T237P. Is anyone working on root for 5.1.1 for the t237p or can someone tell me anything all the hard work is appreciated. There is a link in XDA for philz touch recovery i don't know it offhand it is where i got mine... I wanted to add zip file of philz touch but don't see a way to add or attach file either...Anybody with information though on root for T237P 5.1.1 Please Post....Thanks

Going off what I saw from the 8.0 models, because you've got lollipop 5.1.1 and not 5.0.x, you cannot just root by flashing Philz and then in Philz flashing the superSU zip like usual. There is something new in the security measures of the 5.1.1 kernel that causes a boot loop if you try this. I say this because the 10.1 models, which got 5.0.2, could root like I just described but the 8.0 models, which got 5.1.1, could not.
Therefore, it seems that someone will have to make a modified rootable kernel, in a similar manner to what moonbutt74 did for the 8.0 models. Check out his thread here to see what I mean
Try Kingroot?
I am glad that you confirmed that Philz recovery at least installs and you can flash back to stock 4.4.2! Have you tried King root? I was thinking about trying King root first then replacing their custom recovery with ours if needed. Then we hope that recovery works correctly... We need somebody rooted on 4.4.2 to capture the OTA for lollipop.
T237P on 5.1.1
Hi, Shout out to everyone with a T237P and a follow up to reply to last post. I tryed kingo root and king root as well as towel root and a couple others none of these root our devices on the T237P...as far as I can tell none root T237P on 5.1.1 ..that is why i said i will be patient and wait for someone to come up with a method to root 5.1.1 on T237P but I will be happy to capture the 5.1.1 OTA and post link in a few days Thanks
You guys need to ping @moonbutt74, for insecure rootable kernel. As far as I can tell from kernel source, the method applied on Tab 4 8 SM-T330NU 5.1.1 can be applied on this one as well.
In fact, all tab 4 5.1.1 can use the same method to to make rootable kernel.
Of course, it is all up to our dear friend @moonbutt74
Hi, Just letting everyone know when I flashed the original stock firmware 4.4.2 back to my tab 4 T237P using odin i never rooted , only because i updated back to 5.1.1 OTA and I am just being patient waiting for someone like moonbutt74 or someone to come up with a kernel or root similar to the T-330NU and a custom recovery like Philz Touch 6.5 because we already know that works because i had it on my T237P ....I am not able though to capture 5.1.1 OTA as I am not rooted and I really want to be. Idid however speak to samsung on a chat and was told 5.1.1 not available anywhere to download and one can only get through an OTA as an update. But from what i can see everywhere online and understanding how the tab T330NU works this T237P should have no issues coming up with root and working in a similar manner . Thanks to all

Just wondering if Moonbutt74 or someone can take the attached zip for root and do something similar to for the tab 4 T237P Theses are similar The T330NU is 8.0 and the T237P is 7.0 this is just a thought but would be great if you can take this and do something and revise so it would work on the T237P and then we all know Philz touch 6.5 works already cause I had it on my T237P after I got the 5.1.1 OTA. Hope this helps and I am looking forward to any further developments. Thanks
I'm uploading the update.zip to Dropbox now. I'll post it when it's finished

Hello everyone,
Since there is still no proper root and recovery for the M2 on KitKat, would someone who has upgraded from JB to KitKat be able to write their experience with KitKat so far? Are there enough KitKat advantages over JB 4.3 in order to upgrade while losing root? Is it maybe better to wait until a proper root and recovery is available?
Thanks and all best.
I have root with kitkat! It is much more better than JB!

how did you get root ,is your bootloader unlocked.i have root without it unlocked .this is weird i got a update telling me to update so i did it and now i have a d2306.which is not my model ,my model is d2303 .and still have root without bootloader unlocked .
According to the AOSP sources, KitKat finally fixes the A2DP bitpool being way too low (320kbps vs 229 on 4.3 and below), so if you want to use a BT headset, it's worth considering. On the other hand apps lose the right to write to SD card with KitKat, which you cannot fix without root, and root seems to be impossible with a locked bootloader.
yes it can be done .root can be done on kitkat .i had jb 4.3 uk,then i had kk rusian ,then decided to falsh back to 4.3 but i flashed wrong country and had brazil jb4.3 then used toewlroot then superuser then whent to about and checked for updates and got the brazil kk update,i was thinking it was uk ,so i let it run and when finished i had d2306,insead of d2303 which is my model and have still got root just need a cwm recovery and am ready to backup all .my story .
Is the camera really better on kitkat?

yes cant r/w system but have root up to a point as you say but this is okay as ive not unlocked my bootloader .better than none .
Root is important to remove all the plunder on stock ROM.

You can try install D2305 kernel with CWM, install ZIP package with root and then install stock original kernel.
It may not work.

I think I'll wait until someone finally do the appropriate CWM and kernel for 2303
Please don't stray from the original topic. This was meant to discuss and compare JB 4.3 to KitKat 4.4.2. Not taking root into consideration, what are are the main advantages of KitKat 4.4.2 vs JB 4.3? Mostly concerning performance, RAM/CPU management, battery? Still thinking if I should upgrade, as I am very satisfied with the performance of a rooted/xposed JB 4.3 at the moment. Thanks for any input on making a decision.
Hi iam disappointed from 4.4.2 on my m2. Moved app to sd lost from home screen after restart and there is also problem with sound sync in games like death trigger 2 and others. For me was better 4.3 even without any changes

I see that 4.4 has better memory management. Battery is abt the same for me (=good). Functionally there is not too much difference. The transparent adaptable notification and navigation area are a joke.
Consider staying with 4.3 rooted / debloated, instead of 4.4 heavily bloated and no root.
Proper root can be done. You can follow the steps in the tutorial written by Naufai Sidik.

Thank you all for your input. I think I am going to stick with JB 4.3 for the moment, at least untill proper root/recovery is available for KitKat. I am not a big fan of the rooting process as it stands this moment.
Hi there, how you doing friends? I hope fine.
Well I'm new in this so I'll try not sounds like I'm dumb. Well, last week I rooted my device an Sony Xperia Z2, I was using android 5.1.1 the last version I could update via OTA, well to make the "root" I had to downgrade to kit kat 4.4.2 or something like that, but the sameway my device was rooted I keep receiving updates via OTA, and now I'm currently using Lollipop 5.0.2 and it's still rooted and I loved, my doubt is: The update via OTA appeared again to version 5.1.1 the version I had before I did all that process, if I update from 5.0.2 rooted (my actually version) to 5.1.1 my phone will be "unrooted"?
Thanks and sorry my bad English.

I'm using an Stock Rom, but If I update it and lose my root access, I'll have to downgrade to Kit-Kat again, remake the root and then upgrade to 5.0.2 again, cause i can't find a rom 5.0.2 for my Device, not even here on XDA, i only found kit-kat :/
So, I rather wait till is possible to make root on 5.1.1. but thanks anyway.

Hello all,
Ive searched through the forums and it seems that there is only support for the gpad 7.0 or 8.3. I have successfully rooted the gpad but an OTA update attempted to come through and canceked because of root. I deleted some of the att bloatware so i would like to flash the stock rom if possible so i can update it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Has the Gpad f been lost and forgotten? Im surprised i havent received any input/suggestions.
lost
it probably has I have still yet to see a stock rom for this device, curse you AT&T
I finally received the 6.0 Marshmallow update today for my At&t GPad F 8 - v495.. Runs so smooth now, It 100% better when scrolling in the browser..
On another note my T-mobile s7 edge has had a update available for about 3 weeks now but I haven't takin it yet because It's already running on 6.0.2, I'm waiting on root an afraid it could get in the way of the work that's already been done to achieve root so I'm holding off for now..

I cannot get it to work and I cannot find the stock firmware to reset it!
need help too
I am in same situation. Rooted and deleted bloatware. Can unroot but MM won't install. I think it may be all the bloatware, etc that I erased. Hard to find stock firmware. Any help is appreciated. I rooted with Kingroot.
For what it is worth, I spoke to AT&T today and they said Marsmellow has not yet been released to the v495
I'll be receiving my AT&T LG G PAD F 8.0 (V495) (5.0 Lollipop) in the next couple of days...
Before I start "Playing" is there any way for me to create a COMPLETE backup of the device so I can start fresh (and reset the root flag for the warranty) if I need to??

Best I can tell, there is no way to un-trip the root flag.
The correct way to do it would be to flash the stock firmware and start all over, but no-one can find the stock firmware. The LG PC Suite that works for a lot of the LG devices does not work as of yet on the v495. LG says the most up to date firmware is the v49510c. Marshmellow is v49520g I think.
Please someone correct me if I am wrong! I lost connectivity to my LG G3 through Qpair when I updated that to MM. I am strongly considering sending the pad to LG and have them reflash it!
Has anyone figured out how to root LG G Pad 8 v495 (6.0.0 marshmallow)?

I JUST got this new tablet today and it was 5.0.2 Lollipop when I 1st turned it on, and it got a forced OTA upgrade to 6.0.0 marshmallow while I was still going through the factory setup/activation process! LOL!!!

Can any of you extract the update zip please!? My tablet got stuck on att logo trying to root it
Really wish I didn't update to marshmallow, especially since it seems there's no way to flash the old version back onto it now. Two things are making me think about returning it:
caveat: I am utilizing this unlocked to use on Tmobile
1) LG disables the adaptable storage feature in marshmallow so you can't combine your sd card and internal as one "storage". You can't even move apps to sd card!!
2) For some reason, likely a bug in the firmware/software, I can't set the "mmsc" to allow my device to connect to Tmobile networks!
---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------
I do agree, Marshmallow is making this tablet quite smooth for the underpowered device it is, I'm only using it for streaming/video playing anyway as I got it on amazon for $80 unlocked.

LG VS495 5.0.2 Stock Firmware
This my first post and I know I'm asking a lot(and most likely impossible, but if someone has that DLL file to go with george241312's .tot file, I would so grateful!
For all those having problems with not being able to update to Marshmallow, I too was rooted when I was on 5.0.2 Lollipop an had the same problem as everyone else but I was trying to get the first small update that they pushed out an the only way I got it taken care of was to basically brick it until it wouldn't go pass the LG Boot screen then called LG and told them that my Device wouldn't Boot a past the LG Logo, Witch they walking me through a factor reset and ask me to turn it off for a hour then try it and if not call them back.. Well, needless to say that turning it off for a hour doesn't help.lol.. Anyways, They ask me to send it back to them because they put a one year warranty on all their Devices.. It was gone for 5 days and they sent the same device back to me with the small update already on it.. I will say don't brick it unless you can get a bill of sale from At&t because they do ask you send it in with the device... I did manage to get Xposed Framework install before I bricked it but it was buggy has hell, mainly because it was made for the LG Stylo.... Wish there was another way to fix this problem but AT&T hasn't released any firmware for any device since 4.3 Note 3 if I'm not mistaken.. Note: that I'm not telling you all to go and brick you device, I'm merely explaining how I got mine fixed. ..Good luck everyone..
Is this LG GPAD 8.0 F, able to root under Marshmallow?
I am thinking of ditching my Samsung Tab 7.0 A6 (2016) (model T285) due to the rooting issue (bootloader locked, no root possible, no 3rd party rom support).
I wish to get a LG G PAD 8.0 due to the knock code thingy and I already owned a LG G3 phone.
Is there a CyanogenMod firmware for this LG G PAD 8.0 F (Model V495)?
Here Help
Does anyone have the mixer_paths.xml for this device??? If so please post here so I can copy it.

You do not need to worry about the security patch, it is the BOOT LOADER version of the firmware which determines what you can do with it.
G930FXXS5ESF3 = Oreo (8.0), you cannot downgrade to Nougart (7.0) because you are already on S5.
You can only upgrade a bootloader, Never downgrade.

(but from what i understand i guess you cant a number back "S5 S4" right ?) ....This is correct, you cannot go back.
There are a few custom ROM's which are great for battery life. I'm using this one It has good battery life and all the bloatware apps have been removed, it's also on October 19 security patch.
All re chargeable batteries lose power and get worse, only have the apps on your phone that you need and don't let the battery run flat.
You must only flash ROM's which are for the G930F and you should back up everything you want to keep BEFORE you flash anything.
