I'm trying to flash Sprints N920P with any international unbranded firmware. phone is rooted, TWRP already installed and OEM unlocked.
Tried to flash N920CXXU1AOI3_N920COXE1AOI3_SER with odin but failed.
could you please give me any advise? There should be a solution because its hardware is same for every region or carrier.

Not sure why you would want to do this. If you can get the phone unlocked then whats the point?

my Galaxy Note 5 "SM-N920P" sprint version is unlocked.. i live in Bangladesh! your neighbour! i can use a local sim without any problem... but stil.. as i'm in asia.. shouldn't i be using an international rom??? plus... my theme store isn' working! when I long press in desktop and select themes.. nothing happens! maybe it's because i'm using that sprint version in asia! :/

Hmm not sure about the theme store but you don't need to use an international rom. You can use a Sprint rom. Although all Note 5's are essentially the same (there might be some variants with differences), the kernel might be different for each. I would stick with the Sprint rom. Maybe try some of the roms posted in the development section to see if the theme store would work on those roms.

btw//.. i'm downloading this tom "http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/development/rom-darthstalker-note5-version-1-aroma-t3212091" and there is a interesting thing i found here.. in the discreption section they said that
"DEVICE MODEL OPTIONS
- Now Users Can Choose Their Device's Phone Model Right From The Aroma Installer.
CSC CARRIER/REGION OPTIONS
- Now Users Can Choose Their Country Sales Code (CSC) Right From The Aroma Installer"
does that mean i can now change my unlocked "SM-N920P" "Sprint" to international "SM-N920I" wow.. that would be soooo cooollll!!!! :')
Please inform us if you will have success.

nope. i have flashed "sprint" custom rom!
Thing about sprint is...it has its own network. So unlocking it is not the same as tmobile and other networks. Example 1, sprint unlocked only works on sprinit network and other networks by sprint. Example 2, any other company, tmobile, verizion, unlocked can work with a different sim card, internationally. If you put a different sim card in the sprint phone it wont work for some reason, but any nonesprint phone it does if unlocked
This is not true. The N920P can be unlocked and used on domestic GSM carriers. I'm currently using the N920P on straight talk (ATT) with LTE on stock/rooted rom.
Hey insane howd you get 4g? On att?and are there any good roms for sprint note 5 with att

How you did it?
I used idoneapps for the unlock (works great, kudos to those guys) .You will have to make NV changes for LTE (directions are on this site). You also need two APN's (one with LTE as bearer). Network Mode needs to be GSM/WCDMA/LTE. Handcent with manual APN for MMS keeps from having to reboot nearly everytime you receive an MMS as well.
---------- Post added at 09:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:44 AM ----------
NV edits can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56577252&postcount=455 . You do not need the storage patch for this device, obviously.

I have been wondering the same thing. Have you gotten any further with this?
I'm in South America and would like to flash an INT ROM hoping to get LTE working here. LTE Band where I am right now is 1900 mhz. Would flashing an INT ROM "unlock" the phone for that? Are there other "consequences" that one should be aware of when flashing an official International ROM? Any comment on this is appreciated :good:

no i haven't found any information on it sadly :/
Im searching information about too. I tried install some 925F roms then flash 925p kernels but no luck. GPS not working, data/voice not working, even no mobile operator setting in setup.
You would need more than just download and flash!!! You need to port libs, xmls, framework, apps etc to make it compatible with Sprint
Anyway of getting a sprint compatability zip?

Thanks for the info. In my case I don't need to make it compatible with Sprint since I'm in South America. Any suggestions on how to flash an official International G925 Rom?
I think that will happens only when somebody write unified kernel for F/I/*/*/*/and P version of this phone. I researched this and found that noone from kernel makers want not do this. In nearby thread one programmer offer to try modified bootloader for 925p (to be able rollback to 5.0.2). He can't even find testers(. No one want brick their phones.

Except that the locked bootloader on both carriers devices may cause a issue if you Odin one or the other .Its worth a try all it will do is fail if not .But i did this on metro s5 s4 and s6

It should work with no problems. I had a Sprint S7 and flashed T-mobile firmware to use on TMO and its been working great. All the US S7's are pretty much all the same except for the firmwares. So they should be fine.

I should state that I'm up in Canada, so we're using a different set of regional codes. Nevertheless the latest avialable build I see is: G965WOYV1ARC1 (I have no idea what security level this is). My carrier is still on a February security patch level with build number: G965WVLU1ARBG.

I would be very careful in attempting to load another regions firmware on your Canadian variant. There have be some users who have reported ending up with a bricked device attempting this sort of update. While you can find stock Odin files for our devices, it's still on the v1 bootloader. Not worth the pain...

Let me know if you successfully flash on your device then I'll do it as I'm from Bell mobility
I got the downloads to go through. Will report once flashing is complete. Not sure which firmware will be on the phone when it arrives (att variant) but I'm gonna be flashing u1 then newest rc6 TMobile firmware. Hoping to have full features working as if originally a TMobile variant.
On a side note (mods please excuse) but Samsung. Com has the att variant on sale $639 ($200 off) and since I'm trading in my old s7 I'm getting an additional $200 off so $439 ($466 after tax) for a brand new s9+! Once i flash the TMobile firmware I'll be happy and for $400 off!
Anyone know if i need to sim unlock before flashing this? I've read about having to flash the unlocked rom before flashing the T-Mobile Rom and that's my other question. Can i just flash this tmobile firmware to the phone fresh out of the box or do i need to go to unlocked first (doesn't seem right) and put my TMobile sim in and be good?
My thoughts were that i could just sim unlock thorough a 3rd party then Odin the TMobile firmware and be done. Thanks

You have to unlock your device first, before flashing any other firmware besides your carrier firmware. Flashing unlock firmware, will not unlock your device.

SIM unlock has nothing to do with firmware/rom flashing. You can flash to any U/U1 firmware you want and your device will still be in the same carrier lock/unlock state it was before.
T-Mobile does do things a little differently, however. Flashing a different firmware won't SIM unlock your phone, but I do believe you need to be on a legitimate T-Mobile firmware to unlock the device via their built in unlocking app.
Awesome thanks guys. Will just get a 3rd party unlock service then flash.
If you got it from [email protected] they will unlock it free of charge. And if you didn't I would still try with them first before paying
Will use it to update my converted s9 plus from att to tmobile firmware.

Im just waiting for Rogers in Canada to push out their latest update, which they say is now available, and its not. I want to see if they have updated from U1 to U2 before taking the plunge with this firmware.
What's the benefit to having T-Mobile f/w over unlocked? Or what's better about having unlocked? I'll be using it only on T-Mobile.
Hi guys, quick question... My good old Note 9 (Canadian variant: SM-N960W) is flashed with an unlocked/unbranded US firmware (SM-960U1), and everything's working flawlessly (Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, OTA updates, etc.). The main reason I did it: Canadian carriers are useless morons, they take weeks/months to release updates, and I've been more than happy with the quick updates I get with the US firmware installed.
I would like to do the same with my Canadian Note 20 Ultra I will receive Friday, but I want to make sure it's still possible, with "Odin Patched", to flash a firmware from a different region on the Note 20 Ultra.
Someone on XDA did it? Did it go well, and did it break something?
Many thanks

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't thought about 5G, but glad to hear it's still possible to do it (flash a firmware from a different region) without bricking the device. I'll probably pick faster updates over 5G for now, considering I live in the middle of nowhere and have access to LTE only anyway
I have a Rogers Note 20 Ultra, I will wait for the updates because here in this part of Ontario, has 5G for whatever reason. I really enjoy streaming Xbox games from the cloud. Almost no delay.
You should be able to flash U or U1 firmware using patched Odin. Just make sure if you have a carrier locked version (not sure if thats a thing in Canada) to have it SIM unlocked before flashing anything, especially if you plan on changing carriers ever. After going to U1 firmware, you can access the service mode menus to enable bands for LTE, NR 5G and DSS. Canada uses 5G bands n38, n66 and n71 and DSS. The only band I don't see available in the US firmware is n38, although it may be available under another CSC like WWD or GCF. I have included a screenshot of the bands I've enabled under the Verizon CSC.
Has anyone with an N986W been able to flash the U1 firmware yet?
Has anyone tried it already? if its possible to flash SM-N986W to U or U1

This can be fixed by flashing the home_CSC file of your carrier and then there are many other ways to fix this. So take this information lightly.

This can be fixed by flashing the home_CSC file of your carrier and then there are many other ways to fix this. So take this information lightly. Also he never said he was able to do it, he just had a U1 device.

What he said :good:. Also you would be able to get on Beta on which a lot of 5G things were fixed / enabled so in fact that might work for you.
Only things i would want you to check before flashing the US firmware is:
1. Is it a dual sim phone? If No you are good.
2. Do you have E-sim Capability enabled? If No you are good.
3. What variant is your phone ? If Snapdragon you are good.
ohh if you are flashing US firmware flash the U1, no need to flash U firmware. Do check if you are sim unlocked because in case you are not and in future you want to sim unlock your device you will have to be on Carrier Firmware, if you plan to stay with your carrier for a long long time and or if you are sim unlocked this should not be of a concern.

Just as a heads up for future reference all Canadian new phone since December 2018 are Sim unlocked
For anyone still wanting to convert their N986W to US unlocked N986U1 I just wanted to say its possible. I used modified Odin and put the U1 firmware on my N986W. I was then able to install the 3 beta's. After a couple of days I switched back to the Canadian firmware. So for anyone wanting to try it, you should be good to go.

Hello,
I have a n986w (freedom locked) and i was wondering does every band work with u1? Or do we have to manually enable bands from service mode? And if i may ask where did you find modified odin and u1 firmware? And why did you roll back? I am still new to samsung phones, i had my fair share of modding android in past but sammy does thing bit differently so i am but confused about everything

Your N986W with freedom is probably not sim locked. I know mine isn't and someone earlier in the thread said that phones in Canada aren't sim locked anymore. So you should be able to proceed. When I switched to the U1 firmware I was receiving LTE signal on freedom. I did not test any other bands as I was just in my living room. There is a guide here on xda regarding enabling all the bands and there is a link to it from the thread I followed in order to switch to the U1 firmware. The link to modified Odin and U1 firmware is also in the same thread. The thread OP is warriorvibhu and its about switching from U to U1 firmware but you can follow it just the same and you can find that thread and the thread for sideloading the beta in the Guides, News and Discussion section. Sorry I couldn't add a link for you I have limited time right now. I rolled back because I just wanted to see if it could be done or not. The instructions were straightforward. Good luck and enjoy.

Yes my phone is not sim locked. it is in fact unlocked. Does this trip knox? and will I receive OTA updates after I switch to Oneui 3.0? or will I have to manually flash beta otas?

It did not trip knox as its official firmware. You will have to manually flash the betas. Also, when you get the U1 firmware, make sure that you download the one ending in ATID. That is the one required for the beta. I read both the guide for the beta flashing and the guide for flashing the U1 firmware before I proceeded. Also make sure you remove sim card b4 flashing U1. Have sim in when sideloading the betas and be careful you don't accidentally take an update between U1 and beta or you will have to re-flash ATID.

I'm going to try this! Would you link me to where I need to download everything? Will test if 5G will still work or not. I am with Rogers in a 5G area. But is it even worth it to use as a daily?
I've looked through threads of people doing the reverse of this. It's been a few years since I've had an android and was running nexus devices then. What's the process to flash an unlocked firmware on an AT&T locked 968U to the 968U1 firmware (assuming there aren't issues doing it)?
Are there any other pitfalls I need to be aware of prior to doing it other than the wifi calling?
If this is already posted somewhere else, please feel free to point me there. I didn't see any info about going from a carrier locked 968U to unlocked firmware.
Thanks in advance.

I just did this today went from TMB locked one to unlocked (For a family member) mine is unlocked. All went well no problems at all. Just download the U1 Firmware you want to flash and for CSC use home_csc (In ODin) so you can keep your data and probably the wifi calling feature too ( i did that all features are intact). Use the Odin and firmware from Ota and non Ota thread . Enjoy

What did you gain that made it worth it for you? Also, I'm on a Locked ATT/Firstnet Ultra and am wondering if flashing to an Unlocked Firmware would give me more control of my device.

If your on FirstNet I recommend that you stay on ATT branded software, I'm not sure if band 14 will work properly for you if you are on unlocked software. Thank you for your service!

You can get VoLTE back, but yeah, WiFi calling is not gonna happen.

The thread is for T-Mobile, but most of it works with AT&T devices as well.

I flashed the U1 firmware (ATJ3) onto my AT&T Note Ultra, then flashed the Home CSC from the AT&T U firmware. I have VoLTE and WiFi calling.
Help!
Hello all, I have a Note 20 Ultra 5g that is unlocked and I'm looking to flash the original ATT firmware for this device.
Having this unlocked version on Firstnet has been nothing but problems and I don't have access to band 14 or wifi calling.
I see this thread is a little old but if anyone could help me out or send me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
I have rooted some of my older phones several several years ago so I think I could pick this back up pretty quickly. I know over the years things seem to get easier and have probably changed quite a bit since I've last done something like this.
Thanks in advance!

My comment was made before we were able to change IMS settings directly.
You can get it all now. VoLTE, WiFI Calling, RCS, Video calling...

AT&T hasn't released any "official" firmware for the Note 20 series.
Since Samsung firmware is multi CSC, just flash any firmware with the same build number as the AT&T variant and use your AT&T SIM card.
Go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ota-and-non-ota-firmware-for-n986u-and-n986u1.4143833/
Make sure you know what device you have, U or U1. Then grab the appropriate version.
Fir AT&T U devices, N986USQU2DUCA or N986USQU2DUCA will work.
For AT&T U1 devices, N986U1UEU2DUCB is the most recent version.
