root nexus 5 android marshmallow d. p 3 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey everyone, i m pretty new to the forum and to the rooting thing as well.
i own a nexus and was previously using lollipop in it which was rooted ( it was an easy task)
but no after installing the marshmallow version and after a quick search on the public domain i realized that marshmallow cant be rooted like the lollipop ( as the kernels have changed significantly by the google)
i during my research i came across various kernels from despair, elemental x and hell core.
but all the kernels where not available on the download link showing an error of 403 forbidden on the website.
so here is a kind request to all who wants to help, kindly let me know where can i download the kernels for rooting my nexus 5 android 6 i.e. marshmallow d.p. 3 build number MPA44G.

Yes I used elementalX and after root and no problems.

Thank you for your inputs fellows !!

Most devices (of cause not including nexus devices) are only maintained by the manufactures, they want to keep control over there devices, and often add extras to android (touch wiz, htc sense etc.). So they lock there devices down so they can add there on extras to new android versions before releasing.
Some times manufactures will drop support for older devices either because they want you to buy a new device, or they dont think the device is up to running the new versions fast enough.
Of cause most good manufactures let you unlock your device and install custom ROMs and thus upgrade yourself

Nexus 5 Experience - No Root Req'd

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share a thread I found under the Nexus 7 forums for downloading and using the Nexus 5 Experience launcher on other Kit Kat devices. The main thread is located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2556139
Also, I can confirm that you only need to download the app and install - Scroll down a bit as the newest version is available about 10 posts down. I really like some of the features of the N5 launcher and would rather not root my phone, so this was a nice option.
Let me know if there are any questions as I have already installed and ran this app.

[Q] Cyanogenmod for Nexus 5 Lollipop 5.1?

I have a LG Nexus 5 with Lollipop 5.1, unlocked and unrooted. Is there an easy way to install CyanogenMod to it? I'm new to tinkering with my phone so don't have much knowledge or experience with this.

Sticky threads are available to learn how to flash a custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527
Go to CyanogenMod download center to download a nightly:

OR
• hammerheadcaf: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=hammerheadcaf
Check daily until we see a build named cm-12.1xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How to Customize OEM Rom or Free up RAM

Hi Everyone
I have limited to no experience and have only rooted and installed 2 devices with a custom ROM
about 4 years ago Galaxy S3 with kitkat lite and a nexus 7 2012 tablet.
My old phone recently died (Sony Z1 C ) and I bought the S5 Neo a few months ago and am not happy this phone is extremely resource hungry while on idle 80% of my RAM is used up and it keeps freezing. I have looked on Cyanogen and XDA and am not able to find a custom ROM. I have found a OEM MarshMellow ROM on Sammobile but the Base band version dosnt match up not sure if it would make a difference.
As seen as I cannot find another ROM to install I thought I would be able to edit my current ROM to make APPS like Facebook and Whatsapp stop running in RAM while not in use freeing up resources. (I dont need notifications from Facebook or Messenger if the app isnt open)
Is this possible ?
I have downloaded Android kitchen and Android studio as well as Cygwin but am having a bit of trouble getting Cygwin to run keep getting an error. I have also downloaded all the necessary java files and extra Cygwin files straight from their web site.
Please let me know if I am looking at this from the wrong angle, or point me in the right direction
Thank you for your help guys
I now have a Samsung S5 Neo
Model Number : SM-G903F (European)
Base band Version : G903FXXU1APA2
Android : 5.1.1
do you have root? you can use greenify
and write you firmware so we can search for rom for you
Thank you for the advice will give it a go if things don't improve.
Have just had a system update to marshmallow seems to be running ok.
Also uninstalled Facebook and Facebook messenger it was hogging a lot of ram
