Hi All,
I just picked my new phone up this Saturday. A Samsung Galaxy S5 NEO.
When I got home and thought I could root it and install custom roms on it, I saw to my surprise that there weren't any....
Now I learned that this device is new, so nothing is developed yet, but also that Samsung put his own soc in it (Exynos 7580).
Is there any change there will be root for this device as well custom roms?
I hope so, because that's why I like Android phones, would be a pitty if it's not possible with this S5 NEO.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Root seems to be one of those things to hang tight with for this device. As for ROM's, it is said that Exynos is harder to design for, but so is Intel Atom (anything but qcom really), and yet I have seen Intel Atom ROM's around.
But it's hard to tell how the prospect of custom ROM's will pan out. Is the S5 Neo a popular device? Popular enough to bring in developers? That is the big question, and will determine whether custom ROM's will happen or not.
At any rate, please create an account so you can post in other forums. From there, check out this thread, and put in your thoughts:

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Please take a look at the following thread for information relating to your question.
[Q] Galaxy S5 Active
Good luck with your phone.
Thread closed.
My Samsung s6 edge has no cell service. IMEI blocked. I think what I have to do is "root", "flash" and somehow get the phone to start using the "Generic IMEI"(???)
but whatever info I will get out of this, my friend who is more cunning is going to use to help me.
It's running on the Original ROM at the moment.
Modelnumber: SM-G925F
Android-version: 5.0.2
I want to be able to use my phone again, and will take any measures.
Hello, and welcome to XDA Assist! Here is a good rooting guide for you: How to Root Any Device. For roms to flash, look here: Galaxy S6 Edge Android Development or Galaxy S6 Edge Original Android Development.
Good luck!

Hi Chris,
you can check this thread: [q] sph-l710t? by dev-meepo.
Seems that your device is similar to the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III (SPH-L710).
So the rooting guide of this device will work for you too: Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III > Root.
But I am not sure about that.
So best to ask in the Sprint Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting or the [HELP THREAD] Ask ANY Question. Noob Friendly. thread before.
Good luck !
Hello!
I am the proud owner of a Galaxy S5 NEO – SM-G903FXXU1AOGG, on Android 5.1.1.
It's a work phone and I use it for calls, texts, email and with S4 I used it in conjunction with Sidesync.
Turns out, Sidesync, does not support the S5 Neo, and apparently the S5 Neo does not have the mirror feature??
So, I try Airdrop, but to use airmirror, my device needs to be rooted.
So, question is, can I root this device, and if so, when will it be available?
I suppose custom Rom is not possible (ie. different camera, processor etc) yet?
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
I'm not sure what model your device is. Is it this one > Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo S5310 ?
No it's a Samsung galaxy s5 Neo SM-G903F
