LG G2 .. How to unroot
I have VS980 ... I rooted phone through stumproot about a year ago.... the sofware version in my phone is the 26A currently and of coarse being rooted doesnt allow OTA firmware updates to be installed for 28A then Lollipop 39A: ... ive noticed about a week ago that my microphone on phone calls and google voice search have stopped working accept on speaker or bluetooth for phone calls and bluetooth only for voice search ... being the phone is running on 26A version, I believe it is a software upgrade issue because the phone still works on speaker ... now here are my questions if anybody can help me:
1) Is there a way to push the software update without losing root access ? ... I did however backup all files, contacts, pics, etc to verizon cloud in case unroot or factory restore is necessary
- if anyone can provide me with the links to do this or even to unroot the phone in worse case scenario so i can upgrade including any flash tools or or even if there is an updated mic driver I can
- is there just a simple way to update my microphone driver without affecting root?
- I have been researching this for past week and have a few links I have found accept I am unsure which tool kit would be necessary if any for this issue
Thank you so much if you could help me...

I recently rooted my metro PC's huaweii ascend not too long ago and erased some stock apps including Google talk which I now know I wasn't supposed to. I'm new to all this and EVER since, I've been having glitches and web crashes, frequent Google gapps error message etc but the phone is still functional. Lately I've been hearing a lot about metro pcs's OFFICIAL 2.2 froyo upgrade. I want to upgrade my phone but I have heard that if you previously modified your phone in any way such as rooting etc,the upgrade will not work! the phone must be in the original factory state-so I hear... I also called metro PC's customer service and they said its safe to upgrade and the update will also replace the missing Google factory apps if they were previously erased. Some folks have had problems with the upgrade so I'm being causious before I do anything and make it worse, don't wanna risk bricking my huaweii since I already voided my warranty. So will this 2.2 upgrade work on a rooted and modified phone?? I really need a 2nd oppinion!!!
Never mind lol
Posting this here in the hopes that someone with more expertise and experience with HTC products will read and respond as I haven't had luck with Google and have only had Motorola and Samsung phones myself.
Very short background:
My friend has an HTC Sensation through TMobile that has been having glitches and random reboots after receiving carrier updates. I told him it wasn't hardware related and could be fixed.
I see 3 options:
1. Backup all data to SD Card/Computer and do a full factory data reset. Hope everything is fixed.
2. Root phone, unlock bootloader, and find a good custom rom to install
3. Backup all data and reflash to an earlier/original HTC Rom
With #2, the phone is out of warranty anyway and I am guessing development for this device has peaked so any custom roms out there are probable pretty stable.
With #3, They aren't very techie and don't care if the phone is rooted or not, but asked me if it was an option.
I know Motorola has RSD Lite, Samsung has Odin, Google has ADB.
Does HTC also have their own proprietary flashing utility that is readily available for download?
Also, how protective is HTC of their phone ROMS/image files and do they still manage to get released anyway--because I would need them to be able to flash.
With Moto it seemed like they would get released involuntarily and then the cease and desist letters would go out and they would be removed.
With my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google freely distributes them on their website, so I have seen both extremes.
#3 may be the best option for my friend since it will basically restore their phone to the software it had before the update and normally flashing a phone is pretty easy and doesn't require root, though it would be nice to be able to block further carrier updates once the phone is restored.
If it was my own phone, I would probably choose #2 since I appreciate developer enhancements. However, I will always keep the factory image files close at hand so I can easily restore the phone if needed.
Has any HTC ROM or image file been released for the Droid DNA yet? The device is carrier unlocked and developer support seems to be strong, but do you guys have an easy way to get back to 100% stock if you need to?
Hi,
I've been looking for a solution for my tablet on net for long time but unfortunately couldnt find any. I have reduced version of k012 (FE7010CG) for my country and it is k012_2 (FE7010CG) which supports 3G. It is almost same device but has single simcard slot and doesnt support phone calls via simcard. FE7010CG is phone pad but k012_2 is tablet only so its general issue about k012_2. It can make calls with apps but i want to use my simcard for calls. When i call my own number while simcard is in tablet,it calls but no sign on tablet so cant answer. I installed numpad apps and when i try to call, android system says device doesnt support phone calls.Still i have Telephony Service,ASUS Phone and Call(Android) apps installed in my tablet but i can't open or delete them from device. I read many threads about this issue and ASUS doesnt support rooting and installing ROM and they dont help about it,only thing they say is device will be out of warranty with rooting(even if you use its own official ROM). So my question is; is it possible to turn my k012_2 to k012 with installing k012 ROM and make phone calls via my simcard? I dont care about it going out of warranty but I dont wanna kill my device either. Will it cause any permanent harm on device if i try k012 ROM ?

Word of advice, do NOT flash firmware that is not specific for your device. You will end up bricked for sure. Also, there are several generic root methods available. However, if they don't support your device, there's not much you can do. Try Kingo or farmaroot. Search is your friend.

I saw a guide that roots my device successfully with using adb driver and asus intel root kit but it roots to k102_2 again(on site they have links for all required stuff also) but there is not any info if it gets call option and probably it doesnt get it with new k012_2 ROM. I dont have any experience with rooting but having phone call option for my device will be so great for me. It will save me from buying a new smart phone so giving it a chance sounds so reasonable. But if you say it will be bricked for sure i will have to give up

If it's built for your SPECIFIC device model, then it's OK. Otherwise, steer clear. If your device is WiFi capable, try using Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer. Or possibly Google voice.

My device has everything but phone calls Hangouts is really expensive in my country compared to gsm calls. So its not a good option for me . Thanks for advices. Hope someone had experience with similar issue and can help me.
Any new idea for the topic?
I realized that I should install WW SKU type of ROM . I tried several methods but I could not change the SKU of the ROM of the tablet (FE7010CG). There is a protection. Can you suggest a method that can be applied to lollipop.
My Flex2 is LS996ZV4, i bought it in Cuba. It never got any OTA update since i rooted it very early and the software update notification didnt showed up there. Im living now in Peru and the notification does show up (by the way it can be seen in the screenshot), but... the update does not work because the phone is rooted and i find no way to unroot it due to its old software version(V4). Im in some kind of a loophole here
In the mean time, my phone overheat and lags like crazy! And i've been using it like this for almost a year now...
I asked this before, and i got no response, guess is not something easy to do.
Thanks in advance. Any tips will be higly appreciated.
Do some search in the forum and you will find similar threads about this issue for H950 or other variants check if it applies to your model or try it on your own if it works good then you are fine if it doesnt you will have to wait for professional support by other members who have exp with this device
Thanks for the tip @yeyoo. Im starting to believe there is no solution at hand...
I have searched... and almost every advice i read implies going back flashing the stock image and unrooting. But i cant do It because i cant find an image of this old software vers.(v4) to download.
I think you dont need the same version you have you can flash higher version kdz easily and it will remove root automaticly or you can try to update through lg mobile support tool on a pc
Hey guys, I just got myself an unlocked ATT G4 H81010b. My girl and I got matching phones, and after she bought the bring your own phone ST SIM pack and transferred her number she received an OTA update. Her phone is now H81010o. I'm not sure if hers was a 10b before the update i didnt think to check. I did not want to set up my phone until I was able to figure out how to root it, however - now that I have found I need an OTA in order to root it (i havent seen any confirmed 10b roots, i cant find any 10b specific commands - i was going to use the "root injection method"). The only difference here is, I am simply moving my SIM from my G2 to my G4, so I'm wondering if this would make any difference as to whether i recieve an OTA or not? Furthermore, I am confused because all the research I have done indicates that ST doesnt do OTAs. But i do know that her phone restarted, downloaded a software update and installed it. Is it possible for me to manually install the update? I really would just like to root, install TWRP, and CM13 (or maybe I'll try a different ROM this time). I know this is a loaded question, but any help is appreciated.
I finally found a confirmed working H81010b rooted image, no need to update now.
