Can someone confirm this. I did a clean install.

Why are you starting a whole new thread when the logical step would be for the original to just switch over?

I see the same issue. I also see fix permissions finishing immediately, presumably because it's running against the wrong directory or file system. Otherwise it's running quite well for me!

Havn't Seen a thread handling emmc 10.2. Would you mix it with 10.1?

The Ovation is only on nightly status and has not received a stable build. Now that it has moved on to 10.2 nightly builds any reports submitted for a 10.1 build is now mute.

Is fixing permissions still required? What is this exactly?
I just did a full whipe and install from zip, cleaned also dalvik cache.

I would assume any time you have things running as root that manipulate files, you can end up with things in the file system that aren't accessible to less privileged processes and therefore cause them to FC. I don't see why 4.3 would eliminate the need for that, but I could very well be wrong.

I was using cm-10.1-20130812-NIGHTLY-ovation.zip for 24 hours without problems... but updated to CM 10.2 via cm-10.2-20130814-NIGHTLY-ovation.zip .. and problems.
1. In recovery installed cm-10.2-20130814-NIGHTLY-ovation.zip
2. booted
3. I then went back into recovery and installed the new Gapps gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
4. Booted
5. Went back into recovery and formatted cache and davlik
6. booted
After swipe to desktop... What is failing: Chromecast crashes, Google voice crashes, Google Play Music crashes. Google Play Store will not actually do downloads of updates... it shows a new GMaps and Google Play Music - (newer than the new Gapps) - but refuses to download them, the download instantly fails.
My failing Google Play Store shows Build version: 4.3.11
Even though the Chromecast app crashes, I can still control Chromecast device with the Netflix app.

Took me a bit to figure out that the Google apps that were crashing are not part of the gapps zip package. You should just need to uninstall the offending app(s) and then reinstall via the Play Store and they should work fine. They did for me at least.
Lets continue in the thread here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389813
THIS THREAD SHOULD BE CLOSED.
Sorry, I have been either not seen it before or the upper one hase been renamed. It doesn't make sense to handle the same version in different threads.
Starbright, this is for the native (as in on the internal sd) version, not the on that runs from an external card, and therefore will have different issues and solutions to said issues.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew how long it normally took for google app update rollouts. Apparently version 3.4 of google search came out last Wed. When I look at the app in the play store it says the last update was on May 2nd. What's weird is when I scroll down it says that the update is 3.3 (which is what I have). Also, when I look at reviews, the ones from May 2nd show up as "old version". I tried this on my N5, N7 2013, and on my sister's N7 2012, and all three devices are the same. The N5 and N7 2013 are on the same account and the older N7 is on a different one. I'm using gravity box to change the dpi of my navigation keys on my N5, and I heard sometimes play store messes up when you do that, but seeing as the problem occurs on my non-rooted tablets it can't be that. Anyone else not getting the update?
I used to have that problem with some apps and I'd have to go to Android Police or other external source. But as far as GAPPS are concerned, I'd look at the 0day PA GAPPS thread
1. You won't be monitoring for a new update
2. You have the latest of every Google App

So even though I have use the stock ROM I should overwrite the GAPPS with those?
You can. All you're essentially doing is overwriting the current GAPPS on your phone located in system/app and system/priv-app with the one from the package. I've done it a few times. Stock and a few aosp ROMs. As always, with anything I'd always make a nandroid better safe than sorry.
Assuming you're only after one app, Android Police releases leaked Google Apps as soon as they have them. Just Google search your title of this thread and Android Police.

Got it, thanks a lot. I was just curious why it wasn't updating itself on three different devices almost a week after it was rolled out. What I also find weird is, after updating using the android police link, in the play store it still shows 3.3 as latest.

You may need to delete it manually either use a root Uninstaller or Root file Explorer and hunt down the Velvet.apk in system/app or system/priv-app (I can't remember which of the two and delete it and try installing) then try reinstalling the Android Police one. Should work, if not try wiping caches and rebooting.

Wiping cache for play store or google search?
Edit: Hmm, I cleared the data/cache for play store and cache for google search and rebooted still nothing. I guess it's fine though. Hopefully once the next update comes it will fix itself.

I'm not the moderation team, but coming from rules if I understand them correctly all questions about apps/devices pertaining to the device your using goes under the Q&A forum of your device.Glad to see that the official Google app push corrected the information for you. The app may have been installed, but because it wasn't officially pushed to Google Play yet, you weren't seeing the correct version.
I've been seeing quite a few posts on reddit about problems encountered when updating to CM13, and although I haven't used XDA in a while, thought maybe you guys could use some help
When updating, make sure you have Marshmallow Gapps. If you accidentally update and you don't have the gapps downloaded, you can always ADB it through the recovery (which is what I did).
You will almost inevitably have Google Play Services crash on you. A lot. So go to settings, apps, find GPS (make sure to have show system apps enabled) and make sure all permissions are checked for GPS. This fix works on other constantly crashing apps too.
If this doesn't work, or if all the permissions are already enabled, the next step is just to clear data within the app.
These two steps fix alomst all problems to do with apps constantly (or not constantly crashing after updating to CM13.
Find CM13 downloads/changelogs here for all the different devices.
Use the appropriate Gapps file from here. Make sure you select the correct platform.
Any further questions/stuff you want to add to this please post below!

No Gapps means no contacts imported from Gmail.. No Gmail.. No Play store.. No Play Services.. Apps would be redundant as well.

Yeah, like geekynoob said, you don't theoretically NEED to flash gapps, but you will lose all Google functionality within your device. You won't be able to access playstore, gmail, use chrome, anything. If that's what you want, then sure, go for it, but there's very little point unless you're doing something quite custom.
What if i install gmail, chrome and other apk's directly will it work ?

Those individual apps will work, yes, but remember Gapps is more than just that. The setup wizard, Android Pay, most of the Sync options, Google Play Games, e.t.c. It's definitely worth installing Gapps if you're going to be using Google services. Why are you thinking of not flashing gapps?

Yesterday I did flashed Resurrection Remix on my Old Samsung Note 2 without Gapps and it was way faster. After flagging Gapps it became lagy. So i removed Gapps and manually installed gmail YouTube and chrome and now it is faster and light.

Fair enough. Reason Gapps lag out the phone sometimes (they shouldn't with a OnePlus One) is because of all the extra functionality they add. Also, remember stuff like PlayStore doesn't work, so you'll have to either use a third party store or download all your apps from online. You can get very light Gappshere which shouldn't lag out your phone nearly as much.
I own a Xperia Z2 with CM12.1 + M5 kernel but I don't think this problem is related to a specific device or ROM because before this I had an S4 with same problems .
Almost everytime I try to download an app/game bigger than 20-30Mb , the download progress bar fills to 100% then it starts downloading again and when it reaches 100% I get error 963 "app can't be downloaded"
I tried cleaning cache of phone , cleaning cache + data of plays store , rebooting but nothing helps , I just can't download some apps/games .
Does anyone have an idea what should I do ? Is really annoying ...
anyone ?
c'mon , am I the only one with this problem ?
Have you tried unmounting the SD card and installing the app?
Give it a try.
Unmount the SD Card, not remove it, then download the app. It should install fine.
Have you updated your Play Store to 6.3.12A? If yes, revert back to 6.0.5. It'll trigger 963 error when updating apps.
It won't affect clean install anyway.

Lol I didn't notice it! I see that update recently on XDA Labs app. But, I think it's better to obtain updated Open GApps as I'm using it.
Btw I'm on 6.3.12A as I said with clean installation of BeanStalk and everything goes fine.

Hello, I just got my device today.. set it up and disabled ads and everything but there is this issue where when I search something on the Google app and shows a play store suggestion, if I click that, the phone asks "Open with" but with no app options. This issue is not only for the Google app, but every other app as well. If any other app has a button that is supposed to open Play store, the same problem appears. I'll attach a link to the video to show a sample of the problem.

Well it looks like you uninstalled something which was necessary for the system to function smoothly. More like a backend service. Flash MIUI again and only remove the app based services like Analytics, don't tamper with the system apps...
I do not have the device rooted but I did uninstall some apps which I could uninstall directly. So I tried installing the latest MIUI from updater but that didn't work for me. Do you mean to say I should factory reset the device and check? Because in too lazy to set up the device again?

No No don't factory reset, just do a dirty flash, i.e flash your current MIUI again through the MiFlash tool (Don't flash older versions nor you will end up with a bootloop), that should install the necessary apps again.
No actually its a bug in miui 10.3.12 which is already reported to xiaomi

Thanks for your suggestion. I took some time and performed a factory reset from recovery and after setting up the device, I looked if the issue was still there. Fortunately, it showed two options for me : "Complete action using : GetApps or Play Store." So I chose play Store as default now. To be honest, I still don't know what actually caused the problem. I hadn't uninstalled any system app nor the GetApps app. However the issue is now fixed for me. Thanks for your time and help.?

What really happened was, I had set Play Store as default over GetApps last time I reset it. So the links were automatically opening in play store. 2 days ago, I cleared the data of Play Store because I wanted the new material design of Play Store. Unfortunately, I did not get that and when I had cleared the data, as usual, the defaults I set for play store were cleared too. But if the defaults were cleared, it should have given me the options again. But it isn't.
EDIT: I found out that this bug is common for all Redmi Note 7 Pro devices running MIUI 10.3.12 Global. I tested one of my relative's N7P to see if the bug was there and it was! If you guys are not finding the bug, try clearing Play Store's app data and try again. I'm sure you guys will find the bug.
