I have a SM-G360T1 on 5.1.1 from Metro PCS. I don't need root access or want to flash a custom ROM but I want to remove the Metro PCS splash screens on startup/shutdown and I want to remove all of the Metro PCS bloatware...
I'm told that an option would be to flash a factory firmware to my phone (like the one you'd get if you bought the phone directly from samsung?)
How would I go about doing this? Can I use Kies or do I need to use Odin? Will this still trip Knox?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
when I look up firmware for the SM-G360T1 it only comes in the T-Mobile variant... Meaning it will almost certainly have the Metro PCS crap on it.
There are many version of the Galaxy Core Prime that are the same hardware, but they each have a different version of android it seems and are for different carriers and countries. Would flashing one of their firmwares kill the phone?

I'm thinking no, but wondering if it is OK to flash a stock Odin fw that is different from the device's carrier? Has anyone tried this? From what I recall from other Samsung devices, worst case is it would fail but not brick the phone. But still want to see if there's any feedback for this phone.
Have a SM-N915V here (SIM unlocked) in Canada and would like to flash a Rogers stock fw onto it if possible.
I guess NO
Reason : both the device have different partitions(that is the only thing i guess). if partitions can be matched it can be tried as hardware is more or less same.
Still i would suggest take a full Nandroid backup including the efs, and flash the firmware, even if you brick you can recover.
Thanks. I assume this is where .PIT's come in - but I understand the danger of force-flashing a PIT of one model to another model. Too scared to brick. Will stick with Verizon firmware ;D
Hello,
I bought a G930VL (Straight-Talk) S7 a few months ago, but I'd like to use it on a different service, specifically ting, to save money.
I have read about others flashing the G930V firmware onto the G930VL and successfully using the phone on Verizon.
I'm unsure of what model firmware to flash however to make it work with ting (G930V vs G930U vs G930F), or where to find a guide I can follow to go about doing this.
Thanks for any help,
Matt

All I know is the U software is way better after ya locate a way to unlock the bootloader on the phone so it wouldnt interferes with other security part and lock ya from using it at all bricked software iv'e done it with a galaxy proclaim a while back and I really love it without cell service preinstalled locked bloatware tht ya cant completely uninstall em but uninstalled updates for em and disable em is comes close to u firmware
Ok, so my question ha a few points here. I have been flashing roms for many years but never really though of this until recently as I now have an unlocked phone.
1. As my Sprint Note 5 is unlocked, can I flash say the Unlocked Version of software to the phone taking away carrier branding? I manage a store from another carrier and I hate that when I boot my phone it shows Sprint. I know it will not trip knox as long as it is Official Stock software.
2. If I do flash said Unlocked version software replacing Sprint software, will it change my connection at all? I have seen that flashing ATT software on a Verizon device did manage to improve ATT tower connection however I wonder if this is maybe a placebo effect as opposed to actually changing the bands and connections the device makes.
If you guys could help me out that would be great. :good:
Cheers
There is no unbranded firmware for the Sprint model because well, it is a exclusive model so even if you flash XAS instead of SPR firmware some or all apps will still appear. The only way to get rid of everything Sprint is via custom ROM= tripped KNOX. The SM-N920P cannot run another firmware.
I was able to save a ton on my monthy bill by moving from AT&T to T-mobile.
The rest of the family all had iPhones so the move was relatively smooth for them.
I have a Samsung S7 Active (G891A). I have been able to get it to work on T-Mobile network,
However, there are still tons of AT&T only settings and apps and stuff still hanging around.
I am looking for advice as to what to do ...
Live with it?
Use a custom ROM? If so which?
What are ramifications of custom ROM (the phone is obviously unlocked)?
Thanks
If the active has an unlocked variant, you could flash the unlocked firmware via Odin which has no bloat.
Custom ROM's won't be an option if it's a Snapdragon/Qualcomm SoC since they have locked bootloaders.
I was only able to find S8 active firmware from the usual sites (updato & sammobile) but there was an S8 unlocked variant so there has to be an S7 unlocked variant.
I have an 950U running N950USQS2BQL5 firmware but the boot screen and software is ATT branded.
It's stuck on 7.1.1 for obvious reasons. Is there any way to get it to Oreo besides flashing ATT firmware on it?
Thanks for all help!
If I remember right, the files from Samsung look at the installed sim card and install the correct version from that. You "should" be able to Oden the latest firmware and it will correct itself. It will wipe everything on the phone, so make a backup.
