So i bought this hoping it would be awesome like most Anker products but after 30 seconds of charging and showing the lightning it stops charging. Itis the same issue aome people have been having with the Aukey version of qucikcharge 2.0 battery packs. Anyone have a positive experience with either yet? [emoji22] I called Anker the did not know of any issues and said to return or exchange it.
I actually just got this same battery pack today and so far it's working fine for me. Charges fast as heck. I'm using a new Anker Powercore cable with it as well.
I just received the this item today because I had the Aunkey Quick Charge battery pack and it was doing the same thing.
I opened up the package of the battery pack and plugged it in my phone it recognized it right away and started charging. Its stayed charging for about 20 seconds then it shut off. I pushed the button and it said turbocharging again, this time it shut off after about 30 seconds. I rebooted the phone plugged it in and this time it lasted about 15 minutes. Getting frustrated now,I started up the charger again by pushing the button and went an took a shower and it's still going now. very unreliable. Tomorrow I'm going to run my phone down to whatever it is at the end of the day, plug the battery pack in, and note how many times it shuts off and note what the battery percent is at.. Something is definitely wrong with these battery packs and the Motorola pure. hopefully its just a software issue and Motorola can push an update.

+lk2race do you have one of these quick charger batteries?
FYI...I've had the Powercore+ 10050 for two days now and has worked every time I've used it. I'm using an Anker Powercore cable I purchased separately.

My aukey charges it everytime as well and doesn't shut off like some people are reporting. But what I am sure is it's NOT charging using quick charge 2.0 since it's pretty slow. I also noticed at random times it says Turbo charger recognized and it shows up every couple minutes. So if it's charging really slow, and that keeps popping up. Our phone probably has trouble with these quick charge 2.0 battery packs. I bought 3 of these so I might return my phone if I can't get these to work :crying: It's past 30 days for these chargers also so I can ONLY return this awesome phone and MAYBE get a new nexus 5x

I'm having no issues with the Anker battery pack and it definitely quick charges.
Figured out the trick with these quickcharge troubles. For a car charger plug the cable into the phone then the charger in the light plug. Toast notification will pop up and your good to go. Got the anker qc power+ 10050 to work with their powerline cord with the same process. Remember plugh cord into the phone first then plug the cord into the powerpack. Toast notification will show and it will NOT quit charging in 30 seconds like it does if you plug it in any other way.

Hi
It seems that the trick doesn't work for me. Some say the battery works with Mono and Anker cables.
I know it doesn't work with the cable that comes with the Ancker battery and it won't with
cable that comes with Tronsmart QC 2.0 Car Charger even though car charger and cable do
work in Turbo with MXPE. Ankers knows there is a problem and I emailed Moto and QualComm.
I am ready to give up with Ancker

I have noticed that it works more consistently when i plug it in when the battery on the phone is less than 20%

Anker powercore+ issue
I bought the Powercore+ in place of my anker e3. When I got it I pressed the button and it had 7 lights on it which indicated atleast 70%. I then took the anker powerline USB that I bought and plugged it in the battery pack and the phone and the lights went off. Even when I press the button they don't show so I decided to charge it. I left it overnight and when I came back it was the same as how it was the night...the lights just kept spinning. When it's off the charger and I press the button the lights still do not come on. It is not working. Help me!!! By the way I use anker powerport+1 to charge it.

So my co-worker has an Asus transformer like i do and he is on his 3rd charger for it. So i have been lending him mine while he waits for his new one. So last night he borrowed it and when i went to charge mine it no longer works. Are the chargers really this faulty or could it be his device that is killing the charger?
After charging my tablet for a while or overnight the charger does not work either.
So what I do is either wait it out or throw it in a ziploc bag and toss it in the freezer(I can't remember where I found this tip but it does work).
The charger gets excessively hot after 2 hours of straight charging and as a safety feature I believe it shuts off. Throwing it in the freezer simply resets the charger I believe, and it is only for about 15 minutes.

They definitely have different versions, the later version 0B-2LF, 0B-3LF (?) are supposed to be less failure prone.
You can always make a Do It Yourself (DIY) charger with a wall charger and USB A Female to 5525 Plug Female Power Adapter.
I’ve got similar experience – when I’ve tried to charge tablet second time after few hours of playing with it, when I’ve plugged charger in, icon didn’t show me expected “charging” icon. At first I’ve thought that was faulty cable but plugged to PC worked fine. Then I’ve found some info that connectors between charger and plug adaptor tend not to have a contact. I’ve taken out plug adaptor and bent slightly those 2 wires on charger, then connected the plug adaptor back. When I’ve plugged it into wall socket – it worked. I’m on 0L-1LF model.
I've encountered this problem too. At first I thought the charger was dead, but when I rebooted the transformer while plugged, it start to charge again. Maybe you should try that.
It probably still charges or has some charge optimization like my Lenovo laptop has. Mine does the same but never any issues.

Another succesful "freezer" here.
To document - My powerstrip turn off with PC and charger is plugged in to it. Tablet was @ < 20% when I put on to charge, not realizing strip was off (company in town so wife wanted it off in case room was needed for kids), got up next morning and now tablet @ < 4%. Took charger and tried multiple outlets and none would charge and charger was not warm. Tablet @ < 4% and now plugged to USB port on laptop (recongized USB Debug and Asus Sync) so it is trickle charging sort of. Search turns up this (and a couple of others) tread. Turned off tablet (to improve trickle charge performance) and waited the 15 minutes. Removed charger from freezer, plugged into wall, plugged in tablet and tablet turned on and now shows as charging.
I assume this is a hardware/software/firmware problem in that the charger is not going to burn itself out trying to push too much voltage and the reduced charge state of tablet is raising resistence and the firmware has a pointer wrong and it needs to be a little colder to be right.
No idea but thanks for the tip.
I got kinda freaked out when my charger didn't work with my tablet last time. I blamed the custom rom since it happened a couple days after I rooted and flashed a custom rom on it, and I never had trouble with stock before. But, it wasn't the charger, since I plugged in the dock and it could charge. So maybe sometimes the tablet doesn't take in a certain amount of voltage or something..? (It was fine after I rebooted.. or update roms, can't remember.)
I once thought that my charger had died but then I tried a hard reset (hold the power button down for 10 seconds) and it started working again. It's worth giving it a go before you go out and buy a new charger.

I think there is something off with his TF if it killed 3 or 4 chargers.
My charger died and no amount of putting it in the freezer or anything else would make it work again.
The only thing I did was pull the cable out attach the TF to my laptop and download files to a different Micro SD card I had bought. Plugged it back in and no workie.
Lucky I had bought another charger for a spare and had it to check the cable ..charger and make sure it what part actually wasn't working...and charge my TF.
It's at an ASUS service center hopefully being fixed.
They do go bad. Theres been documented problems with them just like the dock,, and tablet. When your trying to build the cheapest tablet around ...parts and some things provided by other manufactures ( I know Asus doesn't make everything that goes into it) don't always turn out as well as you've planned.
Hello there,
I decided to open this thread as I've now had a bunch of issues with the stock charger that came with the device and it would be interesting to know if there's anyone else who's having this type of issues.
The exact issues that I've been having with the stock charger seems to be that the charger doesn't output enough of a amperage for the tablet to hold charge while in use, and even when it's not in use it takes almost 7-8 hours to charge from 50% up to 100%. It's as slow as if I would charge it from a regular USB port, if not, even slower and I don't really know why exactly this happens as it says that it's charging from AC adapter in settings.
To comfirm my issue was not related to the tablet itself, I used another charger that's rated at similar specs to the stock charger (2.1A) but with the same Micro-Usb cable that came with the tab. With that charger, it charged up from 50% extremely fast (around 1,5 hour) and I could even use the tablet while charging without any battery drops. So that comfirms two things, it's not related to the tablet or data cable but to the actual charger itself.
Anyone else that's been having this type of issues with the stock charger?
My tab needs max. about 3 hours to charge full and imo it's ok. Tried charging during Half Life2 gaming and can confirm that there's not a lot of charging going on, maybe 1or 2% in an hour. But that's ok for me, as long as it doesn't start to get emty while charging during gaming.
The charger is defective or don't bring enough power to the unit. I also get negative charge while playing high end games an also increase when i am, on Optimized mode. Many others has reported this situation on GeForce forums but nVidia is quiet about it.

I get negative charge even when doing basic tasks like listen to music or watch a video with the stock charger, so I guess my charger is faulty. I've already reported the issue to Amazon and they gave me a 50GBP partial refund (80 USD!) because of the faulty charger without having to ship anything back.
I just find it odd that theres many people that have the issue and nvidia doesn't seem to do anything about it either!

If i were you, i'll check with another charger doing normal stuff, if you still get negative charger maybe it could be your battery itself.

My guess is that a faulty cable or the charger itself is causing D+ and D- to not be shorted together by the charger, resulting in the tablet thinking it's charging from a USB port instead of a dedicated charger.
Does device status report charging state as Charging (USB) instead of Charging (AC)?
I admit I never even unwrapped the stock charger, I've got one of those nice Anker 40W 5-port chargers along with a bunch of 24/28AWG MicroUSB cables from Monoprice.

The charger appears as AC in settings, so it should be charging faster than it does.
I'm using a charger similar to what you use right now, a Dodocool 4 port charger that works great! However, I'm using the stock cable.
First make sure you are using stock charger and cable.
If you see discharge during non intensive activities you may have a defective charger. Nvidia has rma'd the charger by itself for people.
I have the same issue but my charging time is a bit better 3-4 hours. But what is really annoying that it makes a lot of electrical noise. I have a lot of things that I charge, but I have never heard this so load earlier. Its coming from the adapter, I can cleary hear from 3m. Anybody has similar issue? I try to record the sound, and send to nvidia. Maybe they will react.

Sorry to dig up this thread but I've had the same issue and i was WTF-ing like crazy until i switch the USB cable to a charging cable i got from a power bank... The charge time dropped from 6-7 hours to 2-3 hours. I'm not sure why, perhaps my cable is faulty or perhaps it was meant to charge like this, or perhaps it is supposed to be used to connect a controller only (both ends seem to have a controller icon on them)?

It's not due to the MicroUSB cable but due to a wallwart that's messing up the amperage I believe, as I've used the MicroUSB cable with other wallwarts and it charges normally then

Contact amazon and tell them exactly about the issue, they'll compensate you for it probably. I got 50£ back from Amazon.co.uk for the broken charger, which is quite a bit of money.

Thanks for the tip, i'll give that a try
Well, same thing here. Just noticed it while using Skype. Battery dropped from 100% to 95% pretty quickly while charging.
I'm going to ask Amazon for another charger or compensation.
I have a 2.4A charger and still battery no good.
I lose around 2% per min of battery charge while idling with battery saving features on (2 cores shut off, CPU frequency set at 50% and Framerate locked at 30FPS) when ingame the battery drops 2-3 times faster. takes 2 hours to charge from 97% to 100% and 2 mins to lose that charge. I think I bought a Tablet that has a faulty battery as this is not acceptable. My tablet is unusable as the battery takes a couple of mins to lose 3% of charge and a couple of hours to regain the 3% charge only to lose that charge (and then some) when I try to use the tablet.
My nexus 5 went to 0% battery one night and died. I tried charging it with 4 different chargers, some with usb some outlet and a wireless charger to no avail. I then purchased 2 new batteries and the phone was able to turn on with the replacement ones. However they would not charge. On the battery status screen it would go from saying Charging (on AC or USB depending on how i was trying to charge it) for 5~ seconds to saying Not Charging. The charging icon was still on the little toolbar battery icon but it would not charge. So those two new batteries are dead :good:. So I thought maybe software issue, I had enough juice to get in the bootloader and flash back to 4.4.4 which would still not allow it to charge. Then I started flashing to other versions and eventually back to 5.1.1 to no avail. I replaced the charging port with one from my brothers nexus 5 and it still would not work. My battery and charging port worked in his phone however.
Now I don't know what to do! This is the first phone I've really had to research about bootloaders and roms and stuff so I'm fresh.
TL;DR: Phone goes from charging for 5 sec to not charge with different software versions (4.4.4, 5.1.1 +more), with many different chargers (including one that came with phone), with new battery and new charging port.
Thanks.
Mine did that with a new battery also. The new battery was a dud--I contacted the seller, who sent me another battery, and that one does charge.

if the actual USB port is working on ur brother's and so is the battery, i am afraid then u have a bad Motherboard...
theres a Texas Instruments BQ24192 I2C controller chip, that is what regulates charging, such as voltage, etc...
if it doesnt even respond to wireless charging, that may be bad https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016#s53734
that would be my guess....
Well technically it responds to it but it only lasts for a few seconds. Wireless charging and wired charging get a response from the phone by changing it to say charging on ac or usb or whatever but it just goes back to saying not charging after ~5 seconds. Is this still a bad mother board you think? Is it worth it to try and purchase a motherboard or just get a new phone?
Any solution for this? Came later but did come to this problem.
I have had and used this on my Droid Turbo, worked great thought I would have no problem using it with my Pure Edition.
http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Cert...400mAh+Portable+External+Battery+Fast+Charger
Now that I have the Moto X Pure I plug it in and it shuts off about 10 seconds after. anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: thats weird seems to be fine now. Wish i could remember what i did to fix it. I was messing with this way and that.
Nope still not working with my Moto X Pure Edition.
Will see if they replace it.
It works with other Quick charge phones like Nexus 6 but shuts its self off about 10sec after turning it on in the Moto X Pure.
I see a few of you purchased this item does it work for anyone else?
They must have changed something on the charging port. I have the nexus 6 too.
I have Android auto, the cord that works for my nexus 6 doesn't work on the moto x. It will flash the debug icon then shut off repeatedly.
But the turbo charger cord from the nexus 6 charger does work.
I know kinda off topic, but I think it is a similar issue.

This is a 2015 Moto X issue. I have seen other threads in other forums posting this problem (not just me). I did try different cable and same result. I think it because of the wattage.
I email Aunkey about this and no response yet (been 1 day)

Thanks for contacting us.
Because we have no this phone to have a test, and we can not figure out if this phone is incompatible with this item. So we can only give you a full refund for this item. We are afraid a replacement can not solve this problem..So please feel free to tell us if it is acceptable to you.

Okay so I got the Anker Power Core 10050 battery pack quick charge from Amazon today. I opened up the package and plug the battery pack in the phone, it started charging right away for about 20 seconds and then shut off. I unplugged the battery pack and plugged it back in the phone had no idea it was plugged in and ready to be charged, so I pushed the button on the battery pack and it charged for about 30 seconds and shut off. I grabbed a battery pack that is not quick charge and plugged it into my phone and it was fine continue to charge. I plugged back in the quick charge battery pack and it continued to charge for about 15 minutes I looked over and it was shut off again. started the battery pack again went and took a shower and now it's still going looks like it'll make 100% from 60%.
I would challenge anybody that has this battery pack or the other battery pack to try and plug it in from at least 30% battery and let the thread know that its ok or you're having the same issue.
Just curious...what kinds of cables are you guys using? I'm guessing the Pure is sensitive to quality cables since the stock charger is attached.

I had the exact same issue with both the anker cable and another one. Something is wrong. Called anker and they had no clue and suggested it might be a bad unit. I returned it but looking for something else until anker figures it out.

Do any of you have the older Anker or other external battery packs where it charges? the Anker IQ is suppose to charge the phone at its highest speed. I have two of these and wonder if I would have issues with these or if its just a Quick Charge issue.
With the Anker IQ, charging my LG G3 is pretty quick. Quicker than using the wall unit.
I think it's just a quick charge issue. The battery quick chargers are useless for the pure since they shut off weather you want it to turbo charge of not, you get nothing, no charge

Awesome! Thanks.
For those who are having issues with the Aukey/Anker Quick Charge battery packs, might as well just get the IQ which seems to charge just as fast and with no issues.

Here is all the Anker battery packs - http://amzn.to/1gACOEs
I have two of these - http://amzn.to/1MiGB50
All the basic Anker battery packs come with IQ charging which adjusts the charging speed based on how fast the device can charge. I use it to charge my LG G3, iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10". Has no problem charging one or all 3 devices at the same time.
BTW, you'll need a wall charger to help charge the Anker at a decent speed - http://amzn.to/1YnYYMj

I'm thinking out of picking up the Incipio battery mod. I normally plug in with about 30% left but after my research on prolonging battery life, I'm realizing the battery mod might actually extend the life of the Z Force battery.
Any ways, the point/question is: do you leave the mod always attached and charge it at night (or when you need to)? Or do you only attach the mod when your battery hits a certain percentage?
So far I only lose about 20% during a day. I know that's not much but I'm connected to a 4g network extender so I don't search for a signal.
To answer your question the first day I had the battery mod I set it in efficiency mode and just slapped it on. That sets the mod battery to kick in when the phi e battery hits 80%. It worked like a charm. At the end of the day my mod was at 70%.
I only used it the first day and since then it's just been sitting there charged. But I try to not let my battery fall below 70-80%.

I leave my tumi battery mod connected all of the time.

Hopefully you will find my experience with the TUMI Wireless charging mod relevant, as I don't have experience with the incipio. I leave the TUMI on at all times. When I plug in before bed the TUMI stays attached and charges along with the phone. When I unplug and both the mod and phone are at 100%, the phone discharges until 80% when the TUMI kicks in automatically and keeps the phone charged at 80% until the TUMI hits 0% at which point the phone begins discharging from 80%. I've had this for a couple weeks now and my phone's battery level now occupies 0% of my thoughts throughout the day. It's like being back to the days of the flip phones that ran for 2 or 3 days before needing a charge (... at least that's a safe assumption, as I have no reason to not plug in before bed thus I've never tried to see how many days I can get). I leave every possible background process on, I have 4 or 5 widgets, wifi, Bluetooth, mobile data, high accuracy location mode, Nfc... all those are left on 100% of the time.
The one thing I will say is that the battery mod does add significant weight... but not size (I actually find it easier to hold with the mod attached). For me the extra weight is, comparatively, a very small price to pay for the above benefits.

For the record, the Tumi, Kate Spade, and Incipio should all behave identically...as they are all made by Incipio...the only differences between the 3 are looks...and price

This.
I want to be able to use my phone as it was meant to be used without thinking about battery life later in the day.
Note that only the non-wireless model charges the mod through the phone when the phone is plugged in via wire...
The wireless charging capable Tumi mod only charges via wireless. It will NOT charge through the phone.
Obviously when wireless charging it will charge both the mod and phone. When wired charging it only does the phone and not the mod.
However the non-wireless one does charge the mod when charging via wire (I tested it).

Wow seriously? So if I got the Incipio with wireless charging from Best Buy, I wont be able to charge it without buying a wireless charging pad?

Not true, I have the Tumi wireless mod: wired & wireless both charge mod & phone.
I have two of both models of Tumi in front of me, and I am 100% sure neither of the wireless models will charge through the phone when it is connected via USB. Not sure why yours is different...
To be clear both of the non-wireless models I have DO charge through the phone when connected via USB...

I have the incipio wireless charging battery pack, can confirm it does charge when the phone is connected with usb.
I wonder if it matters if the mod is in 'efficiency mode' or not... I didn't think so from previous testing, but I'll check that tomorrow.
Edit: I have been using another usb-c cable/charger, not the 'turbo 30' one that came with the phone... That may be the difference. I'll test tomorrow.

So I'll have to apologize. I charged one of the phones with the usb charger that came with the phone, and it DID charge both the phone and mod.
So I must have something else going on with my setup at work, as it definitely does NOT there (even after being plugged in for hours) ...
Sorry for the confusion, and misinformation!

It's been noted that the mods don't charge through the phone on anything but the stock charger or anything that puts out more than 3A @ 5V. That's the minimum requirement for engaging "turbo charging".
I bought my wife the Kate Spade battery pack and it officially died as a result of using a Droid Turbo 1 charger for her nightly charge. The first week or two, it charged just fine throughout the night. Now, however, it won't charge, even on the stock charger (although it will sometimes glitch out and say there is a 97% charge while still not supplying juice to the phone).
I have the Tumi with wireless charging, and I definitely prefer being able to charge it without the phone attached. As for my wife's, Big Red said that they offer a 1 year warranty on accessories, so I'll be able to take the dead one in for an exchange.
Word to the wise: use the stock charger whenever charging your phone with a non-wireless charging model of the battery packs attached. Wireless charging seems to work just fine, every night.

Actually I get my battery mod to charge using the Verizon branded usb c fast charger. I made sure it worked in a store before I bought it. It does pop up saying turbo charging also. It is not as fast as the Motorola charger. I use Ampere to test them. The Verizon charger is about 2200 and the Motorola one is about 5700. But that and the supplied charger are the only ones that will work to charge the mod. I got screen shots somewhere. I'll try to post them.

The screen shot with the white background shows the supplied Motorola charger.
The screen shot with the white background is the Verizon branded USB C fast charger.
Hope this helps. I've tried using about 15 different chargers and these were the only 2 that would charge the battery mod. That's not to say there's not other ones out there that will do it. Just sharing what I've found.

I had the Tumi wireless battery mod. Changed it to the Incipio wireless battery mod. heres what I have found. Both will charge wireless. They will not however charge using any chargers, while connected to phone, without using the supplied charger or the verizon branded usb c fast charger. Both just sit there with any other charger saying waiting to charge.
I spent more time than ill admit to speaking to verizon tech support, motorola tech support, tumi tech support and incipio tech support verifying this.
Yes any charger will charge the phone. but it needed to turbo charge to be able to switch to charging the battery mod. Ive tried about 10 different chargers to test this. QC 2.0 chargers from the turbo chargers wont charge the battery mods.
I use a generic QC 2.0 charger at home, work, and in the car. All three charge the Tumi mod and the phone. Also use a wireless charger plugged into my computer which charges both. I don't think I've even unwrapped the charger that came with the phone.
It is strange how some chargers work and some don't. I have 5 usb-c chargers, 2 work and 3 don't.
