Hi! I'm formatting my SD Card from my smartphone trough an root app, doing that got my SD Card clusters/MBR (Master Boot Record) damaged, and thinking of connecting it trough the PC makes no sense, it would say "Bad Disk" on "MIniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" and some others, like "EaseUS Partition Master"!.
I get that solution on WIndows, and doesn't test nothing on Linux, (my main OS is Windows). So, let's go!

"Assuming here is your SD Card (Appearing as Bad Disk), simply right click it!

Click "New simple volume" and go trough the formatting wizard!
Ok guys! That's all, if you need help in some other things, don't wait and PM me!
Hi,
Thank you for the contribution. But here is where you should post this,

Thanks!
Requirements:
1. Rooted Yuphoria phone with any ROM (this MAY work in other Yu phones.)
2. SE Linux Mode Changer app
One-Time Initial Steps:
1. Open SE Linux Mode Changer app and set it to 'Permissive' mode.
(This is required for write operations in SD card to work, else SD Card will be mounted as read-only).
2. Download and install the app from this thread: USB Mass Storage Universal.apk.
Steps to Enable UMS (USB Mass Storage):
1. Connect phone to Computer or TV or DVD or whatever.
2. Open the 'Universal UMS' app and press 'Enable UMS (soft method)' and give it root access.

Note:
It might take few seconds to get connected since CM uses dynamic partitions mounting
(It takes time to transfer the handle to LUN)
So be patient
That's it! Mass Storage Mode will be enabled.
Hit the Thanks Button if it worked
New App Added
I've just created an app for UMS, based on the previous script file..
yap

My screenshot is not working
Hi, i updated my moto G to MM
now i am stuck with this problem..
if i select my SD card as Portable storage after formatting .. i can use my SD card,
else
if i select my SD card as internal store, its Formatting then its moving 5 gb for more than 6hours, i observed that after 53% of moving its again starting from 20% is looping there only
so, i felt it would be better to Factory data reset : so that it wont have any files to move .. is it going to help ??
i mad this thread because Factory reset is taking long
Things i tried :
tried putting my SDcard into my Lumia 730,to check if its working or not ,
[
1) if formatted as portable storage then Lumia 730 is recognizing my memory card , but data writing is giving me error.
2) if formatted as Internal storage, then in lumia its showing as 15mb free
]
i tried recording and transfering files when used as Portable storage in my Moto G, its working fine
i also checked if SD card is really working with an app,

And full format ...then reset phone and insert card.
Hi guys,
I am pretty new in devices with expandable storage. I recently added one to my Z3 and I'd like to know if I can rename its name. I tried use Rename on Root Explorer, but it failed.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know there's no way to change the "folder name" of the sd-card within android.
It's not like this is the name of the sd card like in windows etc. as android generates a path
to a mount point of said sd card and the name is generated from the sd card serial number / UUID (at least since marshmallow).
Changing this mount point could lead to a bad outcome as all links to the mount point wouldn't work
anymore and apps would literally "serach" in the wrong place for the sd card.

Greets. Working with a shiny new G930F. Flashed Chainfire Root via Odin. Tweaked a bunch using Package Disabler. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I've run into a problem where none of the file managers I've tried (which have root permissions) will allow me to select the root of the external SD card for read/write permissions. I've tried ES File Explorer, Fx, Amaze, and a few others. Every time I try to modify the external sd card, I get a dialog (different in each app) explaining that I have to select the root of the sd card to continue, which I would happily do, except the following dialog has an 'Open From' menu, which is empty. Assuming that the 'Show SD Card' option hadn't been selected, I went ahead and checked. Sure enough, the dialog already had the "Show SD Card" option selected (now presented with a "Hide..." option).
I've checked every permission I can find but I'm not able to select the external SD Card root with any of these apps. The only app that will work, curiously enough, is the My Files app that ships with the phone. I'm at a loss, hoping one of you folks can help out with this one. Screenshots below for reference...

And just for good measure, Google Drive seems to have no issue with [what appears to be] the same dialog:
