Hi,
A friend, with an older version of Galaxy Note, can Show only contacts with phone number on his contact list.
It's seem to be impossible with my S6... Is it possible to add the trick? Or maybe I Missed something.
Thanks for your answer (and sorry for my english...)
It's hard to believe, but it is not an option on the S6. My old Galaxy Note 3 could do it, but not my newer S6.... It's a pain in the butt to see every Facebook friend in my contacts, instead of just those who I merged with my personal contacts with listed phone numbers. Plus every email address, of every person I've emailed without phone numbers listed. Way to go Samsung....
Ow f*ck, you're kidding me, right... Is there no solution for this ?
My carkit is useless now because I have to go through a sh*tload of contacts to whom I have ever mailed (so without any phone number whatsoever).
It really makes my carkit unusable now

Doesn't exist on Galaxy S6
It's there for me with back-to-n0t3 rom. My s6 was with the stock firmware only for a month or so and I didn't noticed dialer app adopted that annoying lollipop missing feature. I guess if it's important for you you will have to change the dialer or the rom.

The Title pretty much sums it up.
Contacts in my Google Account end up "joining" together so that I cannot find that contact on my phone at all.
Going to Gmail shows all contacts fine.
Typing in the phone number of a contact and dialing will show the "Joined contact's " name. Then I can go in and Menu>>Edit>>Separate...
How can I stop it from happening in the first place?
Most recent ones I've noticed are Al and Alex joining...
Also, my best friend (his full name is the contact) and his parents (who I just have listed by their last name)
There are more that I haven't found yet- but I just want to stop this from happening all together.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone found a way to import SMS messages into Phone 7 yet? I'm looking at moving from Android over to Phone 7 and I've got a few years worth as I was able to migrate them from my WinMo 6.x phone to Android when I made that change. If it can be avoided, I don't want to lose all my messages in the switch over to Phone 7.
there is no way currently to import sms or back them up either.
Not sure why you would want years of sms's.
I was afraid you'd say that.
honestly, I'm a recovering pack-rat so by nature I keep things until they get in my way. It has been handy though, I've dug a few alternate phone numbers and addresses out of the older messages a few times. This isn't a deal breaker for me, just not my ideal.
Thanks again for the info.
I can give you a pretty good reason - I need mine as proof against my psycho ex girlfriend. How's that for reason? I guess people have their reasons when they ask, don't you?

then keep the phone with them on it. And if you really need them for "proof", the police can get them from the carrier.
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
I take it that there is no way to transfer sms from one wp7 to another then?
I have a limited number of texts that I have managed to keep on the sim over the years for sentimental reasons, eg, from now deceased loved ones.
I have never understood why OFFICE has never integrated SMS, allowing you to use plug ins to send and store SMS . They have facebook etc connectors.
I thought all sms, pics, contacts etc could be synced with your email address and stored using microsoft myphone?

Hi Kappo
The OP wants to get the SMS's off his current Android phone and import them into his WP7 but has no way to get the messages into MyPhone
I have a problem with the native sense people/sms app. I have two contacts both having similar numbers i.e. one is +9198XXXXXXXX and other is +9199XXXXXXXX
HTC app does not differentiate between the two. Thus if I receive a call or message from one it shows under the name of the other. In case of messages app even the received from number shows as that of the other contact!!!
You can imagine the problems I am having when having to communicate with these two people. I even tried a third party message app like Go SMS but since the contacts are linked at the contacts app level Go does not distinguish between them.
Can anyone help please.
Hey I am having the same problem. I have my father No. +966505xxxxxxx and my brother has +966555xxxxxxx. The Sense is unable to differentiate the two and when my father calls me, it shows me my brother name... Using Stock ROM...
Have you checked to see if the contacts are linked? In the contacts app go to menu> more> linked contacts

No they are not linked...
I had this problem in old Nokia phones.
My iPhone identified the two contacts.
But sensation cannot identify the contacts as 2 different ones.
Not linked. Dont have this problem on the Samsung Galaxy S II. So I think its an HTC issue
Hi Guys
This is a wierd issue. My daughter is travelling in South America. She has, to all intents and purposes, lost her iPhone 3 or 4 and has bought a new Samsung Galaxy S4. With her new phone she had to buy a sim card. Her only means of contact with us is via Whatsapp and Viber. Since she has a new number and the two apps work off the old phone number is there any way to restore her old accounts to her new phone?
Appreciate some help
Brian

Hello,
As for Viber, she can simply reinstall it on her new device with the new sim, restoring previous account is not available.
Good luck!
So you are not talking about the messaging history to restore. But the app itself. In that case, I would say try to port the old phone number either to the new galaxy s4 or to a second device. After you get the number ported than its easy to intercept the whatsapp SMS verification code.
For the future, I recommend using a Google voice number to register with these apps. That way, you always have access to the number to verify. Of course you'll than have to deal with two numbers.. one is the real cell phone and the other for whatsapp and other apps.
Am I the only one having problems transitioning to the People application for HTC? I again hate to be that guy who says, "On the Samsung", but, on the Samsung phones, I could edit the contacts to take individual ringtones AND message alerts. This does not seem to be a feature with People. People also seems to be separating out my contacts by individual phone number and email. I'm certain its a learning process for me, but if ANYONE has any help, or suggestions I'd really really appreciate it.
TIA!!!

Sorry, I have no idea what kind of 3rd party app Samsung devices use, but I also only have the ability to assign an individual ringtone, not individual message alerts.
As far as it separating contacts by phone number and email, do you mean you have, for instance, one contact for your mom for her cell phone, and another separate contact for her email? Because that's not happening for me. If that's the case, Touchwiz may have stored contacts in an odd fashion that Google wasn't expecting, so when it pulled your contacts back down for your M8 it couldn't categorize them correctly? But that's just a wild guess. I came from a Galaxy Nexus, but before that I had a Droid X, and my contacts have been correct since day 1.

Yeah, that is exactly what I mean. and it appears to be all over the place. And this is just a personal feeling, but it doesn't feel clean. or intuitive. Not a biggie, I was just curious. I try to use stock applications, but if stock messaging won't let me assign specific message alerts, I'll just use something else.
Thanks for the reply.

No problem, sorry I couldn't help more. I actually just went through my contacts, and though there were a lot of dupes, it's actually because I apparently had separate contacts for some people (in all the cases the names of the dupes were slightly different, or only the first name for one, then first and last for the other, etc). But I didn't see any that were obviously just separated by the HTC app. Try Go Contacts maybe? It's fairly popular I think. I don't know if it supports per-contact message alert tones though, but I haven't used it in over 2 years.
You got to go into settings within the people app (from dialer), bro. Then you can uncheck all the extra pulls you don't need, then 'link' contacts. If you check in there now, and look above your name, I bet there are some link/join suggestions waiting for you.
I know exactly what you're talking. It's the first thing I did on this phone and it was a mess. Got it all cleaned up doing what I said above.
