Hello everybody. Does anyone know when and if samsung will update the camera software on the Galaxy S6 with raw support and shutter speed control like Note 5 or S6 edge plus? The hardware is identical, so it should be only a software improvement. And until then, is there a custom rom that ported the new camera app to Galaxy S6?

The 5.1.1 update was supposed to bring raw support. Sure speed control on the other hand I have heard nothing about

Well, seems like Shamesung has pulled a new low move from the shame hat. I just went an tested in a store a brand new s6 edge plus, installed Aida64, and the entire camera system, front and back sensor, image processing, etc, are exactly the same (this was Sony sensor). So they are trying to differentiate the Galaxy S6 from the more "pro" S6 edge+ or Note 5 just by software gimmiks... I am very disappointed, i payed a premium price for my Galaxy, it's only 4 months old... i want the phone to be the best as it can be, not artificially "gimped".

Hello!
It looks like the S6's camera can take better photos than Note 4/Edge, though as it's the same camera module, why Samsung is not releasing a Rom update to match the S6 camera quality?
Samsung is just trying to copy Apple that's all they don't intend to make things better for all level of users they try to create a smartphone class difference
Although they have the same Sony sensor, the s6 has an i.r sensor and more. It's more then software differences

maybe its my phone but my camera sucks. i mean i haven't looked at them on the pc but just taking normal indoor pics they seem very grainy and blurry even with ois
Then your Edge should go in service...the same problem I had a few weeks ago,and after samsung change the camera modul, everything is perfect....wish you good luck ...

Hi all, I'm considering the S6 or the Note 5 but mostly on camera features. I absolutely love the manual shutter speed option (up to 10 secs) on the Note 5 but if it's something that can be ported to the S6 I'll go with the S6 since it's cheaper and has enough features for me. After all they're using the same camera hardware so the features should be software-related only. Any thoughts?
Look out for the Note 5 Port in the develoment section. They ported the Note 5 Rom to the S6. Though Camera anf Fingerprint is buggy.
Since the SoC and camera (?) is the same and software is similar, there isa very high change it can be (and will be) ported.
Thanks, I thought so. The problem is that Open Camera with the S6's newest update still only allow up to 1/1.2 sec of shutter speed, wondering how can a port enable up to 10 secs. Could it be that the cameras are different? :crying::crying:
Greetings.
After going crazy looking for a phone to replace my Nexus 5 and not finding one that ticks all the boxes, I'm planning on getting a Galaxy S6. I'm not a fan of Touchwiz, but overall it seems to be the phone that best suits me. (Size, great camera, fast performance)
However today I was trying out a couple Samsung phones at a Sammie counter and I noticed the Galaxy S6 edge+ has shutter speed control on Pro mode. While the regular S6 (the one I'm interested in) doesn't.
Aren't the cameras the same on both models?
A friend who works at Samsung (marketing department) said he's pretty sure the regular S6 has shutter speed control on Pro mode.
I can't seem to find information on it o.o
So how is it? Does it have it now because of some software update? If not, is it in Samsung plans to bring it soon?
On a different note, is there anything terrible bad about the S6 I should be aware of before buying it? Random and formed opinions on the phone seem to be pretty good, but I wonder...
Thanks in advance
Your friend works at samsung and he gave you false info... no the Galaxy S6 has a max of 0.5 sec shutter speed and is only accessible with 3rd party camera apps and that really sucks
What?! even with third party software it's limited to 0.5 secs?
That sucks.
Well, I've also been looking at the LG g4. Does anyone have any experience with both phones?
The camera has more options however LG's software experience is even worse than Samsung I think. Plus the camera ain't always better
However, longer shutter is coming, as it is already included in the S6E+. Probably with the next update or Android 6
Hopefully!
Is there anything I should be aware about the S6?
One of the things I like the least on it is the notification menu full of buttons... I much rather have the Google's approach with a second page for the settings. Is it something you can change with root?

Hi I was just wondering where did you find that shutter speed for the samsung s6 and do you know what the default is I need to find this information for the s6 and iphone 6 but shutter speed along with information on the lens manufacture seems to be extremely difficult to find for some reason.

By checking the values in ProShot.
good night, wanted to know if you have the option of slimming face in front selfie mode camra of s6 (fat ) (my model 920i )
there any way to have it? try installing a rom based s7, but the camera app is the stock of s6 help me please
the problem with galaxy s7 camera is, that the app supports different hardware. there will be no way to completely port the s7 camera apk to the galaxy s6.
so every "s7 base" rom still has to use some party, libraries and so on from the galaxy s6, including the s6 camera.apk
So how is the J7 phone in comparison to the s7 edge? I have the s7 edge on crickett and probably will switch to metropcs so that i can get the new j7 phone free. Phone seems liek a lot of fun especially with these awesome roms
Is the camera about he same? Or the speed

yea but how is the j7 camera
I would like to know this too. I have a S7 Edge, but mostly using iPhone SE nowadays because I hate the idle battery drain (1% per hour in airplane mode).
I'm guessing camera speed will be really horrible, and quality will suck too. S7 Edge's camera launch speed also tends to slow down as you install more apps. This is another thing I don't like compared to iOS devices. On iOS you always get consistent speed launching camera and reviewing photos.
