Cm 12.1 unofficial moto x play lux - X Play General

I was looking for the official firmware and found an unofficial cm build. I don't know who the developer is, if it's working, something's broken, etc.
Just wanted to let everyone know. If the developer stumbles upon this and don't want it to be posted here, just let me know and I will remove it.
Download: check thread

This is a build from @vache . given the date, I'd assume this is a build that doesn't have nfc and the wonky display.

As I said I have no clue.

Probably best to remove the link as he is collaborating now with someone else and I think they would prefer peoples first experience with something they have built to be slightly more positive.

Yeah, that would be an unstable and broken early test build (not intended for public consumption). We'll have something more usable ready for you all to try soon.

Sneak Preview
For the impatient, here is a more usable preview build:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/hc19wc76a7y8374/cm-12.1-20150916-UNOFFICIAL-lux.zip
There's still a lot of work to be done, but at least the core functionality should work in this build (booting, WiFi, NFC, camera, GPS, audio, etc.). I'm not looking for bug reports at this point. Don't be surprised if you find something that doesn't work. One known issue is that AudioFX is broken right now.
But if you like living on the edge and want to try something new, you can flash it if you like. Use my TWRP build (originally mentioned in my kernel thread) to flash this ROM. The TWRP currently on vache's thread will have issues, so you must use mine.

It works well enough. Loving the LED settings. No it's not multicolored, before people ask, but you can set different lengths and durations. Battery didn't seem as good, and felt a little more choppy at times, but this is why I'm assuming they didn't release lol. Not complaining. Just super excited to see some development.

Thanks for your work @ squid2.
I know it's an earlier version, but I will spend a feedback, do not know if it's the same with you.
Tested the ROM on my device, everything seemed to work fine, except the SIM. He was not recognized, tried flashing another modem, but did not work well.
In today posted in another post version, the SIM worked, but not WIFI.

Hi guys,
I made a PAC build for lux available here : http://moto.shreps.fr/?dir=Moto X Play (lux)/rom/pac
Based on the latest work with @squid2 and @vache
If some of you want to try and report back, would be great !
I think I will open the dedicated thread tomorrow or this weekend

I'm in Canada, and my Sim works fine. It takes a very long time to pick it up though.
@squid2 @vache @Shreps
Is there any way you can enable dual sim in these ROMs straight out the gate? I don't have a second Sim to test at the moment, but that would be awesome.

Technically true. If you look inside the sim slot, you'll see the pins are there for dual sim. On the ejector tray, the second sim slot is covered by a dummy piece of plastic. There are also reports of people flashing a dual sim ROM and it working.

@vache I'm testing the SOKP right now WiFi works but camera and layers doesn't ,on RR WiFi doesn't
Edit:the device is flying zero lags overheating issues

What does layers mean? And the last line zero lags is good. But do you mean there are overheating issues? Or no overheating issues?

It's actually a stock Android theme engine. If I remember correctly, it was introduced by Sony into aosp, and it's baked into factory ROMs like on the n9. The layers app just makes things easier to manage it all, because the average Joe has no knowledge that it even exists.

Stock vs SourcE vs Maximus

Looking for a stable daily driver for my friend whom I am giving my phone to, now that I have a nexus 5 almost here.
She needs something stable. This phone has ran Cyanogen for a while and I just wouldnt feel comfortable giving it to her with the finicky data, odd call problems from time to time, etc.
So, in terms of stability over features, which would you recommend?
SourcE is maximus with some tweaks. Nothing very special, so the stability isn't really modified. But you have some interesting tweaks in SourcE: better quality pictures, better sound, gif recording, etc.
So I think you can give to your friend your One S with SourcE 2
Envoyé de mon HTC One S en utilisant Tapatalk
Maximus.
The "better picture quality" and "gif recording" can be flashed using pirlano and TheEndHK's camera mod. Better sound quality produced by V4A is also downloadable. The only thing i wanted more from maximus are tweaks, though we can use xposed framework and sense 5 toolbox module.
But you can never go wrong with both source and maximus since both of them uses the same updated firmware..

Being as I have never used Maximus or SourcE, how does it compare to stock? Same issues with screen on lag as other 3.4 roms? Signal stability compared to stock?

It is comparable to stock, not the 3.4 roms. Meaning, no lag and signal is good.
I do find it irritating that with the new firmware you need to use the modified twrp which will cannot mount usb storage. Also the backup feature can put your backups in the wrong directory. So you have to move them for them to show up.
So for me, it is just the recovery that I don't like.

If you like aosp, CM 10 is very stable, and particularly light ... which makes it quite responsive and quick. If she would prefer sense, then stock 4.1 will be absolutely trouble free. I use rom cleaner to strip out all the bloat, which makes the stock rom fly. In my experience, most women want stability over anything else ... they just want things to work.

Some have had pretty good success with Maximus, and for the most part stable. Others have had some glitches along the way, and they simply won't be as stable as the Stock RUU. My One S has been rooted and s-off since day one ... and I have tried all the major custom roms. It doesn't bother me when something goes wrong, because I know how to fix it. My wife, however, really gets upset when glitches occur on her phone, so we keep it simple, stable ... everything just works. I might add that the T-Mobile Stock RUU is no slouch ... it runs very well.

That would be wonderful if it were to happen, but unfortunately HTC has turned it's back on the One S. There will most likely be some custom 4.4 roms, but once again it will be difficult to make them completely stable. I am seriously thinking about moving on to the Moto X, and giving my One S a well deserved rest ... it's been a great phone!

Maximus is completely a stock HTC One S 4.2.2 RUU but just you've to install it via manual RUU installation method so it is a bit trouble. SourcE is based on Maximus with little necessary and very important tweaks, they are pretty much the same, I'll strongly prefer SourcE.
You have to install this "Maximus/SourcE RUU" via command prompt and there are just too many noobs around and some probably need to go for English lessons because they fail to read the procedure every time so they never flash it successfully. But remember your One S has to be a S-OFF device to do that.
To the stability problem, there are radio bugs in Maximus/SourcE but that is HTC fault, nothing wrong to the rom developers. This is a case to case by bias, personally I don't have any problem at all. You have to try it out because we don't know if the radio compatible to your carrier network or not.
1. Some got very poor in-call volume
2. Some got mobile data slow problem
3. Some got mobile signal weak problem
Basically, that's all the problem listed but I don't meet any single one. The radio 1.20 in Maximus/SourcE does working with my Hong Kong carrier network quite well. You can flash older radio like 1.1x to fix all above problem but it will create a random data disconnection bug.

Appreciate you going into all the detail, but these issues are exactly what many people are trying to avoid with their One S. That is why we were talking about what our better halves were not willing to tolerate.
Same as @TheEndHK, i don't have those issues as well, in fact the in call audio volume on mine is much louder than when i was on viper. The 1.20 radio brought me much stronger wifi signal and stability on mobile data, though some places i have full network coverage became weaker but not that much. Not all of us experienced those issues, and you won't know that if you will or will not experience it either if you haven't tried it yourself.

Lollipop?

In the past few days, I've seen that a lot of devices have started to get Lollipop ROMs, such as the 1+1, Xperia Z3, Galaxy SIII Mini, and even the SII. I am wondering, is there any developer currently working on Lollipop for the d2vzw/d2lte? If not, does anybody have any idea how to compile Lollipop for the SIII?
Been lurking around as well. Noticed that the i9300 and the i747 models (no longer unified) both have Alpha Lollipop roms in production. Currently on Moto X (First Gen) but would love to dust off the old GS3 to get an early taste of 5.0. Been looking into porting but it's well over my head, plus I don't want to be the guy who bricks his backup by trying to port an early rom build. Would love to see a thread pop up tho about a release

Carbon Rom is moving in that direction, but it will take some time to see a build I'm sure. They don't tend to release unpolished roms.. Especially on a new version of Android

Welp, did a bit of digging and got the rom working on my GS3 but unfortunately I have no signal (voice) but LTE is working. At this point I imagine it's a kernel issue unless someone knows otherwise. gonna do a bit more digging tonight to see if I can't fix the problem.

One of them may be updated, I'm not aware of any but I'm not always in the development forums anymore
From my CM11 S3
As the others have stated, I wouldn't recommend flashing the At&t variant even though we share similar hardware (basically the same). Since the GS3 is my backup, I tweaked their rom and it booted for me, but like I said, there is no voice/sms working even tho LTE does activate oddly. I went to the IRC to see what I needed to look into but the devs there confirmed that they are indeed working on a rom for you guys already and I know they have made better progress than me. Wasn't looking to duplicate efforts, so I said I'd just stop and wait like everyone else cuz it'll be so much safer in the end. Sorry if I got anyone hyped but legit builds are in the works by expert devs, so no worries!

The build, at least for me, has been pretty great so far. The home button does in fact work, you just can't wake the phone with the home button. But I understand that people need something very stable to use, but I'm OK with a few bugs.

It's broke on my end. It can get a position lock but does not seem to track for driving directions. Another bug I discovered was trying to take a picture in a text message and the camera only showing 1 to 2 frames per second, but the regular camera works fine so I assume it has something to do with the text message app. I still use it as a daily driver don't use the driving directions often. I will keep posting the builds as I make them and let you know when that bug is fixed.
[Thanks! Will definitely follow this until CM puts out an official build. Couple other guys that were building unofficial seem to have stopped for the time.

Ah, yes it appears to get a lock for me as well, but then won't navigate. I've tried messing with gps.conf in several different manners but no luck.
I'm about to abandon the G3 because there is no official CM support. This is where Cyanogenmod is getting bad press - they claim to offer an alternative OS with the latest updates, but some phones are just left in the dust because no one wants to be the maintainer. Best Buy has started selling the 6P - may head over and pick this up!
Please post a link to the kernel source of the kernel included in your build as per GPLv2 and XDA requirements.
Thanks! And thanks for your contributions.

Still using this everyday but, as I'm sure you noticed, charging has been majorly borked since 12/23. Hope you keep this up and I'll be watching CM changelogs for a fix. GPS would be nice too!

Yeah I am hoping the problems are not D850 specific or we will never see a fix. I will keep posting builds semi nightly until CyanogenMod starts posting an official build or until I get a new phone in August. I really think this is still a good phone and wonder why the community went to hell on this one.
Have a Happy New Year everyone.
I've been using CM13 for almost a month and its been great. However I only just got an SD card for Christmas. Now, I'm assuming moving apps to the SD card has changed since it let's you format as internal storage now. However that doesn't work for me. Does anyone know how to move apps to the SD card without formatting it as internal storage?
How did you build this? I've managed to build CM13 for the D850 too, but the result was the phone freezing at the LG bootup logo. Your build seems to work perfectly fine.

Ummm well I don't know what you did wrong, but here are the resources I used...
Dependencies for the build were grabbed from this site
https://source.android.com/source/initializing.html
Then I made a local manifest to include proprietary drivers from https://github.com/TheMuppets along with the branch for the D850 out of cyanogenmod github. Hope that gives you some clues on what went wrong.

Strange. That's exactly what I did too.
I'll give it another shot and see what's going on. I'd like to take a crack at fixing some of the bugs.
Looks like tonight's build will fix the power charging issues. Yay!
Just posted the the 12/29 build and GPS is fixed we can now find our nearest Hardee's with ease. Thanks @invisiblek
is anyone else experiencing data loss constantly? I have to disable/re-enable data to get it to connect, otherwise I get (!) instead of (LTE). I haven't seen anyone else complain about this and yet it still hasn't been fixed on the 12/31/15 build. D850 stock CM kernel on T-Mobile, only one APN on my list. it happens on any CM13-based ROM.
also this new kernel makes my phone near flawless. it feels much more like a nexus. however it is still shutting down the phone when it overheats, hence when you first install the rom and it creates the cache, it will power off once the setup starts.

I had data problems too on Tmo, a quick APN adjustment fixed it:

Team superluminal's CM12.1

Have anyone tried their rom?

How does it compare to cm12.1 from xda thread?
Is cm12.1 from xda thread stable for daily driver?

Haven't tried SuperLuminal's version yet, but the CM12.1 version you find here on XDA is working fine. There are a few bugs, but nothing a reboot can't handle...
Just keep in mind, that both are unofficial builds of CM12.1, as the CM Team haven't made an official version (yet - or perhaps it might never happend)
But give the SuperLuminal's version a shot - and tell us about your experience.

Thanks for response. Is cm12.1 smoother than miui? I find mi4c with miui less responsive than my old oneplus one with cm13. It's quite disappointing that my new mi4c is more laggy than 2years old OPO. Will that unofficial cm12.1 fix it a little? Or just snapdragon 808 is way slower than old 801?

Coming from OnePlus One as well, but with CM 12s, for that little time I spend using stock MIUI, I did not notice any lack or the phone being slower than the OPO. Actually MIUI ran pretty damn fast on the MI 4c - but the reason I moved away from the official, was because Kaspersky found malware on the ****ing phone. So maybe you should check you phone for malware or any unwanted apps. Depending on where you got the phone, it might have been tampered with.
Maybe, you should try to disable/freeze any apps you do not like first and see if that helps.
Anyway, if it's a faulty model you've received, you might want to return it...
Well this cm 12.1 has the nav bar working with capacitive keys disabled while the other one has it still enabled. I'm sure it will be fixed.
Jonas you probably had a reseller modified rom flashed. The EU rom doesn't have any malware.
Hi guys. I use TS rom for a few days. It is very smooth, likewise the Xiobai rom. Everything is working, except...edge double tap. Of course, you can enable it, but then ehile typing on any keyboard (aosp, google), it causes random backs. This feature is super while surfing on internet, but in real life it is too hmm anoying. I don't even touch edges and keyboard hides. When disable- not. It is my only complain. Battery and smoothness are very good. At night with lte enabled takes 1-2%. Best regards from Poland.

Xiaomi Service Framework Mod not work for me
I'm testing SuperLuminal CM 12.1 port from yesterday. It works pretty well so far; edge double tap is OK and didn't cause any unexpected behaviour in my usage.
There is no issue of DT2W not working after booting from recovery (that issue is present on Xiaobai's port, you have to reboot once from the ROM to have DT2W back).
Other than that the two ROMs are pretty much the same to me; Xiaobai's one might feel a little bit smoother in my opinion, but really a tiny bit.
I'm trying to get rid of any stuttering playing with entropy settings in Kernel Adiutor, will report back if I'll find anything useful.

Just wanted to say that I experienced the same thing. I had a Nexus 4 with Minimal OS (Android 6.0) and it was sadly faster than the Mi4C.
I'm not saying that the Mi4C is slow. It is fast. But i was expecting something more. Expecially while typing (as write here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/help/expected-t3274918) i can feel the difference.
The Mi4C also have some micro-lag during transition that take away some joy on the daily use..
I'm probably going to try one of theese CM12.1 and see if i can get the same responsiveness i had with the N4
New rom is out now in Team Superluminal site.

Yes, I know - I tried contacting Coolicool whom I bought it from - but they are just being like what these type of Chinese stores usually are - ignorant towards complains.
I am considering making the switch back to MIUI7 - but I'm not too keen on going back to a KK rom..

It is pretty stable. I'll been using TS PAC-rom 5.1.1 now for few days and I haven't noticed anything. But like our news says, IT IS UNDER TESTING for now. So if you like to try, take a backup of your current rom. And if you don't like it, you can revert back where you was.
There is lots of options/features from great roms. Like the PACman roms slogan goes "ALL IN ONE"
Does it have nav bar option?
Piston Headset problem under CM
I1m using the Mokee 5.1.1 Rom and its really great, I only have one big problem with it: My 3-button Piston2 headset doesn't work properly, only the play/pause button responds as it should, the volume rockers only open the dialer. It worked perfectly under Miui, but I love these custom roms much more!
Is it possible, to find a solution for this problem?! I'd love to try your rom, especially if there's any chance it will work!

Need camera app/blob help. LineageOS 14.1

LineageOS 14.1 Official
Franco Kernel
Open Camera
So I have been using lineage for the last three weeks, and am seriously disappointed in the camera. Before flashing I was stock CyanogenOS.
I have yet to take a decent photo since upgrading to nougat. And once those shots hit Google photos, they look even worse.
I do know that you need the blobs for the camera to work well, and I see a couple of threads talking about the different blobs for the various roms. What I don't know is if I can get the blobs through a kernel or maybe another nougat rom. I get the feeling that I am SOL. If I can't... This guy is going back to sock.
I don't care about slomo. HDR. 60fps video etc. I just want to be able to take good shots, and decent vids.
If there are any tricks, or something that I need to flash, please feel free to elaborate in the comments below.
Thanks.
PS. I have also seen comparisons with Oxygen, Color, Cyanogen, etc. A pros and cons list per se. If I am going to have to roll back and put on something that is considered 'stock' on the OPO... Should I be going to Oxygen or Color? Cyanogen is pretty fluid, with little lag. I would want OOS or COS to be the same. Only thing worse than a crappy camera is a lag fest.

I've actually been looking for the exact same thing. I'm on stock COS but it's been random rebooting on me for a while now (must be getting old) and I've heard good things about the oos port for the One. Along with these kernel/blob suggestions, I think this is exactly what I need to give a fresh start to my tired old OPO. Thanks again!
Edit: how about bacon camera instead of cameranext? It's being updated still (using it even now on cos for things where I need manual focus).

I'm running LOS 14.1 and over on the thread for the Lightening Kernan they all said for LOS Rome we need to use Version V38... will using V56 have any adverse effects on the ROM at all? I appreciate any info you all have.. I used to be a flashaholic back in the day with my late great HTC HD2, but have been out of the customization game for a few years.

Hello, I tried to flash v56 on LOS 14.1 and all I got as a result was a non-booting phone. So I guess there's some incompatibility issue. Keep in mind that I'm a new bacon user so I'm not that experienced with the world of its mods etc, so I might as well have done something wrong. Anyway it's better to talk about this in that kernel's thread.
Using the lightening 54 or 56 whatever it was, had to install the kernel a second time before phone would boot. But have had some major annoyances. It reboots a couple times a day, it takes upwards of three or four secs from the time I hit the button for the screen to come on etc. Pics are pretty good though. Going to update to new 14.1 nightly and try things for another few days before I give up on it. Will probably move over to omni if things continue.

You know if I am being honest... the experience on stock CyanogenOS is the best. I guess COS is ColorOS so I should just shut up. But at the end of the day I ultimately feel like I am going to end up going back and fastboot flashing the original Cyanogen files and going back to stock. When it installs right, with no ones and zeros crossed, there is no better experience on the OPO. Not giving up yet, but the writing is for sure on the wall.

They said V38 if you are using cm camera. So I would guess if using OOS blobs, you need to use the other. I am going o post about my lag issues over there and see what is said, so maybe keep an eye on that thread for more info.
Edit: Nevermind. I thought about turning off 'prevent accidental wakeup' and things are working great so far. Now to figure out the rebooting issues. Hopefully today's LOS update will fix.
I've been keeping my eye on that thread. Only reason I posted in here asking is because of the post suggesting to flash Lightening v56, OOS Blobs, and CameraNext. I thought someone running LOS had to have done this and had some feedback. I followed the steps last night and the camera is looking much better but the phone seems to be running warmer. I'm gonna give it a few days and see how it settles.

Not having warmer issues at all on this end. I will say this though... keep an eye on your battery drainage when phone is not in use. ie. in doze mode. You might need to flash a different modem. One thing I have also noticed on 14.1 is I rarely have signal, on any modem, until I turn wifi off. Probably a battery saving/nougat thing, but still kinda weird. The 01/25/2016 c7 modem works best for me as far as drainage is concerned. I wouldn't flash new modem firmware unless standby drainage is an issue. I originally did it because I had no data at all, and new modem didn't fix it anyways.
