Hi as above,
I haven't been on lately but i have noticed the ping pong root method isn't available as i have updated to 5.1.1 on Vodafone UK
What are the other methods left and i take it they will trip Knox?:good:
Flash uni kernel onto your phone. It will automatically root your phone.
Thanks, i will try this later today
Yes uni kernel will give you root and various performance / battery / stock options.
Will trip knox but meh... Go for it

hy people.
its my first time on galaxy s6 here. for months i had the 5.0.2 firmware original, nothing changed, perfect. it was really fastest.
but when it comes out the 5.1.1 update, problems started. really bad battery life (i never had this problem), more lags un the transition animations, i can confirm this because for four moths i never had lag where now there are prominently.
so now i decide to come back to a rom/firmware with the 5.0.2 (0 problems in that firmware).
is there a possibility now?.
let me know, thanks. I'm on "G920FXXU2POFJ" (vodafone italy).
It's not possible to downgrade from 5.1.1
Nope. Not possible. Im getting a worse battery life than i had in 5.0.2 since now i don't root to greenefy a lot of apps. Still it is usable. When a root without tripping knox is available everything will be fine again.

There is a good chance that root without tripping KNOX may not ever happen again. Then people will have to choose if they still want root or not tripping KNOX.

I thought about that. In that case i would choose root. I giving some time to see if anyone can do it first. If not i will root it anyway
guys. I'm thinking. since there is on way to downgrade now, I'm on the 5.1.1 vodafone brand, can i install a ITV 5.1.1 NO-BRAND?
Anyone knows which post should I follow in order to get updates about 5.1.1 rooting? I've flashed manually (stock 5.1.1 on G920I) and I really regret that I can't root and install Xtrestolite right now.
Hello all,
I just got 2 new S6 Edges on contract with VZN through BB. Before doing anything, I removed the SIM and fired them up to check the OS version. It shows 5.0.2 (AOE2). I see there is a VERY easy root for it (Ping Pong). They are now sitting in the box, ready for activation.
But I have some questions:
1) I read in a few places that the OTAs that replace 5.0.2 fixed some sort of bad bug / security issue, but it also prevents you from rooting it as well. Is that true?
2) What exactly was (were) the issue(s) and can I still root 5.0.2 AND then fix them outside of VZN OT (e.g., other downloads from Samsung directly)?
3) If I root at 5.0.2, is there a way to preserve it, then OTA up to a newer OS (did this on my S5)? Or am I stuck with 5.0.2 forever if I want to keep root?
4) If I root, can I still get Samsung Pay to work, or will that now fail?
5) I read Ping Pong does not trip Knox. Is that really true?
6) Lastly, if I root, is it still easy to unroot the S6 (remove a few files and reboot)?
Thanks for any help and suggestions. Just a FYI, I root to make minor tweaks, not to load custom ROMs.

Hi together,
i'm really a bit confused, about rooting the S6 G920FXXXU3COI9,
With in am example CF Autoroot.
I have debranded successfully my Phone from XEF to DBT Firmware.
I would like, to root my Device to debloat it, because of unnecessary Battery Drain
From unwanted and unused Software.
Maybe any chance, for not triggering Knox?
Is this possible to root G920FXXXU3COI9 ?
Or should I wait, for 6.0 Marshmallow?
Thanks in regards, for tipps and tricks
I guess not. No PingPongRoot on 5.1.1

You obliviously can root COI9, but you can't keep Knox warranty in any way in 5.1.1.
For rooting you can use CF autoroot or flash TWRP via Odin and once in recovery flash Unikernel, which has a inbuilt root. The kernel is also made with better features than stock one.
Your choice.
There was an update of autoroot from chainfire without you need special rooted kernel.
Maybe I get this wrong

I have 2 major questions the first is that i am trying to downgrade to 5.0.2 and use ping pong root, Is this possible? I have a ATT 5.1.1 with a baseband version of G920AUCU3BOJ7. If I do this then how should I go about it?
My second questions is if I do this and it trips knox, will I get any penalties other then having no warranty. For example would I have a quicker battery drain even if i froze the SecurityLogAgent too prevent the security popups?

Hello
You cannot downgrade to 5.0.2 your firmware is too recent.
The only disadvantage of tripping knox is warranty and Samsung PAY.

Thanks, I saw something that said they switched a file out or something and it worked but I can't find the page right now. There 2 people working on it started with W and D but don't remember their full names. It was on XDA
Hi Guys,
i have some questions concerning rooting. I have a stock Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) with T-Mobile branding. I would like to install a Custom ROM because my battery life is so bad but i love this phone (for example because of its water resistance and the fact that my hobby is diving ).
So my plan is:
1. root my device and install a custom Nougat ROM (to change the screen resolution)
2. when the official update is out i want to go back to stock Firmware
3. now my question: Is it possible to receive OTA Updates after getting back to stock firmware?
I know know is set to 0x1 after a root and im going to lose my varranty but thats no problem, i would only like to receive OTA Updates after going back to stock firmware.
Thank you for your help!
Greetings from Munich and have a great new Year 2017
Hi!
As long as your device is stock, recovery included, you should receive the ota no problem. So flashing stock firmware and recovery should do the trick. :good:
Don't accept an ota if you do happen to get an update notification, if you are not completely stock. It will fail.
Last resort too, is flashing an updated version manually. If that's possible for your device.
Good luck!
I posted i thought but don't see it i rooted an LG ls675 with king root removed a couple preinstalled apps sprint zone and 2 amazon apps I mistakenly tried ota failed found out this unrooted my phone and tried another ota that failed also running stock installed a root browser titanium bu busy box ect do i need to remove these apps or will i have to do factory reset to get this update running 5.1.1
