Battery drain on M2. - Sony Xperia M2

Been having battery drain on my m2 (.17) build and frankly stamina isn't working that much since the first month. Last night I left it at 100% and when I woke up in the morning it had 92%. Probably the battery naturally wears out over time but bootloader is unlocked and I think the loss of DRM keys may have affect on stamina working properly. Any thoughts?

8% idle drain over night on a stock rom(if it is stock) doesn't seem bad if you ask me. Have you tried the vol up n power button at the same time till it vibrates to reset the phone(same effect as removing the battery) I haven't updated as with all my tweaks for a 28.2mb update it ain't worth it.
Try re-flashing the ftf with flashtool and wipe clean the phone n start fresh it may help

I'm using stock. I'll try the power+vol button, and one more question is there any way to get my DRM keys back maybe that's the problem.

No if you didn't make a ta back up once rooted before unlocking bootloader there gone forever unfortunately. Do not try flashing ta keys from a other m2 either you'll end up with a paperweight.

Backup of DRM keys
Xperia M2 D2303 on K.K. 4.4.4

Do not flash ta/drm keys from another device it'll permanently brick it I.e. It'll be a paperweight. I think the worst that'll happen with wrong model ftf is bootloop or a soft brick which are recoverable from.

Disable My Xperia (if you have it enabled) if you messing with drm, it may hard brick your device.

It does look impressive, thanks. But unfortunately I'm not a fan of Xposed. I tried it once and I immediately had issues of all kind. I'll see if Lollipop will change things. Apart that my 4G network must be a mess. Taking the phone out of the wifi the Fast Dormancy goes in high wakelocks as well.

I've been running xposed most of the year now not had any problems what so ever wouldn't be without it now.

No Settings. Just change from the default Equalizer.
+1 use players default equilizer or u can use Equlizer app from play store for changing universal audio it works just fine and nice too
You flashed which one? The BeatsAudio6.27 or BeatsAudio5.1(SGS2)? I confused which one to be used.
Latest one 6.27 just try you wont be dissappointed awesome. I have tried many Beat mods but not felt that much difference, but this mod surely makes the music rich you will immediately find the difference.
clear cache and dalvik cache only before flashing and flash it and reboot will take some time may be around 4-5 minutes just wait dont think the phone is bootloopin as i have tried this mod on my Blue Note and my friends White Note.

[Q] Xperia Miro smoother than my Xperia Tipo???

Hey,
One of my friends owns a Sony Xperia Miro, while I own a Sony Xperia Tipo. If you swipe slowly in the app drawer, you can see that his Miro has much smoother scrolling, than my Tipo's "spiky" scroll. However if you swipe faster, they both look the same. Mine doesn't lag at all cause of the modifications I did. While he doesn't know as much about android devices as I do, I have done everything to make my Tipo faster. I've tried all the available ROMS and noticed that the stock firmware (ftf file) 11.0.a.4.27 was faster, smoother and more stable than them.
I am rooted and I have been using Greenify to kill background processes. At start I have been using Vengeance 1.46 kernel @ 800mhz (set both min and max with SetCPU), but then I overclocked the device using Vengeance Reloaded kernel @ 1305mhz, and it was stable. I tried many other stuff to increase smoothnes and performance aswell, but I won't start mentioning them... The amount of free available ram is averagely 200-230mb, while my friend's Miro only has 150-200mb average, often under 100 aswell, due to the many apps running in the background. I also factory reseted about 10 times too, and tried other performance combinations, including using a task killer, like my friend does, instead of Greenify. I even considered using nothing, kept the phone as stock, with no apps installed. Still, not as smooth as the Miro.
Please help, what am I missing?
Thanks in advance

Yeah installing stock ics ftf firmware might be the soloution. I personally don't have lag issues anymore since I tried all these mods. What I meant though, was why is the Tipo not as smooth as the Miro when scrolling, not which is faster

MOTO G, custom ROM = Yes or No?

I have been using Custom Rom's for a while. But this is usually to bring a phone up to the latest possible Android version well after the manufacturer has stopped updating a device . I have been using Nexus devices so typically this is 18 months after a model is first introduced. Bit of a sore point with me coming from iPhones which get supported for much longer period. but I digress.
In the case of the Moto G. I question whether it is beneficial ATM to install a custom ROM? I have tried a couple, but have been quite disappointed up till now with reliability and performance.
So for now I have stayed with the standard Moto G Rom. Then tweaked it a little by doing the following.
1. Unlocked the phone
2. Rooted using TWRP (couldn't get CWM to work right)
3. Eliminated the Unlocked warning screen at start up :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548530
4. Changed the 3G data to H, H+ format :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600654
5. Installed Qualcomm-optimized bionic and dalvic from here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/4-4-4-4-x-qualcomm-optimized-dalvik-t2546120 (thanks @drfr )
6. Installed a new Faux123 Kernel, flcon_umts-faux123-kk-005u-signed.zip from here :- http://faux.romhost.me/falcon_umts/kk44/
7. From Play store installed the xposed installer
8. From Play Store added module Gravity box (KK)
9. From Play Store added module Ringer & Notification Volume
10. Installed the Apex launcher
11. From Play Store purchased Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro (couldn't find a free tool that worked!)
Result is a very stable ROM together with most of the little tweaks that I like to get from a Custom ROM. Plus everything works great. The current Antutu result is 19860.
So my general question, what is the advantage of using a Custom Rom, when for at the moment at least, the manufacturers ROM is fully up to date and with a few simple tweaks provides Custom Rom like appearance, together with great stability and performance?
As far as I know, the stock rom has a lot of optimizations for the Moto G hardware. For instance, its based on F2FS which is something the GPE Moto G does not have going for it.

That´s exactly the way I see things too. Played around with custom ROMs for a while and then came back to stock + all the enhancements you mentioned. Just a note to the point 5 of your list. Optimized dalvik and bionic are already included in stock ROMs.
I have this way of thinking too. So just going through the steps 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 10. My phone is excellent.

Thank you, I didn't know that, funny but I could swear that Antutu improved! I am still trying to decide if Point 6. Faux123 is really worth it. The 1.6gh/z over clocking is working and I am still getting two days of average use per charge. Can't decide either way really......
Same here, at this point, custom roms (non stock based) are non sense, since the stock is almost Aosp and updated as hell. Xposed is all you need.

True. But its for now and that is because this is a brand new phone also with multiple variants like 1031/2/3
Hence creating a kind of obstruction for a successful ROM dev
Furthermore you don't just dev a ROM to get an Android update.
Its for the different features that people are looking for.
You might wanna try xposed modules.
Hell l0tta options there. Not for now but then for future.
Also then small little tweaks from other phones can be ported to this one.
There are just countless things that you can customize once you are rooted.
I had a Galaxy Ace duos CDMA which had no custom ROM.
But once I got it rooted my phone was so much better.
I had an extended internal memory with my SD card.
The bloatware that covered the small little internal memory was completely removed.
And it was so much faster and Functional with those rooted apps.
If that small little phone could do some magic with rooting.
Then this is a beast.
Half the new functionality that we get on the updates are actually the features of apps that work on rooted phones.
Wifi hotspot for an instance.
Agreed that in the current scenario its really not so useful but rooting your phone is a gift to yourself

No need to flash stock!
I had that issue too (on many roms). Turn your wifi off, go to /data/misc/dhcp and delete the following two files:
dhcpcd-wlan0.lease
dhcpcd-wlan0.pid
After this, WiFi should work again.
If this doesn't work, try the following:
Go to /data/misc/wifi and delete wpa_supplicant.conf (WARNING: All WiFi passwords will be deleted but at least your WiFi will be working again)

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the CM code base has some dependency regarding the low level hardware code that is in some specific partitions which will not be modofied / touched when installing CM, which are for device specific stuff regarding RF, wifi etc. Apparently CM is developed for the latest version of these.
