mi 4i soft bricked ?! strange behaviour after rom flash - Xiaomi Mi 4i

Hello,
i hope you guys can help me.
What i did
Stock rom was rooted and i forgot to unroot and did an update
so the phone got stuck on boot.
I used this as reason to try out a custom rom.
I flashed twrp, flashed InfinitiveOS-v1.2-ferrari-5.1.1--20150905-OFFICIAL but was very unhappy with the Camera bug.
After one day I decided to flashed Euphoria-OS 1.1 [August 17] [Ferrari] + RazorReborn v1.0 [SABER][KCAL][-o2] + gapps-5.1-arm64-2015-07-17-15-08 after reboot it looked fine for the moment.
it showed the "installing app x from xx" dialog and then a "finishing boot" dialog after that the display went black.
The Problem
Now when i restart the phone it shows the Mi logo then the display turns black and stays black. If connected to the pc windows detects six new unformated drives all about 1 - 4 mb big.
I can access fastboot and recovery.
Any advices ?!
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

fastboot flash miui6 and if want reflash twrp and install custom rom or root. Or reflash Euphoria OS as it has a few problems with custom kernels...

Battery stat's?!

Thanks for your reply.
After i wrote the thread i flashed miui_MI4iGlobal_5.8.28_MIUI7_5.0 via sideload. the phone seemed to be in boot loop and i forgot about it for 2 h. It booted to miui but if i go through the setup every few seconds a system apps crashes also the launcher and so on...
at least it seem to work again.
Where do i get miui as img to flash it with fastboot ? on the miui sites there seem to be only .zip files ?
@reflavius01 i dont get what you mean.

@stafan did you wipe system, data and cache/dakvik before flashing?

thank you. since the server seems to be connected with a 54k modem to the internet i managed to download the file within only about 3 h ^^
but now the miui setup starts and then again: one after another system app crashes. i guess it is because there is no space left on the phone.
I'll try the miui v6 stable version now.
Hopefully this will work.
thank you so far.
If anybody knows why there is no space left after miui (ferrari_global_images_5.8.22_20150723.0000.6_5.0_global_cf99c4a02f) is flashed i would appreciate any help.

thank you @reflavius01 i'll try that image too
After a long night its still not working well.
Maybe I do something wrong?!
When flashing Miui fastboot image:
i extract the tgz & tar file copy fastboot( and adbwinapi.dll,AdbWinUsbApi.dll and adb.exe - just to be sure) into the folder an run flash_all.bat while the phone is connected and in fastboot mode.
phone needs about 10 minutes to boot sometimes more. The miui setup starts and crashes. It doesnt crash if i'm fast enough and delete the ramdump folder. wich will ingrease very fast again and again. also the phone dosn't regonice the two sim cards. i tried taking them out and putting in again. the image reflavius01 posted shows that there is no imei and wifi mac address ?!
When flashing custom rom
flash twrp, boot into twrp, go to wipe do a factory reset.
go to advanced -> sideload, check the two boxes for dalvik and cache and start sideload. on the pc i do adb sideload path/to/rom.zip
after finish it says reboot if click the button it shows me a message something like "there is no system installed, are you sure you want to reboot?" -> then: see problem of opening thread :/

Does anybody know how to recover the lost imei and mac
and how to deactivate the ram dump mode?

If you have a previous backup... Please check this tool:

Unfortunately i dont have one

So i have found a solution and let it here for anyone who might run into the same problem:
adb shell "su -c 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20;dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21;reboot'"
that "deleted" the efs parttition.
after the reboot the imei is back and the also the wifi mac. also the ramdump mode is "disabled"

Try flash miui 6.6. through twrp. Then install custom Roms.as most of custom roms are build on miui6.not miui7.

Always remember, flash the TWRP recovery also for the Mi4i. Just in case something goes wrong like this. Whenever you root your MIUI phone, NEVER update using the OTA. Download the update package from the site and flash manually.

If i understand well, if you can get to twrp there is no reason to worry...
You just download an official / developer rom or any custom rom, reflash and you are done.
Yeah I know, thing is, mi4i doesn't have an external memory slot..

go to recovery and connect your phone in mtp mode from recovery , take backup from internal memory and flash official stable rom
You may flash the device recovery/kernel/firmware via FastBoot
Flash TWRP Recovery via Fastboot, then adb sideload a ROM on the Device. Or Download Official Fastboot firmware for the device and flash it.
Don't forget to say thanks
flash the device with fastboot rom via FastBoot using mi flash
I have the same problem. Just Go into TWRP and wipe Dalvik/Cache/Data/System, after that just flash ROM again and everything works fine
The problem is with firmware and kernel. The firmware isn't compatible with kernel. If u flash the whole rom with firmware it will be fine, if U know witch FW have u used flash it flash it back or flash back original kernel.
check http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/development/miui-firmware-flash-t3367968

Whatever You Do, first take a backup of your EFS Partition with TWRP or MI Toolkit. My device crashed and corrupted all partitions suddenly and my IMEI is lost now and I didn't have any backup of EFS to restore my IMEI.
And for restoring your device back to normal you will have to follow this..
1. Take backup of EFS and store it somewhere safe in you pc.
2. Download and extract the Fastboot ROM for Mi4i from here : http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=ferrari_global&b=X&r=global&n=
3. As you have already rooted, I suppose that you already have adb drivers installed. If not then install
4. Open Recovery and press and hole POWER and VOLUME DOWN button after recovery boots up completely and do not release the keys until fastboot opens.
5. open Terminal(Linux)/CMD(Windows) and navigate into the directory you just downloaded and extracted.
5. Run "flash_all.bat"(Windows)/"flash_all.sh"(Linux).
6. Give it some time and you will get a brand new MIUI 7. After flashing miui 7 you can install any rom you wish.
Let me know if your device gets fixed or if you need any help..
Thanks.

[Solved] Soft Bricked after flashing stock recovery using Rashr

My Mi 4i got soft bricked
Lemme explain what happened...
I had the Mokee 5.1.1 installed on my phone with latest TWRP recovery and SuperSu.. I thought to revert back to Stable Miui Rom which had great battery backup so I downloaded the Miui 7.5.2.0 global stable rom.. And I searched that if miui rom can be flashed through twrp.. And I saw many said its possible.. So I did it.. And wiped data cache dalvic etc from twrp like we do before flashing every rom.. Then I flashed the miui rom and damn when it crossed about 2-3hrs and the progress bar was still moving and it showed above that " failed to.... Somewhat system to system" like this and progress bar was continously moving.. And I kept it like that and in the morning when I woke up saw that it switched off automatically and when I tried to switch it on.. I saw it was stuck in bootloop but I had the twrp recovery so I reinstalled the mokee rom again to come out of that bootloop and I searched again about how to revert back to miui rom from custom rom in mi 4i then I found a post in miui forum where a guy said he was also using mokee and thought to revert to miui and he said the process too which stated that we need to place the rom in the root of internal storage and rename it to update.zip and install rashr and select flash stock recovery.img and flash that update.zip from stock recovery and I did the same just the update.zip was in a folder named download... Then I successfully booted into stock recovery but when trying to install the zip its showing that the zip is corrupted.. And when I restart the device it goes in bootloop :'( with the mokee logo on screen.. I don't have a pc of my own.. I need to go to a cafe for doing anything relating to flashing rom through fastbootm. So I tried it today but in mi flash tool it was showing error.. Please help me to flash the rom from stock recovery and where should I put the zip exactly and how can I access the internal storage from pc to put it as I don't have twrp I am unable to access the internal storage from pc too.. Required pic is attached

If Your PC Can Detect Your Device Internal Storage In Fastboot Then Copy All Of Your Internal data Like Your Personal Documents videos Etc.
Enable MTP in Mount Option.
DOWNLOAD TWRP 2.8.6. 0 Version
And Rom Miui 8 V8.1.7 And Copy It into Your OTG Pendrive If U Have
Then Connect OTG In Your Phone. Make Sure Your Mi4i Battery Is on 90% Charge.
Then Flash TWRP 2.8.6.0.
Restart Into TWRP Recovery Then Wipe Dalvic, Catch Data System.
Flash Miui ROM( You Can Find it In OTG Storage SoChoose OTG Option).
If It Shows Failed Then Try Again Wipe Dalvik ,Cache , data system.
FLASH MIUI 8 .
EVERY time When I Come Out From a Cutsom ROM
I flashed Miui ROM By Using TWRP.
What are u trying to say? Your process isn't clear to me.. Anyways thanks for your suggestion and I have recovered my Mi4i using Mi flash tool..

2 things to try. Format data requiring you to type yes to confirm. This wipes internal storage so you will need to connect to lc or external storage and copy files to flash. Using external storage is best because storage structure isn't setup properly until rom boots.
Use miflash and flash oem rom but make sure you dont use lock option.

Ultimate guide to install stable or Dev rom from Xiaomi.eu

Hello everyone,
First of all, rom and recovery are not from me... I just want to make a full guide to help you
So let's go !!!!!
1 step: unlock bootloader
https://en.miui.com/unlock/
BE CAREFUL unlocking your bootloader will erase all your data (internal storage) so don't forget to make a backup
2 step: flash twrp recovery
Download the recovery image from here
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-1CSfT4lQwFZngu6RI9eowLA9CmEMEPw/view?usp=drivesdk
Be sure to have adb and fastboot tools on your computer ... If not take a look at here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Past TWRP_umi.img on minimal adb and fastboot directory.
Open a cmd here.
Enable usb debugging on your device
Reboot your phone on bootloader (hold volume down + power), connect it to PC and tape:
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_umi.img
Then tape fastboot reboot while holding volume up button on your devices to reboot in recovery
3 step:
At the first launch of Twrp You have to choose SWIPE TO ALLOW MODIFICATION
4 step:
THIS ONE OF THE MUST IMPORTANT STEP
In twrp menu you have to go in Wipe data on choose format data
Otherwise the ROM will not boot.
5 step:
Reboot into recovery from twrp.
6 step:
Connect your phone to your PC and paste the xiaomi.eu ROM of your choice (stable or Dev)
7 step:
Flash ROM from recovery
8 step:
REBOOT AND ENJOY :good::good::good:
Does Xiaomi EU Rom run either on encrypted and unencrypted storage?
I cant get this to work, ive been trying everything for hours. I am sure i am missing something stupid but if anyone has any new ideas please let me know. I unlocked my device today, flashed twrp via fastboot, rebooted to recovery, formatted data then went on to install xiaomi eu rom. Ever since trying this, i am constantly booting into recovery or hitting a boot loop. i have formatted data more times than i care to think of ha ha. ive tried flashing the latest fastboot rom via mi unlock tool to do a fresh start but keep getting ''flash crclist error". Ive also tried flashing miui stock via twrp and it also, doesn't boot. ive tried many combinations in between. My next option is to try the fastboot global rom (though i believe i have a chinese device), i am waiting for it to download. If anyone knows what i am doing wrong i will be eternally grateful if you can tell me what it is. I'm so frustrated, been flashing roms for years, never had anything take as long as this :crying:

Bootloop (stuck on 5G logo) after flashing Xiaomi.eu ROM
Dear fellow XDA-dev community members,
Xiaomi Mi 10 (umi), coming from original stock ROM, MIUI 11 GLOBAL version V11.0.2.0.QJBMIXM.
Bootloader unlocked official way via MiFlash Unlock 4.5.514.47.
Custom recovery TWRP 3.4.1b-0313 installed via XiaoMiTool V2.
Tested root by installing Magisk 20.3 via TWRP, no problem, then updating to Magisk 20.4 with the Magisk Manager 7.5.1.
The problems started when I tried to install Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM : xiaomi.eu_multi_MI10_V11.0.25.0.QJBCNXM_v11-10
Downloaded the Xiaomi.eu ROM to PC, then copied to the Download folder of the Phone.
Started phone in upload mode or TWRP. > Wipe > Swipe to Factory Reset + Format Data.
When formatting data I erase all folders in the phone, including the Xiaomi.eu ROM copied in the Download folder.
Some tutorials suggest to copy the Xiaomi.eu ROM from PC to phone after formatting the data, just by connecting the phone in TWRP to the PC, by going to > Mount and enabling MTP.
Tried this method but when I send the Xiaomi.eu ROM file to the phone the progress bas doesn’t move.
So I restarted the phone, without installing the Custom ROM, went through all the screens of initial phone configuration. Lost Magisk and root (but I supposed that it’s not mandatory to install Custom ROM). Copied again the Xiaomi.eu ROM zip file to the Download folder. Rebooted to TWRP. This time I just did Factory Reset but without Format Data. Then > Install to install the Xiaomi.eu new ROM. Cleared Dalvik Cache then reboot.
PROBLEM : bootloop. Stuck with the 5G logo forever, waited more than 30 min, no change.
Still have access to recovery TWRP and to bootloader mode. I suppose this is a soft brick?
I did > Wipe, Swipe to Factory Reset + Format Data, restarted… no change.
Copied this time the Xiaomi.eu ROM to a clean formatted (FAT32) USB drive. As shown in some tutorials, you can us an external USB drive via USB OTG to install the Custom ROM via TWRP.
Factory Reset + Format Data, then I installed again the same Xiaomi.eu ROM from the external USB. Still stuck in bootloop.
Please I need help to fix the problem
I’m not an expert developer, but I’m not a complete noob either.
This is the first time I have troubles with a brand new Xiaomi Phone.
It’s the first time I get a very expensive phone, but had no choice (they are getting very expensive), because I always buy a Flagship Xiaomi to get all the community support possible.
And I had to change the ROM to Xiaomi.eu, because the Official Global ROM is full of bloatware I had a good experience with Xiaomi.eu ROMs with my old Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 5.
At this point I don’t mind going back to stock MIUI Global ROM.
I suppose that with access to boot loader I can flash the Official ROM from PC with MiFlash2020-3-14-0? If it’s the case can somebody show me detailed steps to do that?
For Mi 10 Official Global there is the Stable Full ROM (miui_UMIGlobal_V11.0.2.0.QJBMIXM_4f986c08cb_10.0 ) (2.45 GB) and Stable ROM (umi_global_images_V11.0.2.0.QJBMIXM_20200328.0000.00_10.0_global_09b168ff9e) (3.76 GB). Which One to flash from PC with MiFlash?
I can’t afford to hard brick the device
Thank you very much.

Hello,
i have a silly question about step 4:
someone says we should "Wipe Data", someone says we should "Format Data" ,
i don't see a real difference unless we want to change the filesystem type.
Advices ?
And also, when we format ( or wipe ) the "Data" partition, are we formatting the 256 GB partition ?
if yes, this is a really huge drawback for us who want to change ROM more frequently than other android users, because we have to backup a 256 GB partition ...
This is not fast to do online ( at least with my poor connection ) and it is not fast to do on PC or on a USB KEY.
So we have 256 GB and we need to format at each ROM change ? Too bad ...
In the good old times i did extract my microSD card and i was safe .
Someone could explain me please ?
thank you all for your patience...

Hello,
You have to format data the first time you flash xiaomi.eu rom because their rom is base on Chinese firmware (if you don't or just wipe it will not boot)
Each time you will flash a rom with different base (from Chinese base to global base or global to Chinese) you will have to format data !!
You format data to remove encryption.

Google pay isn't working as the safety net doesn't pass on stable realeses, someone made it to work on betas but I had no luck though
Stuck without solutions
Hello,
I tried to flash the latest miui 12. I followed all the steps...
But now I can't acess recovery nor rom.
Basically when i try to flash TWRP with bootloader it just goes back to fastboot.
Also note that the flash is successful. But I somehow can't acess TWRP, just goes back to fastboot
And when I flash the experimental TWRP on the dev thread it boots to recovery but asks for a password.. Impossible to flash anything.. Even after I formated data and everything
I tried flashing other TWRP I found but nothing boots even after trying a lot of time.
I tried <fastboot boot recovery.img> as well
I tried <fastboot erase recovery> and then flash the TWRP as well
I've been trying hard for the last 8 hours.
I also have a backup of when I had MIUI 12. But impossible to flash it with the only recovery I can boot to.
I feel so desperate. I'm out of ideas.
If you have any ideas, I'm listening
Thanks for the help guys.
