Hi, i just bought this phone and i found a really annoying problem: i can't receive calls when i'm under 4G LTE but i can make them. I'm pretty sure that this thing happens because my operator (Wind, IT) doesn't support calls under 4G (but every other phone just switches to 3G, on my Moto G i don't receive them at all) so i'm here to ask: is there something like an Xposed module that does what the phone is supposed to do before receiving a call? Or: will the problem be fixed by changing ROM and using a CM12?
Thanks a lot for all your answers.

What I'd do first is trying a different SIM card. If that works, you need too look no further on your phone. Do you have one lying around, preferably from a different carrier?

Hello all,
Ive noticed recently that I lose my data connection on my Sensation 4G (4g, 3g, or edge) whenever I am on a phone call. It comes back immediately after I hang up, but I can't use any data while on the call. Its really strange as Ive never had this issue on any of my previous TMobile phones (G2x, Vibrant, G1). Anyone else have the same issue and has anyone found a fix\workaround? Its quite annoying when ur trying to look up something in Google Maps while on a call and theres no data
Ive double-checked WCDMA\GSM Auto is enabled in wireless settings btw., and it switched between Edge, 3g adn 4g without issue. Seems limited to being on a phone call.
want to know this answer as well

It's based on the Carrier that u r using..This is not an issue of the Phone.
I'm on Vodafone India with same issue..I can't get data connection while Call, But when I switched the Carrier it works again...
So in short this is depended on the Carrier that u r using..Some carriers support this dual task(call+data) and some dont...

Hi! If I have my Nexus 5 in 4G, everything works great and fast, except the sms that take about 1 minute to being sent when they are a little big (4 or 5 parts). But on 3G, the big sms are sent right away, only take a few seconds like usual. I know thats not a network problem because I had the note 3 before and everything worked fine on 4G, the sms were sent very fast. Can this be a software problem on the Nexus 5?
Not disputing your findings but just know that LTE is a DATA only application now. So even if you have "LTE" displayed up top, you are still using the WCDMA (AKA 3G) air interface to send SMS.
Why it would send faster if LTE data is disabled i have no idea. The SMSC stays the same on either one so it shouldn't matter.
That's my question, why its a lot faster in 3G, I don't understand this because makes no sense. I want to enable 4G but annoys me that takes so much time to send a sms. But can this be a software problem? Or hardware? I don't know if I should return my device or not.
I believe it has to switch from LTE to 3G/H/H+ to send the sms. It only has 1 radio chip with 1 antenna. So you can only use 1 radio at a time. I have noticed when watching my phone while sending SMS, that LTE switches to 3G/H/H+, then the SMS sends, then LTE comes back.
Because SMS isn't sent using 4G. If you're on 4G, it switches to 3G in the background to send the SMS.
Same for a voicecall. Your phone will switch to 3G. LTE is data only.
So can be the phone that takes some time to change for 3G and it makes the sms to take more time to being sent? I understand what you guys are saying but I don't understand whats the problem in my phone and how can I solve this.

your solution: turn off lte.
thats the only way to solve the issue you are describing.
But can this be a hardware problem? Should I return my phone? I want to be able to enable LTE and do everything fast, like I have done with other phones and everybody does, this isn't suppose to happen, right? I have a 4G phone and its like a 3G one, I think you understand my frustration.
Hello all
My Nexus has very bad connection on 2G/EDGE. When I use the same SIM-Card in my Galaxy S3, I have full 2G connection. The 3G/4G connection works fine on my Nexus.
I have reset my Nexus already. -> No success.
Do you have any idea?
Sorry for my very very bad english.
flash the latest radio and see if that fixes it.
Maybe you are covering up the antenna with your hand
Why is this an issue? Are you trying to save battery?
I have stock Rom and no root. So i wouldnt flash something. And no I'm not covering the antenna with my hand.
And i need 2G, because in Switzerland are many many places without 3G or 4G.

Happens to me too - for example on 2G, sometimes FB messenger works in that I can see the incoming messages, but I can't send any messages. Also sometimes I receive texts (SMS) hours later than they were sent by the other person.
I think it's something related to LG haha, my Optimus 2X did it as well!

So the title pretty much sums it up. I have a rooted sprint nexus 5 running stock 5.0.1. And I'm a still randomly missing calls and texts. Phone doesn't ring. Missed texts and missed call notifications don't appear until rebooting the phone.
I know this was a problem with 4.4 on the nexus 5 but I thought 5.0 was supposed to fix this. Am I do in something wrong? Help would be much appreciated.
Check your network
I'm having the same problem
I have had a Nexus 5 for the last year. It was a great phone but did miss some calls, but had good reception. I recently broke that phone and purchased a newer one. The reception is awful. I had to buy a microcell booster just to work it in my home where I didn't have to before. If the phone has one bar you can't receive or send calls. If it has two bars it's a crap shoot. Often times when I call there will be two bars and as soon as I press send to call someone the phone drops to no bars. Is this a software or phone or hardware problem?
My issue seems to be receiving texts and calls while on wifi. If so, I will get texts really late, or out of order. With phone calls i just may note receive them at all, nor get a missed call or voicemail notification. I've heard some peopl say that the issue an LTE one and switching to 3G helps the problem but I've found that recently that is not the case. If I am on wifi my sprint nexus 5 just cant seem to get it right...
For Sprint, there could be issues with the signaling for voice/sms when on LTE since the N5 is a single radio for everything. Another thing it could be is the modem version. Also if you got a replacement it's possible the connections are just loose inside or one of them is disconnected for the antenna.
I'm on sprint too and I get the notorious double texts has to be something on sprints end

Sorry to necropost, but i'm reviving this to see if anyone else is still having the same problem??? Has this been fixed on Android 5.1 or 5.1.1 ? There has to be a better solution than having to be on 3G and keeping wifi on only when phone is awake. Help or advanced knowledge of the problem would be appreciated.
Its Sprint, it sucks

Well the problem of receiving a call and losing the 4g signal and therefore the Internet has a solution? Or is it a problem that characterizes the oneplus :confuso:
??? if you mean that when you receive a call 4G turns to 3G thats just how it works, as voice has a different signal frequency to 4G. Some sim companies will support some phones to have VoLTE or Voice over LTE basically allowing you to keep your 4G signal while calling and have a higher definition and quality of call. But ye its not an issue normally thats just how it works.

No. I mean that when entering a call, the data is cut off as if it were turned off. And when the call ends, the data signal comes back, this has never happened to me only with the oneplus. And it's annoying to be downloading or playing and losing because of this problem

It can not be normal that when a call is received, the data is deactivated
Data goes off when in call. Wifi will still work im call if connected to it

You didn't understand his question.
Whenever he's on a call, the data gets deactivated, not going from 4G to 3G, not even down to H... He can't use the internet at all, and that's his problem.

Ok well I don't know then if it comes back after the call ends it 100% has something to do with the SIM carrier or the network type.

He wasn't explaining it properly and it clearly doesn't affect anything at all. If it loses 4g during call and comes back after call then it's probably fine that's why i was confident it probably had something to do with the way his network is configured other than that in still confident it's normal

As he mentioned very clearly in his 2nd post (pretty clear in first)... When he makes a phone call, during that call he cannot access internet (aka mobile data). Not once did he say anything about switch from 4G to 3G (like you randomly for some reason said was happening, even though it wasn't).
What isn't clear is what you are trying to say without punctuation !

Well maybe, just mabe the way his mobile data is configured to be 4g only. Just thinking...
Normally 4g shuts off on voice calls if not on VoLTE.

The change from 4g to 3g is normal when I make the call. When I receive the call this does not happen, it is as if the mobile data (Internet access) was deactivated. When playing online, I receive a call immediately, I lose my Internet connection due to the call, it happens on the Oneplus 5 and 6.

It happens in any type of network. When receiving a call immediately the mobile data is disabled
Yes, if you do not have VoLTE enabled for whatever reason (carrier might doesn't support it) you will lose mobile data once the connection downgrades to 3g for the call. This is completely normal. It does come back after the call is finished, as it is the case in your scenario as well. There is nothing you can do about it as far as I know, except getting VoLTE to work.
Seems normal to me. Classic 3G networking only uses one antenna. So when a call is placed, Data is cut off.
With H+ (3G+), which uses two combined antennas, you can have calls and Data at the same time, but it won't always work. It's always been like that for me on all my phones !
All in all, it's related to your network, that's just how it works. Only VoLTE would really solve that.
Go into the settings of your phone app, go to Sim and Network and make sure you have 2G/3G/4G automatic selected. If not select it and reboot then call mom
Firstly, make sure your provider supports volte. Next, make sure your apns are correct on your sim to support this. Then try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...te-forcefully-activated-t3797538/post76670517
For those of you in the USA that may have issues using text or voice over WiFi but NOT over volte, the above may help you as well. I know it helped me.
