Does iT worth To Buy M2 - Sony Xperia M2

HI guys i need help and your opinion.
Im thinking to buy xperia m2 and
Is battery life good ? and performance Gaming and sound!
And does it have official lolipop relase or not?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Point by point:
Is a good device: yes, is it worth in 2H of 2015? No. There are better devices at that prices, specially the Moto E 4G.
Battery life: Average. It'll last for a day of normal use for sure. Sound... Meh, loudspeaker sounds very low by default, and you will need to install a sound mod like Dolby Atmos to have it louder. Even tho, it sounds cracky.
Gaming... Another meh. The internal space is low (but it's even lower in other devices like moto e, take that into account!!), you have something less than 5GB of internal storage, plus sd card expansion... And I personally don't like to game with it as it gets quite hot.
And lastly, lollipop... We are waiting sony to release it, and we expect it will be released either this month or next month.
BTW, This thread should go in Q&A.

I can't fault mine, it's a year old still looks and performs as new. I wouldn't buy a new one now(mine was free on a contract), but 2nd hand they are a good buy if in new/good condition. I chose my Xperia m2 over the original moto g not really ever regretted it

[Q] Xperia Z or Nexus 5?

In the store where I'm buying a new smartphone, both Xperia Z and Nexus 5 16 gb have the same price.
So I would like you to tell me what you think is best.
My main usage is social apps/web browsing, watch movies, listen to music, take casual photos and gaming (just a little).
I know the N5 has a much better cpu and gpu, but I'm not going to play much hardcore games (maybe just some GTA).
The advantages of Xperia Z are:
micro-sd slot (big advantage for me)
it's waterproof (awesome)
better battery life(?)
has better headphone audio quality
even though it hasn't got android 4.4 yet, it has android 4.3 with Sony apps
better overall quality
I can't really decide because I like Nexus 5 too, it's design and screen.
Just another question do you think is Xperia Z worth 70€ more than Nexus 4? (not related to the main choice)
Thank you.

Hold off for the Nexus 5 for now as there are many issues with it and google cannot get solid ground whether its a hardware or software issue, especially on the mic. Generally when a new device comes out i let it wait out and watch for bugs so I don't suffer through them but this time I couldn't resist.
I dont think xperia z is gud...one of my colleague had z...the display on it was sh*tty!! Bettr go for z1...its on par with N5....i hav N5 and my colleague exchanged his z with z1..
Z1 has superior camera, battery, display on par, sony apps+ android 4.4 on the way!!
But personally i prefer my N5 as its smaller more compact more lighter..

I had the Xperia Z and returned it within 2 days. The battery life was HORRID and it couldn't be flashed or anything had I decided to do it. It was a beautiful phone and I loved the features but it chewed through almost 70% of my battery within 4 hours with only about 2 hours of that total being used to play games and surf the web.
My Nexus 5 on the other hand, stock, would go all day with the same usage. Now that I flashed a custom rom and kernel it lasts even longer. It doesn't have a microSD nor is it waterproof. But if storage is an issue then save up $50 more and get the 32gb version. Also, phones don't belong in water anyways and I've always been in the mindset to keep my phone in my pocket and use a bluetooth headphones to take calls.
Xperia z is garbage. Do not recommend

z1 is beautiful.
We can't decide for you, its your money your purchase.
Yeah you're all right I should pick N5, the problem is the Nexus 5 is out of stock atm in store I have to buy it, I'm hoping it gets back on by the end of the week.
In case it doesn't, I have to pick another phone because I have a coupon that ends at that time. So if that would happen, is the Xperia Z worth the 100$ over the Nexus 4?

Again, if battery is one of your main concerns then the Xperia Z shouldn't be on your list. But if I had to pick another phone because the Nexus 5 isn't in stock, I would go with the Moto X.
had one year ago xperia z just a while and sold it.
the main reason that you will not get the same speed and support like for the nexus 5.
and even with so popular galaxy s4, our still not that smooth like nexus 5.
why other companies cannot get normal android os for their devices and do not install their garbage software.
when I test z1 and z. the speed on z1 is definitely faster than z. But I prefer N5 than z1.

fyi i own n5 and xz and the xperia z has a better cam and is a perfect outdoor phone, the n5 is the speed monster. Combined they are a good team
Also the Xperia Z's battery time is much better than the n5's.

Xperia Z3 or Z3 Plus ?

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking into buying the Z3 and I know there is an Octa-core version called the Z3+
I'm wondering if anyone has input into which one I should buy...
I'm looking at the D6653 and the D6553
thanks for your input
I have bought a Z3 two months ago, coming from a Z1. It's a very fast phone, compared to my old Z1, and in everyday use there is nothing to complain about it.
I got the 5.1 Lollipop on it and battery life is pretty good, close to two days, moderate to heavy use, with 4G enabled, sync alway on.
Display is very nice, good viewing angles on it, doesn't get too warm under use, at least compared to Z3+.
So, as a Z3 user I am saying, go for it, it's still a fast phone for today's standards.

So your opinion is that I should get the Z3 and not the Z3+ ?
I think so, at least in my opinion. At least you will avoid heating issues with the Z3+ which everyone is complaining about.
And I am pretty sure you will not notice a drop in performance, even though the Z3+ has a better CPU. Z3 is a fast and responsive phone, cannot go wrong with it.

yes and battery life is a very important consideration for me as well and im assuming the upgraded cpu and gpu drain the batter faster
i am upgrading from my z1 and have been very happy with its battery life
another consideration is that ill probably want to root the phone and use the latest cyanogenmod with it

Battery life is better on Z3 than it was on my Z1, I must say. And in real life use you will not see a noticeable difference between Z3 and Z3+, but you will get battery life on the Z3.
Plus, you will get a better price on the Z3 than you'd get for a Z3+.
A little while back I made a post like yours, what to get between the two phones, and a lot of users advised me to get the Z3 over the Z3+ and they were right, the phone performs admirably.

yes. octa core processor, better cam, better front cam. not sure about overheating issues when recording 4K.
Z3+ have better built quality. special power button
go for z5 then
I'd get Z3+ just because there's less stuff on the sides so it looks cleaner. No magnetic charger and the usb flap is moved to the bottom and left open.
I will tell you what is better on Z3+ and what is better on Z3. Z3+ is better in this things: 32 GB internal memory, flapless micro USB, brighter screen, louder speakers, much better sound quality over headphones and camera is slightly better (nothing special, most off people will not notice that). On Z3 Android and UI works so much better and smoother. Maybe Android 5.1.1 will fix smoothness on Z3+ and bring Z5 UI. Only thing why I did not go for Z3 is no good sound quality over headphones after Android 5.0.2 update. On Android 5.1.1 sound quality is slightly better but no match for Z3+. And that is why I have Z3+ and hoping for Android 5.1.1 to bring back Z3 Android smoothness.
Now it is on you to decide. We can't do it for you. Only thing we can do is to say our opinion on each device.

Still a good choice in 2016?

Been using the moto x 2013 for some time now and its just about perfect. I dont game, my use is heavy on web, text. The problem with my X is that the microphone doesnt seem to work anymore, I have to carry a wired or bluetooth to talk on the phone...which is a pain.
I want something small, similar in size, to replace it. Ive narrowed it down to a S4 or LG G2. Which would you guys recommend? Anyone else make a move from the X 2013 to one of these models?
Thanks,
Mario
If it is bought new, sure. But second hand you can get more recent models at the same prices.
Based solely on the specs, I would go for the G2. When I'm looking for a phone the first thing I look at is the performance, and, looking at the hardware, the G2 is better equipped than the S4. But this is just on paper.
For all I know, the real world performance may be the same.
I am satisfied with the S4
Thanks. Yeah either the G2 or S4 new is what I want, just curious to hear what folks think getting a 2.5 year old device. Id get a new flagship but all of them are just too big.
Get the snapdragon variant. The exynos overheats
S4 is still a very good phone: it can run without problems marshmallow custom roms and you can play on it big games like fifa 16 or asphalt. But if you want a good new phone and almost same dimensions like s4, I recommand OnePlus X.
I don't think S4 will be a good idea now. I had both versions (GT-I9500 and GT-I9505) before I moved for Xperia Z3 D6643. Unfortunately, I have damaged my Z3 and until it got fixed, I will be using the GT-i9505 again.
This phone is driving me crazy, even with max brightness, it's impossible (looks like a black screen) to use it under sunligh. 3G, and 4G (not to talk about GPS) data drains a huge % of battery, average screen on time is about 3-3,5h, no battery optmizations.
The Z3 (5.2") and Z3 compact (4.6") are the best options when talking about cost x benefit. Almost 10h screen on time and +800h standby time.
Thanks all. I kept looking and looking for new S4 or g2 but everything out on the Bay was new "other" or sellers with tons of negative feedback. Lots of positive but also much negative. I just saw no trusty sellers. Ended up pulling trigger on oneplus x. Now the wait for it begins. Hope oxygen is decent.

run very very good i have add the QI modul and it run official rom until custome have no bug ( zero bug ) actualy custom rom have some BT problem and i use My S4 with my smart watch here why BT are important now if you see forum you have big chois of rom ( custom ) and all tested and run very very well on S4 personaly i change phone until S4 are dead hahaha but LG have an Good support in my watch runing official 6.0 firmware LG give quicly update whet are roling out but samsung are still on 5.0.1 bad guys samsung
@spawk
Samsung has it's own update cycle. Most flagships get support from Samsung up to 2 years after released.
And, in 2016, Galaxy S4 won't be supported anymore.

The Only thing that is extremely bad about i9505 is its sound quality in earphones. On gsmarena u will see they will say it has best audio quality but in reality its far far away from the best its so flat and dumb.Even all the chinese phones sound better than it there is literally no bass at all in the sound and if u increase it by an equalizer the volume decreases alot.
You could also try i9506 S4 LTE+/LTE A
Ive been using this device for a long time now. Recently broke my galaxy note 3's lcd and sold my lg g2. Back on my i9506 and still good. Its not far with g2 in terms performance. Although I use 2 batteries on my i9506 but hey, great device

Sound quality depends a lot on the headphones. I hardly think that in-ear ear buds are great at producing bass.
Let's not forget about the song quality too. Anything with a bitrate lower than 320KBPS will have its quality reduced. So always go for 320 or FLAC.
It can have the best sound chip in the world if the headphones are garbage and the music file has static noise.

There are always better devices. My 2 other devices (An ZTE Blade and LG P350) sound crappy compared to my S4.
That's why there are mods like viper4android. With the right setup you can get nice bass.
Besides, stuff like this is just a preference. I, for instance, don't like heavy basses. I like to listen to the music, not the "boom boom" sound of the bass.

I Dont like much bass either but the sound of i9505 compared to Sony Xperia Z2,Galaxy Grand Prime,Galaxy J5,Galaxy Ace 3 and the desktop computer is really flat and lacking.I can hear more elements in even samsungs lowest end phones than i9505 using the same earphones
Stay away from S4.
- Lollipop roms are okay but not very fast.
- Exynos AND snapdragon can overheat actually depends on the kernel.
- microphone distortion (personally) which I can hear as I play back the call recording
- not as fast or smooth as I expected for quad core when I previously had S5 mini
- Sometimes run out of ram but not too often
Generally just don't expect much. The specs look really good on paper but it's actually not that good a phone.
The screen resolution is very high which is nice.
Camera quality / focus is average as well. Slow to focus. Quality average.
I suggest buy 2nd hand used S5 or S6.
Unfortunately no S6 mini.
@fatjoez
1. Really? 5.1.1 is okay for me.
2. I've a device with Intel processor and it does the same thing. In short: All CPUs could overheat.
3. -skipped-
4. Blame Samsung's policies.
5. I'm only felt it on TW ROMs.
And no, I won't buy Exynos devices. Devices with Snapdragon SOCs are the best choice.
But, it's up to you. I couldn't interfere your mind.

Well I bought a oneplus x. Been using it for one day and I'm not sure about it. Works OK. Speed us good but it's just too big. I just wish I could find a phone the same size as the 2013 moto x. Now I'm thinking either a S4 or Z5 compact. :/

xperia z3 or xperia z3+

Which one is better...
The X3+ is a tad faster but it overheats like crazy with video and intensive games (some even report overheating on light games and everyday use).
From 8 seconds of 4k video (to a max of about 18 seconds) you''ll get a camera shut down due to overheating. Even things like that augmented reality face changing thing (where you video someone and it overlays a funny mouth in real time) - 5-12 seconds of that at the Z3+ goes heat-FUBAR.
**********************
Mind you, I can't recommend he Z3 either - but that's just a single bad experience...
There's something f**ky in my phone that allows the battery to be 100% overnight after a charge but drain from 92% (after a little use) to 7% in four hours when switched off.
Your mileage may vary, of course.. I'm biased now but won't recommend either. Sour grapes? Maybe, likely...
Go with Z3 it's one of the best phones from sony in terms of stable and good materials. Support is long gone but I haven't been missing the Nougat update. If you're on budget go with Z3 as you will get a good experience at no extra cost, otherwise maybe you should try with something from a higher tier like the X Performance or the brand new XZ line. I have been hearing many good comments on the latest one and if I had bought my phone in a later time I would probably have gone for the XZ.
Anyways as a current user of Z3 since mid 2016 and with no plans to change it for another phone anytime soon I would totally go with the Z3.
PD: I wouldn't consider buying the Z3+ or the Z5 as it's the Windows Millenium version of Xperias. Personally I think the best high tier phones from Sony till now are Z, Z2/Z3, X Perf, XZ
If you care for android Nougat then the Xperia Z3+ might be your best choice but then again it overheats like hell. But If your are looking for features for a much reasonable price the Xperia Z3 is your bet.

Xperia XZ Audio Capabilities? Hi-Fi

Hello XZ owners!
I was wondering what the quality of the DAC is on this phone?
I'm looking for phones that have good quality sound/DAC like the axon 7 that doesn't require me to tweak with Viper.
I like the XZ because it's water resistant, micro SD, and allegedly has hi-fi DAC. And Sony is apparently somewhat dev friendly.
Considering selling my OnePlus 3 for this phone, or picking it up as a phone to take out on the weekends.
Any feedback is appreciated.
For me sound quality is as good as it should be. But sound is very subiective, i would recomend to take ur faverite music(flac or what ever format u prefer) on sd card, ur hf and go to retail store which is offering sony and try it by your self. I persoally didnt herd better music like xperia xz and sony mdr-zx770bn, aptx compression is what needed.
Well the volume is not the highest, quality wise its ok but not the best also, its not on the iPhone level lets say. But I'm no sound expert by any means, I'm just comparing sound on the same ear/headphones.
I believe Samsung, LG and HTC have better sound, but its been a while since I used them so I'm not sure.
I would say that since the Nougat Update its very good ! Im using Shure SE215 and I hear no hiss at all (Before Update a bit, after the update none (if only music is played )). Im also owning the A35 Walkman from Sony and I would say that the XZ is very good if you think about it as a Phone and not as a DAP, as a DAP It would be still very nice !

I don't mean to be disrespectful in anyway, but i think the consensus is HTC and LG have much better DAC than Samsung. It's somewhat subjective, but when you compare the v20 and HTC 10 and AXON 7, they have the best sound on flagship phones lately. Thanks for your input ?
