still patiently a.k.a. biting my finger nails and going crazy for my pure x. i though of starting this thread to post our battery status. at this point i am really worried because this is basically the same hardware as the G4 and that one is not know for its longevity.
gotta keep an eye on this one.
hope someone can test it with greenify soon.

4 hours SOT on first drain... not bad. Keep us posted on the next few charge cycles.
also the exact timings if you would. i.e. when did u plug it off the charger and when did it reach the 1%?
and if it is not much of a burden and since you own the nexus 6, how is the new charger? Motorola said this the fastest quick charger ever

4 hours sot on WiFi is prey terrible. There has to be something eating battery. Maybe some of their junk left running like the voice assistant or the front sensors. Maybe their stock kernel is woefully inefficient. That is pretty bad sot on WiFi. I hope you had a wake lock or something from an app or brightness at max
4 hours from the very first discharge is not in the least "terrible" one bit honestly, especially considering that it's a QHD. I can't manage to pull 4 hours sometimes from my HTC One M8 that doesn't have QHD, that's on a custom ROM and kernel, AND that has a significantly smaller screen than the Moto X Pure. And the battery is only 400 mAh less than what the Moto has.

I can get 4 hours sot on my one plus on lte easily. Heavy web browsing usage. Solely on WiFi it might be close to 8 hours but I'd say at least 6 minimum.
4 hours sot for WiFi, if accurate, is a huge issue and would probably cause me to cancel. I'll wait for more accurate readings and confirmation obviously but if true that is terrible. That would put LTE SOT at around 2.5 hours.
Could also be carrier related. Those CDMA radios could be sucking juice.
I average about 4hrs on my nexus 6 unplugged from 8:30am to 11pm at night. Everything is enabled. sync, google now, location, bluetooth, wifi. If I can do about the same or better with the moto x pure I'd be content.

Everyday is mixed usage for me but I'm on WiFi probably 11 to 12 hrs of that time. Drive home and lunch time is when I'm on mobile. Weekends I'm mostly away from work but its not too much different as T-Mobile is strong in Houston. I just came back from Seattle and signal there is bad so I was definitely hurting a bit more.

my att on the other hand, wifi off and on LTE, was at 53% with 6 hours and 2 hours of screen time.

How is the LTE signal in your area, if its not strong and swapping back and forth from 3g to LTE all day it can take a huge toll on your battery.

Mine seems to be doing great. The signal isn't that great in my house either. This is more real time use as I was asleep for a while. But when I woke up at 10am this morning it was at 92. I've been using it moderately ever since. I get about 8 hours with ridiculous use(4+hr screen on time).
Never on wifi.
Edit: I realize its kind of a bad example since it was in standby more than awake. But I'm getting great battery.

I had the same problem as you did. What made a significant change for me was changing amount of apps to keep running at 4 instead of default. Also I found the xda app runs in the background, continues to drain the battery. I have to manually kill the xda app every time I exit it. For today I'm at 12 hour running, and screen on 1.5hrs and 59 percent battery life.

I have the Verizon model of the S3 as well. I have had it for over a week now because I was an early pre-order so I got it really early. For the first few days I was getting really bad battery life. I would maybe only get 8 - 9 hours with moderate usage, that being about 2 hours of screen time. I would play no games, and just browse the web and text. I am a big texter though, but on my DINC as long as I had mobile data switched off I could get plenty of life out of my phone. With this phone for some reason after about 70 percent, mine will start to drain much faster regardless of what I am using it for, even if the screen is is off. Just to test it I left all the radios on while the phone was at 100 percent over night, and the next morning it was at 96. The next day I tried the same test when my phone was at 50 percent battery, and when I woke up it was at 10 . I don't really understand what is going on here either. I keep seeing all of the reviews for the device even the Verizon version to point towards great battery life, but I am just not seeing it. Maybe rooting and a re-flashing the stock rom plus removing bloatware will help. I also got another battery just to see if that was the problem, but it doesn't seem to be. I'm hoping this is just a software issue, because I don't know why some can get such great battery and some can't. I would also hate to have to get a replacement phone.
im getting around 10 hours with Heavy use ... 6 hours of pandora, youtube, email, facebook, twitter, web
On day 6 with the phone
i read a lot of post before getting Nexus 5 last year during summer about his terrible battery life
when i got the phone i could still run a normal day usage
i was reading this article and i add in "PhoneArena.com's custom battery benchmark" a nexus 5 and the result is
S6 7:14
Nexus 5 4:50
PhoneArena.com's custom battery benchmark
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Batt...flagships-stack-up-against-each-other_id70173
not sure if this is realistic or many users has tons of app that drain S6, but if S6 has 25% more battery life that Nexus 5 i would say that is not that bad
Battery Life on the Galaxy S6 is about average at worse... but it is good... right now I have 10h 30m off charger and 2h 38m screen on time and 49% left... people just say that because it has the most powerful processor and best display on the market but the second smallest battery on any flagship... but it is more than numbers you know... and I have to say this thing charges incredibly fast... Dead to 100% in an hour and sometimes even less...
Battery is at most acceptable for daily use.
Acceptable, but not an issue because it goes from 40% to full so darned quick!
I have no idea how folks get such good SOT. I have never gotten more then three hours on any device. Some of that is that I have bad vision and I like it at least halfway to full brightness. I also have a great aversion to turning off any features. I paid to have a full featured smartphone, not a gimp!

the only way to compare battery performance of different phones is to do a maximum screen on time test with a comparable brightness, everything else just compares software wakelock bugs, most caused by 3rd party apps at that
(edit: or do screen off music playback like this test did)

I have mostly everything on except NFC, Bluetooth and GPS (only on when I need them) and I have brightness always either 50+ percent or 100 percent and get 5 hours SOT every single day. I do stream about an hour a day music through bluetooth and 4g to my car, and the usual, Facebook, Whatsapp, Camera use, Texts, hour os so of calls. The phone lasts a full day.
The only reason this phone will have lower than 5 hours screen time is if you're using your camera, sat nav software, or games all day.

Camera! I'm always shooting... I do use bluetooth a lot, but that doesn't appear to drain it much. I also turn my brightness all the way up if I'm shooting outside. I hear that Samsung has research going that could double battery capacity, but it's a little way off. That would be wonderful. Until then, I am happy to be able to recharge so fast...
It's not great but good (enough?) (and perhaps pretty damn good regarding the battery size), and indeed charges hella fast. I came from the Z3 which lasted very long though so I might be spoiled...
I actually achieved 5hr SOT yesterday (and total usage of 2 days) but it depends so much on use. After recharging to 100% and using whatsapp a lot the battery drained a lot faster for example. Now at 35% remaining with 2:10h SOT (and whatsapp and google services being the top spenders).
But yeah
this fast charging is not going to kill the battery really fast?
The battery is ****. Very similar to the Nexus 5, if not a bit worse. I use my phone quite a lot during the day. From full charge at 7am, I get the 15% battery notice at about noon. I charge it using fast charger till it reaches about 45%.. By 5pm I'm getting the low battery notice again.
I had the G4 for a week. Nearly full day of use out of that thing with same usage patterns I have on the S6.
The battery life was designed as either a secondary device or for people with a boring social/work life.

I decided to keep mine because the build quality on the S6 is on par with the iPhone 6. I enjoyed the battery life in the G4 but didn't feel I got my money's worth in quality compared to the S6. The moment a higher capacity battery is released for the S6 is the moment I'll be completely content.

Battery is surely not the best. With email sync using MailDroid, I had to charge the phone twice within the day. I don't use Facebook app, so that's a saviour. I stopped using MailDroid and battery life improved.
My usage is low to moderate, and am always on 4G LTE. Last 3-4 days I'm charging at morning 8 AM to 100%, it comes down to around 45% at 9 PM. I switch off Data at night and battery stays constant (maybe 44%). But again, if I keep screen ON for a while, then the battery is gone!
Battery is about as good as the S4, but worse than the HTC m8. Overall, it's awful considering you cannot swap it out. Unless you don't use the phone much during the day, you will need to charge it overnight and then once more during the day minimum.
This is pretty damn good in my book...
About 30 min of real racing and 10 minutes cs portable... the rest is browsing texting and youtube... half LTE and half Wi-Fi. I also had location services running on high accuracy the whole time sucking up battery life
Is it normal that Google service is always that high?

I was using it pretty hard for about 4 hours today. This is amazing battery life. I know it'll go down when I get out in the sun, but still.

Just chiming in that I too have had great battery life. I use mine at work all day long for taking notes from phone calls, and I play games in between calls, and I always have anywhere from 30-50% battery left when I leave work. I previously had a Note 2 and would be lucky to have 20% battery after work, and I had to try to use it sparingly in order to get that, no gaming or anything.

Awesome so far... My G3 is not there and it's tempermental. I would hope that one battery is enough to last a whole day, but with the promotion AT&T is doing, it won't be long until the second battery is in my hands and it won't matter at all. I do love that! So far the shots look great, and as most people get their devices settled in it will really show it's true colors... For the second day that's pretty good in my book. SoT over 4 is aces these days with all these screens coming in at over 5...

The promotion is what made me not care. $175 worth of kit?! Yes please! But now having it and getting over 4 hours SOT, I'm very satisfied. Also, you hit the nail on the head. TWO screens, six inches of it, and over 4 HOURS SOT.... I'll take it!
If you look at the notes five forums you will see that to begin with everyone was complaining about battery life, however after short time everybody calmed down after the battery settled down. Has been the same with every device I have ever owned. Battery life takes a few days to reach efficiency.

Only seeing really is screen see to auto brightness . other than that I'm just using the phone. Nothing special.
I'm getting about 4 hours with Waze, screen at around 20-30 brightness, sync and data on. Standby time is awesome. On my first charge for example, I got 4 hours minimal use from 8%!! That was on wifi though and since it was first charge, it's not very objective info.
My phone is not going into deep sleep worth a damn. It almost seems like it is Bluetooth related (I leave BT on 24/7 - haven't had a problem in previous devices). Once I shut off BT, it seems to be sleeping, but I need to test it more. The phone isn't connected to anything. I just leave BT idling for when I get into my car basically... don't like having to turn it on/off, just like WiFi. Battery stats are showing that Android System is what is staying awake though, and not BT. Anyone else having a problem like this?
I get just ok battery life. Seems better than my G4(which I only had for 5 days. Still my Nexus 6 and old Note 5 seemed to be a lot better

This was because of a couple of updates that settled things down a bit...

hi guys, would like to know if you are happy with the battery life or not.. can you get a couple of days battery life with moderate usage and 4-5 hours sot maybe? that's what I use to get with my xz2c... i know experience may vary from people to people and usage etc but with moderate usage it should be pretty clear what I mean... (messaging, browsing, emails, no games, and such)
and AOD turned on please!
tia!

I rarely look at sot but in general, after 4 days, the battery life is perfectly fine. Not stellar but I haven't hit 50% yet after all day use. I'd say easy 5 hours sot simply because I use Strava which is a battery hog while biking and running. With my P2 I'd come home with about 75% or less. With the P3 it's mid 80s and I still last the whole day without a charge. I tend to look at overnight drain AOD but face down so I guess that doesn't count, but I'm either getting 0.5% / hour or 0.6. On my P2 it was about 1.2% / hour. I'll check sot today and edit.

thank you very much sir for your reply so appreciate!
if someone can post also the overnight drain with airplane mode ON and AOD always ON too (that's how I would use it at night), that would be fantastic!
I got just over 5 hours of screen on time yesterday with heavy usage. 6:30AM to 11:30PM.
Adaptive screen brightness set to favor higher brightness. AOD enabled (this turns off when in a pocket or face down on a table, BTW). No gaming. On Wifi for ~70% of the day. Did not top off the charge at any point.
5 to 6 hr on lte. 6 to 7 on wifi. Like the pixel 2

I have only had it for a couple days, but I would never expect it to outlast an Xperia device. Those things go forever! I use LTE all day at work and then WiFi in the evenings at home. The phone stays on vibrate mode from 8am-5pm, and is primarily issued for occasional texts and checking XDA. I leave work with about 70% battery.
YouTube handles the rest of the load from 6pm-10pm. I don't track SOT but the battery percentage drops below 20% regularly with this routine.
Saturday when I put it on the charger at bedtime, it was at 51% with 4 hrs & 10 mins SOT. I thought that was outstanding.
I have super light usage and I get about 4 days. I didn't take a screenshot sadly.
Better than pixel 2 was...6.5hr sot on lte and 7 to 8 on wifi

Can you all please post actual stats with screenshot. Mine doesn't hit more than 5 hours with mixed wifi and lte usage.

That is normal. All of these high sot numbers are on WiFi only with special use cases, probably no cellular calls either.

I'm happy for those getting great battery life.
On mine it is definitely worse than my pixel 2 with the same usage.
I can get maybe 4.5 hours screen on time before it goes dead. Mixed LTE and wifi usage.
Hopefully it will improve after some updates.

My battery life is also noticably worse than the P2.. was running flash kernel on it and I know the P3 has a higher resolution screen but still.. If usually end the day with 70% left on my P2 whereas now I'm left with about 50%. All good signal LTE.

Lol, then you have no worries because you are clearly a light user. ?
It's still early days since I'm doing all the set up still which means more screen time than normal, but the fast charge is ridiculously good, even when connected to a PC.
Battery life is okayish. With normal use like browsing, some videos, light gaming, fb, insta, WA..etc it will go through till the end of the day. I get around 4-4.5 hours of SOT with WiFi, AOD off. I'll test it out more, probably.
