Heya there so I don't see any posts on throttling anywhere lately. Everything is outdated! It seems like everyone has given up on this kind of thing.I was surprised to see my upload speed was constantly high (40-50mpbs) on hot spot shield yet download shot up and abruptly returned to throttled speed. So what's going on here? I feel like a packet gets sent by the phone when it first connects that then verified that my account is throttled. Hence why it's fast for the first second then it dips. Any info on this? And also the upload speeds?

Has anyone else experianced this it has happened to me from day one when i open up speed test app and it says finding closest server the bar that scrolls back and forth jumps around lags stops then it says the closest server is witchita kansas and i live in south florida now sometimes it works flawless finds a server in miami but everytime i run the test it takes 30 to 45 seconds before it even starts it just says testing ping then it comes on ping time is usally around 130 210 ms but most of the time it dosent work at all says network error but if i toggle airplane mode or data on off and try again it works great the first time but any subsequent time requires toggling the data
Sounds like you just have a poor network connection. Depending on what part of Clewiston you live in, there are some pretty significant gaps in AT&T coverage.
How does the speedtest app work for you when you are on wifi?
wifi seems ok the randomness of the speedtest app is crazy i usually have full bars at my house but even showing fukk bars i get the network error and one it throws me that error i have found that i have no data at all i can place calls but cant log on facebook or connect to the market cant send recieve e-mails or sms i have to toggle my data on off and then it goes back to work then if i run speed test it works ok the first time if i run it again right after that it gives me network error and i have to toggle data i dont know if its the app i have been having these random network issues from the time i got the phone but it seems more prevalent with the speed test app i have unninstalled and reinstalled the speed test app but one i lose my data it never comes back without toggling on and off it majorly blows
Absolutley sounds like a data problem in your area. Full bars just indicates a strong radio signal from the tower. There's a lot more that needs to happen to get good data throughput. I suggest giving AT&T tech support a call.
They will be much more helpful than any of us can be on this forum.

I get the same issues...so i tested using speakeasy with the browser and it runs better with a.lily better speeds. No lock ups like speetest ..My speed test will sit so long that that it will say network error..
sent from Infuse but miss my captivate on cont. 5.5.... One day this can be as good...

Maybe it just can't keep up with the blazing speed of the AT&T network? HEHE, sorry I just had to say it... And even I can't keep a straight face while typing that, hahahaha.
Mine has locked up several times on the upload portion of the test. This usually occurs when the data speed is bad, like dial-up bad.
This is weird when I run speed test on 4g I have download speeds of 7mbs avg. When I run Wifi I get avg of 3mbs which is about half as fast, but as far as my expierence Wifi works twice as fast when surfing web or downloading files what gives. What do you guys prefer, I mean while you are home around Wifi.

I use wifi. My 4g network sucks at my home.

Generally my results are similar. My home ISP is pretty terrible though, really the only time I use Wifi is to download ROMs, for whatever reason I seem get issues if I download them over the Mobile Network, possibly corrupted downloads.
Otherwise just for Wifi calling.

Everytime I used Wifi calling my calls would be dropped with in a min got that crap turned off plus it may use plan mins lol

WiFi & 4G are around the same at my home.... WiFi is usually around 9.5 mb/s while 4G is around 6 to 7 mb/s. Call quality is noticeably better on 4G than WiFi.
T-Mo has a free option in your account to not get charged for WiFi calling minutes...it's disabled by default so log on or call and get it changed if you use WiFi for calling.

I have unlimited plan so it don't matter I was being sarcastic

4G is spotty where I live.. maybe 500kbs at best.. though at my friends place, I can get 9-11Mbs.
My wifi works great though, I get about 18Mbs down at home, and about 7Mbs at work. WiFi calling works great for me at home.

This is my theory remember its not fact just a theory.
Using the mobile data connection you have to share with every person in that area on T-Mobile. Using wifi you only share with the people in your neighborhood. Even tho you are getting those speeds with a higher ping because of couple hundred people playing pandora or something it will slow the process.
Another thing remember a speed test is just that a test. It is done in a short period of time. I can run a speed test at my house through out the day and get varying results. Even while getting the max DL speed sometimes things will take longer to load then when Im barely getting 1mb speeds. The load on the network has a very large result on how fast things actually download.
Good point

I hope you aren't sharing your wifi with others in your neighborhood

Heh, no but cable internet does share from the hub.
I was just about to comment on ping times... even though throughput is high, ping does play a major role.

Ok...... My statement was for those people.who do not have unlimited plan...and how to make sure your wifi calls DO NOT come out of your monthly minutes.

I average around 6MB/s on my Skyrocket on Net10. When I download files, I only get download speeds that are under 1MB/s. Is there something wrong with my phone? How can I get full download speed when streaming/downloading files, instead of just getting a fraction of the speed?
When you say you're getting 6MB/s I'm assuming you're using a speed test. You sound like my son. He doesn't realize it's a server issue your connecting to that is slow. It's always the Wi-Fi or the phone.

Correct ^^^
I to thought the same thing at one point. until i realized its not the speed of your network. Its the speed of the place you're downloading from network speed.
About 3 days ago I unrooted my Galaxy SIII and I noticed a HUGE decline in data speeds, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not. But while rooted on CM10.1 I was able to use my tether and play Xbox LIVE fine. Now my phone is barely usable at all. No YouTube videos load. Any ideas what may be causing this? I tried searching and kept getting a connection error, sorry if this is already a topic.

Sprint could have audited your usage and determined that you were tethering your device, and thus have began throttling your network usage. If nothing has changed, you are in the same area, this would be the only logical explanation. You should read your TOS and make sure the tethering was not explicitly considered against TOS.
Just started my new bill period, it's back to normal speeds. I thought Sprint didn't throttle speeds?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
They don't usually, but I believe that tethering your device is against Sprint's TOS, so if they caught you doing that they probably would.
Hello guys. So I wanted to inform you all of what I received today. Currently boost throttles to 25kb/s but now they say they will throttle even more.
BstFreeMsg: Starting 5/6/14, if you use over 2.5GB of data during your mo. plan cycle, data speeds will now be reduced to 2G speeds. Info at http://msg4u.us/wae
I personally take this to mean edge speeds, which would be more like 8kb/s.... If you can, I'd almost recommend jumping ship here if you use lots of data.

Im throttled and it takes almost a full minute to load Facebook newsfeed and when Im streaming I have to let the video buffer for a half hour before I can watch about 20 mins
