Hey guys.
I didn't know if this exactly qualifies as a question or an inquiry, so I decided to post it here.
I live in Palestine, and I have friends who use the Samsung GS2. Now as we all know, the GS2 received an update to ICS a while ago.
Non of my friends where able to upgrade nor through the in-device update option or through Kies.
I have a GS3, I haven't updated it in over a month. I keep looking for official OTAs through my phone but it keeps giving Me the "cannot connet to network" error. I get nothing through Kies which says I have the latest firmware.
I was able to check for updates normally when I bought my phone in Jordan and if there was no update it will till me so.
My question is, is there no server in Palestine or something?
All the phones mentioned above are unrooted and are international phones ans not locked to a carrier.

[Q] safe to use SGH-I317M firmware for SGH-I317 Note 2?

I have a non-rooted AT&T US Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-I317), which I only use in wifi-mode along with a FreedomPop hotspot (I cancelled my AT&T contract last fall). So apparently I am not getting any more OTA/Kies system updates from AT&T (I am still on 4.1.2), and I would like to update my phone to 4.4.2
I found a non-rooting method for updating the firmware to the latest version of kitkat online using ODIN, but unfortunately I've been unable to find SGH-I317 4.4.2 firmware files anywhere online. I have however found several Canadian versions (SGH-I317M).
My question:
Is it safe to use these SGH-I317M files to upgrade my SGH-I317 model, keeping in mind I don't need any cellular functionality whatsoever? If not, is anyone aware of a SGH-I317 4.4.2 firmware file I could use instead?

thanks - I was able to find 4.4.2 stock on xda, successfully loaded via ODIN

[Q] I got my tablet three days ago and saw the OTA

Is the one showing the lollipop update and if I update will I still be able to root using towelroot? I saw the stuff about losing the warranty if I treat it like my cellphone and root with customer recovery and all that.

Lollipop is not coming until the 18th. I'm sure you were prompted for the last Kit Kat update.

Check the version number of the ota. If it is 2.0 then its lollipop and rooting may not be available yet. If it is 1.x then its just a kitkat ota and your good to go.

How long can I go without updating from 5.0.2

Hello xda forum. I currently have a samsung galaxy s6 that has been rooted. I actually tripped Knox in the process by using TWRP. and I was wondering when do I have to update before my apps stop working because of my android version being too low? I was reading online that Android 6.0 marshmallow was going to be released in the fall so I'm wondering if I'm going to have to update to that when it comes out. And how do I update when I'm rooted on 5.0.2 I can't use an OTA update because I tried going into the settings and I tried doing a software update in there but its not letting me so how am I supposed to update my phone to marshmallow 6.0? I'm from Canada and our cell phone plans last two years so if I can go without updating for two years I will be happy. can somebody please reply saying what I should do?

[Completed] Looking for AT&T S4 I337 OTA update for 4.4.2 to 4.4.4

Recently switched from Sprint to AT&T. I have been using a S4 I337. I am happy with it. Rooted it. Not happy with volume but I am happy. Bought another for my wife but it had 5.0 on it. I had tried that but did not like it. I used ODIN and flashed hers but it has 4.4.2. Would like matching phones ( I have a touch of OCD). Seems I can't find the update. Does anyone have it or know where
