[Q] My phone contacts cannot be visible to whatsapp

Dear all,
I use google account to input my contacts. Now, when I input a contact to my android phone. The contact does not show in whatsapp. I am sure the user is having whatsapp installed. How can I make my contacts visible in whatsapp.

in whats app setting, contacts, check the show all contacts...(maybe its hidden contact with this check its ok)
if not worked, maybe the one you think had whats app, registered with another phone number,

Go to Whatsapp settings>contacts>tick show all contacts.. if the problem persists then try syncing your contacts again with whatsapp servers by going to phone settings>accounts& syn>tap whatsapp account then sync contacts... it will solve your problem...Click Thanks if i helped you.

Hi all , for days now im trying to fix this problem , i tried almost everything but nothing works.
Can't see my contact list on whatsapp , viber , line etc , it just doesn't want to sync. The apps are working fine but i can't see any contacts , i only see the number if someone msges or calls me , and even if i add it manually to my contact list nothing happens.
I imported my contacts from my SIM , synced it with the google account , whatsapp account , everything is up to date.
It might be a ROM problem (can't ask in the development sections need 10 posts )
Im on cm-10.2-20140104-Sultan-pyramid.zip (with ION) (HTC sensation XE)
Last ROM that worked: cm-10.2-20131117-Sultan-pyramid.zip (no ION)
It seems no one has the problem cause no one is complaining about it.
Is there a possible fix? Or it's just the ROM that is not compatible , but why is no one reporting the problem?
(Google couldn't help me, i hope XDA can! )

No whatsapp contacts on CM 11
I do not have contacts, only telephone numbers in whatsapp chat, but nothing in contact list. Any idea ?

I think we have the same problem, im using CM 10.2 with ION
When someone messages me i do see the phone numbers without names , but yes my whatsapp/viber contact list is empty as well :/

Indeed! I have checked Viber and the same issue. Also my voip phone (Zoiper) does not keep call log. I have moved to CM 11 M2 Snapshot but in vain.

SOLVED!!!!
Check your Privacy Guard setting per App under security or turn it off completely.

Solved here as well privacy guard kept turning on, so turned it off completely, thank you for the reminder

I've different problem, Suddenly all but few of my contacts disappeared. I ticked "show all contacts" and they are back again. But the problem now is, I can see their status updates, online time but cant see their photo.. Few contacts photos are still visible and updates also when they change it. But 90% contacts photos are gone now.
btw I'm using slim ROM on nexus-s

I just imported my contacts from my SD card on the last ROM flash and every one appeared

same problem is happening wid me i am a htc 626g+ user

I too have the same problem, i have updated whatsapp and now i can see the phone numbers and msg but no name, and my contacts in whatsup also show empty.

Have you got a security app like LBE or XPrivacy.
I think permissions to sync contacts and these apps are blocked if u can see only numbers

Thank you for the reply, no I don't use any privacy app even after closing Avg anti virus and the task killer, nothing works. And I don't see any contacts, when someone msges me I see the number even if I have them in my phone book. And if I add them manually to the contacts it won't update I just see their number. Even after fresh rom install I do not see the contacts, and reinstalling apps is not helping. Or wiping cache+dalvik. I don't know what the problem could be.

Yes I have an Google account that is synced with my device, everything is working fine. Except that apps like whatsapp, viber etc can't get to my contacts list.

did you already tried it to flashing the rom again..and after that just sync your contact from google..now just try it don't added it from your SIM

Hmm i did flashed the rom two times , and when setting up the google account it adds the contacts automatically , i have my contacts in sim / on sdcard and on my google account. Im now thinking to add it manually from the google account, even if i think i tried it already , well at least something like that . thanks

Messaging (SMS) & Contacts Conflicting?

Not sure if this should've been posted under Xperia Z5 or Android General forum, but here is goes: a friend got married and changed names. I went to update her entry under Contacts and so far so good. Easy job. Now here is the weird thing: Text messages under "Messages" are still showing her with her old name. I even tried completely deleting all texts and the contact entry under Contacts and recreating her entry. As soon as I texted her to test if it worked, her OLD name showed up under Messaging.
What is going on here? Kinda annoying and not sure if there is an rational explanation why this would happen.
Any feedback or ideas? Should some sort of cache be cleared?
This is for a Z5C with Marshmallow recently upgraded. Stock Firmware. Not rooted.

Go to the desktop page of Google contacts and ensure your changes are there too. And then force resync your Google account on your device.

Nope, this didnt work: first I don't use Google Contacts (phone only) but I did try to search for the entry under Google Contacts (maybe it syncs regardless, I thought) but the entry is not even listed there under Google.
This is definitely something local to the phone I think.

That's interesting, I imagine the local contacts just doesn't play well with its text message counterpart. Should be a z5 problem.
What if you switch to a 3rd party sms app, such as textra?

This is the issue that I encountered in many roms. I searched for it but could not find any solutions.
So in some roms, the whatsapp and mail are not syncing properly not at real-time atleast. In some roms only whatsapp is the problem and in other both whatsapp and mail (third party software and gmail) are the problem.
Only when I open whatsapp then the new messages appear. Same is the case for mail.
Does anyone have a solution to it?

In miui ROM go to security and auto start app.

In some ROMs(mainly miui), when you clear RAM, it force terminates all the processes. Unfortunately there's no fix for this, you need to run them manually again, or restart them yourself after clearing RAM.

Well what about non-miui roms, i have changed a number of roms because of this.

Gmail not pushing notifications

I'm new to Honor and EMUI and i'm having trouble with push notifications with Gmail, specifically that it seems to be completely broken and I only know i've recieved email when i manually unlock my phone and check. I've been all through the settings pages of Gmail and EMUI to make sure notifications are on and that Gmail is allowed to run in the background but so far i've not found anything that fixes the issue. It also seems that Gmail is a system process rather than an app so Gmail often doesn't show up in the various app lists for controling battery management/optimisations etc. I'm on EMUI 5 on my UK spec phone if that matters.
Anyone come across this before?

Yup, everything is up to date. There's doesn't seem to be any real logic to it either, sometimes an email notification will come straight through and then another email minutes later wont. I'm pretty sure it's doing for Facebook Messenger too.

Is your Play Services the latest version? Because it manages the GCM notifications that Gmail uses.

Having similar behaviour on AL10 version. All upto date but still sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Thats wiered on EMUI.

I've exempt Gmail from optimization, sync is all one, no data restrictions etc.
I definitely dont get notifications during deep sleep, they only came through this morning once i'd turned the screen on.

Actually, I haven't exempt it from optimization because Gmail doesn't even show up in the list, I think because it's seen as a system process rather than an app.
