For those with root and PR firmware.. - AT&T LG G4

I found the carrier related stuff in /cust/CLR_COM and i just deleted everything in there. Was that a bad idea?
The annoying bootanimation, and ringtones are gone. I can edit voicemail settings, can change to LTE (not sure if that was something else I did though), and everything seems to work just fine. It would seem that it makes the phone like the international model. Anyone have any insight, or has anyone else tried and know of the damages it may cause?
Edit: Have confirmation it doesn't break anything. Feel free to just rename the folder, reboot, and that's it. Or, if you're like me, banish it to oblivion.

I just renamed the CLR_COM folder and haven't noticed any issues yet.
Thanks!

All still going good for you guys?

No issues yet.
Now we know why the Claro boot animations kept sneaking back!

Just renamed it. Had a couple of apps crash. Did a reboot and all is good now and all of that Claro stuff is gone. Good find @mr.wizard

[Q] data stops working

I seem to be having a problem where my data connection stops working and I need to reboot the phone in order for it to start working again. I can still make calls and send sms but if I try to access the market on go on the internet for example, it doesn't work (even if I try wireless) I've tried different roms, different modems and the problem keeps coming back. Does this happen to anybody else? Does anybody know of a fix for this? It's as if the phone goes into a sleep mode and then won't fully wake up.

I've done odin, but have not done the sim. You really think the sim would do this?
Sim card will do it.

Thank you. Unfortunately, the xda app doesn't have a thanks button (it should). But now that I'm on here, everybody gets a thanks. The "people" got thanked twice because he complained.
thanks again for the help. As soon as I get a chance I'm passing by an ATT store to replace the sim, this is really annoying

Google Play Books & Movies

Seems the disabling Books and Movies in stock phone doesn't stick for me. Anyone else see this?

Yea, I have this issue. Also for some reason, one of my folder rearranges itself after reboot.

Yea I've had the same problem. Some people are able to freeze it but I've tried on my last s3 and this replacement one. It'll freeze then as soon as I restart there defrosted. Its weird.
Tap'n
Same problem here, I even tried disabling them on another non rooted phone.
I can't imagine any problems from uninstalling them, but I just got used to freezing them on reboot or just leaving them alone.
Glad I'm not the only one having this issue.

Hangouts app

Is anyone else having trouble with this app? It was working well for a little bit but now it someone sends me a message I won't receive it till like the next day. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

No problems on my end. It's my primary way of messaging people.

Hmm. Like it'll show me when the other person has seen the message, so I'll be expecting a reply back and it will show them typing and I'll get the message, but other times I won't receive the message for a while, or I have to sign out and then sign back in and it'll be there

I'm using hangouts as my primary and the same thing happens to me. I believe that it may have something to do with my extreme fluctuations in signal type/strength. I go from 4G to edge on a consistent basis b/c I work on a cell restricted location.
I use Hangouts as my primary communication method with my work and I've not had any issues with delayed or undelivered messages on this phone yet. I am on wifi for a majority of the day, but I get my messages when I'm away from wifi as well. I am in an area with pretty strong 4G signal, so perhaps arich2day is correct about there being an issue with jumping from no signal to good signal.
Well, most of the time I'm on Wifi and it still doesn't work right

Uninstalling and reinstalling from the play store?
Since it's a system app I actually haven't tried uninstalling it completely with Titanium Backup or anything. Maybe I'll give that a try

I just received a new OTA update notification but didnt go through with it. Any idea guys what this might be?
Knock Code?

My wife took it. She doesn't worry about rooting, etc. It's still 4.4.2, version went to 20u. Seemed very small. Must be minor fixes.

Hey, I was recently forced updated and my g2 is rooted. Ever since then I can't seem to play any games from the google store, not sure what else it's done haven't had time to check . All they do when click on there app is load for a couple of seconds then goes back to the home screen, I dont know if it has anything to do with the update but the were working fine before. Is it possible to uninstall those updates or am I screwed?

Carrier IQ removal

here is a step by step guide for removing carrier IQ, you will need root
download android tuner play store link
click on application manager
click / pivot to apps tab
click the button on the bottom that says user and it will change to system
longpress on android system
click open
click details
pivot to all the tabs and uncheck anything with carrier iq in it
uninstall (MAKE A BACKUP) LADDM.apk (it may be in system or user, check both)
remove lib files "libiq_client.so" and "libiq_service.so" from /system/lib (use a file explorer like root explorer with rw permissions)
install a ciq checker (voodoo's is good) and see if anything is left
presto!
credit to sn707 for making the original post, i just added the step by step for people new to removing ciq
Thanks for this. I got all the same info from a couple different sources... good to see it all in one place.
Nice! funny I never saw the Att specific forum. I spent a long while figuring this out so I would not mind a little credit but im glad the info is out there

what is this and is the benefit from removing?

This Is what it is. Whether you want to keep it or not is up to you (if you have root, that is).

the biggest benefit i had from removing it is stopping the useless processes from running and eating my battery life away. personally i don't really care about the data collection (that much) but the wakelock induced by it was driving me crazy.
it being so easy to remove (and to revert if you want to for warranty or ota purposes, so long as you back up whatever you remove) is also a pretty good reason to get rid of the spyware.
nice make sense. thats why my Android under battery keeps being like 5-6 hrs keep awake. nice!

I wish I would've seen that guide earlier. I have a G2 and removed the 2 /system/lib files first and I'm getting the nagging "diagandroid.iqd has stopped working" message.
Is there anything I can do now to gain access to my phone?
Thank you worked perfect
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Tried to do this and am now stuck in infinite boot loop.
In android tuner:
unchecked 4 references in Activ
unchecked 2 references in Receivers
unchecked 1 reference in services
In titanium backup:
Froze LADDM.apk
Rebooted, stuck in boot loop. Also doesn't look like the 855 methodology for recovering from boot loop works on the 850. Any ideas how to recover from this, or am I hosed?

You have to flash back to stock. I did the sane thing last week. There are files and instructions in either this thread or the generic g3 thread for what you need to do. It was an easy fix.

Fixed reboot loop. If anybody else ends up in boot loop, I followed the method here:

Flashing back to stock was the solution I resorted to. I'm back up and running now which is a relief. My question is why does this seem to happen in some cases and not for others when taking the exact steps outlined in the OP?

If you took the exact steps as in the op... I'm not sure. When I had your problem I had just gone in and disable those two files, rather than all of the files.
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
Went through the steps again and no bootloop this time. I am going to lean towards user error the first time, though I usually check things twice.
I actually managed to get everything running without flashing. Mind that I do have a G2, but CarrierIQ works very similarly on both the G2 and G3 as far as files/services are concerned. My problem was that I deleted the 2 files before disabling the apps/services themselves.
With a good bit of time and finger tapping, I was able to get the Disable Service app installed and was able to disable the CarrierIQ services. That removed the looping dialog box.
This might not work for everyone, especially on the G3, but it's worth considering if you deleted the files and rebooted without disabling the services and don't want to reflash.
Worked flawlessly for me. Thanks

Thank you! Worked like a charm!
