i set up my device with everything , set up application make installations , played with wifi and installed games tried games with no interuption,
and i noticed as i was playing a game after an hour or so that the device was getting crazy hot ...
i removed backplate and touched the metal where the sim card was in ... even hotter !!!
is it the same for you ? does it really get that hot ???
(i noticed that and i brought the phone back, couse when it was hot i get foce close and sound was gone, had to wait to cool down or restart the phone to get sound back. so i hope my second phone will arrive today)
Mine gets really hot at times too, I noticed it the other day when chatting on Facebook.
Someone else mentioned that it was due to the app constantly trying to update itself, but I've now installed a temperature app so I can get some details and actually ask HTC direct about it, although it's looking like this phone will have to go back at some point...
-Just so I can keep a record, it's been idling all morning bar an email or two and it's at 26.5 degrees at the moment. Nice and cool.
you will bring the phone back to get a new one too??
I haven't sent it back yet, but then that's because it's only happened once and I want to try to get some details to present to HTC so I can get their word on it.
i askted htc on it ...
they just say .... we understand that youre disappointed ... try these solutions to get rid of the problems you have. 1. make a soft reset 2. meke a hardreset !!
if this doesnt help send the phone back to us to get a new one
thats it
Don't worry about it, it's exactly the same for the Galaxy SII. These dual core CPUs are designed to run hot, they have to be with the limited space available and almost nothing in the way of heat dissipation. The Galaxy SII shuts itself off as a safety measure if it thinks it will be damaged by the heat (never happened to me though) and I'm sure the Sensation has a similar safety mechanism.
Ever since upgrading to Lollipop, my phone has become a huge pain in the ass.
Music will shut off randomly. I wonder if this is some kind of garbage cleaning behind the scenes, because Pandora/Music/Spotify will all just cut out at random.
The battery life is beyond awful. I can't last a normal workday anymore.
Performance sucks. Everything has a slight delay. Random freezes all over. Google play store takes absolute ages to get anything done.
I don't know. Am I alone?

Well...in my house I have a G3, M8 and Note 4 on Lollipop and do not see your issues. All the issues you mention seem to relate to transfer of data. Are you on wifi? Is the router going bad? Are you on LTE? how many bars? These all seem to be signal related issues, especially batter drain, not Lollipop.
My s5 is snappier since lollipop, all in all its better imho

I am in 100% agreement. Since the update, my phone (and my wife's GS5) is borderline unusable. It reboots randomly a few times a day, usually when I am actually relying on it for something. It is slow to do anything and the battery is just terrible now.
I know that many will say to do a factory reset (I already cleared the cache on both and it did nothing), but that is a huge pain for us due to our work email, which is painful to have cleared and add back on.

Well ... You could look at it like this: What is more painful to deal with? Random reboots, lag, and general unreliability? Or the investment in time it would take to wipe it clean and start from scratch? Maybe a corporate store could help you to transfer and set up what is really important to you if you need technical help or you don't really have the time to sink into it. Just a thought.
The ota uograde may cause a lot of these issues. A fresh install of lollipop either from stock odin image or a Sprint technician is recommended. The last if you're not comfortable saving/backing up your phone.
I would have to agree. I was stock unrooted and took the OTA update to OA6. My phone was not very stable and would sometime hang on a boot forcing a battery pull. I wiped everything and flashed the [STOCK ROM][5.0] OA6 Android L Deodexed and my phone has been great since then.

Yeah, that is kind of a good point. I just keep hoping that they will update or "fix" something that will make it magically work again so that I don't have to install my corporate crap again. Probably wishful thinking though.
Wish that I could be rooted like I used to be and just use Titanium Backup, but work killed our ability to root if we want to use our phone there (amazing that little trick they have used on us...they no longer pay for phones or service, but we have to abide by all their rules if we really want to work extra hours and go above and beyond for them...such suckers we are).
Bit of an update: I installed the OA6 Stock rooted rom and cleared all of Sprint and Samsung's god awful apps. The phone runs great now. I was going home with 7% battery life before, now it's 40-50% despite the exact same usage patterns.
I can't really say whether it was the factory reset that happened in the process, or the removal of all the bloat. I was so fed up with "HEY USE YOUR PHONE AS A REMOTE" and "CHECK OUT THESE AWESOME UPDATES FROM SPRINT" notifications that I didn't bother testing the phone before removing all the crap.
But anyway, anyone who is having problems...consider trying this. My knox is 0x0 btw, the mobile odin trick works.
I actually bit the bullet and did a factory reset. It was somewhat painful, but in the end, worth it. It is much better now. My only remaining problem seems to be an issue with Spotify...It eventually causes random reboots when playing music.
My side annoyance with the factory reset...Google needs to backup everything for us to do this. It was annoying to have some things done by Google, some by Samsung, and worse, some not done at all. The process could be done much better.
Hmm.. I agree with the lack of satisfaction with Lollipop. I have problems with bluetooth, slow system, crap battery life, random crashes, loss of features I liked on KitKat, etc. I did use a clean, stock image and ran it unrooted for a while, but still had problems. I just finished rolling back to KitKat and will wait for 5.0 to be more stable before trying it again (or until the S6 comes out)
I've noticed a lot of people complaining about screen lag recently, where everythings just dull and slow (not so much touch issues)- and unfortunately im one off them people!
My phone is the newer branch (november) and im starting to have a slow screen ever since oxygen! i've gone stock 11s n its seem to followed me!
but i really think its heat related, it will be fine for the most part, once it starts getting warm (recently its been getting hotter then normal) the screen goes dull.
THIS IS NOT GHOST TOUCH.
my screen doesnt press random things, the phone is just dull to type on and stuff but only when its hot/warm, and when i say hot, i mean hot..
but im not doing anything different to what i used to and it used to be okay, but then again........weathers getting hotter....
my nexus 4 was horrible when warm also......
currently on cm12 nightly, 06.04.15
tried stock 11s too but only lasted a few hours
If anybodys noticed this PLEASE say something, also if this issue is because my phone is 'defective', will i be able to send it to oneplus for a repair? wil it be worth it? will it be free? how long will it take (*roughly*)
sorry for all the questions and blabber, it's just i've been wondering A LOT and ive not been getting straight answers.
Ps. NEVER had issues BEFORE oxygen. oxygen was NOT on my phone for longer than a day due to the horrible keyboard issues, but the phone was really hot during oxygen......... thanks anyway, :good:
I have the same problem. It seems to happen when my phone has been warm-hot for 15-20 minutes. No ghost touches, but scrolling is really laggy, and sometimes it doesn't register a tap on a link or app. It seems to go away if I let my phone cool down. I've looked everywhere online, and I've seen a few people mention similar problems, but most of the time it's about the ghost touch thing. I really hope it's not a hardware issue. I can't go without a phone for a month and a half for the RMA. People seem to have a lot of issues with RMAs. I'm surprised there aren't more people having this issue.
Also, I'm not on oxygen. I'm having the issue on Euphoria 5.0.2.
I started having the exact same issue two weeks ago, and I did not even try oxygen os. I also bought the phone in november. I tried opening the phone and cleaning the connector but it didn't help at all... now I'm having the issue all the time, not only when the phone is hot and it feels like I have a $30 phone
I really don't know what to do since I opened the phone,so no RMA possible. I bought a Moto E and I'm gonna have to use it until I fix the issue. I dont even know if it's software or hardware, that's a really strange issue.
Edit : the touch screen just worked fine for 2 minutes, then became laggy again
Hi everyone,
I've always used iPhone but we switched to the Galaxy S6 a few weeks ago as I wanted to try android. The phone is fine but man it gets SO slow to the point I can barely use it. I'll be just doing normal things on it, or it will be sitting unused for awhile and I'll press the app switcher button and nothing happens. Wait 3 seconds and then it appears. Pick an app same thing nothing happens, then it appears. Or you swipe and it's laggy and slow. A friend said use clean master which when I run it always says freed 600MB of memory and then the problem seems to go away for another hour or so, but I'm constantly having to do this. My iPhone's were never slow at all and you never had to close programs. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but it's driving me crazy to the point I might return it.
The other issue is lots of times when I swipe to unlock, the phone unlocks but then will be running Spotify or Amazon, neither of which are on my homescreen or were running before. Clean master always says Amazon keeps restarting over and over giving my device a fever, but not sure what I can do about that.
Is there anything I should be doing or could do differently? I'm on the Samsung launcher, was on Google's for awhile but prefer Samsung's since it shows notification count, and I have the Google keyboard as well. It's not all the time, and it's not always debilitating like where it's full on frozen, it's more it just feels really slow. I had the Nexus 5 last year for maybe 2 months before switching back to iPhone but I never had this issue with it. I feel like the S6 is even slower than the Nexus 5 was to the point I'd almost rather use that phone, but I feel like this is ridiculous since I paid $250 for the Nexus 5 and the S6 was $750 so you'd expect it would run better!
Don't know what to tell you but to try a factory reset. I've had my phone for two months now and it's been blazing fast the whole time.

My S6 is damn fast, real you should try factory reset.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro
Buy this app and disable all unused or unwanted things to free up memory. It should help you a lot.
Does it back up all my info when I do that or is it like starting over? Not a huge deal I guess but yeah maybe I'll try it. Like for example sometimes I'll press home to turn on the screen, but I'll I guess accidentally press it twice so it goes to the camera. That's fine, but then I'll press home again, or back, and like nothing happens it just stays on the camera, not frozen like the image is updating live, then a second or two later it will go back to the home screen. Or I'll swipe to unlock on the lock screen, it does the bubble effect and nothing happens. I wait a sec swipe again, does the bubble as well, except it unlocks before I fully finish swiping, as in it was in the process of unlocking and I was just doing it twice.
One quick thing also, do you guys use Clean Master? It seems like it's required as it clears lots of ram and then the phone immediately speeds up. Then I read somewhere that it's better to let the phone manage ram and not this app, but I feel like the phone doesn't do a good job of it, unless having the app installed is preventing the phone from doing it itself? Maybe I'll try without it when I reset it.

Well, that might be a key to solving your problem. Before Reset try first just to uninstall that "garbage" of app. It may solve your problem right away. I had some friends that also have that app installed and also problem with slow phone. Just uninstall of Clean Master solve that.
Let us know what happened.
Well that's the trade off between android and iPhone at the moment probably. iPhone may require less tweaking and trail and testing and how a phone can work.

Clean Master is real good to clean junk files or temp files but for the memory part, plz buy the Package Disabler Pro as this is the only one real works now on S6.
I believe Samsung got PC software to backup your data on Windows.
If you do factory reset and no use then it's safe to guess your phone got hardware problem and you should ask for a replacement.
Question though, where did you buy the phone? Are you 100% sure its an authentic galaxy s6? I came across a similar thing but its with the iPhone, a friend of mine was complaining about having drop calls with his iphone 6, I decided to play around with his iPhone 6 and was wondering why it was hella slow and lags a lot, I use iOS a lot(iPad, iPod Touch, and previous iPhones) and i know it should't lag especially a new version of the iphone, and also noticed somethings are off like the apple logo, screen resoluton, etc. After 2 min, I realized its a fake iPhone6 than runs an iOS skinned android, I was actually amazed how well it was made for a clone. If factory reset didn't help, then it's probably hardware defective or its fake.
Depending how long you've had it can you take it into the shop you got it from, show them the problems and get a replacement?
Mine is pretty much super quick, although I do use Nova Launcher Prime as my launcher, and Tesla Unread to show unread notifications for apps, and it is much quicker than the Samsung Launcher and a lot more customisable.
Also I have noticed some themes can slow the phone down immensely so unless you really want to customise the phone leave it on the default theme. (Nova Launcher Icons and different wallpapers don't slow anything down).
Also the Smart Manager on the phone, helps to keep the recent apps menu working nice and quick as it can slow down to the point that pressing it takes .5 of a second for the recent apps to show up.
Lastly, the S6 is notorious for faulty home buttons, so weird home button behaviour could be a slightly faulty button.

I second that. You can use the following ways to confirm by downloading Antutu Officer from Google Play.

Thanks everyone, it should be authentic I bought it from Rogers directly, not a dealer store but actual corporate one and we bought 2 at the same time. I did a factory reset last night and it's WAY faster now. I didn't put Clean Master on it yet just been using it as is but been great so far. I didn't put all my apps back on, just the ones I use, where as last time I'd just put on everything even if I seldom use it, so will try to add them slowly. CM was always saying before that Amazon was giving my phone a fever, restarting 50 times in the past 15 minutes type thing, even though I use that app constantly. Thanks!

There is something wrong with your software. I have been using my phone for about a month. No issues here.
Yep there is something wrong with your device. I always try to do speed test whenever I gets a chance to have my friend's i6 on my hand. With 250+ apps and 3gigs out of 32 free I can say that s6 opens apps a second faster than i6. There's some scroll lag on chrome but I fixed it with tweaking flags on chrome. If any app lags on this on this device then it's the result of poor coding.

How is the phone so far?
Hi, So finally Android 5.1.1 came out and it came as a surprise. I didn't expect Sprint to release it so soon even though it need to happen right away. What is everyones first impressions? Anyone notice a big performance and stablity increase?
PRIOR to the update:
-I've been having an immense amount of Lag and my s6 edge kept heating up.... VERY Annoying... I also had launcher redraws where when you click the home button it has to reload the whole launcher again. (All PRIOR to the update).
AFTER the 5.1.1 Update:
-So far it my device is running very smooth and cool... Its only been a few hours so I hope it stays that way. I don't have any launcher redraws so far and no real noticeable lag. No idea if memory bug has been fixed, anyone know? Most say it isn't. My main question to everyone is wether the update has made their device more smooth and stable and has fixed the performance issues or not. I've only been updated a few hours so I wanted to know if my device will stay the same like this rather than revert to its laggyness like it does every time after being smooth from a factory reset.
Benchmark
I installed it yesterday, had a worse battery life than what I've gotten used to..
My phones back to heating up... Ive also setup to send in my edge ti samsung for repair... it lags, gets hot and has a black dot on the camera lense... and I have to wait 11 days to get the phone back...if I want a phone...i have to rent one from sprint for 50 bucks....this beyond rediculous
i'm curious if our phones heat up cause of the ****ty LTE network signal and the phone constantly looking to hold a connection.

This is the correct answer to the question, The only times my phone gets remotely even warm is when charging and when in a sketchy signal area
