[MOD] Increase speaker volume :) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

pretty simple mod, I hate how the ringtone and playback volume are not loud enough, so I changed it
MUST HAVE ROOT.
1.Navigate to /system/etc
2.look for mixer_gain.xml, open it up with some type of editors
3. change the value to 26 and 36 for playback speaker (max before running into too much distortion)
4. do the same for ringtone speaker, but I put 37, just a level higher than playback.
5.save the editor (root explorer will make a back up for you)
6.make sure the file correction are RW-R-R-- (I dont think it would changes but it doesnt hurt to check)
7. reboot
8. give me a thanks

Yes, I'd like to know if anyone has had success increasing the phone volume. Mixer_paths no longer contains the hack I used on my note 4 and when I edited other values in mixer_gain my phone locked up and I had a hell of a time (my fault really ) getting back where I was. Any help would be appreciated.

Download a stock mixer gain and adb push it to that directory. What did you change?
If you don't know how to adb then just go into recovery and dirty flash, hopefully that will work. If not clean flash

'll give the abd a try. I clean flashed, then found out how to turn off a boot loop phone - hold all buttons, for anyone who hasn't discovered that yet.
Thanks for your reply, it was much appreciated.

works great.

wow this worked perfect thank you so much !!!!!

Make sure you have followed the terminal emulator way properly, and your system needs to be in R/W mode. Try testing it, by someone calling you and accept. If you have in-call touch buttons in the dialer, it has succesfully worked.
Great job but doesn't quite come out as expected.

This modification increments the media volume steps from 15 to 30 so you have more precise control of the media volume levels.
Modification is done in framework.jar.

If you don't want to fiddle with this, I discovered the problem with too big "steps" in volume can be fixed by adding a replay gain. So that your normal listening volume isn't at step say 2-4 or so but at around 8-12 (there are 16). This way the steps become smaller and it's easier to get the volume just right.
The DSPmanager of CM should be able to do this, or any other EQ.

Hi,
I think the sourcecode hack can be found here:
https://github.com/one-love-420/and...8b9#diff-2f0fcc03faf02170ab9fb9cbbc75d52dR164
I found that patch by digging through the original threads regarding this hack.
In Quarx git this patch seems not to be included:

Always disable/mute external speakers SCH-i705

Attempting to set my speakers to always be muted/disabled on my Galaxy Tab 2 (sch-i705)
Anyone know what I can target at the ROM level? I'm building off of latest release, MI1, if that makes a difference. Also happy to attempt this via an app, but I haven't found anything that looks promising.
I still want headphones to work, but external speakers I want to be always disabled.

Is there a module or .so file that controls just the speakers that I could disable?
If you are rooted you should be able to pull apart some files and search for a way using a root exporer like es file or similar.
Unfortunately I don't know which file.
A good place to start looking is at any volume boot mod files. I know one exists for the p31xx models running stock (and possibly aosp) roms

Thanks for the tip, I'll start there. Why would boot mod files control the speakers? Haven't really done a whole lot of ROM dev, so I'm trying to sort out the general structure.
If anyone else knows a specific file to target, let me know.. In the meantime I'll start hacking around.

This is in the espressoWiFi boost (espresso WiFi is for p3110/3113 devices) zip and looks promising.
I'm not on stock but I'll see if augmenting this does anything later tonight or tomorrow.

DSPManager on Stock LG G3

Hi everyone,
For those who are interested of having DSP Manager working on your LG G3, here you have it.
I have pulled the latest DSPManager from the build dated on the 7th September. The audio effects configuration has been adjusted to work with our devices. As far as i know, it works fine on my device (D855), and tested on 10i and 10j.
I suggest you backing up the audio_effects.conf before proceeding the steps below. You're on your own if this breaks your phone, as I only know that this works on my phone and make no promises that it won't brick yours or burn down your apartment etc.
Requirements
A File explorer which able to change permissions (Root Explorer or ES File Explorer?)
Your Rooted G3
Steps
Download the files below and copy them into your device
Copy DSPManager.apk, audio_effects.conf, and libcyanogen-dsp.so into your /system dir
Then change your permissions of those 3 files to chmod 644 (screenshot below to see how it looks like)
Then move DSPManager.apk to /system/app directory
Then for audio_effects.conf, it will be in /system/etc directory
For libcyanogen-dsp.so, it will be in /system/lib/soundfx
Once all of those 3 files be in the correct directory, reboot your device
Bam! There you go, you are done

Question of which is better DSP or VIPER?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Almost works. If I enable any thing it chops the music up. On a 855
Search cm apps on Google playstore.. No root needed. Works fine on my g3
You can pick any App listed in that app

I can't get dsp to change anything. I've tried both the cm app in playstore and this method. The only thing that will change eq so far is the music app.

[Z5Premium] [SoundBoost]

Before Doing This Please Note: I Am Not Responsible For Your Actions, Do It With Your Own Risk . This xml File Is Modified On Sony XPERIA Z5 Premium Dual E6833 Running Android M 6.0.1
Hello Everyone.Since I Have Purchased Sony Xperia Z5 Premium I Realized That It's Amazing SmartPhone But Only Thing I Didn't Like Is Sony's Over Protective Audio System , Like Other Sony Waterproof/Dustproof Devices Sony Is Being Protectful And Creating Speakers With Low Volume (Not So Low Like You Can't Even Hear But Still Compared To Many Brand New Devices). I Don't Know About You But When I Have Headphones In My Ears I Don't Really Want To Hear Other Voices But I Actually Do With This Phone And With My Old Phone XPERIA Z1 Too. So I've Modified Files Which Requires ROOT ACCESS To Do , Called mixer_paths.xml . Many People Should Know About This XML File But If You Don't It's Actually Base File Of Sound Of Your Phone. So I Modified This File And My Sound Is Really Loud And Awesome Now. I Will Also Provide Original And Modified XML Files For You And To Replace Original File With My Modified One You Need To Have ES File Explorer (Or Other File Manager Which Can Access/Modify System Files) And You Need To Go To : device\system\etc And Replace My Modified XML File. Sound Is Greatly Adjusted And It's Recomended If You Won't Adjust Is More For Safety Of Your Speaker/Headphone . So , After Replacing Original mixer_paths.xml With My Modified One You Need To Reboot Your Device But Please Look At Screenshots First If You Still Want To Modify (Adjust Or Lower) Sound I Provided Images Are Below,Make Sure You Set "system" and "/" to R/W In ES File Explorer Click "Root Explorer" Once You Have Activated It And Granted Root Access And Select Mount R/W , Image Of Configuration Will Be Below In Screenshots Too.
If I Helped And "Mod" Works For You , Click THANKS Button P.S : It's Free

Alright , Long Story Short Is - I've Modified mixer_paths.xml system file to adjust Speaker/Headphones sound and to do it download my modified file from attachment and move it to system/etc and replace original one , if anything goes wrong there is original attachment too in this Post too, after replacing reboot your device , i recommend that you should not change values more than i did it because it's really loud enough
what is the difference between your modified xml and the one mentioned in this post?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5...lume-boost-headphones-boost-soundmod-t3261194
and is that possible to add your modified one again? if i have replaced it before with the other modified one cause i have done it before by the guide that explained in the link i added
