Screen extra sensitive - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any fix for this? This so far has been my main annoyance with this phone. Happens on both my parents Galaxy S5 running Lollipop as well.
Examples: Scrolling through settings is bouncy same for webpages which is just awful.
Then the worst is the Notification panel, Its so bad that I'll scroll down and the panel goes right back up.
Any suggestions for this?

S-Pen requires an extra press?

Hi guys,
Im coming from a Galaxy note. Ive noticed that S-Pen on Note 10.1 requires some pressing to register an input either it is navigating through the UI or writing. It wasn't like that in Note. I have also noticed that scrolling, if done with s-Pen, is quite laggy and it stutters.
Has anyone else been experiencing the same?
Nope, no issues here. Could maybe be a screen protector issue or pressing the button before the pen is close enough to the screen to register. Turn on the hover for the pen in your settings to make sure the pen is close enough.

I have not applied any screen protector yet.
Hover is already turned on.
The point is that scrolling and navigating the UI is not smooth if done with S-Pen. It has to be pressed quite hard. In case of finger, even a slight touch gets registered. At least that's how I feel.
Just try scrolling / navigating with S-Pen using the slightest of pressure possible.
Another thing! You cant quite flick the screen for scrolling with s-pen like you can with your finger which is bcoz of the same issue i.e., s-Pen requiring extra pressure.

Although I have no issues with scrolling with pen and it just takes a medium to light touch, I prefer to hold the pen in hand and use the little finger to flick to scroll. It feels more natural that way and is probably less wear and tear on the screen.
Try replacing your tip with the completely white one. That might help.

Replaced the black one with the white and situation is really somewhat better. White one is the same as the one I had on my N7000. Black one is more of a sticky nature; i couldn't write fastly with it and scrolling was laggier too. Now it is quite ok.
Thanks!

Screen keeps turning off

I recently bought a Galaxy Note Pro, and have a weird issue. The screen keeps turning off (just like if I had pressed the power button) for no apparent reason. Has anyone else else encountered this?
I have an inkling that it may be due to false detection of my book cover closing, but I cannot find a way to turn this detection off.
Some book covers will trigger magnet sensor when the cover is flipped to the back of the tablet. There's no way that I know of to turn off the feature entirely.

Yeah, I have that issue, mainly caused when the cover is folded back and I lie the tablet flat.

Isn't that the way you're supposed to use the book covers? It would seem that this is a huge design flaw.
edit: "Good" to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Not so great if there is no fix for it, though.
So which book cover is doing this? My WAWO Smart Fold Shell (which is also sold under various other brand names) does not exhibit this behavior.

if you are rooted i believe there is an xposed module which will turn this feature off. and also under general, accessary settings- i believe there is a setting..

I haven't rooted it, and I'd rather not. There are some settings under General -> Accessory that pertain to book covers, but nothing like disabling the detection.

These are the available settings.
FWIW I tried the Xposed module called MagnetOff (currently version 1.6 dated 3/12/2014) and disabling magnet has no effect on smartcover usage on the 12.2 .
I don't see magnet settings in Wanam so I'm not sure what other module to try.
I'm just thankful that I don't have this issue with my case.
Has anyone tried to physically remove the magnet from a book cover? I think I may have identified where the magnet that is used for detection is located, but I'm sort of apprehensive about trying to dig it out without destroying the cover.

I had a Note 10 2014 for testing some weeks ago, basically the same cover for it without any problems (Ivso slim cover), so I basically wonder what problem the Note 12.2 actually has with the cover.
In your case, does it coincide with your hardware buttons (menu, middle, menu button) not being responsive anymore? Once I remove the case from the lower back a bit, they are working again.
Thanks in advance

Yes, sometimes they stop working, but I don't think it always happens.
I realized its the book cover from samsung too. When its laid flat its cause lots of problem the screen will turn off and the tablet will remain unresponsive even if u turn the screen back on with power button. Haiz alot of problems encountered just in a week of using this tablet. Spent quite an amount of money on this device but its giving me so much trouble. After I realized its the book cover. I never laid it flat with the flap behind the tablet anymore. But when I using it in a "stand-mode" while watching a youtube video it happened again I downloaded apps that keep screens on, but they aren't working either. The screen will randomly turn off when I am watching the videos.
I too have the same issue. I try using it without the case for a bit to see how it does but without the case I feel pretty nervous using it.

It's unfortunate that a Samsung branded case is causing the issue. The generic case that I'm using doesn't do these things.
It does appear to be the Samsung case. I've been using my Logitech case for the past couple hours and I cannot get the screen to turn off on its own at all. A quick change back to the Samsung case and within 2 minutes the screen went blank.
VERY pathetic Samsung.

Worst part is, I almost took the Pro back due to it just shutting off or becoming unresponsive. I've had zero issues since changing cases, but when I put the Samsung case back on all the issues come back. I have 2 cheap cases with the magnets in them and neither gives my Note issues.

Skinomi installation - did I mess up the edge screen/panel?

http://youtu.be/G9ucyER8lp8
This is my fiancée's phone and I installed the screen protector last night. I followed the instructions: spray a thin layer of the solution and avoid getting liquid near the speakers/holes. I used her blow dryer on the lowest setting to speed up the curing process.
I've installed several "wet" screen protectors in the past so I at least have an idea at what I'm doing.
Prior to installing the screen protector, the Yahoo Sports ticker was able to scroll through her favorite teams. Now, it looks like it's constantly trying to refresh the feed (swipe down on the edge screen). It also happens with the Yahoo Finance and News panels as they scroll through the feed.
This does not affect any of the other panels as I can scroll through the "Favorite Apps" panel without it acting up. The camera controls on the edge panel works.
I'll give it a few days for the screen protector to fully cure/dry to see if it makes any difference. If not, I'll see what AT&T can do since I got insurance for our phones.
I have the same screen protector ready to install on my phone. Besides the issue you mentioned, how does it look and fit?
Is there anything under the protector?
And you sure you got all the water out?
When I did mines there was alot of water in the spend slot.
I ended up taking the phone apart and blow dry the whole thing for 20 mins then put it back together and no problems.

I have it on my Edge, looks and fits perfect. I don't like the feel, it feels like plastic. But tempered glass is what I would love, but with the curved screen, that probably won't happen. [emoji25]

It's fixed! It wasn't from the screen protector installation after all...
I force closed Touchwiz and apps that had the word "panel" in them. I'm thinking "Live UX Panel" is the culprit since that was the last thing I force closed.
The weird thing is that rebooting the phone numerous times when the error first appeared didn't fix it.
It's safe to say I'll never do another wet screen protector install for this phone just in case I ever do **** up.

Reboots don't always close put the apps.
I know it's weird but most of the time the apps get dump into flash memory and then are back running on reboot.

Would this keep you from buying another Samsung?

I recently noticed this strange blemish around the home button of my GS5 Dev. Edition. The phone has never been dropped in the water and when I clean the screen with eyeglass cleaner or alcohol you can't see the blemish. Once you get some oil from your hands on the screen it becomes visible again.
Samsung wasn't much help when I called them about it and were going to make me pay to fix it. The phone is only about 6mo old.
I really want to buy a Note 4, but I feel bad giving them repeat business when I've never abused this phone and clearly there is something wrong with the screen and they want me to pay to fix it
What would you do in my position?
if you're using a screen protector, i suggest you change it, because with use, the area eroded and subsequently of a different texture than the rest. My HTC One has such a mark on the Home button, which is invisible usually, but with oily hands, is visible.

So it disappears when you clean it? Almost sounds like an issue with the oleophobic coating. (It's an oil-rejecting coating applied in the factory that wears off after a few months. You can buy it to apply yourself as well)
I've seen several thousand Samsung devices, but never this issue.
A screen protector should solve the issue if that is the case. That way residue from your fingers doesn't end up on the actual screen.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 2
I have a Note 4 and have not seen this before. Perhaps it's an issue with the coating as mentioned above.
