Hey guys, long time reader and first time poster. I have One X that I upgraded the firmware to 1.85 RUU. The bootloader is unlocked and rooted. Im trying to downgrade my firmware back to 182 but after I relock the bootloader and reboot the phone to run the 1.82 RUU, it wont get past the Hboot screen. The only way I can get the phone to work properly is to unlock the bootloader again. Any help would be greatly apperciated!!

Run the ruu from the bootloader or hboot screen. Should fix u up when downgrading I think you have to run from bootloader.. Are you supercid?
You need to run the ruu from the bootloader. You should be ok. You need to be in fastboot.

This is not a problem, it is perfectly normal. When you relock the bootloader you have to flash a RUU. You guys should know this before you mess with anything. Why can't you flash a RUU? Are you sure you are trying the correct one? And why did you even try to mess with it with a low battery?

Well I unlocked my bootloader no problem, then i tried to flash a recovery to which i get the messages okay. After that I tried to boot into recovery via cmd with the command adb reboot recovery which worked and my device turned off, turned back on and for a split second had some red text under the HTC logo and immediatly started back up. I then tried to go to bootloader which I did via cmd and adb reboot Bootloader, and now above unlocked it says tempered. Please help me out with what I should do. Also there is no recovery option available. I was trying to flash TWRP.
The red text just tells you you're on an unlocked bootloader. And the tampered stamp stays there for all eternity after you've unlocked the bootloader.
Anyway you have nothing to worry about. It's just what happens when you unlock the bootloader.

Thank you sir just got into recovery I was really worried!
You CAN get rid of the tampered flag by relocking the bootloader and running a ruu. But your bootloader will say relocked in bright red still so it wouldnt matter. Just sayin'..
Yea no point of that

No one knows of a way to get rid of the "re-lock" and have it just say locked?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that if you re-lock and run RUU, it changes back to original "Locked" state...

I'm pretty sure it stays as "Relocked" even with an RUU
You can only change that with S-OFF

i relocked the bootloader on my phone and after it got relocked my phone just boots into bootloader mode and nothing else. anyone know how to fix this ?
have you tried clicking reboot in bootloader?
yes i did and power off and still just reboots to bootloader
im going to install 1.85 into the phone hopefully will make my phone boot up and not to bootloader
doin what i did worked like a charm phone is backk to stock and works like out of the box. in case someone else has the same problem this might help
I had the same issue but I couldn't get it to work by just running the 1.85 ruu. It just got stuck in bootloader even after I ran the ruu. I could only get out after re-unlocking. My base was 1.73 and I was trying to ruu to 1.85 from clean rom 4.5.

Hi all, im looking for a bit of help in recovering my orange uk one s. I had unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed cwm mod recovery without any problems.
I decided i wanted to do the ota 4.04 update which is where my problems started. I read that you needed to restore stock recovery and relock the bootloader to do this, which i did and now the phone wont boot
I can access the bootloader and recovery ok and can unlock and relock the bootloader ok. I still have the original cwm back up i made when i first rooted the phone, have tried to restore this without any joy.
There doesent seem to be a an orange uk ruu out there which would be the easiest way to recover the phone and im presuming i need the phone up and running properly to change to super cid to install a general ruu.
Does anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions to help me restore my phone ?
I know this has been posted before but i have spent the last two days going round in circles trying to fix this, any help greatly appreciated

boot into bootloader
unlock bootloader if you haven't alredy unlocked it
install twrp recovery (because its better than CWM with S-ON)
change your CID to Super CID or a Generic one like "HTC_001"
install stock recovery
relock bootloader
Install European RUU.
It's not bricked if you can get into the bootloader or if the screen turns on.
A brick is what it says, the screen doesn't turn on, nothing works, not the bootloader, not recovery, nothing.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I got sorted this afternoon (I posted this in another thread) using that method. for some reason i couldnt get into adb shell before installing twrp. Wverything all up and running again.
OK, tried to root my HTC One X, got the HTCDev unlock, but could never get an S-OFF on 5.18 firmware. Did have a CID unlock, so set it back to OEM Relock, and have tried to RUU the exact firmware back. It says its sucsessful but get a loop condition, White HTC, then a strange black screen, when I get back to Bootloader and tried again, same result. Any ideas, attached are pic. of strange screen and Bootloader

What were you trying to do in the first place? When you say CID unlock do you mean bootloader unlock? I think you're a bit confused about what you've been doing. Why did you relock the bootloader? What is your CID currently? Do not attempt to run the RUU again until we can confirm what your CID is, you could brick your phone.
Sent from a crappy Samsung because my Evita died
Confirmed CID is showing all 11111111, bootloader screen now says ***TAMPERED*** then ***UNLOCKED*** and still has S-ON, and this was a 5.18, which I think was my mistake for trying. Cannot run RUU utility, it wont complete, can get into TWRP recovery 2.6.0.0 but not able to flash, or anything. At this time would love to be able to just flash back to my stock.
Flash a Sense ROM, get s-off, run the RUU.

THANKS! That did the trick, I knew I was close, but thought I had to get S-OFF before a flash of ROM.
