How to root LG G Stylo Cricket? - LG G Stylo Questions & Answers

So I got a LG G Stylo from the cricket store and I tried rooting it several times, but to no luck. I was wondering if anyone has a rooting method for an LG G Stylo from cricket, and if not, is anyone currently working on it?
(The LG G Stylos is new to Cricket I think)
Thank you.

What rooting method did you use? Did you try Kingroot?

It is. They don't appear to be selling though, at least according to the Cricket stores I frequent.
As for root...I wish I knew what to tell you. Not enough people have this phone apparently to discover a root exploit. I suspect what a lot of Cricket users do is bring unlocked phones to Cricket instead of buying Cricket-branded phones like the H634.
If root is that important to you (I know it is to me), is it too late to return it for another phone?

you can try the one click method for 5.1.1 or my manual method you just have to have a Windows computer no linux or Mac

I think you meant to reply to CyberVgamer, not me. I don't have the phone, I was just trying to offer suggestions to help him.
But now I'm curious. If your root method (that's your root method in your signature, right?) works on the Tmobile/MetorPCS variants, and if it works here (depending on if CyberVgamer uses your method otherwise we won't know), that means there's little difference between the models.
I was wondering where to put this, but why not here:
I wanted to unlock the Tmobile version, since its far more powerful than the Cricket version. But Tmobile blocks the unlock menu and forces you to use their proprietary unlocking app. Sites claim to unlock it using Tmobile's very own unlocking ap, but I'm skeptical.
I saw someone on another forum (or was it here? ) who unlocked the phone as it was intended (waited however many days is required), and once its unlocked the app goes away. Well he had to wipe the phone for whatever reason, and the app came right back. He simply opened it, requested the unlock again, and the app went away again. But that told me that app is baked into the rom.
Soooo playing a hunch I went to a Cricket store and input the code to pull up the unlock menu on LG devices on their version of the G Stylo, the H634. Voila, came right up. Apparently if you try this on the H631 either it won't come up or some nag screen about calling Tmobile customer service will come out, I don't know.
My point? I was going to ask in the H/MS631 root thread if its possible to install the Cricket firmware onto the Tmobile variant. Basically take the stock rom of the H634 and install it via twrp onto the H631. I say was cause when I thought about it, I thought the only thing that could happen was a BRICK since even though its practically the same phone, SOMETHING must be different to prevent this. But if the same root method can possibly be used, now I wonder.

last time someone wanted to Root this device (Cricket variant) we ask him if there was a KDZ available just to be in the safe side in case you try to Root using any root method , b'cuz you may end up with Root or with a soft-brick device, so keep that in mind.

Hey just wondering what your reason for root is? I have a stylo as well and the only reason I wanna root is to fix my "system data" problem where my phone occupies itself with memory on it's own? You or anyone else having this problem?

Just mostly out of curiosity, but I also like the idea of actually owning my phone, instead of not having access to parts of it.

Something is happening with mine I moved every app I could to SD and constantly get oom can't retrieve messages etc. I hope someone finds a root solution soon
Sent from my LG-H634 using XDA Free mobile app

Main reason i need root because of lack of memory. I like to use link2sd and ad block.

This method also fails on LG G Stylo on the Fido network. It doesn't look like the files get uploaded as the folder doesn't even get created

Cricket stylo gets no love...

Well hey let's look at it optimistically, the amount of requests on king root has just about quadrupedal since i posted about the phone : D

[Q] Verizon Prepaid Moto G Rooted

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I had given up on Moto G as a potential root on Verizon Prepaid, but then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52717219
If it has, what guide would I use? If not, any suggestions for a rootable on Verizon Prepaid?
If you need Verizon prepaid, look into Page Plus, at www.pagepluscellular.com because they are prepaid on Verizon's network. The Boost Mobile Moto G is rootable and can be made to work on Page Plus.

Let me just add a comment here if I may.
I have a Boost MOTOG flashed to use Pageplus. Version 4.4.2
Although I have unlocked the bootloader and installed the SUPERSU via recovery, the phone will not root. No error messages or anything but if you try to use any app that needs root, it will not work.
It has something to do with Verizon & 4.4.2 version.

Yea, I'm getting mixed feedback. I appreciate the suggestion with Pageplus and still trying to look into it. The guys over at rootandroid told me they can't root the G on Verizon Prepaid. I really don't want to be on the "bleeding edge" as an amateur. Still looking for a proven method, or an alternative phone...

I have a Boost Moto G flashed to PP, on 4.4.2, and root works just fine for me. Running xposed like a champ. Titanium backup worked for removing needless apps, too. I used the superboot method.

I am seriously considering buying a Verizon prepaid Moto G, but this root issue may be a deal breaker for me. Why so much of a problem with rooting this phone. I know the bootloader is locked, but I have had phones that were locked but I was still able to root them. What's with the Moto G?

Going down the Pageplus road, but first another question. Is there another MVNO you might recommend other than Pageplus that's prepaid and on the Verizon net?
The reason is, I got pushback from Pageplus when I mentioned the G. Claim their dealers can't handle it. In addition they claim Verizon is blocking the G because it is a prepaid device.
In short it must be a 3g or backwards compatible to 3g device, nonprepaid and a Verizon contract phone.
I've found 3 PP dealers in the area, might see how far I get with the G or other best option they have. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking another MVNO...

I use Page Plus, so I don't know any other MVNOs. They are correct about the Moto G, Verizon blocks their Moto G for at least 6 months. If you flash a Boost G, their imeis aren't registered on Verizon, so they come up fine. Dealers won't know this, but you can set yourself up on the Page Plus website. Kitty Wireless, a Page Plus dealer, offers free ESN checks to make sure you can use a phone with them. Kitty is all online, though.
Edit: I should specify, my wife has the Boost G on PP, I set it up. Bought a Verizon G before I knew about the locked bootloader and Boost flashing. When the Verizon G can be used on PP, we'll be trading phones.

moto g xt 1031 update error

hello guys,
i have purchased 2 moto g's from flipkart and other is of reliance communications(r-com e-shop INDIA).
i am facing problem on the update one.
it's the cdma one from r-com e-shop INDIA.
model no-xt1031.
variant-8GB
i ordered the phone from r-com e-shop,
when i received the phone i noticed that the phone was from us and it was rooted with boot loader unlocked.
the phone is non sim based.
the phone was from boost mobile.
i went to reliance showroom for activation,
and there they created a mess from which i am irritated till now.
they took 2 days to activate my phone, which could be done in couple of minutes.
they gave me a reason saying they are not getting some 4 digit pin to activate.
the second day after receiving it i again went and sat there for 2 to 3 hrs doing nothing just seeing their st***d faces.
i was again irritated. then finally they activated and gave me.
that was the story of my moto g cdma one.
now the problem i am facing is to update that one.
the phone pops up a message it has got an update,
when i try to download it it downloads but it won't install.
it shows an error saying that the update could not be validated please try again.
could someone help me out in fixing the issue please.
thanks and regards

Yes the data will be erased. Please back up your data
The network coverage will be the same as the original rom, after all both are stock
You'll need to have the boost modem part

If you have your phone paid off and/or have had service for a few months, you should be able to get the unlock code and instructions from TMo. They provided me with the aforementioned info without any pushback. Just call their support number or hop on chat and they will help you out. Also it's free

Oh I have never seen such a warning.
Try renaming the image and booting.
Hey guys,
I know this isn't really the place to ask but I've searched the forums here as well as Google searched to no avail.. So I figured it was worth a shot asking here.
My father bought the THL Knight 2 online from China recently and is having issues making and receiving calls. Oddly though, sending and receiving texts works well without issues.
We've tried using 4 different SIM cards from 4 other carriers with the same result. (Canada - Bell, Rogers, Koodo, and Freedom Mobile)
With that being said, I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there was a solution?
Would rooting the phone make a difference?

Hey guys,
I know this isn't really the place to ask but I've searched the forums here as well as Google searched to no avail.. So I figured it was worth a shot asking here.

Routing alone might not help you.
Wrong version firmware

If you bought from China shop , you had most likely bought a device with a Chinese firmware and/or hardware. The China man normally would not advise you on this risk, they just want to close the deal. Let look at a few details, (I am more versed in MTK SoC, therefore I will give examples from MTK experiences but it is applicable to all models).
I bought 2 pieces of Lenovo Tab a8-50Hx from 2 different source at 2 different time. One was bought with local manufacturer warranty and the other was bought with shop warranty. For Lenovo the firmware is separated into ROW (Rest of the World) and CN (China only) versions. Because the telephone modem (hardware) operates on different band in China.
Coming back to my experience 3 of my Lenovo models are hardware compatible with ROW firmware and one of the Tab A8-50 was using a bastardised China firmware so , I couldnt use my 3G SIM on that device but after careful inspection the board (hardware) part number was the same with my orginal ROW version, so all I had to do is to reflash my ROW firmware over the "bastardised" China firmware and it works perfectly.
However there are devices that are manufactured for PRC market only and not sold elsewhere. These models have their GSM/CDMA/LTE modems that caters to their local market (hardware) and if you try to reflash a stock ROW version firmware on these would at best result in a dead telephone function, no 3G/4G ,no SMS, clls or worst case scenario your device will fail to boot up.
But I believe the Knight 2 uses the same hardware. Please check the box for details, WARNING please check the part number for your device versus the localised (sold by your THL country distributor) part number on the box. If everything is OK you can try to reflash the ROW firmware. (http://en.thl.com.cn/SupportDetails.aspx?id=492) but DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! If the hardware is the same your US/Canada SIM should work but recommended are AT&T, T-Mobile or their affiliates.
If trying to root I suggest using "Kingroot" + Busybox

How can i root my Galaxy S6 SM-G920A?

Hey guys, I'm new to rooting. The wondershare Root tool didn't work for me. I have a feeling it doesn't work for my model, and looked through the forums here but am very overwhelmed of all the threads.
Can someone help me determine if my phone is rootable? And if so, how to implement it?
It's originally from ATT, but now with Flash Wireless for Tmobile.
