help! Battery charge not increasing - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had my phone plugged into mains using official 2Amp charger but charge is not increasing. Even in battery stats page it shows it has been charging for 2 hours. If i unplug and use phone then charge drops and stays dropped.
What should i do?
This seems to have started after I flashed the newer 241 modem, would that cause this??
Solved.

Solved. was a faulty cable

Sync-charge cable charges to 100%, then discharges

I bought a sync-charge cable for my XDA II. When I used it, it started charging my XDA II from 53% to 100% charge. After that it started discharging , even though the XDA II said it was still charging. I eventually unplugged it when the charge got down to 92%. What gives? Anyone else with this problem? :?:
You are not alone
I have a 'Lill Sync n Charge cable, with the modifications to allow it to charge and it too reaches 100% then stops topping it up.
More strangely, it wont start charging for me unless I open up the Phone app, then plug the cable in! Most annoying. I thought it was just the mods I had done poorly
Even more strangely, it has in fact, been more reliable since I upgraded the ROM to the latest i-Mate version. Bizzare.
Same problem here, weird thing is the first few times it charged, then it started discharging, now I use the mains charger from my xda1 which works for both.

IanF, mind telling us about the mod you did for the sync cable? Did you put in a diode or something?

Cheers,

I've tried charging the XDA II using the cradle without plugging the power adaptor. After charging the XDA II to 100%, the cradle kept it at 100% (using only USB power). So it seems that the problem is with the sync'n'charge cable. Has anyone seen a sync'n'charge cable that not only charges the XDA II to 100% but keeps it charged at 100%?
Charge n sync cable ...
i had a charge and sync cable, but i find it really really strange ... when i plug in to the usb port, the orange led on the xda2 came on, indicating that its charging, when u go into the batter apps, i can see that it shows charging as well ..
after a while. i open the power app again and saw the power bar, in % keeps decreasing !!! whats going on .... ??
anyone encountered this before? btw, the charge and sync cable is not an original item.
its charging now ...
what a heck ... it seemed like charging now ...
the power bar, in %, went down to 0%, then i unplug it (fearing that i might lose all data). was about to use the charger ti charge it, then i tot i might as well do a soft reset and try charging again ...
viola~~! it shows charging again and finally, from 0% to 1% in about 1 min time!! so i guess using a charge and sync cable to charge the xda2 will first discharge the remaining power and charge from 0% ... anyone to confirm on this?? its really annoying ..
conclusion?
well, the xda is charging near 30% now, but just wat makes the xda 2 charging ... ? it was discharging all the way till it reaches 0% ... then i did a soft reset and it went charging up now ...
was it the soft reset that sends the xda2 charging? ... or was it really had to discharge to 0% before charging up?? ...
puzzled ..
Odd... but it works
I tried using the Brando USB sync cable and it discharges... but when I had it synced I took the cable off and put it back after a few seconds it starts charging... hmmm....

My s3 is losing battery while plugged in.

Ive been using my s3 for about 40 minutes on CM10. Plugged into a dual usb charger connected to not ip port, which in the past i have used fine. I have lost 5% battery in this time. Current widget doesn't work yet with S3. Suggestions?
Edit - The first time I got the phone after a full charge and discharge, while plugged into stock charger and before anything root, the same problem happened.

From what I heard, the charger can't charge the phone fast enough when you are using it thus the losing charge while plugging in. If you are talking about losing percentage right after you disconnect the phone from the charger, that is a feature, I do not know at the top of my head why it does it.
If charging through USB port (and many car chargers) you're capped at 500mA vs 700+ for wall chargers. You can install a kernel that supports fast charging and you will get 700mA through USB.

I'm having the same issue whether charging from usb or a power outlet. Charges for a bit initially, then drains. Happens with different cords, too. I'll pick it up and it will feel warm, see that the battery is lower than when I plugged it in, then put it down. Then it cools off and starts charging again. Any ideas?
Same here except
i have the same issue, i had stock Touchwiz and suddenly the phone started to discharge while on charging outlet, tried different chargers, outlets, different ports, etc. still wouldnt work, i even deleted several applications and turned off several phone functions, etc. still nothing, then i rooted to CM10.1 and the same issue still presists, the phone charges a bit then discharges weather i use it or not. the only solution to charge it, it seems to be by turning off the phone. i think it has to do with the usb port on the phone as i even had the battery changed and it still would discharge while on a charger.

Samsung tablet SM-T805 charging issues...

For the past 3 months my tablet has been struggling to charge.
I would plug it in, it would show the charging icon on the battery, but it won't charge. Sometimes it will INCREDIBLY slowly. Other times (most of the time) the charging percentage will decrease while its plugged into a charged.
I have tried:
1.Soft reset
2.Hard reset
3.Removing micro sd card
4.Different (original) lead
5.Different (original charger (3 in total)
6.Opening it up and disconnecting the battery terminal for 5 mins
7.Holding down power while battery disconnected
8.Connecting the charger FIRST before connecting the other end to the mains.
Im getting nowhere. Currently its on 1% and just wont charge.
To me it could be the charging port or the battery. How do i determine (without spending heaps on a battery) what to replace first?. Is there anyone else with this problem?.
Thanks
Just now i plugged it in charge. The tablet is off as its on 0%. It took 30 mins to get to 4%, then it went back down to 0% instantly.
But like i say, when it DOES have a charge, the charge is usually decreasing as the charger is plugged in, till it reaches 0%!. Only sometimes very randomly and very rarely will it actually charge properly, and when it does it operates perfectly with it OFF the charger. So it doesn't drain dramatically off the charger.
Right now im struggling to even get a charge out of it now.
Can someone help? charging port or battery fault??

I'd say it's the battery.

Its on 30% now, creeping up slowly. So strange.
Have you seen any other cases the same to say it is the battery?

When a device charges strangely fast or agonizingly slow, it's typically the battery, also, randomly discharging fast is also a sign.
You could always have a repair take a look with a voltmeter, testing the battery and the USB port/charging components. Or you could do it yourself.
Sometimes it's just the solder working loose on some of the pins from your USB port, you can do a reflow on those solder points.

Warp Charging issue

Hello Everyone ,i updated my device to android 10.0.1.Yesterday my mobile has been switched off due to low battery. So when i plug the charger to the phone the slow charging issue back.It takes 4 hours to charge my phone to 75% and i was too worried to see this.So i had to unplug the charger again and again the warp doesn't work.It just normally charge the phone. However once the battery reaches to 85% the charger automatically switch back to warp charging. So i tired again draining my battery from 95% to 20% and when i charge the phone it charges the phone at normal charging so i had to plug and unplug again and again to get the warp charging back and after couple of minutes the warp charging automatically switch back to normal charging.Once the battery charges upto 80% then the warp charging came back and charges the phone without any issues.i was so worried that the phone just 25 days old and i facing this*problem from the day i bought.im facing the same issues in Android pie also.Any help will greatly appreciated!

Looks like one-off issue. I have warp charging regardless of the battery level. As a one last attempt, try doing a factory reset...it might solve the issue...
I already tired factory reset and i eventually tried downgrading.but I'm not encountering the issue very few times compare tto android 10.

SuperCharge problem: defective charger or battery?

Hi everybody,
it's a few days I have weird problem with SuperCharge.
I apologize for the lenght of this post, but I don't want to miss any detail that could help in solving my problem.
I recently replaced the battery with a new original one (I hope) bought from an eBay seller.
When I switched-on the smartphone, battery level was 58%. So, I used it normally and, when battery level lowered at 30%, I plugged-in the charger.
Completed the recharge, I used the phone as always.
At night, with 30% of battery level, I plugged-in the charger and I went to sleep.
The next day, in the morning, I turned on the screen and the battery level was 32%. I was confused... So, I un-plugged the charger, plugged it in again and the phone needed just few minutes to fully charge at 100% (very weird).
Then I normally used the phone for the entire day.
At night, with 30% of battery level, I plugged-in the charger and I went to sleep.
The day after in the morning I turned on the screen and again the battery wasn't fully charged. It was only 34%.
This time I unplugged the charger and I restarted the phone. After that, it showed 100%. So, in reality, the battery was fully charged!
This made me think it could have been a software related problem: so, I performed a Wipe-Cache-Partition and a battery re-calibration process.
After that, I noticed the charging process was slower, although the phone shows "Super-Charge" in the lock-screen.
So, I wanted to monitor the charging process with Ampere and this is what happens:
- as soon as I connect the charger, for the first few seconds the charging rises to about 4000mA (as it should);
- suddenly the charging stops, as if I disconnected the charger. At the same time, the battery temperature rises for one second to 44/45 ° C and then quickly returns to 32/34 ° C.
- after a few seconds, the phone starts charging again, but at 1600/1700mA.
- cyclically, therefore, the phone tries again to increase the charging to 4000mA, but, as soon as it reaches the peak, the same phenomenon described above is repeated.
I noticed that the charger overheats while charging.
I replaced the USB-C 5A cable, but the problem persists, so it's not cable related.
If, on the other hand, I use a non-5A USB-C cable, the phone recharges in FastCharge mode (2A) without interruptions and the charger does not heat up.
So, the problem exists only with SuperCharge.
Do you think the charger is defective?
Or is the new battery defective?
I thank in advance anyone who will help me. :fingers-crossed:
I noticed a similar problem with super charge.. When plugged in for charging, super charge doesnt show.. It takes super long to charge to even 50%.. So i tried other cables as well and same issue.. I restarted the phone a few times and then switched it off.. Plugged charger in and left it over night. I noticed the next day super charge was functioning correctly
