[ROM] [Deodexed, N920PSPT1AOGD, 100% Stock, Rooted, No Knox] [9/6/2015] - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

With a team effort from myself and @tdunham I'm back again with a completely stock build of Android TW-Lollipop 5.1.1 (N920PVPU1AOGD) for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 5.. I built this stock pre-rooted ROM using the official Samsung tar ball. The ROM will self root upon flash and it has init.d/busybox support (when custom kernels support it). Knox and Sprint Itson has been removed completely. It is completely stock with all of the original factory installed apps as well as a few added features. This build contains a fully deodexed framework and system apps.
Other than the removal of Knox and Sprint Itson, it is stock in almost every other way. This first build is stock and will stay that way. I may make a custom rom later on. This ROM is intended for people who want the stock rom in it's original form with the addition of root and removal of Knox & itson, as well as other members who need a good solid base for their rom projects. I give permission for other dev's to use this rom as your base and I highly recommend that you do so because it is bug-free and built from the official Samsung tar ball. However I do expect proper credit if you use this rom for any other project. If you discover any issues please send me a PM as I may not continuously monitor this thread. If you like my work please press that Thanks button, rate this thread, and consider a kind donation! Enjoy!
About ROM:
Android 5.1.1 N920PVPU1AOGD_N920PSPT1AOGD_SPR
Stock N920PVPU1AOGD kernel (root-permissive) by: @Manh_IT
All factory installed apps including the Sprint Setup Wizard, etc are included. Nothing was removed except...
Knox and Sprint Itson removed.
Hotspot mod enabled
Added camera shutter sound option in camera settings
Added call/message block in settings
Enabled call recording from the phone dialer
Private mode works out of the box
That's about it... for now. This should be as close to the original rom as possible.
Known issue:
tx_dbs_tx said:
I just wanted to let people know that Sprint "ID" is causing Carrier Setup Wizard to fc as well as ID itself. This is a known issue and it is caused by Sprint "ID". I have not been able to successfully deodex it. The apk doesn't like to be deodexed. Until ID has an update through Google Play or Sprint Zone I will not be able to update it in the rom. Once there's an update to ID please send me a PM and I will update the rom. Until then you will have to delete or freeze Sprint "ID" to stop the fc's. Sorry for this inconvenience. It is out of my control at this time.

If you are currently on the stock unrooted rom:
You ONLY need to flash the latest TWRP recovery ( for the N920P ) using odin on your pc. Nothing else. Then flash this rom afterwards. The ROM zip will pre-root your phone as well as flash the stock root-permissive OGD kernel by @Manh_IT
Flashing instructions: ***Before beginning the flash/setup process MAKE SURE your battery has at least 50% charge and/or connected to the charger!!!***
1. Backup anything you don't want to lose off your internal device storage to another location just to be safe.
2. Download the rom using your pc. (downloading with your phone has a much higher risk of file corruption. Not recommended with large files).
3. VERIFY the md5!!! Once the download has finished, compare the AFH md5 using a md5 tool on your pc. (Google "md5 checksum windows").
4. Put the downloaded rom onto your internal storage..
5. With phone powered off, reboot into recovery by pressing and holding volume up, power and the home button until you see the Samsung logo then release all buttons.
6. Once in recovery choose the wipe button and do a factory reset three times. Optional but recommended is to wipe "Data". This will wipe all of your user data such as google accounts so MAKE SURE you backed up first like I said in step #1 above! Next go to "advanced wipe" and select all of the partitions EXCEPT internal storage. Wiping Internal storage is optional but recommended in certain circumstances. The reason is to remove left-over data from previous version of Android and start with a clean slate.
7. Choose the "Install" option and select the rom "Sprint_Hybrid_N920PSPT1AOGD" from your internal storage. It will flash the rom and give a confirmation once completed.
8. Press "Reboot" then "reboot system". You should get no prompts or warnings about not having root.
9. Initial rom "optimization" may take several minutes while ART builds its cache and the phone will remain on the yellow Sprint Spark screen for about 8 to 10 minutes. Let the phone optimize for at least 10 minutes and the screen WILL eventually turn off or show the setup wizard once it finishes. If the screen turns off then simply turn it on and proceed to setup your phone.
10. Once finished with the setup wizard, wait a few moments and the phone will automatically install the Sprint apps. (I know... nobody likes that suff!) You must either "accept" or "disagree" with each and every google prompt for these apps or else the installs pause until you do so.. That's it! You're done!
flashing anything on your device is done at your own risk. There is no way myself or any other developer can guarantee that flashing this ROM or any other file will not brick your device or otherwise cause some other type of damage. This is just a standard warning. I am not responsible for anything that you do to your device.

Did u download the ROM on ur phone? If so, u still have to verify the MD5. One thing about DBS ROMs is a completely clean slate is best. I would re-download the ROM on computer the verify and move to internal storage. U have a backup to go to JIC?

No I don't have the Note 5. I was invited to come help with the new stock base rom and thisis simply my own version with everything left in the rom and is hybrid odexed/deodexed.
Can somebody please download, verify md5 and test flash for me. I need to make sure there's not a problem with the rom. I need a comfirmation from a couple of people wether you successfully boot or not. Thank you.

The md5 matched, but I'm also getting a failed boot at the spark screen. sits on it for a good 10 minutes, reboots, then does it again.

Do you care if i use this as a base? Gonna go through and pull bloat for the lazys and reup it.. credits due of course for your orginial work. Lmk
Thanks for the build. Gonna run in as soon as the dl finishes

So being that this is odex and deodexed and some system apps aren't deodexed, will xposed work with this rom?

tx_dbs_tx , Original poster is correct, flashed 3 times 3 dls, no go,, same result long wait on spark logo, random reboot and restarts again, wont fully boot as is

Hit me up on Hangouts if you can. [email protected]
If you have time you can help me test to find the problem. I can tell you exactly what to do to find the cause and you won't have to re-download the rom.
Sorry about this people. I don't have the Note 5 so I couldn't flash & test this build which is based off of our original test roms which are good to go. I made some changes, updated some framework files and re-uploaded this version and it's not booting. In the meantime I have to pull the download/link until i find and fix the problem. If anyone can help me test the rom, please contact me on google hangouts using my email address above. Thank you.

A couple of people are currently working on the stock OGD root-permissive kernel. When they release it for testing or final build, i will include it in the rom. However I don't think the current kernel is the problem.

I sent an invite but I can't test until tomorrow I left my damn computer at work. But if you ever need some one to test something let me know, I'll gladly risk my device! Haha

Lol nothing real noticeable or mind blowing, pretty sure it's just some tweaks under the hood and patches.
Mobile hotspot not working to good. Although I didn't factory reset after update, something I usually do cause things tend to not work right. Until I do can't say too much about it.
Does this have the latest radio from At&t?
Thanks a ton for this. Everything works great. Did a restore with TB and I'm back and running with no issues.

The KS for posting this. When debloated, deiq'd and greenfield I find stock far smoother than the various variants derived from an international base.
Installed this ROM on my wife's new phone last night using Bump TWRP. Everything seems to work great which is what i want. Thanks.
Was concerned about the infamous overheating problem about this phone with simple video playback. Play video (not game) for a few hours and can barely feel the temperature difference. May be the problem is about video game but that is not my concern.
@1Cwulf: Care to elaborate on the "some tweaks" that you mention in the second post? I tried the international ROM, and it has a few lttle issues that is making me want to try back a proper D850 ROM.

Just something to help with lag and possibly improve battery life a bit.
Its not intended to be a full feature Rom (at least not atm), just something as close to stock without losing functionality.

I recommend re-removing CarrierIQ as there is quite a bit of cruft left.

[ROM][UnOfficial]CyanogenMod 13 Semi-Nightlies for the Verizon Galaxy S3 (d2vzw)

CyanogenMod and D2VZW: Marshmallow Love!
To Make this easy, I am going to copy a bit of the common sense information Master Cylinder put up for the release of Lollipop, same basics apply here!
Huge thanks to Invisiblek for making these builds for us!
Thanks to Master Cylinder for all the super useful information!
De-unified Marshmallow builds for the Galaxy S3 line. This is for the Verizon variant (SCH-I535) only
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6.0 which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Notes:
Please Use Firmware: VRBMF1
and
Modem/Baseband Version: NE1 (Also, see "Notes - Possible Bugs" section below)
(EDIT: The following statement might not be true. It happened to one user. Unsure about circumstances...)If you have recently downgraded firmware from 4.3 to 4.1.2, DO NOT flash the MF1 firmware. You'll brick your device!
If you know you never took the 4.3 OTA, then you can flash the firmware and modem to your hearts content.
CWM Recovery addicts: Please seriously consider giving up CWM and come on board with what works for sure with 5.1.x and up, TWRP. Problems have been coming up with CWM users so if you have one, that's were to start. Hopefully there's a 12-step program somewhere for y'all
Google apps addon:
Open GApps opengapps.org They have many options for you to choose from based on your needs. Updated daily.
>>>WARNING!!<<< The first time one installs Open GApps, you have to do it with a ROM update (or reinstall current ROM) AND manually wipe the system partition first. Then install the ROM and the GApps normally, then wipe Dalvik and Cache. After that, you can flash them anytime. (More info on Website.) ALSO, for now, don't install Webview as it might not work. There is an "Android System Webview" in the Play Store that will work.
I personally don't use GApps on my Daily Driver, I have a second S3 on Wi-Fi only that I put GApps on, and I use it to basically keep all my apk files up to date. When they get updated, I move the updated apk to my main phone!
I went to opengapps.org, went to Platform: ARM, then to Android: 6.0, and then to Variant: pico. Invisiblek made sure he warned me to do a clean install of the ROM, then Immediately flash the GApps package, then Wipe Dalvik and Cache, then boot. He said NOT to try to install ROM, then add GApps later otherwise bad things can happen! Obviously pick the flavor of GApps that suits your needs!
This page will be a work in progress, so please don't yell if something is missing. I just got the OK to share this with others and wanted to get it out there for you to enjoy. I have been playing with it for the last 24 hours and it is ROCK SOLID in my opinion. I haven't found any issues yet! Daily Driver for me for certain. If you have issues, please post them for discussion below!

BUGS:
Need to possibly load a different File Explorer to access SD Card (DoctorImpossible)
Access to camera is not functioning correctly (DoctorImpossible) *EDIT 11-23 build camera works, camcorder fix coming next build!
Outgoing text messages show "not sent", but actually send fine. (Stealth111)
Incoming phone calls do not show caller information (Stealth111)
**When you get your ROM installed and up and running, please be kind and put a small post with information about your install so we can get as much info gathered as possible. (ROM build you installed, Recovery type/version, Clean install, or Dirty (and if dirty, over what version did you flash), what GApps package you installed(exact one please) as well as when you installed it (if on same initial install as ROM, or differently). And lastly maybe the firmware/modem combo you are running. Thanks!
***IMPORTANT INFORMATION*** If you are going to flash to cm-13.0-20151121-UNOFFICIAL-d2vzw or later build, there have been some database changes. InvisibleK has provided a flashable zip file to accommodate nuking your old telephony and settings databases. Nandroid or backup files as needed if you want, as I seem to remember doing this with CM before, and clearing the database wiped texts and call logs I believe. This only needs to be done 1 time, the first time you flash any build from 11-21 on. After you have done this once, you are good to go moving forward, you will be upgraded to the new databases. If you do not flash the "Nuke_It" zip file, you will get phone FC's and a "No SIM Card" error message. So whether upgrading, dirty flashing or whatever, reboot into recovery, flash the ROM, and BEFORE you boot, flash the following zip!
Nuke IT Database Wiper
Profit!
Enjoy!

Thanks. I also misread the notation at OpenGApps, which said that need a "ROM" with the patch to allow Google services permissions. Also, there are some posts I've found about fixing permissions after boot then reinstalling GApps, but I won't post that here in case it misleads. I'll be the guinea pig as I've dloaded and backed up and ready to jump out the window!

Hello and thank you for providing us, S3 users, with the chance to try the long awaited Marshmallow ROM.
I downloaded the ROM a minute ago, but unable to download the MF1 firmware and NE1 modem, via link. I keep getting:
Error 404: Server be all like
Am I doing something wrong? If not... What next?
I just finished booting it. It seems pretty nice, and I only noticed a few things. The boot time was around half an hour as usual with lollipop. I did notice that there wasn't any camera app preloaded and I couldn't access my sd card through the file explorer (I chose not to format my sd card as internal and I gave the file explorer root access).

Yes, @Stealth111 you've copied the text from the CM12 OP but that won't work for links EDIT: that are truncated in a post. You have to manually copy the link, ex: right click on the link (if you're using a computer,) copy link location of whatever, and insert it manually.
Here is the working link: http://www.invisiblek.org/firmware/d2/d2vzw_MF1_firmware_NE1_modem.zip
On another note: I couldn't get my install to function past the first couple of screen in setup. com.android.phone fc avalanche stops all progress. Wiped and installed 3 times with no success. Running NE1 modem (after flashing and booting with ML1 the first time.)

I also can't access the camera even after installing a new camera app. A new file explorer took care of my sd card issues however.
@ Master Cylinder, thanks for the heads up on the link, I have fixed it in the OP. For ****s and giggles, trying wiping and installing just the ROM, and then wipe Dalvic and Cache and see how it goes. Maybe a GApps issue. Also, goes without saying, make sure the MD5 from the download matches to verify you got a good DL..
@Doctorimpossible, glad you were able to sort out the access issue. I install ES File Explorer right away, so I didn't notice the issue. Good catch. These are the types of thing we need to sort out as quickly as possible to get this thing rolling! I will say that my initial boot only took about 5 minutes, but again, I did not load ANY GApps.

I have installed it on 4 devices myself with no issues. They were all with TWRP 2.8.7.0, clean installs, data wiped, ROM only install, and wiped caches before first boot. DoctorImpossible also has installed it and is up and running. I don't know what GApps he is running (if any). I will add to the OP asking people to put what they did/used for successful installs.

I tried that just now for the 4th crapout, and there's no MD5 that I can see, but I'm gonna dload the ROM again to my lap and push it over and try again.

I used the GApps linked in the description with the stock option and flashed using TWRP 2.8.7.0. I rebooted from 5.1.1, factory reset, manually wiped system, flashed the rom, then flashed GApps, wiped the cache, rebooted, rebooted again and flashed xposed (which works by the way!)

There's no way to tell, but you're probably okay. How did you flash your ROM? This is to warn people that the recent post for a procedure to "Downgrade" from their locked bootloader 4.3 OTA that all of us avoided because we were already rooted, etc. This new method has only been around since this summer, so if you have been rooted in the years category, you're probably okay.
Besides, it may even not be a problem if one had done that new method.

[BS_FREE_Lollipop_5.0_Rom_BOK3_Based]

This is a modified version of @jrkruse stock BOK3 deodexed ROM with all(or most) of the stock BS removed.
This BS_free ROM does not have two different versions like his previous build. I left only the Samsung apps needed for UPSM and HD calling to work.
INSTRUCTIONS:
I've included the links needed if you want to use xposed and Viper4Android. If you chose not to use these features, then skip them in the flashing process.
I personally prefer using safestrap when clean flashing a ROM, but you can use flashfire if you must.
1) WIPE EVERYTHING!
2) Flash No_BS ROM
3) Flash Extra toggles
4) Flash No_Bootloader_Rooting_Tools_For_S5_Lollipop_V3.zip
5) Flash xposed-v75-sdk21-arm-arter97-snapdragon.zip
6) Flash Viper Policy
7) Flash Viper4Android
8) Flash BOK3 Firmware without bootloader
9) After first boot, open up Viper4Android and install the driver. Note: Sometimes it takes 2-3 times before the driver will install.
I have confirmed that @jrkruse 5-way reboot with Safestrap works on this ROM!!! If you want to use it, add it to the end of the flashing list. 5Way_Safestrap_Reboot_PM. As a side note, if you use 4-way reboot in Wanam Xposed, then that feature needs to be disabled for 5-way reboot to work.
The ROM should boot in about 8 minutes. The music app will force close everytime the device reboots, but it does work normally.
Forgive my lack of knowing how to make a build thread, since this is my first one, so I'm still learning lol.
NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED.zip
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V2 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I encountered an intermittent bug with SuperSU beta with some apps. I downgraded to the latest stable SuperSU with the latest app. I updated all other apps and got rid of the bright/ugly Verizon boot animation. The music app has not force closed since I started using this version.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V3.zip is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated busybox and removed SBrowser. I also implemented the signature verification fix by @jrkruse, along with default animation scales set to 0.5x.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V4 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated all apps, except for YouTube(xposed purposes). I added the missing VPN apk as well. Let me know if there is any other issues with VPN related settings.
Update: NO_BS_BOK3_ROM_DEODEXED_V5 is now available. The flashing process is the same. I updated all apps. I added the headphone app notification, voicenote, and SPrintSpooler. I don't use voicenote or SPrint, so let me know if there are any issues with these apps.
Note: Don't pay attention to the 1- prefix in front of some of the ROM versions. I prefix all my flashables in my ROM folder with a 1-, 2-, 3-, ect, so that I have them all in order when I flash them instead of having to remember the order every time lol. I forgot to remove those prefixes when I uploaded the ROMs.
I am looking forward in seeing how this Rom is doing.
Question Do i need to install all items list in OP or can i just install first and last as that is all i am needing?

Works like a charm! Just wish someone could get Quick Glance working. I've seen it work in MOAR, but the 3minit mod that's included is a complete turnoff for me.

No, I mean using the V6 Root Tools instead of the V3 as indicated in your directions...
Also, I'm hoping that with a new install I will regain ability to work with Accessibility Options in Settings.
Idk if it makes a difference but I have Original GS5 Rooted, never taken OTA, always ONLY used XDA sources for ROM/Firmware/Kernels.

My rooting tools has the newest firmware, I just forgot to change the version number at the end, but it does say no bootloader.
I wish you luck on the accessibility apps. I never use them, so I don't specifically look for them to work.

[Rom] [Stock] [Rooted] [Deodexed] [Debloated] [TWRP Flashable Zip] [SM-T350]

The reason I am posting here and not in the Rom section is because I am not a developer. I am an Android enthusiast who, with the help of a few awesome tools, some reading and some help from a couple of great devs, I was able to build a custom rom from a stock first release. I have been running it now for a couple of weeks and battery life is awesome. Just enough Samsung apks left in too call it a stock rom but not so many to cause it to lag. I thought that since it was running so nice, I would share it with you. So, without further ado, this is what I came up with.
"Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" This is only for the t350.
With the help of a few awesome people, that provided me with the direction and resources links, I was able to take a stock firmware.tar (T350XXU1BPE3) and make a TWRP flashable zip. This is what I came up with:
I am not a developer..... Let me make this clear.. Lol.. I am not a developer. But I did use an awesome tool that allowed me to make this rom " superr kitchen" .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/kitchen-superrs-kitchen-t3202296/page26
So first and foremost a big thanks goes out to this developer for this awesome tool.
I would also like to give props to Samsung and Sammobile.com for the firmware.
The kernel is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/kernel-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560 and is a stock, permissive kernel. By "[ashyx, http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4899305 Recognized Contributor]" another awesome dev. This is a stock kernel in every respect with SElinux set to permissive.
I would also like to thank and give props to"{FankieT} of {R3Ds themes and Development}" https://plus.google.com/communities/102477541363210451018 for all of his help and guidance. He was who got me started into Linux through Ubuntu and spent many hours teaching this old dog the ways of Android coding. Just a pinch of coding on my part..lol

Use at your own risk. ********You have been warned..*********
Features:
1. Rooted with chainfires SuperSu in system, not systemless (I hate systemless root)
2. Busybox installed
3. Debloated. I didn't go too far (for reliability) but will work on getting more Samsung system apps removed.
4. Zip aligned
5. Deodexed (I may make one that is odexed later on)
6. Removed Kies
7. Custom kernel
Stock but SElinux permissive (see note on developer in Intro)
8. Some script changes but nothing to change system behavior
9. Added ES File explorer v3.2.5.
This app will try to update unless Play Store settings are changed to not auto update. But if you like the latest than update it.
10. Added Nova Launcher v3.3
I don't like the newer Material Designed updated builds. This will also try to update unless settings in Play Store are set to not auto update.
11. Latest Google Keyboard.
I just don't care for Samsung's and like the theming features of Google's latest keyboard. Samsung keyboard is still in though if you prefer to use it instead.
12. According to the toolkit, Knox was removed. Although I still see it in the settings tab under Settings/about phone. I don't think this can be removed safely however all updates (annoying notifications stating that there is an update available) have been removed so there shouldn't be any chance of accidentally updating to the latest firmware, if any is released. If you want an update than you will have to download any updates ( if the are any) from Samsung and use Odin to install it.
Kernel:
Here is a link to the kernel developer's thread, who is another awesome dev, who's kernel is the heart of this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...el-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560/page8
By "[ashyx, Recognized Contributor]" This is a stock kernel in every reguard with SElinux set to permissive.
A few other small things here and there but mostly stock.
-This is a flashable zip using TWRP recovery and I highly recommend the 2.8.7.0 build as apposed to the 3.0.2.0 build that is also on XDA in this forum.
Link to recovery built by "ashyx" an awesome dev...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/recovery-t3426560/page13
-Since this is a stock rom build, gapps are included
#####Flashing instructions#######
###MUST BE ON MARSHMALLOW BUILD ****T350XXU1BPE3******####### so, if you are on a lollipop build (5.0.1) you need to update to 6.0.1 and have TWRP installed........
1. Make a backup onto your external SD card or on a PC using TWRP recovery. This is a very important step as things do go wrong. You have been warned.
2. Wipe. I recommend a clean install with all 4 major wipes done (system, Cache, Dalvik Cache and Data)
3. Flash "Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" rom zip.
4. Wipe both Cache and Dalvik Cache
5. Reboot to system and profit.
*****The first boot will take a long time to boot. Put the device down and walk away until it boots (could take up to 15 minutes ) but most likely around 12 to 15 minutes. That is because all files are deodexed.
After it boots up Go ahead and set up the device the way you like it and enjoy.
I also have a Google Plus Communitee Called "Hayes Tech Rom Reviews" where you can go to watch reviews/overviews of custom roms for many devices that I own. I have about 20 to 25 devices now and try to do reviews on all the diferent roms out for them. I also have awesome links like the 3Minit battery mod by{made by "gharrington"} for the Nexus 6 and many more things. Please feel free to stop by.

Warning, I am not a developer. All I am doing is sharing my personal build. I am not nor will I be responsible for anyone ruining your device. Thermonuclear war or Loss of job from device not working is your responsibility. And above all this zip will void your warranty.
I can't think of anything else..lol.. This is the first time for me so I'm not too sure about proper post etiquette for Custom Roms. I am not posting in the roms section because I am not a developer. I do not have the skills those great people have. We just do not have any stock based roms yet and mine is running great so I am sharing with you all. I am going to try to add more custom features and may even add a pure stock rom for total stock experience, let me know... Enjoy.

Yes it does. I used the kernel that is in this forum to build it with and it is a permissive kernel. The version is v87.1-sdk23-arm made by Wanam specifically for Samsung. I am running it now asking with gravitybox and a few other mods.
Just remember that since it is deodexed it will take a long, long time to boot. I timed it on my last 2 flashes at around 13 minutes both times. My battery life is outstanding.

Just installed this, flashed it and xposed at the same time, took 7 minutes to boot the first time.
Updating, reinstalling and debloating things I don't need now.
Seems faster than the debloated 5.02 rom I was on.

I screwed something up with a xposed module (I guess, everything was fine until I installed a power menu module and told it to reboot into recovery). No matter what I did, It would only boot into twrp. Even if I powered off and plugged the charger in, instantly twrp. Reflashing the rom did absolutely nothing, I had to odin stock then reflash this rom.
Ah well, live and learn with xposed.. I know not to install that power module lol

I hear ya. Xposed is something I use only if I know the module. I never use test version (anymore .. lol) I did the same thing you did a whike back with some other mod.
The only mods I use are Gravitybox, Notify Clean, Xuimod, and sometimes either HK theme engine out Xtheme engine. Gravitybox has most all mods that I need built right in it including an advanced powed menus settings.
Also, when you were in that issue, did you try using the Xposed uninstall zip? That may have got you fixed up too.

Test 2 was never publicly released. I had multiple test 2's
Download Test 3 - Fresh out the oven. Clean flashed (format data in twrp) and booted, restored most of my settings over mobile data without having to edit any apns, didn't have statusbar clock for a little bit which was weird but it showed up, maybe it was taking a nap . Give it a try and let me know.

Install procedure
1. Clean start in twrp (full wipe)
2. Flash sprint test zip
3. In aroma select Sprint
This is where I edited the necessary files for sprint data to connect
4. Make selections in aroma for options as you normally would
5. Let install finish
6. Reboot
6.5 Don't worry about the boot animation, personally I prefer the stock Android so that's what it is
7. Wait
8. Wait
9. Profit? Hopefully

I modified some files for @LeeDroid rom for sprint support prior to sprints nougat ota and posted the download link in his thread but I'm not sure how often other sprint users check his thread being that sprint support wasn't available. If interested in testing to verify before the edits get fully implemented into the rom build please let me know if there are any issues.

Sprint user here. Will test soon as I get a chance.. what TWRP version is necessary? Does it matter what firmware I'm currently on? Thanks!

I haven't updated firmware to most recent yet since it was a security update I didn't feel the need and currently my twrp version is 3.0.2-6 I believe

I finished the edits last night and so far have had no issues but since Lee doesn't have a sprint device for testing I figured this was the best way, if everything is good the edits will be merged into the main rom
I'll try it later but the download speed is poop. Says I have 5 days left. I'll try to download later.

I flashed like the directions said but the phone sat at the "android" boot logo for at least 30 minutes before i restored a backup. I tried flashing a second time too with certain options not selected (such as using the stock kernel this time) and the same thing happened. should i wait longer?

I did not have that issue.
Try flashing, letting sit at Android screen again if it doesn't boot try dirty flashing over top
I had formatted data through twrp and run unencrypted
Also what selections did you choose? Mmfirmware? Root method?

hmmm.. so i selected the MM firmware options but the only thing i did different from you was I selected encryption each time. I will try again while setting encryption to disabled.

Format data in twrp beforehand to be able to run unencrypted, which version of twrp are you using

Update: just an update, it is still booting and is at the android logo, 15 mins so far. I will continue to wait another 30 mins or so

same results after 30 mins. I even tried not selecting any options other than us unlocked and the stock kernel, and disabled encryption, still had the same result. It sits at the android logo during boot up for a while and will reboot once and sit there again. Anyone else seeing any problems like this?

I am having the same results, stayed at android logo for well over an hour and would go no further. I chose mm firmware, run unencrypted (been unencrypted long time) twrp 3.0.3....went back to 2.71
