^Hi Guys,
I’ve got a serious problem with my Ascend Mate 7.
My phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked.
Accidently I formatted /system when I was in recovery mode.
Off course my phone didn’t start, so I tried searched for the stock rom,
but I could only find UPDATE.APP which my phone didn’t recognize.
Later I found a ROM in ZIP format (on xda-dev) but the post told also to update the recovery first.
After updating I’m not able to go into recovery mode.
The phone isn’t also recognized by adb or fastboot.
It shows just the Huawei Logo and does nothing.
Could anybody help me?
Thanks a lot
alcopop
Try to unpack the update with huawei unpacked and from fast boot install the system, recovery and maybe boot and see what happens.

Thanks for your help, but as written I can't access the phone via adb or fastboot.
hi there,
I too have an issue with recovery on my mate 7, it seems there is no recovery installed, i followed the instructions to unlock and root my mate 7 and when i flashed recovery via fastboot the computer says it was all ok but phone doesnt boot into recovery at all.
I also cant update the phone officially, attempts to open recovery via power and vol up just result in a restart.
Other than that phone works well, it is also still recognised in adb fastboot and i can reflash recovery over and over but i just dont seem to be able to access it.
Because i can not access recovery, i cant install SU and gain root access either. It seems like the recovery partition just isnt there anymore, any ideas how to fix??
Thanks
Jadman do what I said in my post, get the update that matches what you have and unpack recovery system even boot and flash them all via fastboot should get you going again.
Cheers

thanks Snake. can i tell what rom im on from the phone settings? and then where do i get it to unpack it??
ok also, i figured im on 308, and when i try to extract the update.app it says its not valid!
Yes because that's an incremental one , my guess is you updated from 137 . Try the fastboot pack I will link, it has the 5.1 recovery and boot should work, fastboot flash recovery and see if that works if not flash the boot img as well.

Also in the original android development section there is an automatic recovery tool you could give that a go. Let me know how you get on.

thankyou snake... genius, flashed the recovery image and now im back up and running.
So which cwm recovery should i use to prevent that happening again? or do i need to update the firmware to something else?
Not sure, iam not rooting mine until the final lollipop is out as it's too much hassle having to go back and forth, if I was going to I would use the twp that is in the original android development, let me know which way you go.
Cheers

Thanks again Snake, I went ahead and used that recovery anyway since you have taught me how to bring the m7 back from the brink anyway! works well, however, for some reason I cant obtain root access based on the tutorials.
Hey both in Adelaide! so they must have sold at least 2 of these phones!
Hey didn't realise you were in Adelaide, what area, they should have sold heaps of these phones I think ppl are just scared as the name is not as big as the others, me personally love this phone, speed power love it all , if it had a pen like the note I don't think there would be a better phone.
Have you tried flashing su from recovery or try the kingroot app.

The problem of Jadman82 should be discussed in a separate thread.
I've started this thread and all I see are replies which doesn't meet the original topic.
I'm still having the issue that my Mate isn't recognized by adb or fasboot.
Everybody is welcome to help and post hints.

yeah on the west side like henley beach road. I agreee about the phone, would just be nice to get some native android on it rather than the miui software.
Thanks for the help snake, some reason when i intstall su from recovery it doesnt root, and king root also fails!! dont know whats going on to be honest.
Sorry for the hijak pop!
Alcopop how did you try to boot into bootloader , as I had the same thing thought I couldn't boot to anything except huawei logo, when you hold down the volume down button and power button do you get your phone to vibrate a bit before booting again.
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
I tried holding VOL+ and VOL- together and powered the device on.
I also tried only to hold only one of the Vol-keys but it just shows the Huawei Logo and does nothing.
Try volume down then power and wait about 10 seconds about 5 seconds after starting to hold down u should feel a small vibration which means its rebooting then another 5-8 seconds should be huawei logo remove fingers and hopefully bootloader.
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
not sure if this is thing or not, but my mt7 would only go into bootloader if the usb was plugged in.
BTW snake, i got b137 installed on my phone eventually.... omg this is like a different phone, amazing, much better than b308, so quick and smooth.
Cool, so you got the latest lollipop installed?

Hey guys,
first of all, my powerbutton stopped working some weeks ago. I thought that not much of a problem, so I remapped this thing and perfect.
I noticed, if I turn off my phone, take battery out and back in, it restarts instantly. Seems to be stucked at "ON" or something.
Well I also noticed without touchrecovery, it's quite a problem to navigate through cwm recovery.
But there's still fastboot... naaah I couldn't find the phone in Windows to install drivers, thought that's a problem of Win8, but after that I tried same thing in ubuntu with manually installed drivers... still nothing.
Okay next thing, is, there are so many apps in the market, which install some recovery, autoflash stuff... Did that, (yeah I gave root access and so on) and still nothing happened, I'm still stuck with this cwm recovery and can't install new roms.
Now my Question(s):
Is there an Option to install some new recovery?
Is there a way to get Fastboot working?
Is there a way to get the Powerbutton in this state back to work?
Or kinda best worst case, is there an option to get my Nexus back to Stock and unroot to send it in, I still got warranty but this would require stock phone...!
Thanks!

have you tried flash touch recovery with ROM Manager app?

Try capacitive buttons on your current recovery. On my current recovery the search button makes the same that the power button, so if in your recovery the button have the same behaviour then you can easily flash a stock rom
Okay, i just got told: "If the power button is always pressed, fast boot does not react on input from keys or over adb.."
Hope that's not the "notsolution" for my problem... ^^

i managed to get it into recovery as well as fastboot. but now when i try to do my recovery backup it causes the same error i was having i.e it would be detected by my laptop but i cant see anything. i may have to do a complete factory restore and see what happenes. Its kinda sad my GF with really NO android experience helped me get it into bootloader WHICH for anyone that has an issue similar to mine where your PC detects your device but you cant see anything on the screen hold down both up and down + power to get into bootloader. if it doesnt work at first hold down down + power (while its still connected to your pc so you can hear it feject) as soon as you hear the eject noise press and up down+up+power and you will be in bootloader
This guy had the same problem

He dd'd his messed up partition back. I guess it's the bootloader that was overwritten but you can dd the secondary bootloader to the primary bootloader partition and it'd fix it hopefully.

I wanted to install a custom Rom on my Nexus 5 running Android 6.0 so I downloaded TWRP latest and unlocked the Bootloader and installed TWRP.
Now the OS doesn't boot up anymore and the TWRP starts but gets rebooted all the time, and TWRP does not seem to be able to mount anything. When it reboots it looks like it automatically goes to the TWRP where it says it is running OpenRecoveryScript but it is unable to mount anything. I tried a boot start to Recovery and it worked but when I tried a factory reset it says the same thing.
I'm worried my phone will die and have further issues, I need help as soon as possible.

It could be, indeed that was my first thought as time ago it used to happen. But I've been trying as a maniac the not less maniac solution of hitting it softly and spasmodically as it turns on, but no success. Such solution it used to work, now it does not.
Currently, desperation makes me think of desperate (probably fool) solutions like unplug the battery to see if that so called "cache" wipes My lovely hammerhead currently open .....but does not look better

Ok, it looks like a f******* and annoying incredible coincidence, right after the flash, the power button arises !! BUT my last test looks like that's the problem :: While rebooting forever, I just keep the VolumeDOWN button pressed and it tries to enter the fast boot menu, as it the power certainly already pressed.
Now that I have the hammerhead open, I'll google to seek how to consistently fix that annoying problem.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I managed my self thru it yesterday, using mainly these 2 YouTube videos

Which basically explain about opening the Nexus 5 Hammerhead, get right to the damn sticky power button, clean it right and manipulate it a little bit with a lady tweezers in order to "unstick" it.
I've already mange thru these nearly 3 years to keep my great hammerhead alive ! Replacing its flex cable, battery, now manipulating the sticky button ....I do not know how much life is left for it but GOD SAVE THE HAMMERHEAD !

When I plug it in the charger it goes to recovery, when I reboot to bootloader it does the same, after flashing too.
How can I recover it?
Did you install TWRP or CWM ? If so try another rom , if not read up on adb and install custom recovery first and find out if your bl is unlocked , if not start there , theres alot of reading you need to do

Hey I think you have same problem as me. It's the volume button. It's stuck at Volume - (down). So every time you start your phone, it think you want to go to Recovery. What I did was, I tap the phone little hard on my hand sideways when I boot it up. That unstucks the volume button.
It works for me but not sure if it is the correct way. Just a suggestion. Don't hold me responsible if it breaks anything else.

Download mode =
First of all turn off the device by holding down the Power for a short while. Then press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds. While still holding these buttons connect the USB cable into your phone.
You can release held keys, when information about Download Mode appeares on your screen.

No the battery life will not effect it going into download mode. I would always have a full battery because if you shut down during a flash it is most likely a failed broken flash. Did you in stall twrp or cwm?

Go download the rom and put it on your sd card. It may possably be still be on there if you didnt del it. Boot in to twrp and select wipe then factory reset. Then flash the rom again and you should be able to boot in to android OS.

I understand. It has been a while since i seen the reset mode screen [emoji2]. Sounds like the phone rejected the android rom that is installed now. That rom is not compatable with the phone. Just so you know for future ref newer roms are more buggy. Best to wait for stable builds. Any ways go to select the reset key it is resetting it is clearing off the rom. Wipe cash and there may be an update by SD card seletion. You would need to try to up date from there. (flash twrp) you def dont have twrp any more if you did the boot into recovery keys and ended up in orignal recovery. You will need to take a photo of the recovery mode bc i cant rember what it looks like as per slecetion. I rember the little hurt Android guy with the red trangel tho ha. May half to do ABD method wich is a bit harder for I. I will research to see if it can be flashed via Odin. [emoji2] . We Really need the phone to go into download mode for any possable flashes to be made via P.C. I will look up ADB code while you try stuff.

Incorrect. In ADB you have multiple options, you will be given choices. When you enter > 10 < for rebooting, it then gives you the option of a normal reboot, reboot into recovery, or reboot into bootloader. The last option is always an exit to bring you back to the main menu in case your entry was an accident. ADB can kick you into the correct boot , it also has the function to add an update.zip (your rom ect). This would probably be your door persay to unbricking the phone. [emoji2]. You would need to learn ADB. Have you plugged in the phone to the laptop and seeing if odin/the laptop recgonizes it while the phone is off?. Try plugging it in off and then on. It helps if you can see the phone in my computer via file explorer. ADB would also tell you if it is recognized. I do beleive you do not need to be in download mode for ABD to work for you.

Well since you are having no luck getting it connected to a p.c and getting it in download mode. You can call the phone company you bought the phone from and tell them it is in a boot loop. Tell them It just randomly happened lol. This phone is known for boot loop issues. Haha. Worth a try to call and ask. If it is as new as you say it will be under warranty. You can also tell them you tired a factory reset already too 😀. See you would be telling them the truth there too. I am on my s2 Rite now creating apps that's why it says s2. Sadly I don't see you getting the phone going because you can't get it hooked up to the p.c. If I was local I'd try hooking it up to my p.c but I am assuming that you are far far away from me. Let me know what happens. I do hope for the best for ya.
