[Q] Qi Charging Pad that has auto shuts off - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Hello xda,
I am looking for a charging pad that auto shuts off when my Note 4 is full. It is hard to find those kinds of wireless chargers. I am using a Qi-Infinity charging receiver as it is the only one I found that retains NFC functionality. But first, a story.
I went through 2 charging receivers because both does not retain NFC functionality. I ended up with the Qi-Infinity as my third and final charging receiver.
I have a RAVPower Charging Pad (RP-WCN7) which seems to continually charge my Note 4 even when full.
So, for the interesting part.
I bought another receiver from amazon that says it will stop charging when the phone is fully charged.
Sure enough, it didn't do that for my Note 4. But interestingly, it stopped charging when I tested it out with a Nexus 4.
Am I missing something with wireless charging technology? Is there a protocol that the qi standard uses to send out charge status? If someone could suggest a wireless charger that shuts off automatically, that would be great!
Thanks

Hi, most wireless charges have built in energy saver that automatically go to idle mode once your phone charges up to 100%. Maybe you've got some problem with your charger. You may go to the CHOETECH wireless chargers. I'm using their Stadium Qi Wireless Charger (3 coils) that I had months ago, but I just saw a new wireless charger (3 coils, lighting sensor) that worth a better shot for $20. Hope it helps.

+1 for the CHOETECH Stadium. I have two of them, and a FoneSalesMan SlimPWRCard in my Note 4. Phone stops charging when it's at 100% - and no sounds so it's good for using at night. Thanks for the link to the new charger, looks good, but the review says 1 coil?

Hi, thank you! You are correct, it's a single coil charger.
I found they're talking about a Fast Charger one. But I'm not sure whether a Fast wireless charger works with our Galaxy Note 4.

Technically, any receiver will work well with any charger. The thing you need to look for is a charger that can output 5V at 1A. Pretty much every charger will have that rating so it's hard to mess that one up. As far as the receiver goes, the higher the current output the better (measured in "ma"). And by "better" I mean the phone will charge faster. I have a 1A (1000ma) receiver in my Note 4. It charges pretty quickly, but interferes with NFC. Also, a higher current for a receiver typically means it will also be thicker, making the back of your phone bulge more.
Which charger and receiver are the most durable/well built is a much more difficult question to answer as there are so many to pick from. Just think about how you want to use it, do you want your phone tilted up at you while it's charging? Do you want a super grippy pad so your phone won't walk off the pad when it vibrates? Do you want it to be portable like the mobile pal 2 in 1? The best charger for you will be dependant on how you answer those questions.
Similar questions need to be asked for the receiver. Do you want it to work with NFC? Will you generally just use wireless charging to charge overnight? If so you can get away with a smaller, lower current receiver since you won't need quick charging. If you'll be charging throughout the day you'll want to get a receiver with a higher current rating.
Well, that answer was longer than I originally intended. But I hope it helps!
Thanks TM that's a lot to go on. But a lot of useful information
From my research online, the CHOETECH Stadium seems to be one of the best rated chargers (if you're not going for the official Samsung setup). I've ordered one and am awaiting its arrival, along with the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OFKS66G
The CHOETECH Stadium has 3 coils as opposed to some chargers that only have one - from what I've read that makes for faster charging and less problems positioning the phone correctly. This is my first foray into wireless charging though, so I'm only repeating what I've read online, not speaking from experience
I use fonesalesman powercard, and my trusty Nokia Qi charger. The thing is you have to find the right spot for the Qi receiver and charger to line up, then it will charge as it should.
Please report backs kinsman when you get chance to try it out thanks

Glad you got sorted out and it's working well. Just got the CHOETECH Stadium (which is also 3 coils) set up and the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard installed. So far very impressed - the card is unnoticeable except for that slight bulging below the flash, which isn't really visible at all in a case. You can basically 'throw' the phone down onto the charging pad without having to worry too much about positioning. So far I have only used the CHOETECH connected to a PC USB port, not a wall adapter, but even at that, with the phone powered on, I got 10% of charge in an hour (65%-75%). Expecting even better results tonight with the CHOETECH plugged into the Samsung charger and the phone off. In any case, it's great to have that trickle charge while you're sitting working at the computer, without having to plug in. Yay for wireless charging
EDIT: Got just over 10% in half an hour with the charger plugged into the Samsung adaptor, and charging through a UAG case. :good:
EDIT 2: Charged phone overnight from 1% to 100%, it took approximately 5 hours. Good thing is there were no beeps or sounds from either the phone or the charger, and no noticeable 'hum' from the charger either - so good for bedside usage

Cheap Wireless Chargers won't charge my edge plus.

My old samsung wireless charger works great but my 2 cheapo wireless chargers I got from newegg do not charge my edge plus. They both worked fine yesterday on my s5. Just a heads up. Attached are pics of the chargers that dont work.

Forget about the cheap charger, even with my Samsung Wireless Charger, the S6 Edge+ won't charge. Look at this: https://youtu.be/SfiGk6C3Yso
I bought a 60 dollar stand up charger at best buy and it works great! I had to take the Samsung one back it just blinked. Three days on this stand up one and no problems!
My old samsung wireless charger works. This one
There are still high quality wireless chargers at reasonable prices. Read the reviews before giving it a shot.
i have a problem and need solution
I have the old Nokia Charger and it works fine with and without the case.
Wireless charger...isn't it a new concept to rob money from our pocket? For me, I would prefer to stay with wall charger
For the record, THIS charger does the same thing with my S6 Edge +. I can actually sit here and watch the battery drain while allegedly charging.
I use a Choe Stadium 3 coil and it charges my phone insanely fast.
That sucks. I bought few Nokia DT-900 when they were on sale for $6. It charges my phone just fine.
I use this wireless charger with the adapter and power cord that came with the s6 edge+. Works very well. Works with my galaxy s5 also. Lugulake wireless charger

Wireless charging is cool if the charging speed could be improved, i guess that's why Samsung use 10w wireless charger this time, 2 hours with wireless charging compared with 1.5 hours with wired charging, charging speed would not be a big concern anymore.

I totally agree. And I also notice that some brands start adding quick charge function on power bank, if that happen, we don't have to take 1 to 2 days to charge a 20000mAh power bank anymore, so excited for that.
I was waiting for some 3rd party company to come up with a fast wireless chargers. Finally here's one : http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Lighting-Qi-Enabled-Adaptive-Included/dp/B015351V9U/
Soon , rest will join... I'm so pissed off with Samsung right now, I'm getting one of these for sure! I'll put up a review once I receive one!

I bought the same one, it charges ok.. But nothing fancy..
I would only use one if you go through cords a lot.. It doesn't charge too fast.. But if your tired and don't want to fiddle with a cord or in my case I go through cords a lot for some reason.. It's nice to just put it down and forget it..
The downside to Wireless charging is over time the heat generated can actually damage your battery.. So better stick with the fast charger...
I bought a decent Samsung Knock off charger with the Samsung logo on it.. It works just as the OEM.. Lucky me..
The specs show it charges at 1A (1000mA), which is not fast at all.
100% Brand New,High Quality!

Short-circuit protection of the receiver to avoid overcharge & overheating, security and reliable

Notelease remove the phone case cover when you use it.
The S6 can not fast charge wirelessly so there is no point in spending more money for a fast wireless charger. You can save your money and get a regular wireless charger.

i got a "knockoff" samsung wireless charger puck type and it doesn't charge fast because i didn't know that the s6 did not support fast charging wirelessly!
the only issue i had was every time the display went out the wireless charging would stop and wake the display then start charging.
fixed this with an app called dock station
I went for an Anker qi wireless charger and it is perfect. It's like a small hockey puck and works a treat! Under £10 as well [emoji106]?

A fake wireless charger

Hey guys,
So I got this Samsung wireless charger that is supposedly 'original' from Aliexpress.
There's actually a fan inside and it does say that it's fast wirelessly charging on the phone. However it is not that fast - 15% in 40 minutes. What speeds do you get with your wireless chargers? I'm using the original wall adapter from Samsung (9V 1.67A one).

If it cost less than from the samsung store then its not original, it does take 4 hours to charge the phone with the cheap wireless charger.
Of the ones I've used even with my S5, I found the cable and power supply are critical. Lastly the placement on the charger. All of mine have come from an Aliexpress seller. I can't tell you exact times but I know they charge as fast as the phone will allow before overheating. Not to say some sources aren't bad. Just my luck has been good. I even converted some of my S5 vehicle charge pads, simply by adjusting the charge center, and have continued to use them. Anyway, try different cables and usb supplies. if the phone doesn't get warm or better it isn't charging fast.

Outside of the Google dock, I have tried a few "10W" wireless chargers that only deliver slow charging. Looking to see if people can suggest true fast charge wireless pucks. Specifically at a Best Buy or local to purchase.

I received the Anker wireless charging pad and power supply today.
Wireless fast charging works well.
I've attached a couple pics;
1 - The charging pad, powered up, but idling (no phone sitting on the charging pad). I've got a Satechi USB-C power monitor plugged inline. So, here you can see it's powered with 9V @ 20ma (thus, 0.18W)
2 - The Pixel 4 XL sitting atop the charging pad. Soon after setting the phone on the charging pad, the phone, pad, and power supply work out that the pad should be powered with 12v. So the power supply switches from 9V to 12V. Again, looking at the Satechi USB-C power monitor, the pad is drawing 1.2A @ 12V (thus, 14.4W). I've got the AccuBattery app running on the phone, and it shows the battery charge current at near 2A. That's "fast" charging!!! When I set the phone on the charging pad it was at 65%. A little over an hour later it was charged to 100%.
Net-net... this is a good combo. Maybe a little spendy, but they work.
WOW... to double your wireless charging speed you need to spend 3-4x the $$... 5w you can pick up for $10+... 10w will run you $50+ smh
I'm currently using a magnetic phone mount in my vehicle with my Pixel 2. Has anyone had trouble using wireless charging along with either a magnetic case or with a metal disk inserted in the case to work on the phone mount?
Trying to figure potential gotcha's when I upgrade to a new phone which will probably be the 4XL.

Wow. Appreciate the detail. I am a little surprised that it seems most companies separate the puck from the AC adapter. Dont know why they can make it as one product.
