I am on a T-Mobile S6 (920T) running Twisted Sixx v3 and System (mediaserver) is draining A LOT of my battery.
Any ideas on how I can get this under control?
TIA

It definitely sounds like you have a background process running continously and you are not 'deep-sleeping'. Use CPU Spy and check to see if "time-in-state" clock cycles... you should be deep-sleeping 90% of the time during screen-off and know you have shutdown apps you normally use. My experience with UCLA3 modem is very favorable... faster data speeds and better reception coverage. I'm running it with the stock UCLA3 rom and UCLA kernel, and my Android system usage bounces around 1% to 5% CPU usage at any point in time. What rom/kernel are you running? Another suggestion is to use BetterBatteryStats app... great for checking which processes/apps generate wakups, partial wakelocks, and process times.
Ya i know what your talking about and i do have cpu spy and my phone is sleeping quite a bit but it seems that system_server just wakes it up and runs like crazy. im on nexus mod 4 and faux kernel undervolted. anything i could freeze to help with this?
BetterBatteryStats will tell you which processes ars generating wakeups and how many minutes /seconds they're actively using battery
OKay i think i found the problem with my battery drain just running a few trials to see if it really back to normal. will report back
Ya it was weird but i think that the battery drain was the ucla3 update on a rogers phone. not sure but when i went back to rogers radio and quikwiz rom my battery drain issues dissapeared :S oh well thank for your help though
I just realized that the SGS3 Touchwiz UX ported to our Notes is constantly running on background and eating the juices of our gadgets. When I returned back I've got considrably more power. So, for those of you that still running Touchwiz UX be prepared for shorter battery life.
true!
Only the dadelion LWP picked from TW UX had the same issue on mine, bringing lags and battery drain. When I went back to my classic picture wallpaper, I really felt the difference.
No such experience here. i was on kingdroid rom with tw5 ... battery was awesome.
There is some difference, may be placebo. I usually have 50% juice at eod but today i had over 60% using stock launcher.

Most importantly..the Ram usage is much higher with touch wiz..compared to other launchers..

If you actually check CPUSpy, it usually displays 1400Mhz & 200Mhz used when the phone is actually not touched. With APEX, it constantly shows Deep Sleep.
Somehow the Touchwix UX is waking the device up. It still goes to deep sleep, but it also does eat a bit more juice. That's my .2 cents.
maybe the "ripple" effect of the lwp is counted as a touch on the screen and keeps it up ?
I have noticed the problem too--battery life is taking a hit.Had 80% battery at 2am and when i woke up at 9:30-lo and behold-only a measly 20% remaining !
and that is w/o any kind of app running or wifi or BT or whatever
same problem
Friends!
I have also the same problem. After flashing SGS3 addons on kingdroid rom i have quick battery drain problem. How do i go back to old touchwiz from SGS3 Touchwiz UX ?

Well i didnt experienced it much, you can remove days.apk, do make a backup of old stock one
OP, on the contrary! I've been getting better battery overall, even with Franco's #5 clocked at 1.6 Ghz! (using Alba's DDLP8 Full Repack V2 ROM)
I can go through the day without touching the AC charger and moderate use! (I m at 10 hours 5 minutes with a little over 30% charge left!)
I liked it so much that I even stopped using Nova Premium or any other launcher!
Cheers!
Hello,
using the new 4.2.2 rom from the Google Edition I noticed that the battery on 3G data (no wifi) is worse than stock.
I disabled fast dormancy on this ROM (likewise on TW) and made a test leaving the phone in idle for 4h with no screen on time.
Using betterbatterystats
TW ROM:
I get about 0.9%/h drain with same apps
GE 4.2.2 ROM;
I get 1.2%/h drain with same apps
I get the same wakelock times of fast_dormancy.
You might think this is nothing but if you look at it from a big scale it's a 30% increase of battery usage. This is not good according to me.
I bet even screen on time is affected by it.
Also, analyzing the battery stats I see that Android System / Android OS that usually are around <4% compared to Screen have now an usual high percentage confirming that system is not going to sleep or doing some extra work causing drainage.
This makes me wonder why again TW roms always use less battery power, even the ones made by Samsung. What could be the reason?
Thoughts?
we still don't have an official stock GE firmware (only made from a system dump - an early system dump at that).

Hmmm... I'm quite happy with battery life...

I thought I disabled fast dormancy but I'm getting high wakelocks Caused by fast dormancy and the battery is draining fast, do you have bad battery life while idling on 3g data?
My dad gave me a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket I727, and I am enjoying it except for the battery life. I have been researched and turned off everything I can think of that might drain the battery fast. My dad has a mpj battery as spare, but it disappeared. Would a new battery help? If possible I would buy a new.

Can you tell what you did?
I see much better battery life with cyanogenmod base rom
Kernel i change to badass. Noop i/o. I underclock to 1026 seems to play most games ok no lag. Also use greenify dont sync apps. Set app as to manually update them.
Also black dark apps helps in some roms turning the hardware key lights off helps. And if using cyanogen mod stop wakelock RILJ.
Altogether and you will see a difference in battery life iblove the dirty unicorns 4,4,2.
Hello there community. After owning the Nexus 5 for about 1 year and 3 months. My battery life has gone really bad in the last few weeks. I have tried calibrating it through sucking out the whole juice and bring it up to 100 % and such tricks, but the battery is still the same, draining a little faster than before. Im even underclocked and undervolted with Codeblue trying to save some juice, but is still is in a bad situation. So the question is, is it time to send it to service and change the internal battery ? Or most people are suffering after Lollipop ? etc... Any reply would be appreciated
