I decided to root my phone (galaxy S5) and downloaded the Wi-Fi tether router from the play store. I recently got a message saying " You've used 100% of the paid high speed data on your T-mobile plan. Your Smartphone Mobile Hotspot speed will now be limited to 128 kbps until 09/23/2015. Smartphone data will still be at full speeds. My laptop connects at full speed when using a vpn. Last month it also would work using a user agent and the console would be unaffected for some reason this month T-mobile has found a way to stop it. The console will obtain the IP address, internet connection is successful but the download speed says 128 kbps making everything unplayable. My APN and router settings are all correct and I don't know what to do. This is my only means of playing online or enjoying Netflix plz help me.
Hmmm
The ps store and friends list load slow but I can play games without lag for some reason
Same Problem here. The issue is you can use a user-agent switcher for the pc to hide tethering but not for the PS4. There is no way to hide it so Tmob ALWAYS knows you are tethering your PS4....ie data gone...

I have the Tmobile $70 plan with comes with 2.5 GB of tethering.
If I tether to my laptop and the laptop has a VPN, then I can look at the counter at ma.web2go.com and see that no tethering data is being used. This solution works very well for a laptop, where I can operate a VPN on the laptop.
When I use the VPN on the phone, not the laptop, the laptop will see the tether wifi signal, will register, but the internet will not work on the laptop.
Or, other times, the VPN will disconnect on the phone after a few seconds and cannot be reconnected.
I would like to be able to use the VPN on the phone so that I can use a Roku and Chromecast where I cannot set up a VPN on the device.
Yes, I have added the line in the database file.
I have seen a solution elsewhere which involves switching the APN to use IPv4, but the APN is already set that way.
It seems as if Tmobile has some measures in place to stop people from doing what I want to do - anyone else experience this and anyone find any ways around it?
So I have wifi at home it sucks the max speed available in our area is 1.5 mbs, but on my phone through lte I get between 8mbs and 40 mbs, so I was wondering if there was any way that I could use my phone internet for accessing say netflix or whatever and using the network at home so that I could connect and send what I'm downloading on my phone to the chromecast. Or are there any other devices that will allow me to do this??
Hi im sorry if im not posting in correct place but im having trouble getting 10mbs+ on ps4 connection i get 123kbs download speed and upload speed like 106.8kbs can someone help me improve the configure setting so i can have a better speed? Please i have a rooted samsung galaxy s5 with unlimited data and wifi tether router it works fine with my other s5 but not with ps4 connection please help me
How did you get it to work on the ps4 please help???
I am actually having the same problem.. I just picked up a ps4 a few weeks ago and decided to root my phone (galaxy note 3) and downloaded the Wi-Fi tether router from the play store. My brothers iPhone and my girlfriends laptop connects to my Wi-Fi perfectly. But when I try to connect to ps4, the console won't sign me into the PlayStation network. the console will obtain the IP address, internet connection is successful but PSN sign in fails. The internet browser on the console also goes to the Tmobile page asking me to activate hotspot. I tried setting up vpn to try and bypass tmobiles restrictions but it takes me to the same Tmobile page. This is my only means of playing online or enjoying Netflix. Please help
did u ever get it to work I've encountered the same problem
I have unlimited high speed data with T-Mobile but only 7GB mobile hotspot. I just moved into a brand new apartment and could buy DSL (yuck) right now, or wait for them to run the cables so I can get cable internet. Only problem is the cables won't be ready for over a month. So a month without internet.
I want to tether to my PC to make a hotspot for my phone, xbox, and other devices. I have tried quite a few things so I'll list them. I have an HTC 2PST2 and I've tried to root it, but since it's new and not too popular no one has made a root for it (that i know of, if you know one let me know).
1. PdaNet+ works with wifi, but it doesn't hide my tether usage when I'm on wifi. So after the 7GB is slows down to 125 kb/s. Before I hit the data ceiling my other devices were getting 20down/12up. I used it to play Xbox Live and it worked perfectly. I could talk to people in party and play multiplayer. Once I ran out of data I tethered my phone to my Xbox and ran detailed network statistics check and it was 0.1down/0.1up like I expected.
2. What I've been doing now is using ClockworkMod to usb tether. When I do a speed test on my computer my speed is 20down/12up. So the computer is fine. The problem is when I try to share it.
3. If I share (sharing by going into network settings & sharing in windows 7) my internet to my Xbox with an ethernet cable I can get on Xbox Live. I can do solo missions on Destiny, but if I try anything with matchmaking it never finds anyone (strict NAT). If I do find someone for a Strike (3 people) it is extremely laggy and I usually end up disconnecting. I also can't get into parties on Xbox. I would give you the speeds, but everytime I try to run a detailed network statistics check it never returns anything.
4. If I use connectify-me to make my computer a hotspot I'm getting 20down/12up on my PC, but 1down/2up when I check the speed on my iphone. I can't test on my Xbox, but it connects to live, but I think the connection is just too slow like when I was on 125kbs with PdaNet.
5. If I make an ad hoc network I get 3down/2up on my phone, but ad hoc shows up as a device and not a network so my Xbox can't connect to it.
So, with all of that knowledge, keep in mind I can't root. How can I use my phones data to play Xbox live like I did with PdaNet before I hit the data limit? If I can make a hotspot where the device is getting 5down/5up I think that would work too. Any help is much appriciated.
Actually my college internet blocks all online games. So I use Airtel mobile internet. I use usb tethering to connect to internet. While playing PUBG, It randomly shows Network lag detected. I play on Asia server. I have tried switching modes from phone info(*#*#4636#*#*) and also reset the apn settings, but nothing solves the issue. Has anyone faced this issue? Can you suggest a fix for this?
Anyone?? pls
This is a month old and found it while looking for pubg optimisations.
Assuming you are playing pubg (desktop version)
Online games require a good internet connection.
A good internet connection doesnt mean high speed only. You need faster PING. Mobile networks have slower pings compared to fiber/cable internet. So check your ping as it will change depending on signal strength, etc.
Its issue of connection not your phones fault.
PS: during your test you might see faster PING but when you are connecting to a game server that connection might have multiple hoops so you'll get slower ping than test servers( as they are designed to have less hoops and fast connection)
Hope this soothes the pain.
Did u try to use just VPN service?
@netgar: To make it worse? VPN usually takes more hops. So the ping is automatically higher. And I doubt, Airtel will route you worse than via VPN.
Same issue
i am also having the same issue
