google messenger app - Galaxy Note5 Themes and Apps

when i receive a text my screen does not automatically turn on when im usuing google messenger. is there a setting i need to activate to make it work?

I've never had it turn on regardless of the phone I'm using. I believe that's how Messenger is. I don't think you can change it.

AcDisplay changes the whole lockscreen, I just wanted the screen to switch on for a few secinds like active display and adaptive display in moto X and nexus 6 when any notification is received to glance it quickly on lockscreen without having to pick the phone press the power button

Interference between SMS Pop up and noLED

So I've been running noLED on my Nexus S for a while now and just decided to add the app SMS Popup. The problem is that when my phone is sleeping and I get a text I no longer get the notification icon from noLED only, I also get the message pop up and the buttons on it (reply and close) stay active.
I wish that when my phone was sleeping and I got a text I only got the "notification light" from noLED and once I unlocked the screen I'd see the SMS pop up. Does anyone know of a way to reach that? Maybe another app would behave accordingly? Thanks
Under the miscellaneous setting in noled check the option to delay SMS notifications. Works great for me.
That said the pop-up won't be there when the phone is unlocked. Just for the I initial screen on.

Thanks for the tip but that doesn't really help me achieve what I want.
Maybe I could try another SMS program? (Handcent, etc) Opinions/experiences would be great.
I don't think the app matters. The way I understand it is noled will "dismiss " any popup occupying the screen in order to work.
Let me know if you find something though as its an option I'd love to have myself.

Tried Handcent, Chomp, tried even using Widget Locker and it was a no go.

Perhaps you can check out the app's thread for more info and help.

Facebook Push Notifications

So here's the story, I loaned my friend my phone the other day so he could check his fb account using the regular fb app. He was asking me how to check his notifications and showed me the phone, and when i got the phone I saw that there was an icon like a sign post in the notification bar, so I pulled it down and lo and behold there was a notification for someone commenting on his status a minute ago. I was checking it out and they were PUSH notifications! I thought Facebook had silently updated itself, so when i got my phone back I immediately logged into my account and updated my status to something interesting, but no push notifications even though people were updating. Has anyone else been able to enable push notifications using just the default app?

Mine does it. Have you tried logging out, uninstalling fb completely, downloading a fresh copy... Reinstalling?
Also check your accounts and settings to make sure fb is set up for autosync... May be worth a try...

That works with getting messages, but my friend was getting actual push notifications for every notification he received right as it happened.

Not really cuz I have the phone set to check every hour, yet even when the phone was locked he was getting notifications for everything right as they happened. Seriously this is my second android phone and that's the first time I've ever seen Facebook do that.

I get push notifications right as they happen. All day long. Has been like this since day one. I'm pretty sire its the Facebook for HTC Sense that's doing it. Not the actual Facebook app. Try logging out of your Facebook for HTC Sense account in your settings then logging back in. Like I said, this has been working for me since day one on the stock rom. And still works on every rom I have used since.

Messed around with all my settings and still nothing. This is bugging the he'll out of me cuz all my friend did was log in. I checked the actual website and the "facebook for android " app doesn't show up in the list of allowed apps, any way this could be the cause?

An update for anyone still wanting to get push notifications: I was able to enable them in my phone, but i had to suck up my pride first and log into fb using the IPHONE app. Once you log in you'll get a pop up asking if you want to enable push notifications. Select yes and log out and go back to your sweet beautiful android phone and you will have push the notifications enabled!

Not always getting notifications!!

Hey there,
So I don't always message people, but when I do I rarely get notified they replies. This mainly occurs in Hangouts and Facebook Messenger. What happens is I will message someone, close the messaging app, lock the screen and wait for my led notification light to alert me that I have a reply. But every now and then I don't!!! I currently run the Paranoid Android Beat4.
Thanks in Advance

I have also the same problem with all the apps that send notifications....fb,fb messenger,g+ and tapatalk...fb and fb messenger sometimes send notifications...g+ and tapatalk almost never....
When I wake up in the morning I have to manually check my messages and gmail because sometime through the night the notifcations disappear. It could be something crashes during the night, because I know I am reaching onto my desk from my bed to clear the notification but leave it unread.
Same here. I made a post referring to the phone sleeping through notifications. Seems it can happen with any notification but mostly I notice it with Hangouts.
I have a feeling this issue is what many people are actually referring to when they say their notification LED doesn't always work. Except the sound doesn't play either.

Screen off Google Now Command App?

Anyone found an app that will wake the phone up and open google now with a command? Open Mic+ wont work properly for some reason plus it leaves the mic on all the time.

I actually believe you can accomplish what you are talking about with an app called tasker. There is a plugin that allows that very thing along with custom voice commands. Tasker does require some tinkering and setup but there is plenty of tutorials and information on Xda about it. Hope that gets you going

To use command the mic will have to be listening all the time believe. Would probably kill your battery life but would be cool to skip lock screen with voice.

That let's you use it from the lock screen, the screen still has to be on. The OP was looking for something that would do it with the screen off. I am sure tasker can do this though I have yet to try it myself.

I don't understand how tasker could keep the mic on when the screen is off. Seems like a major battery killer either way.

My MotoX had this feature. Not sure how it was accomplished, but with the phone sitting next to me on night stand I could use Ok Google and use it without ever having to touch the phone.
My advice? Get a Android Wear device. I just got a LG G Watch from Cowboom for less than $80 delivered. It was refurbished, but in perfect condition.
It has the "always on" Google Now listening ability, but I think it's actually better than the Moto X because you don't have to pull your phone out to see the results - they come right on the watch. If it is too small, then you can push the results to your phone, but the vast majority of the time getting the results on the watch work just fine.
I too wanted the always listening capabilities of the Moto X for my G3. But after getting the watch, I can say that I'm much happier having the watch because it does so much more too.

always on display

I'm on TMobile. And I just got an update for the always on display. It now has the option to show notifications on the on the screen. I clicked this on the settings but I'm still not seeing the notifications. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes tge new update for s7edge has some new features, but unfortunately samsung exceeded the third party notifications, i don't understand why, doesn't make sense..
Try this
Settings - Lock Screen & Security - Other Security Settings - Notification Access
Turn Always On Display to ON, the update didn't turned it on by itself.
