India is not north America? Isn't that enough

The short answer is it will work on either gsm or CDMA but only sprint CDMA in us. Long answer is you bought the US version for use outside of the US. Not sure it will work in India.

which nexus s

Hello
I apologize now, i have searched but maybe im looking for the wrong answer
I have just bought a nexus s and rooted it via a great guide on here that works for all nexus s's the only problem i am having is now trying to find out what model i have as i bought it off ebay.
under the battery it says GT I9020
but with the A and T available i dunno which one i have.
I will provide more info if required but i dunno which one i have so i can flash the more up to date OTA (ie 2.3.5 + 6)
I apologize again and thank you for help in advance
Regards
Matt
Which carrier, can use 3G?
If ATT and 3G - a
ATT and no 3G - t
TMo 3G - t
TMo no 3G - a
Compare frequencies from your carrier with ATT/TMo if not in US.

ok so as i see it someone correct me if i am wrong
i have 3 g but i am in uk so
AT&T 3G = 850/1900Mhz
TMobile 3G = 1700/2100Mhz
I am on Three UK and they support 850/2100Mhz
Mock me if i am wrong but i am still confused to which model i have an A or a T
:-(
Check gsmarena.com
Att has 850-1900-2100
Tmo has 900-1700-2100
I hope this helps.
Can u take a picture of the model number in the back. Out of curiosity I wanna see how did that happen
Still both networks support 3G 2100Mhz and after checking what aerial mast is in my area with the network you guessed it its a 2100Mhz so i still have no idea on which model number i have :-(
someone give me a clue!
You have the at&t model. Even though they both have 2100mhz, Tmobile uses there 2100mhz specifically for the upload portion of HSPA+ while the 1700mhz is used specifically for the download portion, without both bands then your phone (any HSPA phone) will not register with Tmobile 3/4G network.

Sprint Nexus 5

hello im just planning to buy a Sprint Nexus 5, but i want to check if root process, roms, kernels are the same between all carrier variants because im only seeing hammerhead. sorry about the question
There is only 2 nexus 5 variant.
D820 is sold in america
D821 is sold in rest of the world
There is no difference between D820 and D821. A chip on D820 is programmed to work with usa lte networks, while on D821 this chip is programmed to work with lte network outside of the usa. Besides that all nexus is the same, and all sim unlocked.

^^+1 they're all the same. No variants.

If you're really planning to buy; not rent a phone, just get it from the Play Store. The 16gb version is cheaper and you can get the 32 gb version if you want, which Sprint doesn't carry. You can get the SIM card from Sprint and activate it, no charge. That unleashes you from any long term commitment to Sprint.

Ordering nexus 5 to india from US

I wanted to know if anyone has tried ordering nexus 5 to India from US using shopandship.com or borderlinx or other similar means. If so how much did the total amount come to and how much time it took?
Incase people are wondering how to do it then here is the guide:

Is the US version the right one for India? Remember there is the D820 for North America and the D821 for the rest of the World

My friends had bought it from there and its working in India without any issue. What is the difference between D820 or D821?
Editk i found the difference. Is it possible to tell them i need D821 when i buy it from US?
No, D821 is only available outside of the US so you'll have to get it from Europe if you want/need the D821 variant

My friend is using his phone which he got from US without any issue so it should work for me also right?
Yes, just not on 4G (unless your network uses the same 4G bands as Us networks)

As of now 3g only thanks a lot for ur help. But do u know the safest and cheaper way to ship it to India other than sending it along with someone.
Coz in india 32gb costs around 34k where as if i buy from US it will cost only 25k but i dont have anyone coming to india anytime soon
NO idea, I'm lucky enough to get it from the Play Store. Good luck
My N5 is from the US i.e. D820. Works perfectly.. And for 4G god in future may bless us with that..

It's more likely to be your network provider giving you 4g but unlikely they'll give it on same band as USA. USA are rebels. Rest of the world adhere to global (or at least national) standards

[Q] Converting US version to Rest of world

Hello,
I want to ask a question. If I buy Nexus 5 in U.S I will get special version for US...
I want to use it in Europe, I know that will by working without LTE.
My question is.. Is it posible to convert US version to version for Europe? I think that diference is only in software....
Sorry for my english
Thank you for ansver
There's nothing to change, you just won't get LTE/4G. Just put your SIM in the phone and away you go!
Radio can only handle 7 lte bands. Us version already uses all 7 bands. There's no method available to change the bands the radio has been released from the factory with.

Solution :don't buy the US version

A want LTE so i will buy EU version...
I was asking beacause US version is cheaper... And I am now in US
No there's no way to make it work. Its down to hardware level and it would cost you just as much as getting the D821 by trying to modify anything in your phone's hardware.
OK OK... I dont know its a hardware issue... I was thinking that is about software...
I will look for EU version...
Don't buy the USA one. The lte bands differ as does one of the gsm for the UK and other countries in Europe

It will work BTW you will just lack 2 lte and 1gsm band

Just bought a LG-d821 Nexus 5 (unlocked) and Sprint wont activate it. Any suggestion?

Hey I got this phone based on a sprint rep telling me that this would be able to be activated on their CDMA network. As I understand it, the Nexus can use GSM and CDMA. Is it because they dont have the proper MEIDs from LG in their system?
Is there any hope in getting this activated with Sprint, I have spent 6 hrs on the phone with different reps lol.
Thanks in advance..

In the old days (last year) customer service could add your MEID to their database and activate. Now Sprint has to create what is called a click it ticket. This sends your request to the next level up to add your MEID. This could take up to 3 days. I am unsure if you still need a SIM card to access the LTE or not... The 5X and 6P need one.
The D821 is not made for North America. The North American model is d820.

So it cant be unlocked to lock with a LTE frequency that sprint uses? I've read about a few people having success but the 4g just didn't work. Thanks for your reply, I have been reading and on the phone for hours.
AFAIK, it can't be enabled for use on Sprint or Verizon.
