hello im just planning to buy a Sprint Nexus 5, but i want to check if root process, roms, kernels are the same between all carrier variants because im only seeing hammerhead. sorry about the question
There is only 2 nexus 5 variant.
D820 is sold in america
D821 is sold in rest of the world
There is no difference between D820 and D821. A chip on D820 is programmed to work with usa lte networks, while on D821 this chip is programmed to work with lte network outside of the usa. Besides that all nexus is the same, and all sim unlocked.

If you're really planning to buy; not rent a phone, just get it from the Play Store. The 16gb version is cheaper and you can get the 32 gb version if you want, which Sprint doesn't carry. You can get the SIM card from Sprint and activate it, no charge. That unleashes you from any long term commitment to Sprint.

Dear Nexus 5 Users,
I've been using HOX till this date and happy with it. My friends are coming from USA to Netherlands in another 4 weeks, so I've planned to upgrade my HOX to N5, when I've checked the price in Google play store USA, I saw it for just $400 for 32 gb model. It says the product is Unlocked, but when i was checking the sites for any compatibility issues when used in Europe (Netherlands), there has not been a clear answers given.
So, I'm sorry If my question sounded Dumb...kindly answer my question...
Will LTE work in Europe..??
I believe the google play store sells the unlocked model of nexus 5...also i believe it does support GSM Triband and I'm 95% confident that N5 bought in google play USA will work in Netherlands...but i believe N5 XDA users can confirm it...

i guess he will bring the D820 (North America model): GSM and 3G will work in Europe normally but not LTE(4G) because most of 4G operators in Europe use Band 3 (1800 MHZ) or 7 (2600 MHZ) or 20 (800 MHZ) and D820 does not support these bands as LTE (any way check on what band your operator provide the LTE) see here for band list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
if he can find the D821 version, then you will be able to use 4G in Europe for sure.
see here difference between D820 and D821 regarding 4G file:///C:/Users/Samer/Desktop/Differences%20between%20the%20two%20Nexus%205%20models,%20D820%20and%20D821.htm
Hello,
I want to ask a question. If I buy Nexus 5 in U.S I will get special version for US...
I want to use it in Europe, I know that will by working without LTE.
My question is.. Is it posible to convert US version to version for Europe? I think that diference is only in software....
Sorry for my english
Thank you for ansver
There's nothing to change, you just won't get LTE/4G. Just put your SIM in the phone and away you go!
Radio can only handle 7 lte bands. Us version already uses all 7 bands. There's no method available to change the bands the radio has been released from the factory with.

Solution :don't buy the US version

A want LTE so i will buy EU version...
I was asking beacause US version is cheaper... And I am now in US
No there's no way to make it work. Its down to hardware level and it would cost you just as much as getting the D821 by trying to modify anything in your phone's hardware.
OK OK... I dont know its a hardware issue... I was thinking that is about software...
I will look for EU version...
Don't buy the USA one. The lte bands differ as does one of the gsm for the UK and other countries in Europe

It will work BTW you will just lack 2 lte and 1gsm band

I know there are some other questions similar to mines. But none of them are for Canada. I have a Nexus 5 D820 bought from WIND Mobile. Will this phone work with all other Canadian carriers?
The answer is always the same. There are 2 versions of the nexus 5, neither have sim lock applied. There are no carrier versions of the n5

Every single Nexus 5 is unlocked.
Just wondering if the g flex 2 with at&t is available anytime soon. Or is there an unlocked version that works with at&t LTE network?

Well i just ordered an unlocked g flex 2 from eBay. And just recently on my unlocked international Z2 I started to get LTE on att. Also on eBay one seller has stated that the unlocked G flex 2 get LTE on att. I'll let you know once I actually get the phone, which should be soon

I just received a Korean version model LG-F510S I purchased on eBay and it receives full 4G LTE using my AT&T SIM card.
Does it have all the att LTE bands or just one?
Getting a little bit impatient here with att, even the s6 is out. Wondering how the LTE coverage with the Korean unlocked model is with att, since its missing some bands. Any experience?
I am getting Band 17 on AT&T in my area with my unlocked Korean version.
I looked up the f510s and it says lte band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8.
Would u mind sharing the link for the one that u purchased?

I purchased mine on eBay.
Mind to share the eBay link or seller info? Just want to make sure its the right version that gets at LTE. Thanks.
I am on AT&T in the US. I'd like to get the 6GB version. I haven't seen that it is being offered in the US. Anyone know if it will?
Assuming it will, ifs there any specific reason to purchase the US model over the international version? I would like to have a phone that will work on both Verizon and AT&T, as I may change carriers.
Any advice?
The Mate 9 will not work on Verizon nor Sprint. Its a GSM phone which means AT&T and Tmobile
If you're changing, then consider T-Mobile!
Not sure you guys realize Verizon uses SIM cards now too on some phones. Pixel XL is a sim card phone that was sold exclusively for a min through verizon, my friends have Nexus 6P on Verizon network. Sprint also uses a nano SIM on all their iPhones. Now the bands they support maybe different from a US version to a International.

I'm waiting for the official US release in the scant hope of VZW radio support. (Not likely though)

Oh, interesting. That is a caveat that throws the consideration less toward this phone.
Thanks for the replies.

Yes, if you get a variant of the Mate 9 that supports Verizon's LTE bands it will likely work for LTE. However it will not support 3G, 1X, or voice (which are CDMA). The Pixel and Nexus 6P include CDMA support, which the Mate 9 does not.

The Kirin 960 natively supports CDMA. But whether or not it gets certified for use in the US in the Mate 9 is yet to be seen.
This is killing me. I'm on Sprint, I want this phone. I keep hearing multiple different things. I want to order an international one to have ordered one by the end of the year. I see multiple models (MHA-AL00 and MHA-L29) hoping something will work with CDMA (Sprint)
They likely won't bother supporting all the right frequencies unless VZ or Sprint brands the phone, which seems even less likely... VZ has been using sims since LTE rolled out but that isn't really the problem.
If you're on a AT&T or T-Mobile then who cares about the US model... The only benefit is that eventually there will be cheaper used phones in the US after 6+ months.
I have a MHA-AL00 (6gb, 128gb) from China and wish I had an AL29 as the Chinese support on unlocking the boot loader is terrible (e.g., I cannot get a code). AL29 is supported by one of the apps and also I believe local Huawei offices. Installing google play thankfully is not a problem but I'd be careful nonetheless on the AL00.
Verizon and Sprint

Verizon and Sprint only use SIM cards for international use, they had to use/include GSM in order for their phones to roam outside the US.
