Only connect to certain Cell Networks - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I need a way to block my phone from connecting to the AT&T cell network. I live close to the Canada-US border and ever since Fido launched it's national roaming network (Fido-EXT), I've been connecting to AT&T also because I have to have the phone set to "Connect Automatically" so I can connect to the main Fido network and Fido-EXT. Any ideas?
Thanks!

[Q] No packet data and network selection

Hi, I've been trying to connect my captivate to my network's WAP connection but not been able so far.
My Captivate's info:
Baseband Version: I897UCJH7 (the stock version)
Kernel Version: Voodoo Lagfix
Rooted
I bought it unlocked in the US, inserted my sim card (Wap was working in 3G on my previous Nokia N95), I configured the APN info to the Captivate correctly, then tryed to open a site with no luck. No internet and no MMS.
I started investigating and found that the Network operators menu won't let me choose any of the local networks as a "Default Setup" button is greyed out. I thought this must be an other AT&T lock and tryed to solve this by rooting the phone as I had no idea what that is for but it didn't help.
Ancel's 3G Network works in 2100Mhz. In the about section Mobile network type goes from UMTS to EDGE to HDSPA all the time, Service State "In service" and Mobile Network State from connecting to disconnected all the time.
When I start sending a MMS, Mobile Network State goes to "connected", the phone displays a little 3G icon with two grey arrows at the top of the screen, but the MMS never sends. The icon eventually goes away, the Mobile Network State goes back to disconnected and connecting and the message never gets "sent".
Can anyone help me? Thank you.
Javier.

[Q]US Cellular Touch Pro 2 needs EDGE Configuration on T-Mobile/i-wireless.

Hey there!
I have a US Cellular Touch Pro 2 running MightyRom with radio 1.96.00WF. I'm able to register my T-Mobile sim card on local i-wireless GSM network (because I'm currently in Iowa and T-Mobile does not have network here), but somehow I cannot use the EDGE on i-wireless network even there is a solid "E" icon on upper right screen.
I've tried several network configuration but most of them will end up with a failure prompt. The network configuration closest to success is like this:
Name for Connection: T-Mobile Data
Select a Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access Point Name: epc.tmobile.com
User Name, Password, Domain: (blank)
With the setting above I am able to establish an EDGE connection. The connection does not send or receive any data, however no error has occurred.
Is there a problem with my network setting since my T-Mobile sim card is roaming on i-wireless GSM network? Anything I can do to get the EDGE working? Thx!

MVNO Issue (Virgin/TMob UK using Orange)

Hi Guys,
Basically my provider is Virgin Uk who is an MVNO. They use TMobiles network. TMobile has an agreement with Orange so that we can use their network when the TMob/Virgin signal is not good. Once I am on the Orange network, the network name changes to 'Virgin' from the normal 'virgin'.
Note, in the notification pull down tray where you can see the current network, when I am on my home network ('virgin'), it shows as 'no service'.
Whilst I am on the 'virgin' network (actually the TMob network), I can use data without any changes to the roaming settings. If I swap over onto the 'Virgin' network (actually the Orange network), Android tells me that I am roaming and thus I have lost data. At this stage I have to change the roaming settings to enable data.
In my CM9 rom, I have an option to enable 'National Data Roaming'. Should this option allow me to use data on the 'Virgin' network (actually the Orange network)?
This doesn't appear to be the case and I have to switch on the main 'Data Roaming' option which would then mean when travelling abroad where I am actually roaming, I would get charged for any data usage.
Does anyone have ideas on how to sort this out so I don't have to keep changing my Roaming options?
Thanks

SlimKat 6.0 --- Trouble connecting to a service provider in Canada!

I am on Verizon's More plan meaning I have free texting Canada. Just landed in Vancouver today and my phone fails to connect to any wireless network. I cannot hit global in the preferred type in mobile networks and also when I choose network operators CAN Rogers Wireless comes up, but it fails to connect when I attempt to connect to it.
Maybe I have to input different APN settings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much.
