Galaxy S6 Mic Is Not Working During Calls On Speaker - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Mic Issue With Speakerphone Calls
I purchased a Verizon Galaxy S6 last week and have been enjoying it so far. Today I tried out the speakerphone several times and every time the person on the other end could not hear me. Is this a software or hardware issue? Is it defect or user error? What can I do to fix this? Any help in resolving this matter would greatly be appreciated. Thank you for your help.
-EDIT-
To clarify the microphone does work fine for normal calls. Does the Galaxy S6 use the same mic for both operations? Also, I have tested with and without case on. It seems like a secondary mic or software issue. Is there a secondary mic for the S6? If not then what software or settings could be effecting the speakerphone mic functions?

The Galaxy S6 I believe is like the Note 4 in regards to microphones. When you turn speakerphone on the mic at the top of the phone near the IR blaster is enabled, when just using the phone the mic on the bottom of the phone is enabled. My Note 4 had an issue, on speakerphone mode the people I tried calling could hardly understand me and it kept breaking up my voice to them. I ended up having to send it in for a warranty claim.

There are a couple holes at the top of the S6 on either side of the IR blaster. I haven't been able to dig up any reliable specs. I was hoping for a software fix, but understand hardware might be a likely culprit. Do you think there is any reason I should not take it back other than the cost of time to me waiting in the store and reloading accounts onto the phone?

Exchanged it this morning. Thank you for your help. Problem is fixed with new unit.

[Q] Skyrocket mic issue? or software?

Hi,
I was very excited to get my Skyrocket, but after a day of using it, people I called to reported that there's a weird problem with the call audio quality. For a few seconds my voice seems to be muted out, like speaking very distant. This has gone on for many calls at different locations.
Frustrated, I sent the first one back and got another one. It came today and I was very excited. I tried it and there was no problem. Then a couple of hours later, the same problem came on.
This is really weird. I don't think it's a hardware problem since it has happened on both phones, the second of which is brand new. Makes me wonder if it's a software problem. But this did not happen on my HTC Inspire which had the same set of apps as the Skyrocket.
Does anybody encounter the same problem? Know any tests/ fix for the issue? Or even heard of something similar?
Do you have a case on your phone? If so, perhaps it's covering the mic???

I've noticed this phone needs to be right up On Your face for anyone to hear you..

Disable the setting that is mic noise cancellation, that's what is causing it.

I am having the same issue where my voice seems fading/distant according to anyone I talk to. I exchanged it once and still have the same problem. I don't really know the problem so I just use BT headset for calls.

Hmmm... my phone was doing the same thing, turned off noise cancellation, fixed.

I have had the identical problem as the original poster. I received my Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket on January 18, 2012. Starting immediately, during phone calls, the other party would tell me that my voice cut out, sounded distant and tinny for a few seconds at a time. When using a bluetooth headset, the problem never occurs, so I ruled out the mobile network as the cause of the problem. I do not have a case for my phone, so that is not the cause of the problem.
I exchanged the phone for a brand new Skyrocket, which I received on February 3, 2012. Same problem with the new phone. I am nearly sure the problem is with the noise cancellation hardware/software. It seems to get worse if I hold the phone touching my ear (the noise cancellation microphone is on the top edge, near where the phone will touch the ear).
Besides this defect, I like the phone a lot. Now I must decide whether to use the phone with noise cancellation turned off, or give up on Skyrocket, return the phone, and choose another Android phone.
Are all Skyrocket owners using their phones with noise cancellation turned off? This is a very serious defect.

No problem on mine.... with or without noise cancellation... in spite of what you said, it does sound like a network issue... do you notice this everywhere, or just in some locations?

It has occurred in many different locations.
In the course single phone call, I can experience the problem using the handset, then switch to a headset and the problem stops, and then go back to the handset and the problem picks up again. I am going to start using the handset with noise cancellation turned off, and I'll report back on how that works.

My observations:
No issues when using bluetooth headset or loudspeaker.
I experience the problem when using the wired headset, and handset with or without noise cancellation.
I probably have a defective phone but did not bother to exchange it again. I use bluetooth headset all the time.

Had the same problem as you. I got a SIM replacement and turned off noise cancellation.
Mic Issue Continues
After looking into reviews of this phone, and subsequently buying one in June, I can't believe I missed this issue. Alas, over the past few months, most recipients of my calls as well as callers to me cannot hear me unless I'm speaking loudly into the phone. To make matters worse, I can't simply tilt the phone to my mouth and back to my ear because the motion sensor will activate the screen and my cheek will touch the "end call" button. I have already turned off noise suppression and still, it's a problem. I have already "talked loudly" and then normally, and still, no dice. I have also switched to speakerphone, then back to normal and still, no dice. This is painful. It makes the "phone" useless. (I have not tried switching to Sky ICS.)
Has anyone found a solution to this design flaw besides a headset? Will adjusting the mic gain work? If so, what code do I need to adjust the mic gain?
Rooted Skyrocket. AOKP Milestone 6
My wife is having this exact same problem on her Skyrocket too.
She was on the official ICS from ATT and then I tried CM9 and nothing seems to make any difference.
Anyone found any more info?
You think it's worth exchanging the phone or just a bad design in the hardware?

I hear installing the Sky ICS ROM may solve the problem. If that is the case, then it is not a hardware design flaw but possibly noise suppression run amok (regardless of whether the option is unchecked). That would seem to be consistent given the mic location has not changed in the Galaxy line of phones. Further, speakerphone works flawlessly.
If Sky ICS works or if I find a "mic gain" solution, I will report back.
guys try rooting ur skyrocket and flashing a new kernel

[Q] Microphone doesn't work. Even after exchange

Hi there! I've bought used Nexus 5 recently, and it had issue with microphone and cracked screen. So I ordered replacements on ebay, but when I've changed daughterboard (usb, mic, etc.), the problem remains. Everything work with both daughterboards except for the mic. And yes, i tried it with different ROMs. I can't complain about unfair seller, screen was rather good.
So, my question is: may there be another reason for mic not working, or it is nothing but defective daughterboard? I don't believe in such coincidences.
Can't get another device for test now, so i need for you help.
in-call mic not working
i'm having problems with my mic also after cracking a screen and replacing the screen then I cracked the new one and a few weeks later after I installed android L my in call mic broke my speaker phone will work but not the regular one but I have yet to find any solution I have factory reset and tried multipule roms Maybe a bootloader update I know there was in call problem on the 4.4.1 update due to the bootloader needing updated but I would think my speaker phone would not work if this was the case., I was thinking about putting my stock screen back on and trying to send it back but it was a present from my step dad so it might be a pain. I will let you know if I figure something out , Is yours al mics or just in call? does speaker phone work?
Speaker works. Only in-call mic seemed to be broken.
Same issue, after updating to lollipop my mic stop working
Hi, i have the same problem.
Did you solved it in the meantime?

[Q] In-call mic & speaker dead on stock device, can only make calls with Bluetooth

[Q] In-call mic & speaker dead on stock device, can only make calls with Bluetooth
Anyone else encountered this problem? It's NOT a volume issue, it's an 'in-call speaker and mic not working at all' issue. About two months ago my phone calls completely cut out all in-call sound, UNLESS I use a Bluetooth headset, in which case I can talk and hear just fine. When it first went out, I was able to use the mic and in-call speaker as long as I put it in speakerphone mode, but after a few weeks, that cut out, too. It will answer the call...I just can't communicate without BT engaged. Factory reset and other known "try this first" solutions have been dead-ends.
The OTA to KitKat didn't change or help anything in regard to this problem, and the same problem persists in the same fashion. I am currently still stock...after modding my M7 on TMO repeatedly, when I switched to Verizon and got an M8, I resolved to stick with stock and try to appreciate getting the OTAs before the other carriers. All well and good--until your in-call sounds bugs out and renders your device useless as a phone unless you put your BT earpiece in first.
I'm curious if this is a widely known problem, as I couldn't find evidence of it being common, but wasn't sure if I was just looking in the wrong place or using the wrong search terms. If so, is there a decent fix, or did VZ just sell me a lemon? If there's not a decent solution, would Factory Reset, unlock, and flashing TWRP and a good aftermarket ROM, say CM, cause this problem to be fixed?
Just figured I'd ask the hive before I dig into it myself and end up pissing away the rest of my weekend on it. Cheers and thanks!

S7 Earpiece not working

The earpiece stopped working the other day out of nowhere... I have not dropped the phone, or gotten it wet at all (not that it should matter!) but it no longer plays sound out of the earpiece... Anyone else experiencing this issue? It makes it extremely difficult to be on the phone since I usually talk with the phone to my ear. I have made sure that the call volume was all the way up, so it doesn't seem like a volume issue either.
Any troubleshooting advice, other than making calls and seeing if it starts working?
Same problem with earpiece not working
Did you find a solution to this problem. I've just purchased the S7 and have discovered earpiece not working. Speaker works but not the earpiece nor headphone jack. Probably going to return under warranty but would be helpful if a known solution!
Hi,
did you find out what to do or is it just to send it to a technician?
mine is three days old and doesn't work from day one ...
Sorry for delay. No I didnt find a solution. I took it back to Samsung and they exchanged the handset under warranty. Goodluck.

Bottom microphone problem

Hello
I've got a problem with the mic on my s7, the one on the bottom of the phone. Few days ago everything was normal, i had good voice quality while talking but now nobody can hear me because the sound is really quiet. When i open up sound recording I hear some stuttering and white noise and I have to talk directly to the mic to hear my voice. The top speaker works perfectly fine btw. I tried to flash different roms and the problem is still there, but now it's quite better than it was before.
Did anybody have similar problem and knows the way to fix it? Or is it possible to turn the top mic as the main one?
I don't want to send it to the service bc I don't have warranty and they can break the screen and then it is expensive to repair.
