How to run ADB on Windows for the MediaPad X2 ( and probably other Huawei devices ) :
* Windows: Download the HiSuite from Huawei ( for the adb drivers )
http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/
* Windows: Download the adb 15 second installer ( and install with admin level )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
* Smartphone/Tablet: Set your device to USB debug mode
- Go to Setting - About Phone
- Press 7 times on the Build number until you see a message that you have access to the developer options
- Go to Setting - Developer options
- Enable "USB debugging"
* Windows: Run the abd command
- Search for cmd, right click and select "Run as Administrator"
or
- Go to c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe, right click and "Run as Administrator"
* CMD box:Enter the following commands:
- cd c:\adb
- run the command you need.
For instance to change the DPI for your phone / smartphone:
- adb shell wm density 280 ( or whatever number you need. The X2 runs at 400, the Sony Z Ultra runs at 320 ).
Reboot your device after making changes
Hi. Any way to get the drivers alone, without installing all hisuite?
Thx
Can you post some screen shots of the X2 running in 280dpi please ?
What the advantages of changing the dpi ? is it you can get more on the screen ?
Is it possible to change dpi using an app and could it be set on a "per app" basis ?
I don't want to screw up EMUI
Thanks
Mark

The dpi changes can always be undone. So you are not going to screw up EMUI.
Here are some pictures that ajsmsg78 posted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62462003&postcount=12
You gain about 60% more content on your screen in Chrome etc... At 400 ( default ) dpi, the X2 its screen content is nothing but a oversized smartphone. With 280dpi, its a tablet with way more usable area.
At first i also doubted if it was worth the effort, because it took me a long time to figure out all the steps. That is why i wrote this manual, so its way more easy for other people. Will it screw up EMUI, yea, for a part:
The new installed program icon's will have a green area. The basic 5x5 will not change size with the new DPI ( because Hauwei is so stupid as to hardcode the grid size around the 400 dpi ). But you can use any other launcher instead of the EMUI launcher. I kind of like Action 3 ( Action launcher 3.5 ) as a replacement.
The few disadvantages are really few, compared to the massive gains you get. The Sony Z Ultra was running in 320dpi and still had chrome in smartphone mode ( no tabs etc ). 280dpi on the Sony's 6.4" was not feasible. But on this 7" X2, 280dpi is the perfect size and it opens up several programs there tabled mode.

Make sure you check these threads daily. A lot of stuff gets posted that you may not have seen and then the same questions get asked over and over again. You could even start a new thread in the Q&A section asking for someone to post pictures of what the phone looks like at 280dpi. You'd probably get a faster response if you did that. It makes it easier to look through each thread if we all keep the topic about what the original post was about. :good:
Thanks very comprehensive answer
I want to set my dpi to 280 now but can't without access to my laptop
Will have access to computer in a few days and will do it then
The X2 has to be connected to the lap top

Wow! Something new to think about! I assumed that you saw MORE content on the display because the display is bigger. But now I understand that's not the case. If you do what's on the instructions that Benjiro figured out does that void the warranty?

So I followed the steps to a T and was able to get my booloader unlocked. But now with the Rooting I can't seem to find my device. It finds it with Fastboot but not adb. I've tried 3 different computers and usb cords with the same results. I just want to root this, any adb advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm getting can't find device.

I get the same "cannot find device" error but ADB still works. Try the commands and see if they work. Or update your Android Platform tools to the newest version.
Hi!
Thanks for the guide!
Is there a way to fix the navbar disappearing in horizontal mode? When I hold the X2 in landscape mode the Navbar is still there (a black stripe) but the Back/Home/Recent Apps Buttons are missing. Tried several DPI settings.
EDIT!
For some reason it works now! The navbar is now on the right side of the screen when in landscape mode! I switched DPI several times one after another (280, 320, 400, 330, 300, 280, 320 something like that) and rebooted and somehow it works (320DPI).
But there is one big problem: the famous and extremely useful keyboard "Swiftkey" becomes totally unusable below 400 dpi.
A big disappointment more on this X2 ....
No problem if you change dpi via the kangvip menu
For this install AJ's B211 Rom

Idea is simple - change LCD density without modifying build.prop and almost on the fly.
Application will change LCD density in system, changes will not survive reboot (so if you have wrong settings, pull out battery or restart device and you are back to old settings). For now best way to change density is to reload Android software stack (it will seems like crash but it's intended to be this way).
Now available from Play

Looks Very Nice Going to test it out on my Rooted Cliq (2.1) Tell you how it goes
Edit: It works fine on my phone w/o issues detected
Sweet! Downloading and trying ASAP!
From what I've seen on video, you're not having so called "Compatibility mode" to resize apps to new density, am I right? It would be a sweet feature.
So, I see there is rival to "LCD Density Changer" :}.
It was quick and dirty test Released test version auto scale should work.
About "LCD Density Changer" - both programs differ in a way how changes are preserved. My program does not write anything on /system, so it's better for those who wants "high res" effect to be available quickly but not all the time (or those who use "LCD Density Changer" and wants to play some games that's not compatible with high resolutions ). "LCD Density Changer" saves edits to /system partition - for long term use.
I know I know, but you must admit - effect is pretty the same . It is not definitive in one case, which has its pros and cons.
Regardless how cool idea is, I have a problem with app - I installed it, opened it, choosed one option and... nothing. Tried it on 1.6 (official Donut for my country, rooted + busybox) and for Froyo (CM6), same issue .
Please try with newest package.
Honestly, no need for it now . App had some hard times asking for superuser permission, but when it did, everything just works! Great app. Still some features like returning to default density and compatibility mode are good to have .
Thanks a bunch, great piece of code!
Very interesting app!..andyes, return to default would be very nice.

I'm not using j_r0dd's rom in fact im using [Rom] adlxmod 2.0.2 - Android 2.1 with Motoblur. I should of been rather specific, if you need further proof I can use a screenshot of one.
The problem is that it doesn't use busybox. It relies on built-in unix commands. Busybox implementation will fix it.
Implemented this in my app as "preview". Happy to see a competitor

Which setting did You tried?
i tried 120, and then the phone rebooted and continuously rebooted for a while until i remove the battery.
work on motorola cliq. thx mate.
Tried on Nexus One.
120 rebooted but didn't do anything.
Tried 180, 200, 220 which all worked, but everything looks too weird for me. Didn't like it. Went to 240 which seems like back to default.
works nice setted now on 120 on my htc hero
Total fail on my Vibrant. Selected 200 (the recommended setting for Galaxy S/Vibrant), and the screen simply went blank, phone froze completely requiring battery pull.
At least it didn't change anything permanently, so I guess it's safe. But it doesn't work.
Lots of good reports from the T-Mobile Pulse community, works perfectly!
Hey friends,
We have heard about the Tizen OS. It is yet another linux os for the mobiles & smartphones. It seems that they have released their source code over here:
SOURCE CODE
and the SDK as well...
Hope to we can see this on our beloved HD2 soon.
well it's not so new, it's the fusion between, Limo, Moblin, Maemo, Meego (and i think Bada too since Samsung is heading up the project).
I think it will became the main Samsung OS.
Samsung planned 41 billion dollars for R&D this year....
I am following this thread for the past one year and I have yet to see someone post even a partially working build of maemo, meego, Limo, or Tizen as they call it these days. So here is the suggestion to all the devs who can make a build for the HD2, please make a partially working build so that someone else can improve upon it.
thanks in advance.
@s8isfi I have been following for a looking time also. I gave up a long time ago I don't even know why I'm on the forum.

Hi All,
I have downloaded the Tizen 1.0 ARM image from here and created new initrd.cpio and mounted all required filesystems (EXT4) to make Tizen boot from HD2. Used the kernel from here
Initially i was able to see some dialogs saying default depth should be 24 or 32. Then I configured xorg with framebuffer and with default depth as 16 as mentioned in Htc-Linux. I almost had it . Now i am stuck at black screen with a cursor displayed for long time :crying:.
I think I am missing something. This is the first time I am trying to do all this stuff. Need to go much more deep into it. I hope this should not take much time. I will try to come up with a positive status in this...
Cheers,

HTC HD2 - The Immortal
You could post the files for it here so others can contribute
Sure. I will share those files asap.
Okay let me share some news on my second try on Tizen in HD2. After long struggle Tizen boot was successful till the Tizen startup animation showed up!!! :good:
Now I could see a pop up error message (WOW! I can see a graphical content ) saying that the compositor must need 24 or 32 depth. But HD2 is configured Xorg and working fine only with 16bpp depth. So? Is it not possible to bring Tizen's UI with 16 bit depth?
What do you mean "it works fine only with 16bpp depth"? What are the consequences of 24 or 32bpp depth?
I apologize for not being clear.
When the depth was set as 24, the graphics looked like solarized and still no UI showed up.
Then I set the depth as 16 and connected a mouse through USB Hosting. When I right click, I can see 4 buttons "Volume Up", "Volume Down", "Home" and sorry i forgot one more button's text. When I clicked Volume Up button, I was able to see a dialog with volume slider but this dialog was cropped and displayed beyond the resolution. I presume the resolution has not fixed for 480x800. I will post some pics on this later.
Need some more time for me to know about X Window system / Composite Window Manager. Info#1 Info#2
Tried to boot the latest image of Tizen (LINK) but it looks like DEVTMPFS is not enabled in the kernel. Tried with the latest kernel as well but unable to load /dev. Need to modify the kernel and compile it.
After several tries and reworks still the screen remains black and with mouse pointer. But the mouse pointer is moving when a mouse connected to usb host and with touchscreen events as well. Anyone can suggest. Here is my xorg.config

Hello everybody,
What is DPI:
Dots per inch (DPI) is a measure of spatial printing or video dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the span of 1 inch (2.54 cm). The metric alternative is dots per centimeter (dpcm).
Monitors do not have dots, but do have pixels; the closely related concept for monitors and images is pixels per inch or PPI.
Why to change the DPI:
Most manufacturers stick to the standard DPI of 240 which in our case, on a big screen, everything is too big compared to other phones.
Since the scale is the same with other phones, our big screen makes no difference (because we see everything bigger and we do not see more).
This can be fixed to each ones need when you change the DPI.
Images:
Left is the default DPI: 240 - Right is my custom DPI: 200

How to change the DPI:
There are some ways to change the DPI, i will describe an easy one by using a free APP called LCDDensity for Root and a manual method.
CAUSION: Messing with the DPI may cause instability and some times boot problems, so BACK UP before trying anything.
Steps: (after making a back_up)
METHODE 1 - App from store, the density resets to default after a reboot.
1. Install LCDDensity for Root.
2. Open the "LCDDensity" app (click continue on the first screen) and sellect the density you want (default is 240), you better go from 180 to 240 (between these values) , i am using 200.
3. Sellect as reboot method: killall
4. Click "Apply (Restart)", your phone will reboot
5. Enjoy
METHODE 2 - Edit manually the build.prop, the density will be changed even after a reboot.
1. Open a Root Explorer (like the app Root Explorer).
2. Go to /system
3. Click on Mount RW (It should appear as Mount RO, that’s when it is correct!)
4. Look for build.prop. Long press on the file and press Open file in Editor
5. Scroll down and find the "ro.sf.lcd_density=240"
6. If you find it change the value to what you like else write that in a new line at the bottom (ex. ro.sf.lcd_density=200)
(Change the value to anywhere between 180 and 240. The lower the value, the higher density your screen will have.)
7. Click on the Menu button, and Save and Exit.
8. Reboot. Enjoy
Method 2 was copied from here: http://wccftech.com/article/increase-screen-dpi/
PS:
- I advice you, first to use the app to see which density you prefer (and avoid compartibility problems) since with a reboot things will get back to normal.
- If you have any problems on the reboot, restore your system from CWM
Bugs:
- The answer/reject call buttons are not in the middle of the screen... big deal
1 question
How i want change permenent. After reboot back to normal large. Sry bad english
You can manually set it from a system file but i havent test it yet...
Edit: take a look at the first post

There isn't any much information on the tab specs-wise, except that it runs on a customised Android distribution with a child-friendly UI (think Samsung's Kid UI), a 1024x600 LCD screen, and a dual-core Rockchip RK3168 SOC. That's besides VTech developed or curated edutaiment apps being distributed physically through proprietary cartridges (using a wrapper as NeverLies mentioned), a stylus pen and of course the form factor.
Mom's Messy Miracles is currently having a giveaway contest, if anyone's up to it.
UPDATE: @ifhi has managed to debloat and convert his Innotab into a plain ol' Android tablet; see this post for details.

I'm not sure if I'd be able to pick one up in the near future, but I'm interested in tinkering with one and knowing as to what VTech used for the Max's internals, like the card slot and of course the SOC used.
That, and since this is by and large a children's device, I'm sure Samsung's Kids UI would be a natural fit for this tab. That is if it can be ported at all. Oh, and Cyanogenmod, anyone?

Heard of it, but I'm actually interested in a root/recovery for the device as this one runs on Android. Yeah, there has been hacks for the other Innotab models, but while there's a thread in Spiffy's board mentioning about the possibility of supporting the Max, no hacks or root tricks for the latter exist yet.

Hi
Anyone succeeded to root the tablet, or at least install an alternate store (Google Play Store or Amazon App Store) ?
I couldn't find anything about a way to dump games to SD card, can someone post some information about it ?
Are there any debugging options available on the tablet when you log in to Parent Mode? Something along the lines of Unknown Sources or at least a USB debug mode?
I would be definitely interested in accessing the play store and having root rights with this tablet. But I need to still have access to the Vtech UI for my child. (good UI I think, but a little slow sometimes).

Does someone manage to go to recovery ?

Hello there
My daughter just had one, and I've spend couple of hours on this one.
Right now, here is the status:
- I can boot in bootloader interface mode
- I can "adb" with device
- while in shell mode, "su" is working fine, and can read full content of the tablet
You can see in attached pic that they may had some issue on the wifi/bluetooth device as they are some testonly release in it

Wow !!
It's a good news !
Could you tell me how you enter in bootloader mode ?
Thank you for your work !
I don't want everyone to get a bricked device so let's wait a few and found out what is available.
I've also made available some information on spiffy. Let me see If I can get the FW
As posted on spiffy, here are the instructions
1. Turn OFF your MAX
2. In order to get access, you will have to boot to recovery
* * *- Plugin USB cable and wait for the battery charging animation
* * *- Hold down UP (on the dpad) + LEFT (on the dpad) + Context Key (the one on the upper left) and press ON for 3 seconds
-------- Alternate: Up & left (d-pad) vol up and power button (3 seconds)
* * *- It will stay black screen, this is normal
3. Using the google driver, edit the "android_winusb.inf" file on your PC, and add following lines:
- In section named “[Google.NTx86]”
;InnoTab Max
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0006
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0006
- In section named “[Google.NTamd64]”
;InnoTab Max
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0006
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0006
4. Plug the MAX on your PC using USB cable
5. Drivers should be then installed correctly (thanks to modifications done in android_winusb.inf)
You now have adb access to your tablet, only in recovery mode. You can test using "adb devices" command, it should list your device
6. start adb shell using "adb shell" command on your PC
7. Get root access, using "su" command
8. Enable adb for normal mode, using this command: "setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1"
9. You can now reboot the tablet in normal mode using "reboot" command
Once tablet is rebooted, you will see an unknown device, based on the rk30 board. You will need rockship driver pack to continue with adb in this normal mode
10. Install driver pack for rockship from: http://dl.radxa.com/rock/tools/windows/RK_DriverAssitant.zip
You now have complete ADB access to your tablet
I've just installed the latest firmware upgrade available and the device is reported to be running on android 4.2.2
Let me know if you have issue while following these steps, but should be quite straightforward.
Note that busybox 1.11.1 is already available, and you have root access.
If you need to factory reset your tablet, the key combination is almost the same as getting in recovery
Hit: UP + LEFT + ? and turn on the tablet
------------------ Android Launcher ---------------------------------
Start adb shell and type the following command:
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -c android.intent.category.HOME
this will move to foreground the android launcher
Congratulation !

Looking interesting now been playing with my daughters when she not demanding Peppa pig on it some cool posibility with it if we can launch some apks on there
Hi All,
Little app for PoGo alerts on MiBand (and any fitness tracker!)
Basically - it works when the app is running - it allows me to use my Mi Band/BIP like a PoGo+ as well as trying its best to help with the battery saver mode (makes it dimmer and more black!)
The idea is that every time the app vibrates the Band does too, as long as it's allowed in the fitness tracker app. Works for MiBand and for Amazfit Bip in my testing, I assume it works for all smartbands that allow the user to choose apps.
You can choose the features in the app and they will automagically start as long as the 'App Active' button is set to 'ON'.
Optional features are:
* Simulate Go+
* Screen dim when facedown
* Screen dim when upside down
* Screen dim when proximity sensor covered
* Screen dim for both of the above
* Screen timeout set by app screen, resets to previous whe PoGo closes
I'm testing disabling the actual phone screen backlight/LEDs without root but I don't think it's possible (PoGo app closes). Still though, it should be more efficient than PoGo battery saver mode alone.
New install instructions (APK no. 65)
To make sure the app functions correctly you'll need to do the following in the given order.
Install app
Your phone should ask you for some permissions (e.g. draw over over apps)
Accept all the permissions and accessibilty options, but press NO to the 'learn how to enable read logs'
You'll need to open up ADB and allow READ_LOGS to use the GoPlus functionality.
Use the following ADB commands:
adb shell pm grant stoobacca.apps android.permission.READ_LOGS
adb shell am force-stop stoobacca.apps
Go to accessibilty settings and make sure the app is set to ON
Hopefully when you open the app all will work!

I'll see if I can update for this. Just uploaded a new one which SHOULD make the black screen big enough for all phones
I've updated - I think for all questions people have sent.
My XDA doesn't show any responses to PM's so no idea if anyone has heard from me.
Latest rev. 26 should be OK.
Let me know!
Thank you for your work!
But there some bugs in new version:
1) black rectangle still not fully cover 6" screen
2) screen timeout setting not saved: I set 60, - reopen your app and there again 30
3) when I open pokemon go, then close it and look at display setting (at android menu) I see there is no one radio button selected so there maybe some bugged value set.
4) some of your app menu settings caption have 3 lines and it trimmed at end (nexus 6)
Hey man,
Thanks!
I think I broke some stuff in the most recent version. Will upload a new apk later.
1) The rectangle thing I'm working on.
2) I have set it to display the set variable. It will default to 30 if you force close the app. Might also have a problem if your phone can't support more than 30 (that's why it defaults)
3) I might have fixed this. Could you give me more info - maybe a screenshot?
4) I think I fixed the text display issue, let me know with the new apk. (also screenshot if you can)
Glad you like my app!
Stu
Today i testing version 3.5
+ Timeout option in your app now saves fine. And change phone screen timeout to this value when PoGo opens;
But i think this option is useless, what is the point to set not maximum timeout? It needed only if we cant figure out device's maximum screen timeout.
- Screen timeout does not resets to previous when PoGo hides (In version 2.0 it always resets to 1 min.)
If it difficult to restore previous value i wish to have option to reset it to 30 seconds
- Please add version of your app to top of settings page
- Some text layout bugs:

hi and thx for the app but unfortunately it didn't work.
i have installed your apps, app active and simulate go plus and allowed notification from your app on mi band and tools but doesn't work.
is there anything else to do ?
many thx
edit 1 : turn on accessibilty, app is starting when launching pokemon go but don't get any notification on mi band
i have galaxy S7 edge
Ask author to upload previous version ---> 2.0
I use it, works fine.
try the new version 3.8 , doesn't work.
what is the parameters i have to do in apps and mi band ?
thx
Apparently a lot of time since the last comment, but I feel lucky today.
A dumb question: with this app, can I fully simulate a PoGo+ bracelet or it only receive vibrations from the app?
Is it still working?
dont think so, i couldnt get it to work
I am confused as to how this app works. I believe I have everything set up, it has accessibility access, but I can't seem to get it to work. Could you possibly make us first start/set-up guide? (Moto E4)
Does it still work?
I can look at updating if people are still interested..
Hi All,
Sorry I've not been at all active on this forum..
I've seen people asking if this still works (sorry some were a very long time ago)!
I know it's not really useful now as unfortunately we can't go outside.. but if I can dig out my old files and get this working, would anyone be interested?
I can't guarantee it as I don't play PoGo anymore. But if people are interested, I'll see if I can get some time to try and get it working again.
Cheers, and stay safe!

I would really be interested in this. Don't know if you had any responses in pm.
I second that.
I would be very interested into a new version!
Alright then peeps, I've tracked down a version I backed up so I'll take a look see.
Give me some time and i'll try to get a new version. If you could post any issues here it will help me with what to fix.. it might be all of it so no worries if the lists are long!
