Sim card cannot be detected - Xiaomi Mi 4i

I got a Mi 4i 4 days back after updating it, it is not detecting sim card. I have tried rebooting it several times, checked if adapter is insert properly but still the problem is not solved.

Go to the MIUI site (xiaomi) and reflash the original rom or the latest version.
You will loose the current data but, that should solve it.
Just make a data backup.

Well if it was an OTA update then reflash the original ROM. If you tried to install the developer ROM then there will be some issues for some devices. I don't know the exact reason why this happens
It happened to me too . No sim card and no WiFi. I thought it was a H/W issue and gave it to service center they gave it back claiming they changed mobo in 15 days but IMO they just flashed the stable version because I was on developer version

Xiaomi is making fool of Indian customers. In case of SIM is not detecting, it is because of third class quality of these handsets. You have to get the motherboard changed which is costing Rs.9000 approximately.

If the SIM card tray is damaged (for example, a piece of plastic is chipped off or a metal plate is deformed), this can be the cause of the problem when the Xiaomi smartphone does not see the SIM card.
I had such a situation on my Mi 3. In the service center they could not find the cause of the problem, I found it myself.
I hope this information will help to somebody.

SIM Problem - PLEASE NEED HELP

Hi,
Suddenly out of the blue my Touch-Cruise decided it does not find the uSIM card anymore.
tried anything i could think of:
tried the uSIM on another phone - ok
tried another uSIM on my Touch-Cruise - no SIM was found.
tried reflashing the ROMs (original ROMs - WM6 and afterwards the WM6.1 versions) --> nothing still not SIM is found
Has anyone else ever encoutered such a problem - it just happend with NO apparent reason one second it seems find the next i suddenly see the the device shows NO-SIM.
Please if anyone has any idea.......
Looks like hardware error...
Are the SIM contacts (the little metal prongs where the SIM goes) all in the correct place? They could have been damaged.

Yep, my Touch-Cruise is learning that trick too. It drops the phone connection and lately asks me to insert a SIM card. The problem seems to get worse, I think repair is needed. Will let you know how I go.
Repaired within one weak. The repair company reported a "weak signal" (?) and probably inserted new motherboard. But it works well again!
This is what happened with my Nike. It all of a sudden stopped reading any SIM card I put in it.
(Selling for spare parts if anyone is interested).
HTC repaired
My Touch cruise has been repaired and works fine with my SIM-card again!
Same problem happens to many of us... (just check the threads...)
I wonder what's the cause of this problem... since nobody knows and many people have found to replace the motherboard fixes the problem... But this is like buying a new Polaris... But what about if you have no guarranty at all...?
Well.. you can ckeck on my posts to know what I have tried so far in order to solve the problem and nothing still has worked out.
I'm having a wonderfull piece of HW and also my old mobile too... :-(
Regads,

My phone had that problem too. just sent the phone in for repair. I will update when it comes back.

"No Sim" ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hi guys,
using this device for a couple of month now without problems
today when I was driving I guess I pressed something wrong 'cause the phone network settings popped and I accidentally chose the wrong provider and now the phone says there is NO SIM!!!! ahhh
Tried shutting it down, restarting it, taking battery & sim out, resetting the phone for yesterdays settings, resetting it to manufacture settings and nothing helped still a message saying NO SIM
so.......... I got to options either the sim went dead in the middle of the day 'cause I told it to use a different provider then mine or the device is a goner.............
tried installing an old sim (not 3.5G) and it still said NO SIM
what say u ?
oh and pls help me
thanks
have you warranty for your phone? looks like you have hardware failed.
well I think the device is in warranty (two and a half month old) the problem is that it was a prize in a competition in the grand nation of america and we are far away from there.....
could it be malfunctioning in the software ?
I am upgrading the rom now maybe it will reslove itself
well updating the Rom to the latest with WM 6.1 didnt solve my problem
is there anyone here who has a similar problem with this or any of HTC devices (Lost the ability to recognise SIM cards) ??????
I've seen a few posts on this forum, complaining on a SIM troubles. If i remember correctly, the reason has been a bad SIM holder socket or something similar. Try looking for those forum threads for more info.
Anyway, the first thing i would probably try is carefully cleaning the SIM socket contacts as well as the actual SIM card contacts with alcohol or something, just to make sure it isn't just a bad contact.
I have been there. My device has been repaired twice and works fine now. The last repair concerned the socket indeed. Maybe that's your problem as well, so check:
- does your SIM work in another mobile?
- does another SIM work in your TC?
- did you clean, reseat your SIM card, try a few times!?
Good luck!
I've polaris too and i've already replaced the sim socket, which malfunctioned..2 weeks after replacement weird things started to happen. I would loose coverage while having a conversation in a place, where all bars are full. Then, after restarting the phone it would show that no sim is inserted AND here's the funny part, after the next restart, the device would return to normal. I could make calls for another day and then it goes again..Right now a week has gone by while i'm restarting my phone every day. The problem is, that right now i need to restart my phone 3-5 times for it to start working normally again (without saying that no sim is inserted).
I can't work out why would this be happening, because if it would be a bad socket, i couldn't use it again after restart, but i CAN.
Can anyone give me advice? Maybe there's a virus from which you can't recover just by flashing the rom
I had the same issue! Therefore I had the phone 3 times in repair under warranty and the issue wasn't rapaired until the third time! All together the phone was in repair over more than 2 months!
I'm pissed off on this lousy service at HTC!
I'm hoping for you not to have such a misfortune then I...
I had the same problem after dismantling.
For me it was that the SIM cable that is going to the motherboard was way to inward. I just withdraw it a bit and that did the trick.
try to install new radio..
if still doesn't works, maybe ur htc hardware problem
I agree with wakhairul2,
if it's not the Radio Rom (GSM depends from it) so it's the hardware!
if it's the second, this is common, Simcard Holder Flex for the Touch Cruise fails easily! but it's also very easy to find a cheap spare..
Anyway, if you have warranty and is less costly then go there..
Else, for a new Simholder hardware check the ebay, Click here to view
You can find for lower than 15 Euros.
Good luck

[Q] (No Sim Detected) | (No Service)

HI all, I am currently using khalpowers V4, and was using Dexter's 1.3 before too.
What is happening is that every hour or so, the phone will detect no sim card. I'll have to remove battery, take out sim, re insert in, and HOPE it works on my next reboot (chances varies, some times it takes a while before it reads again).
I am not sure if its a hardware or software issue, my sim card is fairly scratched (don't know if that plays a role in this).
What i realize recently is that once i get that problem, i can get into open recovery and wipe DALVIK cache, and it'll detect it again without having me to remove and reinsert my sim card.
Was wondering if this is just me or the rom? Or if anyone have any experience with this kind of madness, this is driving me nuts as i have to restart my phone every hour.

i'll agree with this
it's probably the SIM card that has got scratched, faulty, or something happened to it
i had to replace mine a while back for similar reasons
actually i was unable to send SMS out, but i was able to receive.
and incidentally i'll randomly get no signal
after i changed the SIM card for a new one, all the problems went away.
that was on my other phone.
never had problem on the XT720
extract rar folder then take the only (sub khalpowers V4 folder) and put the SD card installed .... ok ......You'll see it works ... the problem is the double folder

Thanks, i just wanted to confirm if it really is the sim, i suspect it is, but the thing is that it KINDA works, and then don't.... i guess i'll have to invest in a new sim card. Anyone know if Wind will give me a new one if i whine to them?

Could it be a loose connection? I've read about people that have trouble with loose connections on their SD cards positioning a piece of paper to increase the contact force.

yup, i got my replacement for free, but you have to first call customer service, and explain to them what is going on
then if they believe it's a SIM problem, they will tell you to go to any corporate store, and they will replace it for you at no charge
the CS will put a note on your profile, which the store can look up, and honour the free SIM replacement.

unfortunately i tried that already, but executed the idea in a VERY poor way, i actually put the paper at the tip of the sim and pushed it in to make the contact better, BUT when i slide the sim out, the papaer was still stuck inside, now i can't push my sim in all the way.... at least it still works .....
felt retarded, but at least lesson learned ><

Thanks i'll give them a call and give it a try.
I had the exact same problem for a week. At first the SIM got disconnected after leaving the phone idle for 10-20 minutes, then after many reboots the SIM card wouldn't be detected at all.
I got it replaced for free as well, and some of my other messaging and call problems went away too. =)

[Q]OPO doesn't recognize my sim. Need help guys

Hi All,
I have purchased OPO in september but I got it delivered to India yesterday only. I tried to insert my sim in the correct way like shown in the image, but to my surprise , I am getting the below error.
So I did a research and tried the following steps
Tried the 3g and 2g option. Did a restart.
My sim is actually a micro sim that is not cut from the mini sim. I am using it perfectly in my nexus 4.
Watched the videos on how to insert the sim properly. Did according to that.
So I thought there my be some bugs in the stock( I am on 38R) . So unlocked the bootloader and flashed the CM nightly. Same issue exists.
Then reverted back to stock and updated to 44S. Same issue exists.
The phone is working fine with everything. But it is unable to read my sim. I have tried my dad's sim which is used in Moto G.
So I took a video and posted it on youtube. Please go through it and let me know if I have damaged any of the golden PINs.

Thanks for your patience.

Lol no.
I can see the airplane mode icon in the picture you uploaded.
Try this :
1) Turn Airplane mode ON
2) Turn Airplane mode OFF
3) Reboot your phone (not software reboot, a real one)
This is the error I an getting.
Maybe your Sim is locked or not activated. Try the Sim in another phone.

No man it is working fine in nexus 4.
Even though you mention making sure the SIM is inserted the right way, I just want to confirm;
when looking at the screen, the SIM should be _below_ the tray and facing with the pins to the back.
But it is unable to read my sim. I have tried my dad's sim which is used in Moto G

Do you mean your dad's sim is working in the OPO? Or is it a no-go either? If the first applies; you may want to try having your carrier replace the SIM.
It seems the Oneplus is sometimes a bit tricky regarding the SIM.
Was going to add my voice to this as my opo arrived yesterday and I fell into that trap
I would suggest putting a cloth down on the table then lay the phone screen down, put your sim card in the tray(the only way it can go) and slide it home (that way the sim contacts will be facing you and as the tray goes in (hope that made sense)
If that does not work then contact your carrier about a replacement, fickle things sim cards

Yes you are correct . Its a trap but I did check a youtube video first before inserting the sim . It shows the way you described. But still its a no go. I think my OPO is defective or somehow I may have damaged the sim slot.

difficult for me to say I feel for you if you need to get a new unit as it was tough enough to get that one, would for sure contact your carrier as I think that will be easier than trying to get a replacement, let us know how you go
Yeah looking at the error message it seems to be a problem with the sim card not the phone itself. Correct me if I am wrong.

So i took a new sum from my carrier and used it in my OPO. I hoped that changing the sim might resolve the issue but it didn't. After removing the sim i saw some scratches on the side of the sim. So i thought the golden pins might cause this. So i will go for a RMA. You can see the image of the sim.
That card is toast, that happened putting it into the opo ?

remarkable well new phone it is then
It looks like the pins are bent on your 1+1 to do that damage on the sim card. Was your phone used because sometimes people use sim adapters to fit a nano sim into a micro sim phone and when they try to remove the card/adapter it gets caught in the pins and bends them.

[SIM CARD ISSUE] No sim card, HELP!

Hi guys, thanks for enter here to help.
I have a problem with mi Nexus 5, the screen is broken and im trying to sell it cheap but also there is another problem, Sometimes, maybe twice a day, maybe one time per 2 weeks i take the phone from my pocket and it says on the notification bar No sim card inserted, and i have no signal.

I checked if the sim tray was okey, it was.
I flashed the lastest lollipop factory image wiping ALL, does not work, and with marshmallow either.
I also bought a new sim and it still the same.
Do you have any solution or any idea why is this happening?
The disconnections does not follow a pattern or I am unable to see it
Thanks for your answers in advance!
Did you check if your IMEI is correct?
